Kelly or Hancko – Which defender is better for Juventus?

Lloyd kelly

Juventus wanted to sign Lloyd Kelly as a free agent from Bournemouth in the summer, but he chose to join Newcastle United.

The Englishman could be on the move again this month after failing to establish himself in the Newcastle team. ............

Another defender that Juve wants to sign is David Hancko from Feyenoord, and both have a similar profile, meaning Juve wants them for almost the same reason.

Like Hancko, Kelly is a left-footed defender adept at playing as a centre-back or as a left-back, so they both offer the Bianconeri versatility, which Thiago Motta values in his players.

Juve is struggling to sign both stars after Newcastle United and Feyenoord rejected loan approaches for both players. ............

Hancko gets more game time now and is probably up to speed with the season, meaning he can contribute immediately.

However, Kelly is a fine player who should also not need much time to get up to speed if he completes the move to the Allianz Stadium. ............

Juventus’ Double Defensive Mission: Giuntoli Targets Kelly and Veiga as Chelsea Eye Douglas Luiz

Juventus, previsti nuovi contatti con Newcastle e Chelsea per Kelly e Veiga - Gianluca Di Marzio

Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is on a dual mission to bolster the club’s defence before the transfer window closes. The Bianconeri are pursuing Newcastle’s Lloyd Kelly and Chelsea’s Renato Veiga, with Giuntoli recently traveling to London to accelerate negotiations.

Progress has been made in talks for Kelly, who offers versatility as both a full-back and centre-back. Newcastle have opened the door for a loan with an option to buy, but Juventus is cautious about exceeding their budget. The English defender’s ability to play multiple positions makes him an attractive target for the Italian giants.

Simultaneously, discussions are ongoing with Chelsea regarding Portuguese defender Renato Veiga. During these negotiations, the name of Douglas Luiz has emerged as a point of interest for the London club. Chelsea is keen on a loan deal for the Brazilian midfielder, while Juventus prefers a permanent transfer to generate funds. ............

Amidst these defensive pursuits, Juventus is also finalizing the arrival of Randal Kolo Muani. Giuntoli expressed optimism about the transfer, stating, “I believe everything will be resolved shortly. They’re completing the final documents, and we should have it done by tomorrow at the latest.” ............

Giuntoli emphasized the club’s focus on strengthening rather than selling. “We don’t want to conduct outgoing transfers, but rather enhance the squad”. ............

Juventus sets a new asking price for exciting youngster

Samuel Mbangula celebrating v AC Milan

Juventus have reportedly set a new asking price for Samuel Mbangula, a player who has continued to impress as part of their team this season.

The Belgian youngster has risen through the ranks of Juve’s Next Gen squad, a system the club has relied on heavily to develop new talents. ............

Earlier in the season, reports suggested Juventus valued Mbangula at around €8 million. However the club now considers the player to be worth significantly more. The report claims Juventus will not entertain offers below €30 million for the Belgian, underlining the progress he has made and his growing importance to the team. ............

Selling Mbangula at this stage would be a difficult decision for Juventus, given his impact and the likelihood that his value could increase further with continued development. While his market value has soared, the club should prioritise retaining him to ensure long-term stability and success. ............

Paris Saint-Germain have sold Juan Bernat to Villarreal, therefore allowing Juventus to register Randal Kolo Muani for the showdown with Napoli. ............

This is due to the fact PSG have already filled their limit of players available out on loan abroad and could not legally release another until that was resolved.

They needed to sell someone and Sky Sport Italia report that has now happened, with Bernat’s contract terminated by mutual consent so he can sign a six-month deal with Villarreal, where he was already on loan. ............

This means Kolo Muani should be available for Juventus in the Serie A showdown with leaders Napoli on Saturday. ............

Juventus, Chelsea agree to loan deal for Renato Veiga

Veiga alla Juve: è fatta, c’è solo un aspetto da limare. Assalto anche ad Hancko!

For the second time in a week, Juventus have turned toward the country of Portugal to provide themselves with some much-needed depth in defense.

This one, however, is much more of a short-term fix.

Juventus and Chelsea have agreed to a short-term loan deal for Portuguese defender Renato Veiga. The 21-year-old center back who can also play on the left had only signed with Chelsea from FC Basel last summer in a move worth €14 million, but he had only made a combined 13 appearances between the Premier League and the UEFA Conference League, thus making him very much available to make a January loan move. Juventus reportedly beat out the likes of Borussia Dortmund and others to secure Veiga’s services through the second half of the 2024-25 season.

Juventus will reportedly pay a loan fee of around €4.5-€5 million to secure Veiga’s services for the next six months — which probably speaks more to the Bianconeri’s desperation to finally secure an option behind Federico Gatti and Pierre Kalulu more than anything else. Chelsea are reportedly covering Veiga’s salary for the next six months and agent fees. ............

Veiga would simply give Juventus manager Thiago Motta an alternative to Federico Gatti and Pierre Kalulu — who have played the most minutes out of any Juve players in all competitions this season. ............

The Frenchman has decided to wear the no.20 shirt for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

Juventus have finally been able to officially announce the signing of Randal Kolo Muani on loan from Paris Saint-Germain after red tape delays.

The deal is a dry loan until June 30, so there is no option to buy at the end of the season. ............

Just hours later, Juventus were finally able to announce the arrival of Kolo Muani.

It means the France international will be available for Saturday’s Serie A match against leaders Napoli.

The 26-year-old came through the FC Nantes academy and shot to fame at Eintracht Frankfurt, earning a €95m transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in September 2023.

He scored two goals with one assist in 14 competitive games for PSG so far this season.

Randal Kolo Muani says that he is ‘proud’ to be at a ‘legendary’ club like Juventus, and has explained how Thiago Motta managed to convince him to move to Turin from Paris Saint-Germain.

Juventus have officially announced the signing of the Frenchman on a six-month loan deal until the end of the 2024-25 season. ............

“I’m very, very happy to be here at this legendary club. I’m proud to wear these colours and play in front of the fans,” the France international said during his first interview with the club.

Asked which players from Juventus’s long list of French players he admires the most, he said: “There are lots of French players who have made history here. Zinedine Zidane, of course, David Trezeguet is another one I like a lot. A bit closer to our time, there’s Paul Pogba and also Khephren Thuram is doing very well here, so I’m delighted to be here.”

He also revealed what Thiago Motta said to convince him to join the Bianconeri: “I’ve been chatting for a while with the coach, he told me about the style of play here and that made me want to sign here. I can’t wait to start training and get out on the pitch.” ............

“I don’t have a preference between the two, I just prefer to be on the pitch,” he replied. “I’ll play wherever the coach puts me. If I had to choose, I would say as a centre-forward, that’s where I can express myself best.”

There was also a final greeting for the Juventus supporters: “I hope to see you soon in the stadium, ciao ciao.”

Juventus sensationally revive their interest in unhappy West Ham defender

Todibo | West Ham's Commitment To Buy Finally Clarified

Juventus are reportedly considering an onslaught for West Ham United defender Jean-Clair Todibo after courting him in the summer.

After missing out on their main target Riccardo Calafiori in favour of Arsenal, the Bianconeri turned to the French defender and were reportedly on the verge of finalizing an agreement with OGC Nice worth around 35 million euros.

However, the negotiations stalled in the final stages, and the former Barcelona man eventually lost patience, so he ended up accepting a move to West Ham. On the other hand, Juventus resorted to Pierre Kalulu. ............

Todibo would like to leave West Ham and start a new chapter elsewhere, and has now gained himself a not-so-new suitor in the shape of Juventus.

The Bianconeri already have an agreement in hand for Chelsea youngster Renato Veiga who will join the club on loan until the end of the season, but Cristiano Giuntoli and company could return to London with a second defender in the bag.

The Bianconeri will reportedly keep an eye on the West Ham wantaway to understand if he could be a concrete solution. But in the meantime, they will continue to pursue Newcastle United defender Lloyd Kelly who is struggling for playing time this season, as well as Udinese’s Thomas Kristensen who remains on the shortlist. ............

Renato Veiga set to join Juventus on loan - but he'll be back at Chelsea in the summer

Done deal - How Juventus rallied to pull off Renato Veiga agreement with Chelsea - | Juvefc.com

Juventus will pay a €5 million (£3.8m/$5.2m) loan fee for Veiga’s services, with an additional €1m potentially due in bonuses based on performance. The agreement does not include a purchase option, ensuring Veiga’s eventual return to Chelsea later this year. ............

Chelsea had indicated their willingness to loan out Veiga, provided that both playing opportunities and financial terms were met. While Marseille and Borussia Dortmund were among the clubs initially interested in securing Veiga, Juventus ultimately met the criteria laid out by the Premier League side to lure him to Turin. ............

Veiga has struggled to secure consistent playing time at Chelsea. Despite making 18 appearances for the Blues this season, he has only started one Premier League match. Most of his contributions have come in the Conference League. ............

Renato Veiga is expected to arrive in Turin today, with Juventus ready to announce him as their new January reinforcement after reaching an agreement with Chelsea upon a loan deal.

After signing Alberto Costa from Vitoria SC about 10 days ago, the Bianconeri kept working to provide coach Thiago Motta with another player in a department plagued by serious injuries.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Sunday afternoon that the 21-year-old is expected to travel from England to Turin later in the day, as Juventus are ready to make his signing official. ............

Romano also confirmed the Old Lady will pay around €5m for the straight loan, while the Premier League giants will keep paying the player’s salary for the next months before welcoming him back to Stamford Bridge in the summer. ............

West Ham & Juventus agree on transfer formula for unhappy defender

West Ham star Jean-Clair Todibo in furious half-time bust-up with Julen Lopetegui as dressing room tensions boil over | The Sun

Juventus are still pushing to secure the services of Jean-Clair Todibo who didn’t enjoy a great first half of the season at West Ham United.

The 25-year-old was one of the Bianconeri’s main tranfer targets to bolster the backline last summer. The club was one the verge of sealing an agreement with OGC Nice, but the player grew impatient when the talks hit a snag, so he decided to accept the Hammers’ proposal.

However, the Frenchman’s first few months in East London were underwhelming, to say the least. ............

Motta called Todibo in recent hours, personally inviting him to join his ranks.

Moreover, West Ham have reportedly agreed to send the former Barcelona man on loan with an option to buy, a formula that certainly pleases Juventus. ............

OFFICIAL: Juventus Sign Renato Veiga

Renato-Veiga.webp

Juventus have officially announced the signing of Renato Veiga, a promising defender from Chelsea, as they bolster their squad for the remainder of the season. Following successful medical examinations at JMedical, Veiga is now set to wear the number 12 jersey, previously held by Alex Sandro.

The agreement between Juventus and Chelsea involves a dry loan arrangement valued at €3.8 million, with additional costs amounting to €200,000. Performance-related bonuses could increase the total fee to €5.5 million by June 30, 2026. This strategic move comes as Juventus aims to strengthen their defensive line, particularly after recent injuries to key players. ............

His versatility allows him to play both as a center-back and left-back, making him an ideal fit for Juventus’s current needs.

Veiga’s arrival is seen as a significant boost for Juventus, who have experienced injuries to defenders Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal. His ability to adapt to various defensive roles will provide much-needed depth as the team competes on multiple fronts. ............

Giuntoli wants an Englishman to replace the next midfielder Juventus sell

Chukwuemeka for Chelsa

Juventus remains highly active in the current transfer window, with further squad changes expected before it closes. The Bianconeri have been among the busiest clubs in Italian football during this period, reflecting their determination to address shortcomings from the first half of the season. After failing to meet expectations earlier in the campaign, the club appears committed to reshaping the squad to improve performances and results. ............

In midfield, two notable names—Nicolo Fagioli and Douglas Luiz—have reportedly attracted interest from clubs across Europe. Juventus would not stand in the way of either player leaving if an attractive offer arrives. The club is already making contingency plans to replace them should a departure occur.

One name linked as a potential incoming signing is Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka. The English midfielder, considered one of the brightest young talents in Europe, has struggled for playing time under Enzo Maresca this season. Juventus, while negotiating a deal for Renato Veiga, reportedly enquired about the possibility of signing Chukwuemeka.

Chukwuemeka is a dynamic and creative midfielder who has shown flashes of his potential despite limited opportunities at Chelsea. His ability to contribute both offensively and defensively makes him an exciting prospect. However, his age and relative inexperience mean he would need time to adapt to life in Turin and prove himself as a regular in the starting XI. ............

Sky Sport Italia report that RC Lens have put Juventus in pole position to sign Kevin Danso after the Pierre Kalulu injury.

The Bianconeri were forced back onto the transfer market following the injury to Kalulu during last night’s 2-0 defeat to Benfica in the Champions League. ............

Juventus are in talks with French club RC Lens for Danso and put them in pole position to get him on loan. ............

There is competition from Fenerbahce and Stade Rennais, while he had originally agreed a transfer to Roma in the summer before failing the Lega Serie A medical.

That issue has now been resolved and there was also interest from the Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Juventus nearing move for Lens’ Kevin Danso

fbl-fra-ligue1-psg-lens-1170x780.jpg

Serie A giants Juventus are now nearing a move to Lens defender Kevin Danso.

The Bianconeri have failed in moves for Newcastle United’s Lloyd Kelly and West Ham’s Jean-Clair Todibo. Danso now seems to be their preferred choice.

They are getting close to signing the Austrian, who was close to joining Roma in the summer before a failed medical. ............

Juve have put forward a fee of €2.5 million plus €1.5 million in bonuses as part of a dry loan deal. Lens are happy to accept it but are waiting for a formal acceptance. ............

Juventus set to beat Wolves for Ligue 1 defender

Kevin Danso gives the thumbs-up

Juventus have been seeking one last signing in January, and have reportedly found their man in Kevin Danso.

In what has been a chaotic season for the Bianconeri, the January transfer session is offering the management a chance to rectify some of the mistakes committed in the summer (like leaving Dusan Vlahovic without a backup), and also fill in the gaps caused by the injury plague. ............

In recent days, the Bianconeri have been linked with several defenders from all over Europe, including Newcastle United’s Lloyd Kelly and West Ham United’s Jean-Clair Todibo, while sources in Italian football claimed the club will be looking for domestic solutions by pursuing the Serie A duo of Thomas Kristensen (Udinese) and Saba Goglichidze (Empoli).

Nevertheless the Italian giants have identified Danso as their right profile for the role, and are now close to sealing an agreement, thus beating Wolves and other alternative suitors. ............

“Final details to be sorted, loan move for €4m package add-ons included (€2.5m initial fee). Wolves and Rennes have been trying for days but Juve are now ahead, confident.”

Danso is a 26-year-old Austria international who started his career at Reading’s academy before embarking on several experiences between England and Germany, including MK Dons, Augsburg and Southampton.

Nevertheless, he’s been a staple at Lens since 2021, and is tied to the Ligue 1 side with a contract running until June 2027.

RC Lens have accepted a Juventus offer to loan defender Kevin Danso for €2.5m plus €1.5m in add-ons.

The centre-back was targeted after an injury ruled Pierre Kalulu out of action for at least three weeks, although it will possibly be more after he pulled up during last night’s 2-0 Champions League defeat to Benfica. ............

Danso had long been on the Juventus radar, but Sportitalia noted that the club was only open to a loan with obligation to buy at the end of the season.

That changed today, as despite interest from Rennes and Wolverhampton Wanderers, the player would prefer Juventus and has accepted the terms. ............

Juve are prepared to pay €2.5m for the six-month loan, plus a further €1.5m in potential performance-related bonuses.

It is similar to the agreement that was struck with Chelsea for another defender, Renato Veiga, at a cost of €4m with the Stamford Bridge side covering his salary.

Juventus agree to loan deal for RC Lens defender Kevin Danso

Stade de Reims v RC Lens - Ligue 1 McDonald’s

Before Juventus took the field for Wedneday night’s Champions League league phase finale against Benfica, director Cristiano Giuntoli was understandably asked about the club’s activity in the final days of the January transfer window. Speaking to Sky Italia, Giuntoli stated: “As of now, our transfer market is effectively closed, but we will keep an eye out for any opportunities that suit our requirements.”

It appears they’ve found something.

Juventus have agreed to bring in yet another player in on a short-term loan deal to try and solve some of their pressing depth issues at the back. First it was Renato Veiga from Chelsea, now it’s RC Lens center back Kevin Danso, with Juventus agreeing to a loan deal for the rest of the season with the French club to bring the 26-year-old Austrian to Turin. Juventus will pay an initial loan fee of €2.5 million with another €1.5 million worth of potential bonuses. ............

Of course, the move for Danso comes at a time in which Pierre Kalulu will be out at least a couple of weeks after pulling his hamstring as he did the splits in the first half of the loss to Benfica. With Kalulu out, that meant Federico Gatti was the only natural defender playing in the back four during much of the matchup against Benfica since Veiga was not eligible to play Wednesday night. ............

In Danso, Juve will be getting a player who has been relatively health over the last 4 12 seasons — he’s started at least 30 games domestically prior to this year. This season, Danso has started has played in 12 games domestically, starting them all, for a Lens side that is currently seventh in the Ligue 1.

There is still no word on when Danso could be in Turin to undergo his medicals and sign his contract with Juventus. Considering the timing of when the deal has been essentially finalized, it looks unlikely that he will be able to train with his soon-to-be new squad prior to them facing Empoli on Sunday afternoon.

Done Deal: Arthur to Join Girona

Arthur playing for Liverpool

Juventus and Girona have reached an agreement for the loan transfer of Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo. The deal, which is set to be completed in the coming hours, will see Arthur join the Catalan club on a straight loan until the end of the season. ............

Girona, currently sitting in 8th place in La Liga, have been searching for midfield reinforcements following their exit from the Champions League. The club sees Arthur as an ideal candidate to fill the void left by Aleix Garcia, who departed for Bayer Leverkusen last summer.

The negotiations between Juventus and Girona progressed rapidly in the last 24 hours, outpacing interest from Brazilian side Santos, who had also made a formal proposal for the player. Girona’s willingness to cover a significant portion of Arthur’s salary, which stands at 5.5 million euros gross per season, was a key factor in securing the deal. ............

The loan agreement does not include an option to buy, meaning Arthur will return to Juventus at the end of the season. His contract with the Bianconeri runs until June 2026.

Juventus Close to Sealing Danso Deal, Awaiting Final Approval from Lens

Danso

Juventus and Lens are in the final stages of negotiations for the transfer of French defender Kevin Danso. Gianluca Di Marzio reports that talks between the two clubs continued through the night of Thursday, January 30, and into Friday, January 31, as they work to finalize the details of the move.

While an agreement is close, Lens have yet to give their final approval to the transfer. The main point of discussion overnight cantered around the inclusion of a purchase option for Juventus. The proposed deal would see Danso join the Bianconeri on loan with an option to buy set at €25 million, plus an additional €2 million in bonuses tied to certain objectives.

Juventus are optimistic about closing the deal on Friday, January 31. ............

Girona hijacks Santos move for Arthur with better salary coverage

Jurgen Klopp solves Liverpool midfield problem with Brazilian flying in to sign season-long loan deal

Arthur Melo appears to be nearing a resolution to his difficult time at Juventus, with a potential move to Girona now on the cards. The midfielder has been frozen out of the Juventus first team for the first half of the season and has been actively seeking an exit during the January transfer window.

The Brazilian was initially expected to join Santos, with reports earlier this week indicating that a return to his homeland was close. Juventus were keen on offloading Arthur to save on his wages, particularly after he became surplus to requirements under their current management. ............

With Santos emerging as a serious option, talks with the Brazilian club progressed, and a deal appeared imminent. However, Girona entered the race for the 28-year-old’s signature just yesterday, and they are now leading the chase. The Spanish club is offering a more favourable financial package, including covering a larger portion of Arthur’s salary than Santos was prepared to.

This development has reportedly convinced Juventus to favour Girona as the midfielder’s next destination. Discussions are advancing rapidly, and Arthur is believed to be close to reaching an agreement with the La Liga side, which could see him revive his career in Spain. ............

Juventus is waiting for Lens to accept their offer for Danso but there is a huge risk

Wolves negotiating to sign Austrian defender of Ghanaian descent Kevin Danso - Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results - GHANAsoccernet

Juventus are keen to bring Kevin Danso to Turin this month and have entered discussions with Lens about a potential transfer. The Austrian defender, currently a key player for the Ligue 1 side, has attracted significant interest from other clubs, including Rennes, who are reportedly willing to make an outright purchase.

Juventus, however, have proposed a loan deal with an initial fee and additional bonuses as part of their offer. ............

The main obstacle to the deal lies with Lens, who must decide whether to accept Juventus’ loan proposal or opt for Rennes’ outright purchase offer. The latter could prove more appealing to the French club, given the immediate financial benefits of a permanent transfer.

Danso is reportedly open to a move to Turin, provided both clubs can agree on the terms of his departure. However, Juventus face stiff competition from Rennes, and the risk of missing out on the player is growing. If Lens prioritise an outright sale, it could shift the momentum in favour of the Ligue 1 rivals. ............
