Arek Milik’s arrival at Juventus early into the 2022-23 season didn’t result in bombastic headlines or anything close to it. He was not a big-money arrival by any means, with a loan deal sort of a “prove it” kind of move considering that the club he had been at the previous 18 months, Marseille, were happy to let him leave. Ten months later, Juve are happy to keep him around a little while longer. Juventus announced Wednesday that they have made Milik’s loan move into a permanent one, agreeing to a deal with Marseille that could be worth up to €7 million total. The initial transfer fee will be €6.3 million with another €1.1 million in appearance-related bonuses. This is just ahead of the deadline that Juventus had to make the deal permanent at the end of the month, with the 29-year-old Milik signing a shiny new contract through 2026. Milik scored just one goal in his final 17 appearances in all competitions of the season, a span of time that goes all the way back to late January. In total, Milik scored seven goals in 27 Serie A appearances spanning nearly 1,600 minutes. What Milik’s role come the 2023-24 season is still very much a question mark on this point considering who may or may not be leaving Juventus over the next six weeks. As a depth option, having Milik around makes a whole lot of sense. But if Milik is going to be starting more games than he doesn’t, then that’s where Juve could be in trouble — and would likely be a sign that the guy who he was originally brought in to back up is probably not around anymore. That very much remains to be seen. For now, though, we know this: Milik is a Juventus player and 100% that. No more loan. It’s permanent now. The Bianconeri have placed a host of their stars on the transfer list, as they’ve been deemed surplus to requirements by the club’s new head coach Thiago Motta. ........... The Pole striker is thus expected to leave before the end of the month, making room for the arrival of a new attacker who can serve as an understudy for Dusan Vlahovic. ............ The 30-year-old joined Juventus on loan from Olympique Marseille in the summer of 2022 before making his move permanent last summer. Milik has been sidelined since suffering an injury while playing for Poland at Euro 2024. Despite being one of the first-team players Juventus has deemed surplus to requirements, the club is now reconsidering his status. This change comes after the sale of Moise Kean and their inability to secure a new striker in recent weeks. However, this doesn’t mean Milik is off the market. Juventus is willing to sell him if the right offer comes along. AC Milan is particularly interested, as they seek a backup striker for Álvaro Morata. ............ Socrates 8330 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 133128 messaggi Inviato Mercoledì alle 17:24 Juventus now have a date for the return of Arkadiusz Milik Juventus is facing a critical shortage in its striker department as injury concerns mount. Arkadiusz Milik, who has been sidelined since the summer due to injury, was initially expected to make his comeback within two months of the season’s start. However, a setback in his recovery has extended his absence, with the latest reports suggesting he won’t be available until late December or even January. This situation has become even more concerning with Dusan Vlahovic joining the injury list. ............ The Bianconeri had chosen to retain Milik while selling Moise Kean earlier in the season, a decision that now appears questionable given the current predicament. Without Milik and potentially Vlahovic, Juventus is staring at a significant problem in attack, particularly with the January transfer window still over a month away. ............ Juventus is reportedly unwilling to rush Milik’s recovery, prioritising his long-term fitness over a quick return. This measured approach, while prudent, leaves the team vulnerable in the immediate future. The potential unavailability of their primary attacking options could force Juventus to improvise tactically. Manager Thiago Motta might have to explore alternative solutions, such as deploying wingers or attacking midfielders in central roles to compensate for the lack of strikers. ............ .
