Savona incredulous by his swift rise at Juventus: “I never expected such strong start”

 

Juventus youngster Nicolo Savona was one of the main stars in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Udinese. The 21-year-old received the MVP award after the final whistle. ............

Why Juventus Defender Nicolò Savona Deserves His Italy Call-Up

 

When Luciano Spalletti named his squad for Italy’s fixtures against Belgium and France, there were three players included that the Coach had never called up before; Fiorentina central defender Pietro Comuzzo, Lazio midfielder Nicolò Rovella and Juventus full-back Nicolò Savona. ............

 

The 21-year-old joined the Bianconeri when he was just eight, working his way through the youth ranks.

 

“The renewal was a great sign of trust from the club as well as the Coach,” Savona’s agent Michele Puglisi told. “In fact, they had been clear from the start in telling us that they were aiming to keep Savona with the first team even before the transfer window opened. Day after day, both the club and Motta confirmed their plan to keep Nicolò for the whole season.”

 

Asked about the biggest strength of his client, Puglisi would reply that Savona “isn’t affected by pressure” before adding that “Every time he moved from one age group to another, he always did better. He has now made a total of 11 appearances in Serie A and three more in the UEFA Champions League, adding a second goal in the recent win over Udinese.

 

All of that has led to his first call up to the Italy squad, despite only making his under-21 debut last month. “I called up Savona because I’m curious to get to know him,” Spalletti told reporters at a press conference, “he’s an emerging player and a regular starter for Juventus.”

 

At Juve, Motta is clearly happy with his talented young defender. “Savona can achieve great things,” the Coach told reporters at the weekend, adding that the player has “continued to train hard and commit himself, every day in training, so the credit goes to him for reaching this level.” ............
