Guido Vaciago insists Juventus is on the right path despite their struggles

A Lecce vieni anche tu: Juve in emergenza, chiamata a sorpresa di Motta | Pronto ad entrare nel finale - www.ilposticipo.it

This season has been challenging for Juventus, as they grapple with inconsistency. However, such struggles should not be unexpected, considering the club is working with a new manager and several new players. Despite this, the team continues to push forward, striving to stay competitive. Over time, they are expected to improve as they settle into the season. ............

Some supporters have already voiced frustration with manager Thiago Motta, but it is important to remember that he is only six months into the job. Additionally, the club has made several new signings who still need time to adjust.

Journalist Guido Vaciago shared his thoughts on the situation at Juventus: “Today, Juventus has problems: many injuries, little brilliance in the offensive phase, and some distractions that have cost them precious points. Thiago Motta must invent solutions and Cristiano Giuntoli must prepare them for January: in short, there is a lot of work to do while the opponents (Atalanta and Napoli in particular) are moving quickly.” ............

“In short, the situation at Continassa is not easy. However, there is no sense of nervousness in difficult moments, despite the awareness of the circumstances. In fact, Juventus, in addition to the problems, has a direction, a path decided last spring in the planning phase for the future. There is an economic plan, there is a technical program, and there are comforting signs that the path taken is good. Motta is building.” ............

Is Thiago Motta at risk? Juventus set minimum objective for the season

Thiago Motta

After a promising start to the campaign under Thiago Motta, Juventus have seemingly run out of steam as of late, dropping points left and right in Serie A.

The Bianconeri have yet to taste defeat in the league since the start of the season, but only managed to win six of their 16 fixtures, while settling for draws on the ten remaining occasions. The Italian giants have shared the spoils against several lowly oppositions, including the likes of Empoli, Cagliari, Lecce and most recently Venezia............

Astonishingly, this result occurred only three days following an exhilarating 2-0 win victory of Premier League champions Man City in the Champions League. Therefore, Juve’s form this season has been a genuine conundrum.

Amidst all the chaos, many fans and observers are beginning to voice their frustration with Motta. The young manager arrived in Turin with much fanfare, but has yet to showcase the progressive and fluid style of play he became synanymous with during his sensational stint at Bologna. ............

So does the Italian Brazilian risk losing his job already?

Motta will be peacefully eating his Panettone peacefully, which is an Italian idiom that means the manager will remain in his post at least for Christmas.

As the source explains, the 42-year-old is unlikely to go anywhere in the middle of the season, especially after signing a three-year contract, as the club still considers him at the very center of the project.

However, Motta’s status could drastically change if he fails to qualify for the Champions League at the end of the season. ............

Adani insists Motta has done well so far considering what he inherited

Thiago Motta dopo Juve-Cagliari di Coppa Italia: "Koopmeiners un top" | Gazzetta.it

Lele Adani, a vocal critic of Max Allegri during his tenure at Juventus, has weighed in on the performance of current manager Thiago Motta. Adani was well-known for consistently criticising Allegri’s tactics during his time at the Allianz Stadium, and while Motta has replaced him this season, the results have not shown significant improvement so far. This has led to comparisons between Allegri’s Juventus and Motta’s version of the team, even though Motta has only been in charge for a few months.

Unlike Allegri, who had three years to shape his squad, Motta is still in the early stages of his first season. While Juventus fans and pundits are eager for immediate results, Adani has urged patience. ............

“It’s hard to have faith and trust, but it’s time to have it,” Adani said. “In the initial assessment of the management, in Giuntoli’s head, in my opinion, De Zerbi was also there. In the assessments, in those three-four profiles, in my opinion, he was there too. Motta is the right choice, I’m relaunching on trust. The ground is starting to shake, the fans are tired of these years of failures and were expecting something different. But the way of working and the connection that has been spread is good and remains even in times of difficulty.” ............

Momblano reveals how Thiago Motta answered Al-Khelaifi’s proposal to join PSG

Thiago Motta bacchetta la Juve dopo il pareggio col Cagliari: "Abbiamo fatto tutto noi"

PSG reportedly have a plan to lure Juventus coach Thiago Motta back to the French capital.

The Italian Brazilian joined the Ligue 1 giants in January 2012 and remained at Le Parc des Princes until the end of his playing career in June 2018.

After hanging his boots, the Parisians immediately handed him the reins at the club’s U19 squad, and this is where the 42-year-old first steps into coaching began. ............

According to Juventus insider Luca Momblano, Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi tried to seize the opportunity by convincing the young tactician to jump ship.

The journalist claims that the Qatari businessman called Motta to inquire about his availability at the end of the season, promising him the PSG bench for next term as a replacement for Luis Enrique whose contract with the Ligue 1 champions will expire in June.

Nevertheless, Momblano insists that Motta turned down the offer, as he has fully pledged himself to the new Juventus project and has no intention to leave Turin anytime soon. ............

Juventus midfielder could pay the price for latest Thiago Motta tactical change

Khephren Thuram the best on the pitch for Juventus against Venezia

Juventus coach Thiago Motta is apparently leaning towards a tactical tweak as evidenced by the starting lineup that took the field against Monza on Sunday night. ............

The Italian Brazilian decided to give the returning Nico Gonzalez his first start for over two months, fielding him as an attacking midfielder behind Dusan Vlahovic, with Kenan Yildiz and Francisco Conceicao on the wings.

Therefore, Teun Koopmeiners was moved into a deeper role in the middle of the park, teaming up with Manuel Locatelli in the double pivot.

This new system could impede the chances of Khephren Thuram could now find himself on the bench more often than not, at least if this new tweak were to be confirmed in the coming weeks. ............

Nevertheless, the report believes Motta could go back and forth between the two systems, which could leave an opening for Thuram. In other words, the manager could go with an ultra-attacking approach against the smaller clubs, but could be more cautious against bigger opposition, with the French midfielder returning to support the midfield.

In any case, next Sunday’s contest against Fiorentina should provide a significant indication on how Motta plans to move forward on this front.

Spalletti defends Motta and insists the Juventus manager is not happy with results

Napoli, Thiago Motta fra i preferiti di De Laurentiis per il dopo Spalletti | Sky Sport

Luciano Spalletti has defended Thiago Motta’s tenure as Juventus manager amidst ongoing struggles with consistency. Despite being widely expected to challenge for the Serie A title this season, Juventus has found themselves battling inconsistency, leaving them far from the top of the standings. While Juve has managed to maintain an unbeaten record since the season began, their numerous draws have left fans and pundits questioning their ability to mount a serious challenge for trophies this term. ............

Despite these struggles, Spalletti remains confident in Motta’s abilities and believes the Juventus manager is the right person to guide the club forward. ............

Spalletti said, “I know Thiago Motta well, I know what he preaches from morning to night. You can understand his intentions, he wants a team that plays and wants to develop the whole squad, which is why he often changes formations. The request he makes is to become a relational team, that can command the matches and has the courage to make decisions. He is a well-prepared coach, who will have an important future. I think he is not yet happy with the results achieved so far, especially in relation to what he achieved last year with Bologna.” ............

“Enough” – Gigi Buffon sickened constant comparison that is damaging Juventus

Buffon Slams Italian Media, Cites Thiago Motta as Example

Gianluigi Buffon complains about the comparison between Juventus coach Thiago Motta and his predecessor Max Allegri. ............

But while the 42-year-old was positively welcomed by the fans, his slow start to the campaign has curbed the enthusiasm, especially with the Bianconeri sitting sixth in the Serie A standings after registering a whopping 10 draws in 17 rounds.

Therefore, Motta’s numbers have been constantly compared with Allegri’s over the past few weeks, highlighting that the club has garnered fewer points under the new regime. ............

“When you intervene so deeply, it takes time. Motta is a meticulous, well-prepared coach, accustomed to certain levels. I know him as a teammate, everyone must give him a hand,” said the former Juventus captain.

“Let’s not joke around. Enough with the comparison between Motta and Allegri, it’s neither here nor there. One has won a lot, Thiago is just starting out, so anyone who compares them is driven by the desire to upset the environment.”

“I have great respect for Thiago and I am very confident in what he is building,” concluded Buffon.

Motta walking dangerously close to Allegri’s footsteps as Juventus ‘slip’ again

Thiago Motta identifies what Juventus lacked in 2-2 draw against Fiorentina

Out with the old, in with the new.

This was the mantra that Juventus vigorously promoted last summer. And yet, aside from a set of new faces between the pitch and the dugout, and the lack of outbursts that involve throwing jackests to the ground and grabbing journalists by the throat, one would struggle to spot the difference between the old and what has been deemed as the ‘new’.

First of all, judging Thiago Motta at this stage of this season remains blasphemously premature. After all, the young tactician is still adjusting to life in Turin, while the injury crisis surely hasn’t made matters any easier. Moreover, the lack of experience within his ranks has been painfully obvious, to say the least. ............

This season, it feels as if the Bianconeri are automatically set to retreat to their areas whenever they take the lead, regardless of the timing or the size of the opposition. We even saw this lacklustre approach against bottom-of-the-table Monza and Lecce, even though it has backfired more often than not.

Nevertheless, Juventus fans aren’t unfamiliar with this ultra-cautious method. In fact, this was one of the main reasons why the largest part of the fanbase was demanding Max Allegri’s head by the middle of his chaotic second reign. ............

On the other hand, Motta simply wasn’t born for this approach, and yet, it seems as if Allegri’s spirit is still haunting the walls of Continassa, luring his successor into unfamiliar territory.

And once again, the young tactician has been reminded of the dangers of toying with a one-goal lead when he doesn’t have Giorgio Chiellini and his comrades marshalling the backline, as all that it takes is one little slip – more often figurative but occasionally literal – to burn more points to ashes and leave the club trailing in the miserable 6th place while trying to mask its sorrows with what has to be the most hollow, unimpressive undefeated run in football history. ............

Former Juventus midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi believes Thiago Motta sent a wrong message to the team before a Supercoppa semifinal against Milan: ‘This team doesn’t have the obsession to win.’

Juventus suffered a 2-1 loss against Milan in the Supercoppa semifinal on Friday night. The Bianconeri dominated in the first half, but a Christian Pulisic penalty and a Federico Gatti own goal after the break sent the Rossoneri to the Final against Inter. ............

“I feel that this team doesn’t have the obsession to win,” the former Italy international told Sport Mediaset.

“It divides the fans and the ex-players who have worn that shirt for 11 years. My ex-teammates and I were obsessed with winning, even games in training. This is why hearing Thiago Motta say something like that literally surprised me.”

Tacchinardi spent 11 years in Turin, making 404 appearances with the Old Lady. ............

Juventus legend warns Thiago Motta: “You can’t buy character at the supermarket”

Ultim'ora Juventus, si ferma il titolarissimo: assente contro il Milan in Supercoppa?

Former Juventus winger Franco Causio urges Thiago Motta to bring his A-game in order to succeed in Turin. ............

Moreover, Juve returned early from Riyadh after their disappointing participation in the Italian Super Cup. Despite taking the lead in the first half through Kenan Yildiz, Motta’s men failed to kill off Milan, allowing their opponents to complete a second-half comeback that sent them packing.

Therefore, Causio notes that the team still lacks character – amongst other aspects – but warns Motta that it will be up to him to restore the team’s strong personality, as it isn’t something that can be bought on the market.

“You can’t buy a team’s character at the supermarket, the coach has to bring it to the group, especially if it’s a young team like Juventus,” said the 75-year-old Bianconeri legend.

“Motta needs to do some soul-searching, he’s good and deserves time, but everyone makes mistakes and he still has to grow as a coach.” ............

Franco Causio during his time at Juventus

“I think he’s made some mistakes so far in managing substitutions as well as in giving few certainties with so many rotations when he has more options at his disposal.

“But it’s clear that he has many extenuating circumstances, from injuries onwards, and that it’s right to give him time.”

Luciano Moggi says Motta has not added anything to Juventus

Motta says Milan 'should not' have won against Juve: "They did very little"

Juventus continues to struggle this season, with Thiago Motta yet to deliver the transformative impact expected of him when he was appointed manager at the start of the campaign. After a disappointing three-year spell under Max Allegri, Motta’s arrival was heralded as the beginning of a new and more promising chapter for the club. However, the Brazilian-Italian manager has been unable to reverse their fortunes so far, as the team struggles with inconsistency and poor performances. ............

Former Juventus executive Luciano Moggi has now weighed in on the team’s current struggles, expressing disappointment at Motta’s inability to revitalise the squad. Speaking following the loss to Milan, Moggi stated:

“The other semi-final, Milan-Juventus, was won by Milan, despite both teams going through a difficult period. The substitutions made by the Milan coach were more effective than those of the Juventus coach, who has not brought anything good to his team so far.”

This criticism highlights the growing concerns among fans and pundits about Motta’s suitability for the role. While Juventus brought in new players during the summer, the team has failed to gel under the new manager, and the lack of progress is becoming increasingly apparent. ............

Michelangelo Rampulla urges Juventus to give Motta more time

Thiago Motta fa il punto sugli assenti in casa Juve: il 3 gennaio la Supercoppa

Former goalkeeper Michelangelo Rampulla does not believe it makes sense to sack Thiago Motta halfway through his first season as Juventus manager, despite the struggles the Bianconeri have faced under his leadership. ............

As the season has progressed, the team has struggled to find consistency. Juventus have faced a series of disappointing results, including too many draws that have left them further from the top of the table than they would like. Despite this, some sections of the fanbase and media have begun to question whether Motta is the right man for the job. There have even been suggestions that he should be sacked before the season has even concluded.

Despite the growing pressure, Rampulla believes that it would be premature to make such a decision. He suggests that Motta should be given until the end of the season to prove himself and turn things around. Rampulla said:

“Would you aim for Motta until the end of the season? Yes, without a doubt. It’s not like if you change, you win the championship. It’s a trend that doesn’t work; we need to see at least some peaks. With only draws, you don’t go anywhere.”

Rampulla’s words reflect a common sentiment among many who believe that changing managers halfway through the season would only destabilise the club further. Stability and continuity are crucial, especially for a club like Juventus, who have long been accustomed to success. A mid-season managerial change could result in even more uncertainty, which would be detrimental to the team’s long-term goals. ............

Ex-Juventus coach Fabio Capello believes Thiago Motta must adapt to his player’s characteristics and insists Dusan Vlahovic must be required to score goals rather than link up with the rest of the team, as Joshua Zirkzee does. ............

“I’d never expect Juventus to be so behind, especially considering the club and coach’s firm decisions in the summer, starting with Chiesa’s sale,” Capello said. ............

“The team’s identity is still unclear. They didn’t concede much at the start of the season, but they struggled to score. Now it’s the other way around,” continued Capello.

“The feeling is that the play is too slow and that it’s easy for opponents to find adjustments.” ............

“My advice is: Don’t think only about your idea of football and adapt to the players’ characteristics. The same is true for any other coach, not only Motta”. ............

“Vlahovic is not a link-up striker, which the coach would like,” noted Capello.

“However, he remains one of the best centre-forwards inside the box. The error is to think that Vlahovic can link up with the rest of the team, like Zirkzee. Vlahovic must be required to score goals.” ............

Another underperforming Juventus player is Teun Koopmeiners.

“His performances are not on the same level as his time at Atalanta, but you can see he’s angry, and he’s doing all he can to emerge,” noted Capello.

“For the moment, he goes around the pitch without finding the appropriate position. He would benefit from a goal against his former club to take a bit of pressure off himself.” ............

Calafiori Praises Thiago Motta: “He Changed My Career, I Use His Teachings Even at Arsenal”

Juventus, elogio da brividi per Thiago Motta: "Mi ha cambiato la carriera"

Riccardo Calafiori, the Italian defender who is making a name for himself in the Premier League with Arsenal after a stellar 2023/24 season with Bologna, recently spoke about his experiences. The 22-year-old has adapted quickly to English football and credits his rapid progress to various factors. ............

Regarding his move to Arsenal, Calafiori revealed that manager Mikel Arteta had been in contact with him even before the European Championship. “Arteta and I had been talking for a long time. He told me I had to come to Arsenal, he explained the project to me and what idea he had for me,” the defender explained. ............

The young defender had high praise for his former coach at Bologna, Thiago Motta. “Thiago Motta absolutely changed my career. I thought he could only teach me things I could use at Bologna, but instead, they served me well at the European Championship and here at Arsenal,” Calafiori enthused. ............

Thiago Motta frustrated with Juventus attackers: “I played six, but only one did well”

Thiago Motta

Juventus coach Thiago Motta didn’t like what he saw from his attacking band in the Champions League contest against Club Brugge. ............

For his part, Motta was disappointed with the displays of his attacking options who failed to create much in the attacking third, whether those who started the contest, or the ones that came off the bench in the second half.

The only exception was Samuel Mbangula who did enough against his former employers to earn a decent rating on the manager’s book, although the 21-year-old was hooked in the second half.

“Mbangula was the only one who was decent,” said Motta. “I played six forwards, but only one, Mbangula, did well.

“No one attempted a dribble or tried to attack in depth. Only Mbangula did it. I expected much more from the other five.”

In the middle of the second half, the two wingers were replaced by Kenan Yildiz and Francisco Conceicao, but too little effect, while Dusan Vlahovic came in for Gonzalez in the final stretch, but it was another miserable cameo for the Serbian striker who can’t just catch a break these days.

“Juventus Would Compete for the Scudetto with Conte”: Parolo’s Bold Claim

Conte non le manda a dire e risponde a Thiago Motta: “Non è mai accaduto!”

Former Lazio midfielder Marco Parolo has stirred up debate with his recent comments about Juventus’ potential under Antonio Conte’s leadership. The discussion was sparked by a poll asking viewers where Juventus would be with Conte at the helm.

The poll results revealed diverse opinions among fans: 33% believed Juventus would be leading Serie A, 41% thought they would be in contention for the Scudetto, and 17% placed them in the Champions League zone.

Parolo weighed in on the debate, stating, “In my opinion, they would be fighting for the Scudetto, perhaps even leading the table.”

However, former national team striker Luca Toni offered a more measured view: “Conte makes an impact and could have earned a few more points than Thiago Motta, but two years ago Napoli won the Scudetto. The team needed motivation, and Conte is perfect for making it perform at its best immediately.” ............

Thiago Motta currently has the third-lowest win percentage of any permanent manager in Juventus’s history following the club’s 2-1 loss to Antonio Conte’s Napoli at the weekend. ............

In terms of points won, this is Juventus’s worst start to a campaign in 14 years with just 37 points from their first 22 matches of the 2024-25 season. The Old Lady has not got off to a slower start since 2010-11, when Luigi Delneri oversaw nine wins, eight draws and five losses for a total of 35 points from 22 games.

As things stand, Thiago Motta has a win percentage of 38.71% with Juventus in Serie A. Only two permanent Bianconeri coaches have worse records: Alberto Zaccheroni with 38.10% and Sandro Puppo with 24.19%. ............

L’Equipe: Juventus contact former Barcelona coach – Is Thiago Motta at risk?

Xavi's return to management? Ex-Barcelona boss sounded out by European giants ahead of potential summer move after seven months away from football | Goal.com English Saudi Arabia

A report from France claims Juventus have made contact with Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez, thus raising concerns about Thiago Motta’s future at the club. ............

Juventus are enduring yet another miserable campaign, laying 5th place in the table, 16 points adrift from league leaders Napoli who bested them on Saturday.

So according to L’Equipe, the club’s directors have contacted Motta’s former Barcelona teammate Xavi to enquire about his availability, albeit for a future role rather than an immediate one.

As the source explains, the Serie A giants have no plans to part ways with Motta in the near future, and a mid-season breakup is most probably out of the question barring any extraordinary events.

Nevertheless, the management doesn’t want to be caught off guard at some stage. So if they were to decide to part ways with their current head coach at some point, they would like to have a clear plan in mind. ............

Motta has the players now, will he change his system?

Thiago Motta e Koopmeiners verso la sfida con il Bruges - Juventus

Juventus may still have work to do in the transfer market before the window closes, but they have already made efforts to bolster Thiago Motta’s squad this month. Motta enjoyed a significant transfer budget during the last window. Yet, his team’s performances so far suggest that further improvement is needed if Juventus are to deliver the success their fans crave. ............

In Serie A, Juventus maintained an unbeaten streak until this past weekend when Napoli brought it to an end. The defeat widened the gap between Juventus and the league leaders, raising fresh concerns about the team’s ability to challenge for the title. While injuries to key players hampered their efforts in the first half of the season, the club has responded by strengthening the squad during the January window.

The question now is whether Motta’s current tactical approach can deliver the desired results. His system worked well at Bologna, where he achieved notable success despite limited resources. However, Juventus is a very different proposition, with players of higher calibre and expectations of consistent results. Sticking rigidly to the same tactics he used at Bologna might not bring out the best in this group of players. ............

Juventus has a history of pragmatic management, and the most successful coaches in the club’s history have been those who were willing to adjust their methods to maximise their team’s potential. If Motta can do the same, he has a strong chance of leading Juventus to success. But if he remains too attached to his previous methods, he risks falling short of the high standards expected at a club of this stature.

Francesco Oppini clarifies rumours linking Juventus and Xavi Hernandez

Xavi avvicinato dalla Juventus, ma Thiago Motta non è a rischio esonero: cosa sta succedendo

There have been growing rumours that Juventus is secretly preparing for a potential managerial change, with Xavi Hernandez allegedly being considered as a candidate to replace Thiago Motta if the latter’s struggles continue. Motta has faced significant challenges in his role as Juventus manager, with the team failing to meet expectations despite having some of the best players in Italy in their ranks. Juventus fans, who are accustomed to seeing their team dominate, are growing frustrated with the underwhelming performances this season. ............

Francesco Oppini has weighed in on the rumours, stating that there has been no contact between Juventus and Xavi at this point. According to Oppini, Juventus has no immediate plans to sack Motta, despite the team’s recent struggles. He said: “Xavi has not been contacted by Juventus to date.” ............

Many feel that despite his achievements, Xavi might struggle to lead Juventus to a Serie A title (Scudetto) at this stage. The uncertainty around Motta’s future will continue to dominate discussions, but it seems that for now, Juventus is sticking with their current manager.
