The midfield duo are expected to make their official bows at the Allianz Stadium this evening when the club hosts Como on the first matchday of the Serie A campaign. The Brazilian and the Frenchman should both be in the starting lineup alongside Manuel Locatelli. However, each midfielder will have his own tas. Motta expects his compatriot Luiz to add some flare to the middle of the park. ............ Motta is also counting on the midfielder’s technique as the team aspires to play more vertically this term. On the other hand, Thuram will operate in a deeper position. He will start as a defensive midfielder in a 4-1-4-1 formation. ............ The Frenchman has been showcasing a noticeable ability to win back the ball and help the team launch counter-attacks. ............ Motta’s reign began with some surprises, including Federico Gatti captaining the side and a debut for Samuel Mbangula, a player most Juve fans were unfamiliar with before the match. The Bianconeri dominated from the outset, displaying a more dynamic style of play. Mbangula, making his debut, cut in from the left and curled a precise shot into the bottom right corner to open the scoring. ............. Young talent Kenan Yildiz shone in the number 10 role, frequently drifting left and contributing to Juventus’ second goal. His clever play helped set up Timothy Weah, who slotted home just before halftime. The first-half display was one of Juve’s most impressive in recent memory—dominant, efficient, and full of energy. ............. As the match wound down, Juve seemed content with their lead. However, Andrea Cambiaso capped off the performance with a stunning strike to seal a comprehensive win. This was one of the best Juventus performances in a long time, with the debutants shining and Motta off to a brilliant start. This includes eight victories from the last nine, with the only exception being the 2-2 draw against Udinese three years ago. On his first appearance as Juventus coach, Thiago Motta gave several players their club debuts, but the most impressive first outing belongs to Samuel Mbangula. The youngster marked his senior Juventus debut goal by scoring from his first attempt. He has now become the youngest Belgian to net a goal in Serie A (20 years and 216 days). Moreover, Mbangula is now the first Juventus player born in 2004 to score and provide an assist in a Serie A outing. ............. For his part, Manuel Locatelli celebrated his 100th Serie A contest with Juventus. Finally, this was the youngest-ever Bianconeri side to feature in a Serie A contest during the three-points-per-win era which started in 1994. The starting lineup had an average age of 24 years and 122 days. Juventus began the new Serie A season brilliantly under new coach Thiago Motta, earning a 3-0 win against Como 1907, and there were several things to be impressed by – most notably the stylistic changes brought by the former Bologna boss. The Old Lady were not the only impressive side on Serie A Matchday 1, though. Hellas Verona were superb against Napoli, and they too strode to a 3-0 victory. New signing Daniel Mosquera was the star of the show and Paolo Zanetti will hope he can recreate his performance this weekend. Hellas Verona vs Juventus: Predicted line-ups After the Bianconeri’s opening-day win, Motta is expected to make two changes to the side that won 3-0. Danilo is expected to return to the Juventus XI, which could push Andrea Cambiaso onto the wing. Additionally, Douglas Luiz could be offered a chance to start the fixture ahead of Khephren Thuram – the Brazilian midfielder played the final 10 minutes of the game and against Como and is likely to be given the nod from the off. ............ Hellas Verona predicted XI vs Juventus (4-2-3-1): Montipo; Tchatchoua, Dawidowicz, Coppola, Frese; Belahyane, Duda; Livramento, Harroui, Lazovic; Tengstedt. After Verona stunned Napoli with a superb second-half display, new-look Juve crushed newly-promoted Como in their first game under Thiago Motta. Match preview Making the most of a relatively kind start to the fixture list, Juventus came flying out of the blocks last weekend, as they began their latest quest to regain the Scudetto in convincing style. Surprise debutant Samuel Mbangula fired the Bianconeri in front against Como, before Timothy Weah added a second goal just before the break, and Andrea Cambiaso's stoppage-time strike served as the cherry on top of the icing for new boss Thiago Motta. Still busy in the transfer market as Juve's overhaul continues, the Turin side showed early signs of improvement, recording the highest passing accuracy on Serie A's opening matchday (92%) and being the only team not to face a single shot on target. Motta was hired to bring both proactive football and some silverware back to Italy's most successful club, after his Bologna team surprisingly secured Champions League qualification by keeping a number of clean sheets. His new-look squad may have impressed on opening night, but Juve must surely set about fixing a dismal away record if they are to challenge for the title: they have failed to win any of their last eight league games on the road, which is the club's worst such run since 1999. They have, though, won four of their last five against Hellas Verona, keeping a clean sheet in each victory - and Motta's men will be fired up to continue that trend. ............ Team News After both started last week's win over Como, Timothy Weah and Khephren Thuram succumbed to injuries and will not be involved in Verona, while Arkadiusz Milik is still sidelined by a knee problem. In any case, the latter is part of a group expected to leave Juventus before the transfer window slides shut, alongside Tiago Djalo, Filip Kostic, Arthur and Federico Chiesa. Thuram's fellow new boys Douglas Luiz, Michele Di Gregorio and ex-Verona full-back Juan Cabal should all start on Monday, but long-awaited deals for Nico Gonzalez and Teun Koopmeiners have not yet been completed. Following his debut goal against Como, youth graduate Samuel Mbangula could become the first player to score in both of his first two league appearances for Juve since Carlos Tevez in August 2013. ............ Hellas Verona possible starting lineup: Montipo; Tchatchoua, Coppola, Dawidowicz, Frese; Belahyane, Duda; Livramento, Harroui, Lazovic; Mosquera Juventus possible starting lineup: Di Gregorio; Danilo, Gatti, Bremer, Cabal; Locatelli, Luiz; Cambiaso, Yildiz, Mbangoula; Vlahovic We say: Hellas Verona 0-2 Juventus There is early evidence that Juventus will be more coherent under Thiago Motta, so they should prove a much tougher nut to crack than Verona's opening opponents, an ailing Napoli side. Juve look revived, so with Dusan Vlahovic up front and plenty of pace out wide, they can exploit any weaknesses in the hosts' defence. Socrates 8441 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 134169 messaggi Inviato August 24, 2024 Preview: Hellas Verona vs Juventus – Team News, Line-ups & Prediction Serie A Gameweek 2 rounds off at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi with an exciting clash between Hellas Verona and Juventus. Both teams got the new season off to a flying start, meaning another top-flight side will lose grip on a perfect league record on Monday. Netting three unanswered second-half goals against the odds saw Verona hand new Napoli manager Antonio Conte the worst possible debut last week. Dailon Livramento’s opener, followed by Daniel Mosquera’s double, inspired the Gialloblu to a memorable 3-0 home win on the opening weekend. ............ However, Zanetti’s ambitious hopes face a formidable challenge with a new-look Juventus rolling into town. Like his Verona counterpart, Thiago Motta enjoyed a stellar touchline debut on week one as the Bianconeri dismantled newly-promoted Como 3-0 in Turin last Monday. Prodigious forward Samuel Mbangula ran the show at the Allianz Stadium with a goal and an assist. Timothy Weah and Andrea Cambiaso joined the youngster on the scoresheet to propel Juventus to a much-needed winning start to the new league campaign. After a promising start, Juventus cannot afford to take their feet off the gas if they look to end a four-year title drought in Serie A. Match Preview Hellas Verona Verona defied the odds against Napoli, and it’s hard to put it past them to pull off another upset. Despite their relatively underwhelming home league record last season (W6, D6, L7), the Gialloblu fared outstandingly well against the best Serie A clubs at Marc’Antonio Bentegodi. ............ Juventus Motta’s side made light work of Como last weekend, but that was barely a novelty to Juventus supporters. They’ve got used to Bianconeri’s strong league starts, as it was their third consecutive 3-0 win at the beginning of a new Serie A season. However, recent history can hardly fill the visitors with confidence. Juventus followed a thumping day-one victory with a draw in round two in both previous campaigns. It’s up to Motta to buck that trend and prove he can guide the record-time Italian champions to Serie A glory. That’s not a simple task. Juventus notoriously struggled on their travels in the second half of last season, failing to pick up three points on eight consecutive Serie A road trips (D5, L3). It was back in January when they last won a league game away from home, beating Lecce 3-0. Team News As for Juventus, Khephren Thuram and Weah have joined Arkadiusz Milik in the treatment room, shortening Motta’s options. Filip Kostic and Federico Chiesa are up for sale and, therefore, omitted from the squad. Douglas Luiz and Cambiaso could fill the vacancies. Hellas Verona vs Juventus Potential Line-ups Hellas Verona (4-2-3-1): Lorenzo Montipo; Jackson Tchatchoua, Diego Coppola, Pawel Dawidowicz, Martin Frese; Reda Belahyane, Ondrej Duda; Dailon Livramento, Abdou Harroui, Darko Lazovic; Daniel Mosquera. Juventus (4-2-3-1): Michele Di Gregorio; Danilo, Federico Gatti, Gleison Bremer, Juan Cabal; Manuel Locatelli, Douglas Luiz; Andrea Cambiaso, Kenan Yildiz, Samuel Mbangoula; Dusan Vlahovic. Hellas Verona vs Juventus Prediction Juventus head into proceedings as favorites, but won’t be a walk in the park for Motta’s charges. Verona looked coherent and confident against Napoli, and if they can replicate their performance, they might take a point here. But we’d stick with the visitors’ narrow win, nonetheless. Socrates 8441 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 134169 messaggi Inviato August 28, 2024 Vlahovic strikes twice as Juventus throttle Verona to take the early league lead Juve put in another fantastic shift and became Serie A’s only perfect team. After last week’s season-opening win against Como, Juventini were trying to temper their excitement with qualifications. Small sample size, weak opponent, all that stuff. After Monday’s much stiffer test on the road against Hellas Verona, some of those qualifications about Juventus’ early-season performances are starting to drop away. An away game against Verona is never a good time. Going into the game, Juve had only won two of their last 10 games at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi — a period that stretches back to Massimiliano Allegri’s first tenure with the team. While by no means an ultimate test, the Mastini were going to be a much stiffer test than Como, and a good measure of whether Juve’s performance in the opener had staying power. ............ Monday’s game started a bit slower than last week’s did, but it followed almost the exact same script: Juve picked up the breakthrough midway through the first half, added a second shortly before halftime, and put the game away with a third not long after the restart. All the while, they kept on playing their game, pressing until the final minutes of the game, and running Hellas off their own pitch for a second consecutive 3-0 victory. The win makes Juve the only team in the league to win their first two matches and perches them atop the early table. ............ The game started a little differently than a week ago. Unlike Cesc Fabregas, who somewhat unwisely decided to try to go toe to toe with Juve at the Allianz, Verona were far more pragmatic. They defended compactly and denied Juve space to move the ball forward. After the first 10 minutes, Vlahovic and Yildiz hadn’t even touched the ball. ............ Juve broke the deadlock off a mistake in the 28th minute. Locatelli caught Duda napping with the ball and tackled it off him into the path Yildiz, who fed the ball through the middle to Vlahovic. Vlahovic stayed strong as three defenders converged on him, and stroked the ball past Montipo just as they got to him. There was a brief moment of uncertainty when a VAR check came up to make sure Locatelli’s tackle was fair, but referee Antonio Giua was never called to the monitor and the goal stood, much to the frustration of the Verona players. ............ Verona’s best attempt at a response was a direct free kick that Suslov whacked into the wall. Three minutes later Juve doubled their lead. Vlahovic was again in the thick of things, but this time fate smiled on Savona, who headed a cross from Mbangula back across goal. Vlahovic went up and tried to apply a final touch, but it flew just past him and then squeezed between Montipo and Coppola to get over the line, giving the team two goals in two games from a debutant. ............ The statistics going into the break included a number Juventus fans aren’t particularly used to: 65% possession, along with three of five shots on target, and once again no shots on target for the opposition. The second half started cagey again, but Mbangula once again made a mark seven minutes after the restart when he charged into the box and was taken down by Tchatchoua for a clear penalty. Vlahovic stepped up to it and used a stuttering run to make Montipo commit before calmly converting with a shot to his right. ............ LE PAGELLE MICHELE DI GREGORIO - 7. ............ NICOLO SAVONA - 8. Another debutant, another fantastic performance. Savona had the ball in the net twice (although one of them didn’t count) and was a constant presence in the attacking phase, but, critically, did not do it at the expense of his defense. He tied for second on the team with four tackles and added an interception as well. If this is the start of a breakout, it would be a massive development, because quality full-backs are a rarity in this sport. FEDERICO GATTI - 6.5. ............ BREMER - 8. This man is an absolute unit. He made five tackles and blocked three shots, two of which were high-quality plays. If an attacker was close to him, he wasn’t going to be doing much. He also completed 92.6 percent of his passes, including five of seven long balls. Reports of his inability to play in a back four are greatly exaggerated. JUAN CABAL - 5.5. The one player that I’ve harbored concerns about over the first two games. The majority of the bad giveaways today came from him (at least one of Bremer’s blocks came because of one of his turnovers) and he also had a couple of strange moments in defense, including one where he faced up Tchatchoua but ended up turning the wrong way, allowing him to burst inside. MANUEL LOCATELLI - 7. Playing this double pivot seems to have rejuvenated Locatelli. He was the team’s hub, attempting 101 passes. ............ NICOLO FAGIOLI - 6. An understated game from Fagioli, who nonetheless did some good work, completing 94.4 percent of his passes and making four tackles. He registered a key pass despite not being close to the goal all that often. ANDREA CAMBIASO - 6. ............ He looks like he could be a chameleon all year. KENAN YILDIZ - 7.5. Another excellent game by the teenager. Assisted Vlahovic with an excellent pass down the middle, led the team in dribbles and had a pair of tackles defensively. One in particular was a mazy run that would’ve been a fantastic goal had the shot not been blocked. SAMUEL MBANGULA - 8. Dude is rapidly becoming unbenchable. Another assist was one of a game-high three key passes, and his run into the box earned the penalty for the third goal. He attacks space, puts the ball into great places once he gets there, and he tracks back to contribute defensively, as evidenced by his pair of tackles. Right now, you have to keep him going. DUSAN VLAHOVIC - 8. His finish on the first goal was not easy, especially with all three of Verona’s center-backs converging on him. But his first touch was excellent to set him up for the finish. A coolly taken penalty gave him the brace, and he continued to use his movement off the ball to open spaces elsewhere. He also had a couple of key defensive contributions, including a block on a direct free kick and a pair of clearances. SUBS DOUGLAS LUIZ - 6. The biggest impression I got from his shift Monday night is that Douglas Luiz is a strong boy. He repeatedly fended off defenders as they tried to get the ball off him, standing his ground and simply refusing to be moved. He’ll get more minutes to show off soon enough. JONAS ROUHI - NR. ............ PIERRE KALULU - NR. ............ DANILO - NR. Got a little tangled up with Bremer at one point, but it’s good to see the captain back on the field. LORENZO ANGHELÈ - NR. Got his own debut as he provided some fresh legs for the last few minutes of the match. MANAGER ANALYSIS It’s going to take several weeks to unpack just how many wrinkles Thiago Motta can throw at an opponent, but we saw a couple today. Chief among them was the positioning of Juve’s wide players. Cambiaso especially seemed to be encouraged to pinch into the middle, effectively occupying Yildiz’s space whenever the Turk went out wide. Savona also moved inside with some frequency, often showing up in the right channel to trail the play at the back post, kind of like Stephan Lichtsteiner used to do. The press was also a major focus agianst Hellas Verona. Obviously, it produced the opening goal after forcing the turnover, and Juve continued to press when the opportunity presented itself even as the game entered its final minutes. It’s a massive change from the reactive tactics of Allegri, and shows just how different this version of Juve is going to turn out to be. Overall the key difference between Motta and Allegri is the willingness to take risks. For Allegri, the idea was anathema. For Motta, it’s an essential part of his winning formula. “Pressing the opponents means taking a risk, because you open up spaces,” he said during his post-match remarks, “but it is ultimately worth the risk because you can win it back high up the field and go straight towards goal.” That element of risk is also present in his team selection. From the shock selection of Mbangula that looks, at least at first, to have unearthed a real gem, to trusting Savona with his first start, Motta has taken some decisions that Allegri generally avoided, and it’s been paying dividends so far. It will be interesting to see if they keep doing so as he scales up a level in competition again. ............ Juventus now have five different goal-scorers among their ranks this season in Dusan Vlahovic, Nicolo Savona, Samuel Mbangula, Timothy Weah and Andrea Cambiaso. Only Paris Saint-Germain (7) have more different scorers in Europe’s Top Five Leagues. Interestingly all five players mentioned above were born after 2000, which highlights the club’s reliance on youth. But for all Juve's fancy new football, Como and Verona are not any sort of barometer for a team's Scudetto credentials like Roma -- a club supposed to be challenging for Champions League football -- even if Motta has refused to entertain any early title talk. "We've only played two matches, even if we've done very well because we've won both and played very well," Since then the signing of star Dutch midfielder Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta for more than 60 million euros has been completed, another powerplay in a busy summer transfer window for Juve who last won Serie A four years ago. Socrates 8441 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 134169 messaggi Inviato August 31, 2024 Preview: Juventus vs. Roma - prediction, team news, lineups After their sparkling start to the new season, rejuvenated Juventus welcome Roma to Turin on Sunday evening, hoping to make it three wins from three in Serie A. ............ Match preview With six goals, two clean sheets and maximum points to their name so far this season, Juventus have shot to the top of the very early Serie A standings, ahead of arch-rivals and reigning champions Inter Milan. Following up their 3-0 defeat of Como on the opening matchday, Thiago Motta's men swept aside a Hellas Verona team that had just toppled Napoli, as last term's top scorer Dusan Vlahovic helped himself to two goals at Stadio Bentegodi. Not only are Juve flying up front, but - like Motta's Bologna side last season - they have kept things very tight at the back, conceding the fewest shots on target across Europe's top five leagues so far. ............ Now, the Bianconeri could win their first three Serie A games of a season for the first time in six years, as they meet opponents they have totally dominated in Turin. Roma have lost 11 of their last 13 away games against Juventus in Serie A, conceding goals in each of the last 21; indeed, the Giallorossi's last clean sheet came back in September 2001, with their win that day ............ Team News Thiago Motta can call upon new signings Teun Koopmeiners, Sergio Conceicao and Nico Gonzalez this weekend, but Timothy Weah and Khephren Thuram are both unavailable due to injury. While there is much more competition for places in Juve's squad this season, Dusan Vlahovic is still the club's undisputed first-choice striker. The Serbian is Serie A's top scorer in 2024 (12 goals), followed by several players including new teammate Koopmeiners. ............ Juventus possible starting lineup: Di Gregorio; Savona, Gatti, Bremer, Cabal; Locatelli, Fagioli; Cambiaso, Yildiz, Mbangoula; Vlahovic Roma possible starting lineup: Svilar; Celik, Mancini, Ndicka, Angelino; Paredes, Cristante; Dybala, Pellegrini, Zalewski; Dovbyk We say: Juventus 1-0 Roma With Roma struggling to score since a post-Mourinho burst of freedom, Juventus could keep another clean sheet this weekend, as they look rock-solid at the back under new management. The hosts have recruited some exceptional talent this summer, and even if they only play a part from the bench, that should prove sufficient to see off an away side still seeking their identity. Socrates 8441 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 134169 messaggi Inviato August 31, 2024 Motta sees Juventus’ matchup against Roma as ‘a great spectacle’ Coming off back-to-back 3-0 wins to begin his Juventus managerial career, Motta enters his first big matchup in Turin with his team having some early-season win in their sails. Roma may have started the season in a very different kind of form, but Motta is well aware of the threat that Daniele De Rossi’s squad will potentially be at an Allianz Stadium that will be packed to the gills and sold out once again. “Tomorrow we will face a strong and determined opposition in a full stadium,” said Motta, whose Juve squad entered Matchday 3 atop the Serie A table. “We have prepared very well for this match, we have approached training with enthusiasm, diligence, and a positive attitude every day so that we are ready to give everything on the pitch tomorrow. It will no doubt be a great spectacle.” He continued: “We are only at the third game. Daniele had a great end to the (2023-24) season. I know him well, because we were teammates in the national team. ............ “I’m happy with the market because we’ve brought in strong players, who will compete in a strong team,” Motta said. “The new guys will become available, I am very happy. All the guys who have arrived, also Koop, have made a big effort to be here. They are guys who have put all their talent at the team’s disposal and always give their best.” When asked about the new signings and their availability to face Roma on Sunday, Motta replied: “All fit. All eligible for tomorrow.” ............ “Djaló, Kostic and Arthur are all part of Juventus,” Motta said. “The outgoing market is still open.” ............ “When I was given the No. 10 shirt in the national team, he gave me his full support,” Motta said of De Rossi, who retired from the Italian national team after the Azzurri failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup. “He could have easily not said anything, but he did say it and I am grateful to have had a teammate who defended me in a moment of difficulty. It’s reasons like that why he’s at a great team today. I wish him well, not tomorrow, but for everything else.” Read more -> https://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2024/8/31/24232984/juventus-thiago-motta-as-roma-2024-serie-a-round-2-preview-summer-transfer-window-comments Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

After a scintillating league start, the home team heads into this heavily-anticipated clash as substantial pre-match favorites. ............ Juventus Next Gen product Samuel Mbangula ran the show against Como before standout striker Dusan Vlahovic took the spotlight. The Serbian superstar netted on either side of halftime at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi to open his account for the season and inspire his side to the best possible start. Unlike Juventus, Roma have stuttered at the beginning of the season. ............ Match Preview Juventus Juventus enter round three having scored 6+ goals for the first time in seven seasons. Motta has seemingly laid the foundation for a new dawn in Turin and looks to be on his way to reinstating the record-time Italian champions as genuine Scudetto contenders after four disappointing years. Another victory looms as Juventus won this corresponding fixture last term by a narrow 1-0 scoreline to extend their unbeaten home run against Roma to four matches (W3, D1). All those three wins saw the Bianconeri keep a clean sheet, which bodes well for their hopes of starting a new league campaign with three straight triumphs ‘to nil’ for the second time in the last 18 Serie A campaigns. More confidence stems from Juventus’ summer dealings. Teun Koopmeiners, Nicolas Gonzalez, and Francisco Conceicao have joined the club during the week, increasing the squad’s potential ahead of their impending Champions League return. ............ Team News In addition to long-term absentee Paul Pogba, Juventus will be without Arkadiusz Milik, Filip Kostic, Khephren Thuram, Timothy Weah, and Conceicao. Koopmeiners and Gonzalez are available for selection and could make their Bianconeri debuts this weekend. ............ Juventus vs Roma Potential Line-ups Juventus (4-2-3-1): Michele Di Gregorio; Nicolo Savona, Federico Gatti, Gleison Bremer, Juan Cabal; Manuel Locatelli, Nicolo Fagioli; Andrea Cambiaso, Kenan Yildiz, Samuel Mbangula; Dusan Vlahovic. Roma (4-2-3-1): Mile Svilar; Zeki Celik, Gianluca Mancini, Evan Ndicka, Angelino; Leandro Paredes, Bryan Cristante; Paulo Dybala, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Matias Soule; Artem Dovbyk. Juventus vs Roma Prediction With momentum on their side, Juventus are in pole position to strengthen their home record against Roma, and we back them to do just that. Socrates 8441 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 134169 messaggi Inviato September 1, 2024 Juventus play out a frustrating 0-0 draw with Roma Juventus played out a goalless draw against Roma at the Allianz Stadium this evening, a result that left the Bianconeri reflecting on missed opportunities. Under the management of Thiago Motta, Juventus entered the match with high hopes after two convincing 3-0 victories to start the season. However, the team struggled to find their rhythm against a resolute Roma defence. The match was marked by a lack of clear chances, with both teams managing only one shot on target throughout the 90 minutes. Juventus dominated possession but failed to convert it into meaningful opportunities, showcasing a frustrating inability to break down Roma’s organised backline. ............ There appeared to be a lack of creativity and ideas at times and this could be an issue against bigger teams ............ Despite the draw, Juventus remains unbeaten in their opening three Serie A matches, sitting on seven points. ............ Socrates 8441 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 134169 messaggi Inviato September 1, 2024 Player Ratings: Juventus 0-0 Roma – defences dominate Juventus–Roma was like a chess game where defences dominated, and lack of intensity led to a 0-0 draw. Central defenders nullified strikers and midfielders didn’t move the ball quickly enough, so a goalless stalemate between Juventus and Roma in Turin was a natural consequence. ............ Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic (5.5) was equally disappointing, but at least he had a shot on target, saved by Mile Svilar in the first half. Central defenders dominated the match, and it’s no coincidence that Juventus and Roma’s centre-backs had the highest ratings: 7 for Federico Gatti, Gianluca Mancini, and Evan N’dicka and 6.5 for Gleison Bremer. JUVENTUS: Di Gregorio 6; Savona 6, Gatti 7, Bremer 6.5, Cabal 6 (46′ Conceiçao 6); Locatelli 6 (67′ Douglas Luiz 6), Fagioli 5.5 (67′ McKennie 6); Cambiaso 5.5, Yildiz 6, Mbangula 5 (46′ Koopmeiners 5.5); Vlahovic 5.5 (82′ Nico Gonzalez). Coach: Thiago Motta 6. Best Juventus player: Gatti 7. The Juventus captain was a solid presence in central defence. Juventus are the only team in Serie A without a goal conceded so far. Lowest Juventus rating – Mbangula 5 – One goal and two assists in the opening two matches. Tonight he didn’t show his pace and quality, but highs and lows are what you must expect from a 20-year-old. Coach: Thiago Motta—6—Juventus didn’t break the deadlock this time. They were slower than against Como and Verona, but they were still pretty solid. ROMA: Svilar 6.5; Celik 5.5, Mancini 7, Ndicka 6.5, Angeliño 6.5; Pisilli 6 (72′ Manu Koné 6), Cristante 6, Pellegrini 5 (82′ Baldanzi N/A); Soulé 5 (61′ Dybala 6), Dovbyk 5 (82′ Shomurodov N/A), Saelmaekers 5.5 (61′ Zalewski).
