The Bianconeri needed a victory to go into the break for international duty as Serie A leaders, following Inter’s win at Hellas Verona, and they achieved it with substitute Paulo Dybala’s moment of magic against Milan. Sarri raised eyebrows by substituting Cristiano Ronaldo after just 55 minutes, days after replacing him against Lokomotiv Moscow, a decision CR7 did not seem happy with. “We must thank Ronaldo, because he made a sacrifice to be there at all tonight in a difficult situation. He did everything possible to play, but I saw he was not well and thought it best to take him off,” Sarri told Sky Sport Italia. “It’s only natural a player is going to be irritated to leave the pitch, especially when he worked so hard to be there. Over the last month, he has had this little knee problem, he had a knock in training and it hurt the collateral ligament. When he trains at high intensity or plays, it unbalances him, so he ends up overcompensating and it damages the calf and thigh muscles. “It is affecting his performances and he is not at his best at the moment. All players who are trying to give their best will have at least five minutes of being annoyed when they are substituted, but a coach would in general be much more worried if he didn’t seem upset.” Juventus are top of the table again, but once more they only managed to win by a one-goal margin. “I liked the spirit of the team, but we have to improve immensely in terms of quality, as we made too many mistakes, gave the ball away cheaply and opened up spaces for Milan. The hunger and determination to win is what kept us going. “Milan had shots on goal, but they were almost all efforts from outside the penalty area. They have impressive passing quality, played clearly above their average performance level of this season and have strong technique. “Gonzalo Higuain isn’t scoring as much as he did in the past, but he is working hard to help the defence, combines better with his teammates and is always ready for the assist.” 1 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Juve caused shockwaves in the gaming industry over the summer as it emerged EA Sports had lost the rights to use the club’s licence in FIFA 20. Now, Calcio e Finanza reports the Bianconeri will not officially be included in Football Manager 2020, due to be released on November 19. Instead, they will go under the guise ‘Zebre’, which refers to the Old Lady’s black-and-white stripes. Juve are referred to in the latest version of FIFA as ‘Piemonte Calcio’, named after the region they are based in. However, like the EA Sports title, Sports Interactive will be allowed to use Maurizio Sarri’s squad as normal. Konami’s deal with the Scudetto holders this season mean they will only appear as Juventus on Pro Evolution Soccer. 1 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Platini has been a long-time critic of VAR, and he appeared on Itallian television last night to reaffirm his stance on the technology. “You need half an hour to explain why it won’t solve anything,” he said during an episode of Che tempo che fa, promoting his new book ‘The King is Naked’. “I’m against VAR, I think it’s rubbish and we’ll unfortunately never come back from it.” The Frenchman was banned from football in 2015, when he was still UEFA President, after he received a ‘disloyal’ payment from then-FIFA chief Sepp Blatter. However, he is now free to work in the sport again, and he confirmed he was seeking “one last adventure”. “At 64, I’ve got time for one last adventure, but I can’t make a mistake, I really have to think about it. “I suffered for a month, then I thought about how to defend myself. “After being acquitted by a Swiss court, I now have the opportunity to explain how things went down.” 1 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The letter, which has reportedly been traced back to Florence, contained a rifle cartridge and a threatening letter directed at the former Juventus coach with the text “we know where you live and who your daughter is.” La Stampa reports that the local police in Milan has been in touch with Conte and he doesn’t recognise the writing, nor the content particularly reminding him of anyone. The letter contained an eight-gauge cartridge, mainly used for hunting, and could be tracked back to Florence by the authorities. There’s a possible supporter of an opposing team, who is annoyed by the Inter side and their good performances this term, but also one from the Nerazzurri who doesn’t approve of his past in Turin. The fact Pintus, formerly of Juventus and Real Madrid, was also mentioned would suggest it is a grudge about their Bianconeri past. The letter contained writing in black, listing the names of his family members and the text: “We know where you live… We know who your daughter is.” However, the letter was sent to the Inter HQ and not directly to Conte's home, which suggests the information about his address is incorrect. The police are investigating and will be analysing the document for fingerprints. Il Giorno reports that the first investigations aren’t connecting it to the world of the ultras, but rather a disgruntled individual seeking attention. This shouldn't come as a surprise, as Maurizio Sarri stated during his press conference that the No 7 in all probablity wouldn't make the trip due to the same injury that caused him to be taken off against Milan two weeks ago. Now it's official that Ronaldo has been left at home to recuperate, with an eye on Juve's game against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday. Other absentees include Adrien Rabiot and Alex Sandro, both of whom are suffering from injuries, but Miralem Pjanic and Blaise Matuidi have returned. On the Twitter account 'La Maglia Bianconera', the first photos of the kits for next season have been revealed. As one would expect, the home kit features the white base with black stripes. However, as opposed to this season's, the details on the shirt are gold. The away kit features a darker blue compared to the current one, with white details. The third kit is a bit crazy, featuring an orange base with a pattern of black spots, certainly attracting attention. Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The pair have since come back in contact and the former Napoli boss made it clear he had no reason to sit down with his No 7. “There’s no need to clarify anything with Ronaldo. Certain players need to be left to cool off,” he said at a Press conference. On the other hand, the 60-year-old did concede the forward had returned from international duty with the same issue that saw him controversially subbed off against Milan. “The problem is that, on Tuesday, he told us that he was still not feeling good. “Our objective is to have him back for the Champions League. I’m 99 percent sure he won’t make it tomorrow.” Sarri also announced Miralem Pjanic and Blaise Matuidi would be fit for the trip to Bergamo but cast doubt over Adrien Rabiot and Juan Cuadrado. “There are some players with a few issues. Alex Sandro’s problem is less serious than we initially feared, whilst [Adrien] Rabiot has a problem with his adductor. “[Juan] Cuadrado is struggling with pain in his back, but [Miralem] Pjanic will be available. “[Blaise] Matuidi is in some pain, but his character will get him through it. It kicks off at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo at 14.00 GMT. Gian Piero Gasperini’s men avoided defeat in all three encounters with Juve last season, drawing twice in Serie A and crushing the reigning trophy holders 3-0 in the Coppa Italia quarter-final. However, Juve haven’t lost to La Dea in Serie A since February 2001, emerging with 23 wins and six draws. They are once again pushing to finish in the Champions League places, although they have had difficulties juggling both tournaments. Josip Ilicic and Ruslan Malinovskyi are suspended, but Duvan Zapata is still not even in the squad over six weeks after his serious thigh injury in Colombia. He scored seven goals in nine competitive games before that setback and they’ve never quite been the same without him. Luis Muriel is not 100 per cent fit either after returning late from international duty with Colombia. Papu Gomez and Mario Pasalic therefore support Musa Barrow, who turned 21 only last week and has only four Serie A goals in 38 appearances. This is his first start since a 6-2 victory away to Sassuolo in December 2018. Juventus have left Cristiano Ronaldo at home to recuperate after reaching 99 goals for Portugal. Alex Sandro and Giorgio Chiellini are also out of action, so Mattia De Sciglio shifts over to left-back, but Miralem Pjanic is fit to start despite a muscular issue on international duty with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Aaron Ramsey scored twice to help Wales reach Euro 2020, but is rested in favour of Federico Bernardeschi as the trequartista behind Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala. La Dea avoided defeat in three meetings with Juve last season, including a 3-0 Coppa Italia quarter-final triumph, but haven’t beaten them in Serie A since 2001. Josip Ilicic and Ruslan Malinovskyi were suspended, with Duvan Zapata still injured and Luis Muriel not at 100 per cent, so Musa Barrow got his first start of the season. The Bianconeri left Cristiano Ronaldo at home to recuperate, with Alex Sandro and Giorgio Chiellini out of action. Berat Djimsiti nodded just over on an early corner and Gonzalo Higuain was booked for leaving his foot in as Pierluigi Gollini came rushing out to clear. Atalanta were awarded a penalty after 17 minutes when Papu Gomez’s flick was intercepted by Sami Khedira’s arm. However, Barrow went to take and the 21-year-old fired it on to the crossbar, with Mario Pasalic unable to turn in the rebound, as La Dea’s poor record from the spot continues. It was the fourth penalty awarded against Juventus in Serie A this season, the most in an entire top flight campaign since five in 2014-15. The hosts kept pushing and Wojciech Szczesny needed a spectacular fingertip save on Pasalic’s header at the far post. Moments later, he got down at full stretch to push away a Gomez low cross-shot, Mattia De Sciglio’s desperate block preventing the Hans Hateboer tap-in. Federico Bernardeschi went off after a knock to the ribs left him struggling the breathe, making way for Aaron Ramsey. Atalanta continued to pour forward, Matthijs de Ligt twice intercepting dangerous Gomez crosses for Pasalic and Barrow. The 21-year-old had time and space to use his speed against defenders, but instead snatched at the shot from a long way out, making it easy for Szczesny. The hosts finally took a deserved lead on 56 minutes, as Barrow was struggling badly with his finishing, but floated a great cross to the back stick for unmarked Robin Gosens to nod in. Luis Muriel came on and should’ve scored on a Gomez pass, but De Ligt was again back there for a decisive block from 12 yards. Gomez was running riot and hit it low and hard across the six-yard box, so Szczesny had to get it under control. Dybala was the only one creating chances for Juve, his slalom beat four defenders, but the fifth was too many. Juventus did equalise with a chaotic move. Douglas Costa wreaked havoc, Jose Luis Palomino’s clearance hit Higuain, who managed to spin round and his shot took a deflection off Rafael Toloi to wrong-foot Gollini. It was Pipita’s 10th Serie A goal against Atalanta in eight different games. Muriel stung Szczesny’s gloves from distance, while there was an on-field VAR review for another potential handball. This time, Emre Can had his arm in front of his face and it was deflected off his shin first, so the referee ruled against a spot-kick. Moments later, Juventus took the lead amid more controversy. Cuadrado landed with his hand on the ball during a sliding tackle in the build-up to the goal, then the Colombian pulled back from the by-line for Higuain to fire in from 10 yards. Atalanta protested and demanded an on-field review, but the VAR officials could not intervene, as both teams played the ball before that move developed into a goal. Dybala rounded out his excellent performance with a solo goal in stoppages. La Joya got away on the counter and shimmied past defenders to slide his finish into the near bottom corner through the tiniest of gaps. Atalanta: Gollini; Toloi, Palomino, Djimsiti; Hateboer, De Roon, Freuler (A Traore 85), Gosens (Castagne 71); Pasalic; Gomez, Barrow (Muriel 57) Juventus: Szczesny; Cuadrado, Bonucci, De Ligt, De Sciglio; Khedira (Emre Can 69), Pjanic, Bentancur (Douglas Costa 58); Bernardeschi (Ramsey 26); Higuain, Dybala Ref: Rocchi Missed penalty: Barrow 17 (A) Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

However, Sarri made it clear there was nothing to add to the ongoing media circus. “I don’t know about the news that circulates in Turin, let alone in Spain,” he said at a press conference. “My relationship with the player is good, then if someone gets angry about being substituted, it’s a positive thing, especially if they have won everything and still have such great motivation. “As I have said for 25 years now, I understand why players get angry about being substituted so it doesn’t make me feel hot or cold.” Gonzalo Higuain scored a brace and Paulo Dybala netted the third against Atalanta in a 3-1 victory, but the former Napoli boss maintained the trio did not have the “characteristics” to play together. “It’s difficult. It’s only because of their characteristics. Gonzalo is a pure striker and Cristiano is the best centre-forward in the world, but he starts from the left and Dybala is not really a No 10, he is a forward too. “In certain situations it’s clear that we are willing to do anything, but [playing them all at once] would be enforced. “We still have three very strong forwards competing for two positions and it seems ideal because none of the three will be able to play all the games and you are already seeing that they are getting games during the first part of the season. “Dybala is someone who plays football in a fantastic way, so he gets on well with anyone else who can play football. Both Higuain and Cristiano can play football.” Even though the Old Lady are already through to the last 16 of the Champions League, Sarri is not willing to step on the brakes when Atletico Madrid visit tomorrow. “If we were to play to not lose or to draw, we would be taking lots of risks so we’ll play without making those calculations. “Atletico have been changing lately, they are dribbling more, looking to play a different game than they did before. They are a difficult team to face, so it will be a complex match. “It also will be [complex] mentally because if we think we’ve already qualified, we’ll be dead before the game even starts. “We must think that it’s crucial to take top spot, otherwise they will have much more motivation than us.” “Atletico play in a difficult League, against Barcelona and Real Madrid. Every year they manage to be effective and win something, so we can only applaud them.” The 60-year-old’s reign so far has been more evolution than revolution, leading some to accuse him of playing things too safe... “I was defined as a Taliban because I always wanted to play my football, now it’s not good enough because I adapt to the different characteristics of my players. “If I had to listen to or read the things that are said about Juventus, I would go crazy. I just get on with my work. “I would like to see the most consistent team and certain attitudes, but we must take into consideration the different characteristics of our players. ’We will improve in many aspects, but you can’t go for your personal taste and against the characters you already have. ’The team must be accompanied by implementing ideas, and we have real room for improvement. ’Right now, we are only showing flashes of what we feel we can achieve and we would like to show them more consistently. The two sides lock horns tomorrow night with Juve already through, although Atleti will want to make sure they qualify for the last 16 too with a win. However, the Spaniards will face a familiar foe in Ronaldo, who has scored 22 times against them in all competitions with Real Madrid and the Old Lady. “We are on a good run of form, but we want to improve in front of goal. We want to be more consistent,” remarked Simeone. “We must face every game at our best and try to win every match.” “Ronaldo is a champion, he always makes us suffer. He is a champion, No 1, extraordinary. ”He has so many different ways to make the difference.” Los Colchoneros were knocked out of last season’s Champions League by a CR-inspired Bianconeri, but Maurizio Sarri and not Max Allegri is now at the helm... “It is too soon to make judgments, we will see come May,” continued the coach. “However it is clear that Juve have many great players who can play in many roles. I have no doubts they will be up there this year, like last year.” Joao Felix is making his return after a long injury layoff, so how does Simeone assess the 19-year-old? “Unfortunately he has been injured, so he is only just back with us. It kicks off at the Allianz Juventus Stadium at 20.00 GMT. The Portuguese superstar has all eyes on him after a turbulent period, but he returned from international break with four goals in two games. He was left out against Atalanta, but should be back when his old rivals travel from Madrid to Turin. Maurizio Sarri is adamant that the three forwards can’t play together, which could mean that Dybala is rested, as Gonzalo Higuain is on top form after bagging a brace in Bergamo last weekend. Wojciech Szczesny is expected between the sticks, behind Leonardo Bonucci and Matthijs de Ligt, who’s looking to build on his revival after a critical start to the season. De Ligt dislocated his shoulder against Atalanta, but was able to play on and received treatment. It’s expected that Rodrigo Bentancur will get the nod next to Miralem Pjanic and Blaise Matuidi in the middle, whilst Juan Cuadrado and Mattia De Sciglio should again be the full-backs. Aaron Ramsey came off the bench against Atalanta, but he may well continue to play behind the strikers in a 4-3-1-2 formation, seeing as the Welsh midfielder is going through a period of consistency in his performances. Atletico Madrid are coming to Turin to revenge their last 16 defeat from last season and the superstar Joao Felix is giving coach Diego Simeone some headaches before the all-important fixture at the Allianz Stadium. The young star has been struggling with an ankle injury, but should be able to return on Tuesday night – forming a partnership with Alvaro Morata up front. Saul Niguez should be back and the same goes for Thomas Partey – even if Angel Correa has played the last seven games in his absence. Former Tottenham star Kieran Trippier is expected to appear at right-back, whilst Renan Lodi will get the nod on the left when Simeone is expected to turn up with an old fashioned 4-4-2 in Turin. Juventus (probable): Szczesny; Cuadrado, Bonucci, De Ligt, De Sciglio; Bentancur, Pjanic, Matuidi; Ramsey; Higuain, Cristiano Ronaldo Atletico Madrid (probable): Oblak; Trippier, Gimenez, Savic, Lodi; Lemar, Saul, Partey, Koke; Morata, Joao Felix Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The Bianconeri were already qualified for the Round of 16, but this was a head-to-head for top spot in the group. Cristiano Ronaldo returned after he was rested at the weekend, sending Gonzalo Higuain to the bench, while Aaron Ramsey took the trequartista role. Matthijs de Ligt started despite dislocating his shoulder on Saturday, as Douglas Costa, Alex Sandro, Adrien Rabiot and Giorgio Chiellini were injured. Atleti had Joao Felix back after a dislocated ankle for his first start since October 19, partnering ex-Juventus striker Alvaro Morata. These sides famously clashed last season, Ronaldo’s hat-trick overturning a first leg defeat for a 3-0 home victory. Dybala completed a give-and-go with Ramsey to test Jan Oblak, as Juve seemed to be focusing on quick one-touch football, something we’ve seen precious little of from Maurizio Sarri. Saul Niguez turned a free header surprisingly off target, then Wojciech Szczesny spilled his daisy-cutter, only to scramble it back under control before a tap-in. Dybala was eager to show his skills and a sensational back-heel flick forced Mario Hermoso into a bookable offence to stop him. The deadlock was broken thanks to a moment of sheer magic from La Joya. Rodrigo Bentancur earned a free kick on the outside edge of the box, at the by-line. It seemed impossible to score from that angle, but Dybala steered his free kick into the far top corner to stun Oblak. After the restart, Saul Niguez’s chest and half-volley on a corner was straight at Szczesny, while Joao Felix drilled wide, but substitute Federico Bernardeschi’s low strike from the edge of the box bounced off the base of the near post with Oblak beaten. Atletico Madrid started to increase the pressure as the game went on and Angel Correa seemed certain to score when sent clear by Joao Felix, but De Ligt came sliding in like a train to take it off his foot with a last-ditch tackle. There was a scare deep into stoppages, as Alvaro Morata failed to tap in a ball flashed across the six-yard box, but he seemed to be offside anyway. I feel in good shape, I try to give my best and at times can risk something a little more audacious, as things are going well for me and I want to make the most of that.” Dybala had two different celebrations, one pointing to his chin, then almost a military salute to Turkey international Merih Demiral. “The first gesture to the chin is for my girlfriend, as we saw it in a film and it was the sign for love. As for Demiral, he’s great fun and it was just a joke between us in the dressing room, there was no message in that.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The Bianconeri only needed a draw this evening to lock down the top spot in their group, but took all three points thanks to a magnificent Dybala free kick from the tightest of angles. “We used up a lot of energy this evening, as is inevitable in the Champions League. I think we did very well, but like the Atalanta match at the weekend, we had to fight very hard to achieve the victory,” Sarri told Sky Sport Italia. “It was above all a great first half and we built on that. We tend to struggle more in Serie A to pass it around quickly. Perhaps there is more motivation for us in the Champions League, but that is a mistake, because we have to play this style of football in every tournament. “I was angry in the second half, as we gave the ball away cheaply. The sensation was that, just like Atalanta, we allowed them to cross too much. Maybe we need to improve the intensity with which we close down these crosses and passes in wide areas.” Cristiano Ronaldo returned to the side and played all 90 minutes, so has the knee problem been resolved? “I haven’t spoken to him yet about the pain in his knee, but he looked to be in good shape, as in the final stages he was tracking back, fighting hard and helping out in defence. “Dybala is world class, in a very positive period of form, so right now he is making the difference.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

We can still improve our style of football.” De Ligt was again asked about the suggestions in Holland that he regrets choosing Juve over Barcelona. “When you arrive at a club as important as Juve, there is pressure, but I wouldn’t be here if I couldn’t handle it. I had to adapt to a new system, but I am satisfied with the way things are going. “I want to enjoy this moment, I am satisfied and very happy to be here.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

It kicks off on Sunday at 11.30 GMT, click here for a match preview. The first question was somewhat inevitably about Ronaldo and whether he would be rested in Serie A after the midweek Champions League win over Atletico Madrid. “Cristiano is an immense resource. He has stamina, but perhaps lacks a little in sharpness right now, which is only to be expected,” replied Sarri in his press conference. “We have three forwards of enormous potential, so we always expect a great deal from them. Cristiano trained well, partly with the team and partly in a separate routine, but he is available. All great strikers get irritable if they don’t score goals and I think it is a healthy attitude. “Look, clearly Ronaldo is not a player like all the others, no matter what you’re supposed to say. Not all players are the same. If someone were to not accept that situation, it’d be a problem for them and not for the team, but I see no such issues. Everyone is crystal clear.” Paulo Dybala has been on sparkling form of late, with Gonzalo Higuain also impressive, so when will Sarri try all three forwards together? “We haven’t had time to perform experiments, as we play every three days. It’s problematic, as to have them we’d need one centre-forward and two wingers, which is not the situation here.” Sarri was also asked about reports Lionel Messi has won the Ballon d’Or for 2019. “I don’t know who is going to win. I’d hope it would be Ronaldo, because he is extraordinary. I also hope Matthijs de Ligt can contend for the young players’ award and that in future Dybala can have a real shot at the trophy. Having said that, no offence to all of you, I care very little about individual awards and even less so about ones assigned by journalists.” With regards to De Ligt, is it a coincidence that his performances have improved exponentially since Andrea Barzagli joined the coaching staff? “Clearly, Barzagli is a precious resource for us and can teach him so much in terms of individual and collective tactics. We play every three days, so there isn’t much time for training, but he can sit down for 15 minutes and watch video examples with Barzagli. “Aside from that, De Ligt is also adapting to the style of football we have in Italy and he’s settling in, which was always going to be the process.” Sassuolo coach Roberto De Zerbi has been compared with Sarri, as they have a similar approach to possession and quick passing. “This is a very dangerous match that arrives in a period where we’ve used up a lot of mental energy lately. Sassuolo deserve to be much higher than they are in the table and create plenty of chances on their travels too. “Even when I was at Chelsea, I said that De Zerbi was one to watch out for, because he has great ideas and I am sure he’ll become a fine coach.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Maurizio Sarri’s men have looked in great shape recently and they will look to continue their winning momentum against a tricky Sassuolo side. The Old Lady are coming to this match with a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. A win here will make it seven on the trot in all competitions, and with Inter Milan hot on their heels, Sarri would not like to drop points at this stage. Sassuolo have been quite inconsistent this season and that is the reason why they are languishing in the 14th position. They lost their last fixture against Lazio and have always struggled against Juventus in the past. So, it will be a monumental task for Roberto De Zerbi’s men to churn out a positive result. The main challenge for Sassuolo will be to get back on track this season while Juventus will be equally determined to bag all three points, with second-placed Inter Milan only a point behind them. Therefore a lot is at stake for both the sides and the supporters are in for a feisty contest. Team News & Tactics Juventus Giorgio Chiellini continues to be on the sidelines while Douglas Costa is set to miss out with a thigh injury. Alex Sandro and Sami Khedira are expected to recover in time for this fixture and may find their names in the starting eleven. Federico Bernardeschi may find his place in the team, replacing Aaron Ramsey while Gonzala Higuain and Juan Cuadrado could also start against Sassuolo. Sarri is expected to continue with his conventional 4-3-1-2 formation, with Wojcicech Szczesny guarding the goal. In defence, Leonardo Bonucci and Mathijs de Ligt will form the centre-back pairing, with Alex Sandro and Cuadrado coming into the squad as fullbacks. In midfield, there are varied options for Sarri, but he may opt for a trio of Miralem Pjanic, Khedira and Blaise Matuidi. Bernardeschi, who is expected to return to the starting lineup, may get the free role in behind the forwards. Cristiano Ronaldo will lead the line for alongside Gonzalo Higuain, with Paulo Dybala likely to come in at the latter stages of the game. Predicted Lineup (4-3-1-2): Szczesny; Cuadrado, Bonucci, de Ligt, Sandro; Can, Pjanic, Matuidi; Bernardeschi; Higuain, Ronaldo Sassuolo There are injuries galore for the Neroverdi, as multiple first-team players miss out. The most notable name among them is of Domenico Berardi, who is out with a thigh strain while other players in the list include former Tottenham defender Vlad Chiriches, Rogerio, ex-AS Roma man Gregoire Defrel, Gian Marco Ferrari and Gianluca Pegolo. Therefore, Roberto De Zerbi does not have many players to chose from and is expected to field his squad in a 4-3-3 attacking formation. The experienced Andrea Consigli will be in goal while the back four will include Jeremy Toljan, Filippo Romagna, Marlon Santos and the experienced Federico Peluso. Alfred Duncan and Francesco Magnanelli will hold the key in winning the midfield battle. They will have to break up play and restrict the Juventus midfielders from controlling play. Manuel Locatelli will venture forward and play in a free role behind the frontline. Former Benfica winger Filip Djuricic and Chelsea youth academy graduate Jeremie Boga will be vested with the responsibility to provide width and stretch the Juventus defence, while Francesco Caputo is set to be their main target man upfront. Predicted Lineup (4-3-3): Consigli; Toljan, Romagna, Marlon, Peluso; Duncan, Locatelli, Magnanelli; Djuricic, Caputo, Boga Key Stats Juventus hold dominating records against Sassuolo, having won the last seven Serie A fixtures against the visitors, scoring a staggering 21 goals. The hosts have won all of their six Serie A meetings against Sassuolo at the Allianz Stadium with an aggregate scoreline of 18-2. The biggest win for the Bianconeri at the Allianz Stadium considering all competitions has come against Sassuolo (7-0) back in 2018 which is at par with their 7-0 win over Parma in 2014. Sassuolo have lost their last seven games against Serie A table-toppers at the start of a matchday, conceding 17 goals in that time period. Juventus have conceded four penalties in Serie A this season, as many as they conceded in the whole of the 2018-19 season. Player to Watch Cristiano Ronaldo It has not been the best of seasons for Cristiano Ronaldo by any stretch of imagination. While there will be talks of regression, the Portuguese talisman will look to waive off the doubts and criticism as he has always done in his career. A four-match goalless streak for the 33-year old could only motivate him to strive forward and fight for each and every chance in the final third. All he needs currently is a goal to get that confidence back and we all know what happens when he is at his best. Therefore, Ronaldo will have a point to prove against Sassuolo or else Maurizio Sarri will have to take a few bold decisions. Prediction Juventus 2-1 Sassuolo It is going to be a hard-fought match and most of the matches for Juventus lately have been closely contested, including the one against Atletico Madrid. However, if Cristiano Ronaldo finds his shooting boots then it can be a long night for the Neroverdi. For now, though, it is expected to be a cagey affair. Roberto De Zerbi’s men will be happy with a point from this away fixture and considering their absentees, it will be a monumental task for them to churn out a win. Juventus have kept their winning momentum intact, but they have been very unconvincing at times and if Sassuola can capitalise on their half chances and be clinical in front of goal, there may be a chance of an upset. However, considering the difference in quality, as well as the key players absent for Sassuolo, The Hard Tackle predicts a 2-1 win for the hosts. It kicks off at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin at 11.30 GMT. The Bianconeri are top of the Serie A table and still unbeaten in all competition, but remain under pressure from Inter. Sami Khedira has joined the absentee list with a knee issue, so is out of action with Douglas Costa, Adrien Rabiot and Giorgio Chiellini. It’s an opportunity for Emre Can to get a run-out in midfield with Miralem Pjanic and Rodrigo Bentancur. Federico Bernardeschi returns for the trequartista role, with Ronaldo partnering Higuain, sending midweek Champions League hero Paulo Dybala to the bench. Sassuolo’s results have not reflected the standard of their performances so far this season, as their leaky defence has caused problems. Coach Roberto De Zerbi plays a similar style of football to Maurizio Sarri, with quick passing and possession, but he is without injured Domenico Berardi, Gregoire Defrel, Gian Marco Ferrari, Gianluca Pegolo and Vlad Chiriches. The big news is that Andrea Consigli isn’t fully fit either, so 18-year-old Stefano Turati is thrown into the starting XI for his senior Sassuolo debut. It means Francesco Caputo leads the trident attack with Filip Djuricic and very pacey Jeremy Boga, with former Juve youth academy product Filippo Romagna in defence. Sassuolo have a famously dreadful record at the Juventus Stadium, losing all six Serie A visits, scoring two goals and conceding 18. That includes a 7-0 result here in February 2018, with Higuain hat-trick. Home and away, the Neroverdi have suffered seven consecutive league defeats to Juve. The Bianconeri were seeking an eighth consecutive Serie A victory against Sassuolo, but missed Sami Khedira, Douglas Costa, Adrien Rabiot and Giorgio Chiellini. Midweek Champions League hero Paulo Dybala made way for Cristiano Ronaldo, with a rare Emre Can start in midfield. Sassuolo made the trip without Domenico Berardi, Gregoire Defrel, Gian Marco Ferrari and Vlad Chiriches. The biggest development was in goal, as Gianluca Pegolo was recovering from hand surgery, Andrea Consigli had muscular problems, so 18-year-old Stefano Turati was thrown in for his debut. Emre Can should’ve scored within five minutes, but incredibly hit a fresh-air shot from six yards on Gonzalo Higuain’s pull-back from the by-line. The German tried to make up for it with a snapshot from distance moments later, forcing the first save of Turati’s Serie A career, while Gigi Buffon parried a Kyrialopoulos free kick. Gonzalo Higuain’s volley flashed just wide of both Ronaldo at the far post on a dinked Miralem Pjanic pass, then Jeremie Boga blasted just over the bar. It was end-to-end stuff, but Juve took the lead when Leonardo Bonucci hit a sudden daisy-cutter from 20 metres out that drilled into the far bottom corner. The situation lasted barely three minutes, as Boga sprung the offside trap on a delightful Caputo assist that nutmegged Alex Sandro, waited for Buffon to rush out and chipped him from a tight angle. It was a magnificent equaliser. Manuel Locatelli drilled wide from distance and Traore’s free header sailed over the bar, as Sassuolo continued to cause problems. On the stroke of half-time, Turati bravely rushed off his line to clear with Pjanic and Ronaldo rushing towards him on the counter. The second half started with a bang and a catalogue of Juventus errors to gift Sassuolo the lead. Juan Cuadrado’s back-pass to De Ligt was bad, the Dutchman’s prod straight to Caputo was worse and the striker’s shot from the edge of the box squirmed over Buffon for another error. Juve fought back, as debutant Turati flew to fingertip a Ronaldo free kick out from under the bar, then Higuain only prodded straight at the goalkeeper from five yards. Sarri had to hit the panic button, throwing on Paulo Dybala and Blaise Matuidi for Bernardeschi and Emre Can. Rodrigo Bentancur needed a decisive block to stop Junior Hamed Traore going clear on goal, while Ronaldo had the ball in the net on the hour mark only after he’d been flagged offside. The pressure was growing and Filippo Romagna mistimed his tackle on Dybala for a stonewall penalty. Ronaldo converted into the near bottom corner, sending Turati the wrong way for 2-2. It was wide open, Dybala’s rising strike fingertipped over the bar from a tight angle by Turati, then Dybala, Pjanic and Locatelli free kicks off target. Turati fumbled Aaron Ramsey’s effort, but just about managed to claw it back under control before the ball crossed the line. It was a siege in stoppages, but Ronaldo's header looped inches wide. Sassuolo had lost all six previous Serie A visits to the Juventus Stadium, losing their last seven home and away against the Bianconeri in the league, but emerged with a more than deserved point.
