Lionel Messi shuts down rumours he's leaving Barcelona, declaring them as 'fake news'

Lionel Messi has taken to social media to deny a number of news reports about his future and his relationship with Ronaldinho, who has recently been released from prison.

Apr 9, 2020

The Barcelona superstar has been linked with a move away from Camp Nou in recent weeks, with Inter Milan a reported destination.

Another story suggested Messi gave money to his former teammate Ronaldinho to help him pay bail.

But on Thursday night, the Argentine denied both of those reports on Instagram.

Screenshotting a tweet from TNT Sports, Messi wrote '#FakeNews' and 'Lie 1: Messi to Inter,

Lie 2: Messi gave money to Ronaldinho in jail' before sharing with his 147 million followers. ......

Inevitably, the 2020 edition of the International Champions Cup has been cancelled, which could cost clubs up to €15m.

With football at a standstill and the coronavirus pandemic hitting the USA harder than any other country right now, the idea of playing a friendly tournament in North America was “unfeasible.”

Coppa Italia first match back on May 27?

Dove vedere Juventus-Milan streaming e tv, semifinale Coppa Italia ...

Apr 16, 2020

Reports are spreading that the first football played in Italy after the coronavirus lockdown will be the Coppa Italia semi-finals on May 27 and 28, with Serie A following a few days later.

The suggestion first emerged last night following a series of meetings between the various parties involved in organising the sport.

It’s widely believed training will resume after the lockdown order is eased on May 4, with the FIGC (Italian Football Federation) drawing up a protocol for swab and blood tests once a week.

FIGC moves end of season to Aug 2

FIGC-wall-camera-epa_1.jpg

Apr 23, 2020

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has agreed to postpone the end of the 2019-20 Serie A season from June 30 to August 2.

This would be in line with today’s indications from the UEFA Executive Committee, which is urging domestic leagues to complete their campaign by August 3.

This is the result of today’s emergency FIGC summit, as confirmed by a statement.

The season had been due to end on June 30, including contracts, loan deals and fixtures.

That cut-off date has been moved to August 2, giving extra time to finish the season after the COVID-19 pandemic and consequent lockdown.

Apr 28, 2020

The 2019-20 Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 season is over, announced the Prime Minister of France Edouard Philippe, but it’s unclear what this means for clubs in the Champions League.

The coronavirus pandemic forced a shutdown in sport around March 12 all over the world and various countries are taking different approaches to a return.

France has now joined the Netherlands, Belgium and Argentina in announcing the 2019-20 season is already over, as they will not even try to resume playing over the summer.

“The 2019-20 season cannot continue,” announced Prime Minister Philippe this afternoon. .......

Juventus President Andrea Agnelli has declared that the Bianconeri have ‘the firm intention of ending the 2019-20 season’.

Agnelli had not given any public statements before today concerning Juve’s stance on the campaign being completed, limiting himself to ‘likes’ on Twitter posts that were against the Scudetto being awarded to his club by default.

May 3, 2020

The Italian Government has given the all-clear for training to resume in centres from Monday, after several regions opened up their gates.

The original decree had differentiated between athletes in team sports and those with individual disciplines, such as tennis or athletics, even if the form of exercise was identical.

With some regional assemblies opening up the training centres from May 4 rather than waiting until May 18, the Government accepted it was not fair to continue limiting some areas rather than others. ....

Pecoraro: 'Inter-Juve VAR file missing' .asd

Higuain-1804-Int-celebs-epa_0.jpg

May 3, 2020

The former FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe Pecoraro reveals the VAR audio from a controversial Inter-Juventus incident in 2018 went missing. ‘We need more transparency.’ .......

However, former referee Luca Marelli has pointed out the reason there is no intervention from the VAR is that it's simply not protocol to intervene for a booking, even if that is a second bookable offence.

So while the Pjanic foul should've been sanctioned with a yellow card, that is not something VAR is allowed to intervene on.

Rizzoli explains Inter-Juve VAR controversy

Petition update · Primo traguardo raggiunto! · Change.org

May 6, 2020

Refereeing designator Nicola Rizzoli hit back at suggestions from a former FIGC prosecutor that VAR clips ‘disappeared’ from Inter-Juventus. ‘It never existed.’

The controversy erupted when former FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe Pecoraro revealed he had requested the audio of the conversation between referee Daniele Orsato and the VAR for Miralem Pjanic’s potential second yellow card offence, but that it was ‘missing’ from the file they received.

“It’s important to clarify here and not create further confusion,” replied refereeing designator Rizzoli on Sky Sport Italia today. ......

The Warm-Up: Football's coming back! Bundesliga at the ready

Campionati, riparte la Bundesliga | News | Oddschecker

May 7, 2020

Long have we drifted. Weeks. Maybe months. No compass, no chart. No idea where we might be going, or when we might get there. The Warm-Up is not afraid to admit that, at times, as the sun beat down and torpor took hold, we have begun to lose faith that we might ever see football, blessed football, again.

So the first of Europe’s professional leagues to return from their covid-19 suspension will be the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga, which could be back as soon as May 15, just eight (8!) short days from now. Of course, this will be a strange, unsettling Bundesliga, played out in empty stadiums, with none of the much admired and envied noise pouring down from the fans. ......

May 7, 2020

Juventus have almost all their players back in Turin after going overseas, staying in quarantine, but Gonzalo Higuain and Adrien Rabiot are still abroad.

Training began this week at the Continassa ground, as players had tests for COVID-19 and could then run on the pitches, albeit keeping to social distancing guidelines.

However, those who had been abroad during the lockdown and only recently returned cannot take part, as they must first self-isolate at home for 14 days. ....

'Why aren't players wearing masks' Football fans react to Bundesliga return

The Bundesliga resumed today after but despite all the procedures put in place to try to ensure minimal contact,

fans branded the moves pointless because players did not wear masks

Immagine

May 16, 2020

Fans were left baffled that, despite the Bundesliga banning handshakes, mascots and team photographs and multi-player goal celebrations, players were not wearing masks on the pitch.

Borussia Dortmund were in action on Saturday as the German league became the first major league to restart since the coronavirus pandemic shut down sport on a global scale.

BVB went 4-0 up against Schalke thanks to goals from Erling Haaland, Thorgen Hazard and a brace from Raphael Guerreiro.

There was an eerie atmosphere at the Signal Iduna Park with supporters were allowed inside the stadium, meaning that players and managers' voices were audible to television viewers.

Dortmund's players ensured they maintained a two-metre distance while celebrating with their team-mates, while those on the substitutes bench sat two meters apart while wearing face masks.

Btu viewers branded the extra procedures effectively pointless because the players on the pitch were tackling and marking each while not wearing face masks. ......
