Why Allegri and Giuntoli’s relationship broke down

Allegri e il gesto polemico verso Giuntoli dopo la vittoria della Juve in Coppa Italia

One notable issue at Juventus lately is the breakdown in the relationship between Max Allegri and Cristiano Giuntoli.

When Giuntoli joined the club last summer, he vowed to help Allegri build a team capable of winning trophies.

The club did not make many moves during the summer transfer window, yet Juve still had a very good first half of the campaign. ............

In January, the team had lost Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli, so Max Allegri demanded two midfielders.

He specifically requested Giacomo Bonaventura and Roberto Pereyra, two players who would have cost small fees because their contracts were expiring.

However, the report claims Giuntoli showed up with Carlos Alcaraz late into the transfer window, and that was the beginning of their problems.

Since then, the manager and the sporting director have not been on good terms, and Allegri is set to be dismissed. ............

Why Giuntoli was not present when Juventus sacked Allegri

Allegri via dalla Juve, la pazienza di Giuntoli è finita. Quel precedente dopo la Lazio e la faccia scura del dirigente - Il Fatto Quotidiano

Cristiano Giuntoli was not present when Juventus informed Max Allegri that he had been sacked yesterday.

It is widely believed that Allegri’s departure was triggered by a disagreement with the sporting director, as the two had been at odds for weeks before Allegri was dismissed.

The coach did not feel supported by the sporting director and likely felt isolated as rumours persisted that he would be sacked in the summer. ............

Managing director Maurizio Scanavino was the person who informed Allegri of the board’s decision.

The Bianconeri explained that Giuntoli did not have to carry out that duty because it was not a technical decision but a disciplinary one. ............

Moggi blames Giuntoli for Allegri fiasco: “I took a different approach with Ancelotti”

Moggi consiglia la Juventus: "Non solo Giuntoli, servirebbe un altro acquisto dal Napoli"

Former Juventus sporting director Luciano Moggi criticizes Cristiano Giuntoli for the way he handled the Max Allegri situation. ............

The coach also refused to embrace Giuntoli during the cup celebration ceremony.

Eventually, the club viewed this incident as the perfect alibi to rid themselves of the under-fire manager for behavioral reasons, though the decision to part ways had reportedly been taken a while ago.

For his part, Moggi blamed Giuntoli for the whole incident, believing the latter should have clarified his intention to change the manager a while ago rather than keeping him in the dark.

The 86-year-old feels he had taken the right approach when he informed Ancelotti of his plans to sack him during the 2000/01 campaign.

“I think there was a lack of communication between the parties,” said Moggi in his interview with TgR Piemonte.

“Had Giuntoli said halfway through the season, as I did with Ancelotti at the time, ‘Look, at the end of the campaign our paths will divide’, there wouldn’t have been any reason to make this mess.” ............

Giuntoli to reunite the band – Three collaborators join him at Juventus

La Juventus parlerà marchigiano: in arrivo Stefanelli e Pompilio. Da Vis e Fano al Carpi dei miracoli firmato Giuntoli (passando per Napoli)

Stefanelli e Pompilio

Juventus Football Director Cristiano Giuntoli will reunite with three of his former collaborators this summer. ............

Juventus sporting director Giovanni Manna was the one who set the plans last summer. However, the latter will soon depart to take over at Napoli.

Interestingly, this would set the stage for a swap. with Giuseppe Pompilio leaving the Maradona Stadium to reunite with Giuntoli.

Pompilio is the collaborator that Giuntoli missed the most this season.

The two men worked together at Carpi and Napoli for several years ............

The Bianconeri Football Director is also looking to bring Stefano Stefanelli on board. The latter worked alongside Giuntoli in the past as well and seemed to be one step away from landing in Turin last summer, but eventually ended up signing for Cesena as sporting director.

Nevertheless, his current employers won’t stand in his way, as he could finally make the move to Continassa and take over the scouting department.

Finally, the experienced Michele Sbravati is currently in charge of Genoa’s youth sector, but could soon occupy a similar role at Juventus and oversee the club’s various age groups.

Official – Juventus part ways with sporting director Giovanni Manna

manna.jpg

Juventus have announced the departure of sporting director Giovanni Manna after five years at the club.

The 35-year-old worked at the club’s youth department, beginning with the U19 squad and then Juventus Next Gen.

He also took charge of the first team in January 2023 when sporting director Federico Cherubini was slapped with a lengthy ban alongside other top club officials in the aftermath of the Plusvalenza trial. ............

This season, Manna acted as Giuntoli’s right-hand man for the most part, but has been out of sight recently, with several accounts in the Italian media expecting him to join Napoli at the end of the season. ............

“Giovanni Manna and Juventus are parting ways,” reads the official note

“A mutual agreement was reached for the termination of his contract.

“Manna leaves the club after five seasons, during which time he oversaw the Youth Sector as the Head of the Under-19s team, and then of the Under-23s – now the Next Gen – as Sports Director, with his objective being to work on the growth of the young players in the side.

“We want to take this opportunity to thank Giovanni for the work he has done with the utmost professionalism over the last five years, and wish him the very best of luck for the future.”

Giuseppe-Pompilio-Juventus.jpg

Juventus have officially hired Giuseppe Pompilio to act as right hand man to director Cristiano Giuntoli, reuniting the rapport they had at Napoli.

No formal title has been given to Pompilio yet, as the statement from the Turin club merely noted he will ‘work closely’ with Giuntoli.

They are already very familiar with each other, as they worked together for many years at Napoli and even Carpi before Giuntoli decided to walk away last summer for the new experience at Juve.

Pompilio had wanted to join Giuntoli in June 2023, but was blocked from leaving Napoli by President Aurelio De Laurentiis until his contract expired. ............

Another figure expected to join Juve is Stefano Stefanelli, currently director of sport at Pisa, who also worked with Giuntoli and Pompilio at Carpi and Napoli until 2021.

Giuntoli tried to keep Cherubini at Juventus

Cristiano Giuntoli prende in mano la Juventus: le future mosse del dirigente

Federico Cherubini will leave Juventus at the end of this month after a decade-long tenure at the club. ............

Juve has moved on from the Andrea Agnelli era, with most of the key decision-makers from that time already having left the club.

However, Cristiano Giuntoli wanted to keep Cherubini at the club.

Giuntoli believes Cherubini’s experience and knowledge of the environment could be useful in helping him undertake new projects.

Nevertheless, Cherubini turned him down because he wanted to leave and pursue a new challenge at a different club. ............

Juventus has had a successful transfer window, bringing in players like Nicolas Gonzalez, Khephren Thuram, Douglas Luiz, Teun Koopmeiners, and Michele Di Gregorio, among others. ............

Motta can feel confident that he has been provided with the players he needs to succeed, and few Serie A clubs have outperformed Juve in the transfer market this summer.

“Market Oscar? To Juventus who moved very well. And watch out for Napoli, they will come out well”. ............

Giuntoli discusses Juventus progress as they rebuild for the future

Giuntoli: "Juve da riportare sulla retta via. Abbiamo appena iniziato"

Cristiano Giuntoli is guiding Juventus through a crucial rebuilding phase as the club looks to recover from years of poor decision-making.

Following his outstanding work at Napoli, Juventus appointed Giuntoli as their new sporting director, and he has made a strong start.

Despite limited funds in the last transfer window, Giuntoli accepted the challenge and made tough decisions to help stabilise the club financially.

This summer, he reshaped the team by appointing a new manager, Thiago Motta, and securing key signings for him to work with. ............

Giuntoli said:

“We have just started, we know it is a journey, we are happy with what we have done. We have tried to turn around a club that was losing a lot, putting it on the right path and investing in young players aged 18 to 26, lowering the wage bill, trying to work on the growth of the group and not of the individual”. ............

Cristiano Giuntoli Reveals Juventus Stance on Upcoming Transfer Window

Juventus, Giuntoli: "Bonny ottimo calciatore. Il Napoli parte da un livello differente" - TUTTO mercato WEB

Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli addressed the media in the build-up to last night’s gut-wrenching home draw against Parma. The former Napoli chief executive shared his thoughts on the team’s Scudetto chances and praised Ange-Yoan Bonny.

Recently linked with a move to Juventus, Bonny led the line for Parma last night. However, he failed to add to his three-goal Serie A haul. ............

He’s a good player,” Giuntoli was cryptic when asked to deliver an update on Juve’s rumored interest in the 21-year-old forward. ............

We work every day while waiting for January,” Giuntoli said as he recalled the enthralling Derby d’Italia. “It could have gone worse, but it could have also gone better. The team never gave up, sometimes succeeding, other times less so.” ............

The championship has just started, and there’s still a long way to go,” the Juventus chief said. “We’ve been using the same players frequently for many matches, and now all teams can be formidable. It won’t be an easy journey. We need to grow; we’re a very young team. Our ambitions develop as we progress.

Striker or defender? Giuntoli reveals primary Juventus objective in January

Giuntoli annuncio shock “ARRIVA UN DIFENSORE A GENNAIO “ Udinese Juventus 0-2

Due to their current injury woes, Juventus will resort to the market in January, and the club’s football director Cristiano Giuntoli revealed which position is considered the ultimate priority. ............

Vlahovic has been Thiago Motta’s only available striker, forcing him to start every single match thus far this season.

As for the defense, Gleison Bremer’s season-ending ACL injury was a massive blow for the club. Motta’s backline hasn’t been the same afterwards, with Danilo particularly struggling for form.

Although Juventus earned a clean sheet yesterday against Udinese, Giuntoli still intends on bolstering the defense as he revealed ahead of the contest. ............

“Our market objective? A central defender, more than a striker,” said the 52-year-old in his pre-match interview.

“Vlahovic’s backup? We have the possibility of playing others, like Nico Gonzalez who is out now. Yildiz too. Milik can also give a hand when he returns.” ............

“It’s premature to talk about Skriniar now. At the moment, we are not making any moves as it’s still early. We are waiting and seeing what will happen.”

How much Juventus will save from terminating Pogba’s contract?

Juve, Pogba è perso: ecco le mosse di Giuntoli per un nuovo centrocampista|Mercato | Calciomercato.com

Juventus and Paul Pogba have reportedly agreed to terminate his contract, with only an official announcement pending. This decision comes after the French midfielder received a reduced doping ban of 18 months, allowing him to return to action as early as March. Despite this development, Juventus has made it clear they no longer wish to retain Pogba, regardless of his willingness to stay or accept a reduced salary. ............

Juventus stands to save approximately €30 million by terminating his contract. His deal, which included a base salary and significant bonuses, reportedly cost the club up to €10 million annually. This financial relief will free up resources for the club as it continues to manage its wage bill amid other pressing priorities. ............

The decision to sever ties reflects Juventus’ pragmatic approach under their current management, which has prioritised financial stability and squad efficiency. ............

Giuntoli hopes to take advantage of his PSG relationship to sign Skriniar

Juve, Giuntoli: "Skriniar? Ci stiamo guardando intorno"

Juventus remains strongly focused on signing Milan Skriniar in the upcoming January transfer window, identifying him as a key target to strengthen their defensive line. With the recent exits of Juan Cabal and Gleison Bremer leaving gaps in their backline, the Bianconeri urgently need a dependable centre-back for the second half of the season. Skriniar, currently struggling for game time at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has emerged as an attractive option.

The Slovakian defender joined PSG from Inter Milan with high expectations but has found minutes hard to come by under Luis Enrique. ............

Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is optimistic about the negotiations, citing his strong working relationship with PSG’s management as a potential advantage. Giuntoli is reportedly confident that PSG might be willing to assist in the financial aspect, enabling Juventus to complete the move in January. ............

Giuntoli visited Manchester on a mission to sell two Juventus midfielders

Juve, Della Valle: 'Missione di Giuntoli è vendere, i sacrificabili sono Fagioli e Luiz'

Juventus Football Director Cristiano Giuntoli was reportedly in Manchester in an attempt to find buyers for two midfielders.

The Bianconeri are now bracing themselves for what should be an eventful January transfer session. Despite the lack of funds, the club must embark on the market to reinforce Thiago Motta’s squad which has been decimated by injuries.

The Serie A giants will be looking to buy a defender and a striker, or perhaps two defenders if Arkadiusz Milik makes a successful return from injury by January. ............

The Juventus director is on a mission to sell either Nicolo Fagioli or Douglas Luiz in order to raise transfer funds.

The Italy international started the campaign on a promising note but has been recently relegated to the bench, with Thiago Motta finding the right balance with Manuel Locatelli, Khephren Thuram and Teun Koopmeiners.

On the other hand, Juventus splashed 50 million euros to sign Luiz from Aston Villa last summer, but the Brazilian has yet to adjust to life in Italian football, and has been nursing an injury for over a month. ............

Moreover, a recent report claimed, the Red Devils might be interested in exchanging Zirkzee with Douglas Luiz. ............

Juventus Director Giuntoli: “Antonio Silva is an Interesting player…..”

A Bola - Juventus avvertita, Antonio Silva è incedibile: serve una cifra monstre per liberarlo dal Benfica | Goal.com Italia

Cristiano Giuntoli, the Football Director of Juventus, recently shared insights regarding the club’s current situation and future plans during the Gran Galà del Calcio AIC event.  ............

Reflecting on the ongoing season, Giuntoli remarked, “This is a particular year for us. We have many absences, and we are relying on the qualities of our group. Our declared goal is to finish in the top four. We are aiming for a different style of play. Paradoxically, despite everything, we are content.”

On the upcoming January transfer window, Giuntoli expressed interest in Benfica’s Antonio Silva, stating, “Antonio Silva is an interesting player among others. In January, no one shows their cards; we need to be careful and vigilant.” This indicates that Juventus is actively considering bolstering their squad with new talent. ............

Moggi: “Juventus not ready for the Scudetto, Here are Giuntoli and Thiago Motta’s mistakes”

Juventus, Thiago Motta boccia 7 giocatori: c'è una sorpresa. Foto

Luciano Moggi, the former general manager of Juventus, recently shared his views on the current state of the club. In an interview, Moggi commented on Juventus’ performance, highlighting the challenges they face and pointing out specific errors made by Cristiano Giuntoli and Thiago Motta.

“At this moment, Juventus is difficult to judge,” Moggi stated. “They started a new project in July, and it takes time; a team isn’t built in five months or even a year. Injuries have greatly complicated things, but once the emergency ends, results will improve.”

Discussing the team’s prospects, Moggi remarked, “Juventus is not equipped to win the Scudetto. The objective can be fourth place because three teams—Napoli, Atalanta, and Inter—are stronger. It won’t be easy to achieve, but it’s within reach if Vlahovic and Gonzalez can recover soon.” ............

“Errors have been made. Giuntoli should not have bought Douglas Luiz; he would have been better off staying in the Premier League. Thiago Motta errs by playing Koopmeiners too far forward with his back to goal, where he is less effective. ............

“More than one adjustment is needed; it seems this team lacks leaders. Bremer was one such leader but unfortunately will return next year due to a severe injury. ............ I would sell Douglas Luiz instead of Fagioli, who has shown in the past to be an excellent player.”

Juventus CFO Giuntoli: Conceiçao staying “100%”

Giuntoli svela in diretta il futuro di Conceicao: "Resta al cento per cento"

Cristiano Giuntoli, Chief Football Officer of Juventus, spoke before the Champions League match against Manchester City, addressing several key topics regarding the club’s current situation and future plans.

Giuntoli expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating, “We always want to do more and better. We’re pleased that Motta doesn’t cling to excuses, but objectively, many things have happened. We’re holding on a bit longer and waiting for some players to return. We think little about the outside, only about ourselves. We’ve seen an extraordinary attitude from the boys; they’re giving everything.” ............

Addressing rumors about Conceiçao’s future, Giuntoli was unequivocal: “The relationships with Conceiçao and his agent are excellent; we want him to stay with us. The probability that he stays with us? 100%.” This statement comes amid speculation about the player’s future, with Juventus set to pay an additional €30 million in the summer to make the loan permanent, following the initial €7 million loan fee. ............

Giuntoli provides updates on Milik’s recovery, weighs in on Man United striker

INTERVISTA GIUNTOLI PRE JUVENTUS VS VENEZIA :"Daremo tutto per vincere, contento dei giovani"

Juventus Director of Football Cristiano Giuntoli revealed when he expects Arkadiusz Milik to make his return to action.

The Polish striker has been ruled out by an injury since June, preventing him from participating in Euro 2024. While the Bianconeri were hoping to have him at Thiago Motta’s disposal by October, he still felt pain in the knee, which warranted another surgery. ............

Nevertheless, Giuntoli has once again ruled out any January reinforcement for the attacking department, as the club expects Milik to make his return in a matter of weeks, but will instead focus on signing a new defender.

“At the moment we are not thinking about selling but about inserting something in defense. We want to keep everyone and do something at the back and wait for everyone to return,” said the 52-year-old in his interview ahead of Saturday’s contest against Venezia which ended in a disappointing 2-2 draw.

“Milik has started to play a bit, we are happy, the knee is not causing problems. But he will recover in 15-20 days.” ............

“We are waiting for Milik, Zirkzee is very good but he plays for another team. I cannot say anything else and we are thinking about something completely different.” ............
