It kicks off in Turin at 20.45 CET - 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT). Pjanic had missed Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Lazio in Serie A after picking up an injury during the warm-up for the last Champions League test with Olympiakos. There remains a shortage elsewhere, with Claudio Marchisio, Benedikt Howedes, Mattia De Sciglio and Marko Pjaca absent. Stephan Lichtsteiner is not on the UEFA list and therefore unavailable for this competition, so Stefano Sturaro could start at right-back. Juventus squad for Sporting: Buffon, Chiellini, Benatia, Pjanic, Khedira, Cuadrado, Higuain, Dybala, Douglas Costa, Alex Sandro, Matuidi, Barzagli, Pinsoglio, Mandzukic, Asamoah, Szczesny, Rugani, Sturaro, Bentancur, Bernardeschi Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

It kicks off tonight in Turin at 20.45 CET - 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT) and they are locked together on three points after two games. “Considering Barcelona already have two victories under their belts, we believe just as much as Max Allegri that one of the other three teams will finish second in the group,” said the Coach in his Press conference. “I won’t rule out Olympiakos, but it’s true that with Sporting’s victory in Athens, a positive result in Turin would put us in a strong position. “Having said that, I don’t think tomorrow’s game is decisive. It’s important, but not decisive, so we have other key matches coming up, as do Juventus.” The Bianconeri suffered their first home defeat in over two years at the weekend, losing 2-1 to Lazio and sliding to third place in Serie A. “Juventus lost just one game in Serie A and one to Barcelona in the Champions League, so their campaign is not as negative as people claim. “This is a side that needs no presentation, as they reached the Final twice in the last three years, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a good game and result here. If Olympiakos are ruled out and it’s between us and Juventus, that’s a good thing for us.” Sporting only lost 1-0 to Barcelona, so will they take the same man-marking approach to Paulo Dybala that they reserved for Lionel Messi? “Dybala is a great player, but Messi is Messi, so they have different characteristics. Our strategy will be different, as it depends on Battaglia’s position, which could well be in the zone where Dybala plays the most.” Seydou Doumbia and Fabio Coentrao were considered major injury doubts and trained separately from the rest of the group, but are available. “They can play, but before the game we’ll have a training session and some things happen there that we cannot be prepared for. If nothing strange happens, both Doumbia and Coentrao will be ready for the match. “I brought practically the entire squad with me because I don’t just train 11 players, but an entire group. We need everyone working together for this journey.” Jorge Jesus was in charge of Benfica when they knocked Juventus out of the Europa League semi-final in 2014, denying them the chance to play the Final in Turin. “I didn’t know the Juventus logo had changed… I would like to have the same sensations as I did in that semi-final and I believe it is completely possible. “Sporting have everything it takes to fight for the victory and we come here with that intention. I am certain of one thing, which is that the confidence and determination of the Sporting players will be greater to that of the Juventus squad. The quality of the players might be different, but I have no doubts on their approach. “If there is one country in the world where the quality of the tactics and Coaches counts more than anything, it’s in Italy. It’s true that in recent years the other countries have evolved too, but the Italian tacticians have always been evolved.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The Bianconeri face the Portuguese side in the Champions League tonight, the first of a double-header against Jorge Jesus’ side. According to Tuttomercatoweb, Coach Massimiliano Allegri tested a 4-3-3 shape in the final training session this morning. That saw Miralem Pjanic playing deep, with Blaise Matuidi to his left and Sami Khedira to his right in the centre of the park. Paulo Dybala would play on the right flank, allowing him to cut in on his left foot, with Mario Mandzukic on the left and Gonzalo Higuain through the middle. However, it’s not certain that this will be the approach taken tonight, as Allegri may opt to go 4-2-3-1. Essentially the choice comes down to Juan Cuadrado or Khedira, with the former indicating a 4-2-3-1. Probable Juventus line-up: Buffon; Sturaro, Benatia, Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Pjanic, Matuidi; Cuadrado, Dybala, Mandzukic; Higuaín OR Buffon; Sturaro, Benatia, Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Khedira, Pjanic, Matuidi; Dybala, Higuain, Mandzukic Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

It kicks off in Turin at 20.45 CET - 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT). The Bianconeri welcome back Miralem Pjanic after his thigh injury on September 27, but are still missing Claudio Marchisio, Mattia De Sciglio, Benedikt Howedes, Marko Pjaca and ineligible Stephen Lichtsteiner. It had been reported that Max Allegri tested a 4-3-3 formation in training this morning. However, all suggestions point to a return for the 4-2-3-1 in this must-win match after one point from the last two Serie A games. The big change is that Khedira will be used rather than Blaise Matuidi as a partner for Pjanic. Juan Cuadrado, Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic fan out behind Gonzalo Higuain. As for the defence, Stefano Sturaro is used at right-back and Benatia in the centre, resting Andrea Barzagli, but there is still no room for Daniele Rugani. It kicks off in Turin at 20.45 CET - 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT). The Bianconeri’s confidence has been hit this season by losing the Italian Super Cup to Lazio, falling 3-0 at Barcelona, then picking up just one point from the last two Serie A rounds. Saturday’s 2-1 result for Lazio was the first time Juve have lost at home since August 2015, ending a run of 50 victories and seven defeats in all competition. This is a must-win fixture, as Sporting also have three points going in thanks to their 3-2 victory away to Olympiakos and narrow defeat to Barcelona. Pjanic returns from a thigh problem he sustained in the warm-up against Olympiakos on September 27, but are still missing Claudio Marchisio, Mattia De Sciglio, Marko Pjaca, Benedikt Howedes and ineligible Stephan Lichtsteiner. Sami Khedira is picked to partner Pjanic, resting Blaise Matuidi, while Medhi Benatia sends Andrea Barzagli to the bench. It’s a return to the 4-2-3-1 formation after some failed 4-3-3 experiments, as Juan Cuadrado, Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic fan out behind Gonzalo Higuain. Sporting shook off some injury concerns, but Seydou Doumbia – ex-Roma flop – is on the bench, as Dutch giant Bas Dost leads the attack with support from Acuna, Gelson Martins and former Sampdoria talent Bruno Fernandes. The Lisbon side got a surprise 3-2 victory at Olympiacos in the opening game of this group, which was only the third win from their last 24 European away fixtures, also drawing five and losing 16. Coach Jorge Jesus is a familiar face, because he was in charge when Benfica knocked Juventus out of the Europa League semi-finals. UEFA have accepted a request from Sporting to have a minute’s silence before kick-off for those who died in the recent fires in Portugal. Sporting will also wear black armbands and have announced various charity initiatives to get supplies and help to the affected regions. Giorgio Chiellini knocked down a corner for Higuain, whose shot was beaten away at the near post by Rui Patricio. Andrea Barzagli replaced Medhi Benatia for the second half, as he had a knock to the ankle, but Dybala should’ve tried to take the finish with his weaker right foot, instead turning wide with his left on an Alex Sandro assist. Stefano Sturaro’s poor back-pass almost got Gigi Buffon into trouble, but Cristiano Piccini anticipated Mandzukic and the Croatian then nodded straight at Rui Patricio. The Sporting goalkeeper struggled to deal with an Alex Sandro cross-shot, but Juve only took the lead thanks to a moment of inspiration from Max Allegri. Douglas Costa had been on the pitch for all of 13 seconds when he whipped in the cross for Mario Mandzukic to hold off Jonathan Silva and steer it in with a low header at the back post. Alex Sandro’s own goal had put the Portuguese side in front, but Miralem Pjanic’s free kick and a late Mario Mandzukic header turned around the Champions League tie. “We are not sharp right now, as some players were out for a while, others returned from international duty in bad shape, so we must continue to work,” Allegri told Mediaset Premium. “Last season is in the past, so to remain at a certain level, you must fight and work every single day. I thought Gonzalo Higuain played very well tonight with character, quality and physicality. “It’s never easy to win in the Champions League, we’ve made a step forward, but there’s a long way to go and we must try to reconnect, as some of our elements are a bit disconnected. “It’s one season up to November and another after that. After the next break for international duty is when the Juventus season will really begin. “We made some technical errors, especially in the opening 20 minutes, then at the end we were running a lot of risks rather than locking down the result. “We had many more chances to score and we didn’t take them. At this moment we need to rediscover our solidity, which I think we did have tonight when Sporting had the ball, but naturally our fitness levels and sharpness must improve and we can only do that via training.” A positive result was sorely needed after one point from two Serie A rounds. “I am happy with what we did in some moments of the game, but glad we fought to the end. Of our last few games, we won this one and I think it was our worst performance compared to Atalanta or Lazio. We missed penalties, had black-outs that proved costly, but tonight I saw more consistency.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The Bianconeri reached the final of the competition in 2015 and 2017, but haven’t lifted the trophy since their win over Ajax in 1996. Despite that, an investigation by the website Calcio e Finanza puts Juve third in terms of revenue from the competition over the last decade. Real Madrid lead the way, with €465.76m over the past 10 years, with their arch-rivals Barcelona second with 449.47m. After that comes Juventus, who by this calculation have made €428.12m from Champions League participation in the past decade. That’s more than Bayern Munich, who won the competition in 2013, as well as reaching two finals and three semi-finals. The reason for that is to do with the way television money is distributed, as well as the investment in rights by Italian television companies. Despite failing to even reach a semi-final in the past 10 years, Milan are ranked second of the Serie A clubs with €205m, followed by Roma, Inter and Napoli. Juve are also top of the table in terms of the average revenue per season, as they’ve only been in seven of the last 10 editions, for an average of €61.16m per season. The Bianconeri fought back from an Alex Sandro own goal to beat Sporting 2-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday, but lost their unbeaten home record in Serie A to Lazio after 50 wins and seven draws. “Paulo Dybala returned from Argentina and was not in good shape, so he was rested on Saturday,” said the Coach in his Press conference. “He is in good shape, he’s able to deal with any issue on or off the field and he will play tomorrow. I said the team was disconnected because it’s like when you have a computer and it’s not connected to the Internet, it won’t go very well. That happens on the field too. “Rugani will play tomorrow. I hadn’t seen many guarantees from him in training and preferred to use other players in certain games. Claudio Marchisio is called up, but not Blaise Matuidi because he has a muscular issue in the flexor. “Mattia De Sciglio will return to training with the squad on Monday, Marko Pjaca will play with the Primavera squad to get minutes in his legs and Benedikt Howedes will slowly get into the group from Monday. Giorgio Chiellini will 99 per cent play tomorrow. “After the break for international duty, we should all be there and ready to play. Injuries happen during a season.” Juventus have slipped down to third place and are seven points off leaders Napoli, but tonight the Partenopei go head-to-head with second-placed Inter. “We need to recover lost points and stop those in front of us breaking away. We have to work as a team and leave aside the issue of aesthetics or beautiful football, because we need to put some points under our belts.” Allegri consolidated his reputation as a supersub Coach by introducing Douglas Costa against Sporting, who within 13 seconds provided the assist for Mario Mandzukic’s goal. “It takes luck too, but I already wanted to make the change against Lazio. I’m glad I waited, because the Sporting match was more important for us to win. “Douglas Costa is in good shape and when you play so many games, it’s important to have the right changes off the bench. I still have to decide if he will start.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The newspapers in Italy over the past week have been debating whether Max Allegri’s men are in crisis. With just one point from two Serie A rounds, including their first home defeat since Udinese in August 2015, plus a thoroughly unconvincing 2-1 Champions League victory over Sporting, it’s a fair question. The Bianconeri fell five points behind leaders Napoli, but with the Partenopei going head-to-head with second-placed Inter on Saturday evening, it’s a big opportunity to close that gap. The stakes are high, Juventus cannot afford to drop any more points and risk going further behind. Claudio Marchisio, Marko Pjaca, Mattia De Sciglio and Benedikt Howedes are still out of action, but Allegri shelved the 4-3-3 experiments for a return to 4-2-3-1 against Sporting. Medhi Benatia limped off during that midweek match, so Daniele Rugani might finally get a chance at centre-back. Whilst all the talk will be about Juve and the title race, it takes two to tango and hosts Udinese have their own reasons to grab all three points, being just one point above relegation zone in what could be a very tight battle come the end of the season. The 4-0 thrashing of then-unbeaten Sampdoria seemed to be a turning point in their campaign, but defeat to Fiorentina put Gigi Del Neri right back on the chopping block. The Friulani are yet to share the spoils this season, winning twice and losing the other six, but have found the net in every round so far. Jens Stryger Larsen and Valon Behrami are expected to miss out through injury, but Danilo returns to the defence. Del Neri will want to get one over his former employers too, but going by his managerial record against Juve, you wouldn’t exactly bet on him to win, losing 15 of their 19 encounters. Putting records to one side and you get a game that has a lot riding on it at such an early stage, which could affect both the top end of the table and the bottom and change how the rest of the season pans out. It may look like a standard victory for Allegri’s side on paper, but after the last two games and the way that they scraped through against Sporting, anything could happen. Keep an eye on: Kevin Lasagna (Udinese) - Not only does he have a great name, but Kevin Lasagna is a player that can always pop up with a goal and could catch the Juve backline by surprise if the ball falls his way. It kicks off at the Dacia Arena at 18.00 CET - 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT). Max Allegri’s men suffered their first home defeat since August 2015, falling 2-1 to Lazio, which left them five points off the leaders. However, with Napoli and Inter drawing 0-0 last night, it’s a big opportunity to get back into the running for the Scudetto. Juve miss Blaise Matuidi, Benedikt Howedes, Medhi Benatia, Stefano Sturaro, Mattia De Sciglio and Marko Pjaca. Daniele Rugani therefore gets a rare start, resting Andrea Barzagli, while Miralem Pjanic partners Sami Khedira. Juan Cuadrado, Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic fan out behind Gonzalo Higuain. Udinese have practically a full squad to choose from, as only Jens Stryger Larsen and Silvan Widmer are carrying knocks. Stipe Perica is the surprise choice to lead the line with veteran Maxi Lopez, while Rodrigo De Paul, Seko Fofana and Jakub Jankto provide creativity. Juventus are unbeaten in Udine since a 3-0 thrashing in April 2010, leaving with four victories and three draws. In that time, the visitors scored 15 goals and conceded just two. The Bianconeri had just one point from their last two Serie A rounds, also missing Blaise Matuidi, Benedikt Howedes, Medhi Benatia, Stefano Sturaro, Mattia De Sciglio and Marko Pjaca. Udinese improvised with Silvan Widmer and Jens Stryger Larsen not fully fit. Juventus were unbeaten in Udine since a 3-0 thrashing in April 2010, leaving with four victories and three draws. In that time, the visitors scored 15 goals and conceded just two. It was a shock start at the Dacia Arena, as Daniele Rugani was caught in possession and Stipe Perica dribbled past Giorgio Chiellini to blast in at the near post. Juve fought back immediately, a Mario Mandzukic diving header charged down and then a rather bizarre own goal, as Samir nodded the Miralem Pjanic corner under the bar. Udinese were having real problems from set plays and Chiellini’s header whistled just wide too, then within six minutes Juventus had turned the game around completely. Their pressing won back possession and Sami Khedira steered in the header from eight yards on Juan Cuadrado’s cross. It was almost 3-1 to the visitors moments later, Gonzalo Higuain’s angled drive coming off the inside of the far post. However, the game took a very strange turn when Ali Adnan made a crucial tackle from behind on Mandzukic and the pair went head-to-head exchanging some words. When both of them were booked for this, Mandzukic immediately swore at the referee in dissent and received another yellow card, reducing Juventus to 10 men for over an hour. Jakub Jankto stung Gigi Buffon’s gloves at the near post, then after a long period of Udinese pressure, his volley was denied by the goalkeeper’s outstretched foot. Buffon performed heroics again on the stroke of half-time, fingertipping a Maxi Lopez flick away from Rodrigo De Paul in the six-yard box. Buffon performed heroics again on the stroke of half-time, fingertipping a Maxi Lopez flick away from Rodrigo De Paul in the six-yard box. Udinese got their equaliser after the restart, as a free kick found Danilo totally unmarked to nod in from five yards after starting his run from deep. The situation did not last long, as Dybala’s long free kick found Rugani rising between defenders for a header that ricocheted in off the inside of the far post. Moments later, Juve turned it around completely, another Dybala free kick knocked down by Rugani for Khedira’s volley from six yards. Dybala had the ball in the net, but only after Higuain had been flagged offside. Udinese also had strong penalty appeals when Alex Sandro appeared to bring down Jens Stryger Larsen, but the referee waved play on. Maxi Lopez drilled inches wide from just inside the area, but instead Khedira completed his first Serie A hat-trick with a powerful angled drive into the far bottom corner. It still wasn’t over, as Pjanic unleashed a powerful strike from distance that took a big deflection off Bram Nuytinck to leave Bizzarri stranded. Down to 10 men, the team was much more focused. “I said beforehand that this was a key moment in the season, as it would allow us to close up on the leaders. A negative result tonight would’ve been really difficult to swallow. Our fitness levels are growing, players are returning from injury and it’ll be important going forward. “Sami Khedira’s presence has also helped Miralem Pjanic in midfield. The first year, Khedira was with Pogba and he would push forward when he felt it necessary, but we are a different team now, much more attack-minded.” Juventus face SPAL on Wednesday evening, then Milan next Saturday, but Leonardo Bonucci will likely be suspended against his former club after a red card for elbowing Genoa defender Aleandro Rosi. “Bonucci had seven seasons at Juventus, I would’ve liked to see him against us, because it’s always better to take on the strongest opponents.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Mario Mandzukic saw red for dissent after 25 minutes, but the Bianconeri still emerged 6-2 winners at the Dacia Arena. “We have to take on the best aspect of this, which was the character, tenacity and desire to overcome obstacles,” Buffon told Mediaset Premium. “We are well aware that we have to improve. I am on the pitch to do my job, so I didn’t do anything exceptional this evening. What I really loved was the attitude of Higuain, whose performance was worthy of praise. The Coach should make the others watch videos of Higuain and how he played today to motivate players. “Daniele Rugani also did very well with a goal and an assist. It wasn’t easy for him and Giorgio Chiellini, especially after we went down to 10 men, but they did a great job. “I won’t change my mind, though, as I maintain that you don’t win titles with 6-2 victories. We’ll take it today due to the unusual circumstances, but we still need to improve. “I believe we are a team that need to feel under a certain amount of pressure to give our best. We’ve got to use that positive energy and keep it going forward for the next games.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

It’s the first hat-trick of my career, so that’s great, but I am above all happy with the win,” the Germany international told Sky Sport Italia. “It’s always difficult for Juventus when we’re not winning, especially after Mario’s red card. It was not easy for us, but we are still one of the best teams in Europe and we proved that today.” With Inter and Napoli drawing 0-0 last night, Juve move to within three points of the Serie A leaders. “We always said there’s a long way to go, but after yesterday’s result it was very important we win today. It’s still super difficult, as we have SPAL in the midweek round and then Milan next weekend.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The centre-back was tussling with his opponent and swung an elbow into his face, leaving the Grifone man bleeding badly. After consultation with the Video Assistant Referee the Rossoneri skipper was sent off, and today he’s been given a two-match ban. The Lega Serie A found the defender guilty of “grave unsporting conduct”, noting that the ball “was not within playable distance” when he “hit the opposing player in the face with an elbow, causing physical damage”. That means Bonucci will miss the midweek trip to Chievo, but also the reunion with Juventus at San Siro next weekend. Bianconeri striker Mario Mandzukic has been given a one match ban for his two yellow cards against Udinese, with Sassuolo’s Francesco Cassata, Giancarlo Gonzalez of Bologna and Verona’s Bruno Zuculini receiving the same sanction for their respective dismissals. Napoli have been fined €15,000 after fans threw flares at Inter supporters, while the Nerazzurri have been fined a total of €16,000 for an offensive banner, one anti-Neapolitan chant and an “unnecessary delay” to the second half of that match. Spal were fined €2,500 for delaying the second half of their match, with Fiorentina hit with a €2,000 charge after fans threw a smoke bomb onto the pitch. That sanction was more lenient as the Viola worked with police and the league to identify the culprits. Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The Bianconeri got back on track with a 6-2 victory away to Udinese on Sunday, even if Mario Mandzukic had been sent off after 25 minutes. He is therefore suspended for this game, with Blaise Matuidi, Stefano Sturaro, Medhi Benatia, Marko Pjaca and Benedikt Howedes injured. “I can confirm Gigi Buffon and Giorgio Chiellini will not play tomorrow,” said the Coach in his Press conference. “Claudio Marchisio is ready for a run-out, not the whole game, while Mattia De Sciglio is in the squad, but lacking match fitness. “Gonzalo Higuain, Paulo Dybala and Douglas Costa will play, so will Alex Sandro. I have some doubts in midfield, so don’t ask me about that area. “How do we replace Mandzukic? With Douglas Costa. We take off a tall one and put on someone short… On the other side, it’s either Federico Bernardeschi or Juan Cuadrado.” Allegri was asked about the controversy over Dybala apparently muttering an insult towards him as the Argentine was substituted against Udinese. “There is no problem. At that moment I needed a player who could attack on the counter and substitutions are part of the decisions a Coach must make. “These strikers have always scored goals and always will, there are just moments for everyone when for three or four games they don’t find the net. The important thing is to keep doing the usual performances. “This game is worth three points, just like last weekend and the next. We must have great respect for SPAL, as they play attractive, attacking football and suffered narrow defeats, causing their opponents big problems. We must get back to winning on home turf.” The club from Ferrara is no stranger to Allegri, as his second coaching job was at SPAL in the 2004-05 Serie C1 season. “I had a valuable experience early in my career with SPAL. We had some difficulties within the club, but you could breathe the air of an important club and history, so SPAL deserve to be in Serie A. Leonardo Semplici is a good Coach and is proving he makes the team play very good football at this level too.” Allegri again tried to calm the expectations around his side after six consecutive Serie A titles, reaching the Champions League Final twice in three years. “Winning is something extraordinary. The fact we are talking about a seventh straight title is wonderful, because that would mean going even beyond legend to something nobody has ever done before in Italy. Following this type of an objective will also help us play well in the Champions League. It’s not an either-or situation. “We can only win the Scudetto if we get it into our heads that we must run hard and suffer. Juventus have the potential to do it. “Juve must get back to playing for 95 minutes without lowering the tempo or concentration levels. With Torino, we shut off the light for five or six minutes, then did the same with Atalanta. Eventually, when we did it again with Lazio, we fell over.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti
