Daniele Rugani’s agent and Chelsea broker Fali Ramadani are in Milan for tonight’s negotiations with Juventus for a €50m transfer.

 

Sportitalia and other sources claim Ramadani flew in today and there will be a summit this evening with Juve director of sport Fabio Paratici and Rugani's agent Davide Torchia.

 

The main subject being discussed today is Rugani, as new Chelsea Coach Maurizio Sarri wants him with the squad for their pre-season trip to Australia.

 

The price-tag is believed to be €50m, but that can be whittled down with the inclusion of performance-related bonuses.

 

Only after the Rugani issue has been resolved can they also begin intensive negotiations to bring Gonzalo Higuain to Stamford Bridge too.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus would sell Daniele Rugani to Chelsea, should the English club bid €50m.

 

New Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is a known admirer of the Italian centre-back and is said to view him as an integral signing.

 

The Italian daily claims that the London club have already had one bid, believed to be in the region of €40m, turned down by the Old Lady.

 

However, it is believed that the Serie A champions may be persuaded to do business if Chelsea return with an improved offer.

 

23-year-old Rugani made only 26 appearances in all competitions for Juve last season, scoring twice.

 

Rugani is one of a number of Serie A targets rumoured to have been identified by Sarri, alongside the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Dries Mertens.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus will only allow Daniele Rugani to join Chelsea if the Blues also make an offer for Gonzalo Higuain.

 

The centre-back has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge throughout this summer’s transfer window, with Maurizio Sarri a huge admirer of his ability.

 

It is thought that the 23-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the London club, reportedly on double the wages he currently earns at Juve.

 

However, the Italian daily claims that the Old Lady also want Chelsea to bid for Higuain, who looks set to leave following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Daniele Rugani’s agent confirms Chelsea have submitted a ‘very important’ offer for his client, but Juventus are reluctant to sell.

 

The Italian centre-back has been linked with a move to the Premier League club throughout this summer’s transfer window.

 

And Davide Torchia admits the Stamford Bridge club have made their interest in the 23-year-old official by submitting a formal offer, although he would not disclose the figure.

 

“A very important offer has come in for Rugani from Chelsea”.

 

“However, Juve don’t want to do a deal and they don’t want to sell the player.

 

“As such, just as with the [Leonardo] Bonucci situation, it seems that anything is possible.”

Juventus have announced that defender Daniele Rugani has extended his contract with the club until 2023.

 

Juve confirmed the news on their official website, while Gazzetta dello Sport previously reported Rugani would earn €3m a season with the new arrangement.

 

The 24-year-old had been expected to push on this term, but Leonardo Bonucci’s return has limited him to just 14 appearances.

 

Nonetheless the Bianconeri reportedly rejected offers from the likes of Chelsea last summer for the stopper, who has seven Italy caps.

With the arrivals of Theo Hernandez and Rade Krunic finalized and Ismael Bennacer along with Angel Correa a step away from the Rossoneri, Milan are now fully focused on reinforcing the centre-back department, with Juventus' Merih Demiral being the club's number one goal.

Marco Giampaolo is currently dealing with numerical issues, as the only two players available for the centre-back roles are Mateo Musacchio and Alessio Romagnoli, in addition to the youngster Matteo Gabbia and with Mattia Caldara sidelined with an injury.

The centre-back had been the subject of several offers from the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Napoli in recent months, but always turned them down.

 

Now that Matthijs de Ligt and Merih Demiral have arrived, inevitably there will be even fewer opportunities for the Italian.

 

“I don’t know what Juve have in mind, but they will certainly make their evaluations with many players, all of them at a high level,” agent Davide Torchia told Tuttomercatoweb.

 

“With the balance needed in the squad and also economically, it is possible Juventus will try to sell someone. When you go to Juventus, you are aware that there’s competition for places.

 

“He knows what Maurizio Sarri wants, having worked with him at Empoli, but on the other hand, a player like Daniele must have the desire to push for more.

 

“Obviously, the signals from the club have to be precise: there are five defenders now and if a player only has one game per year in the Coppa Italia, he has to consider his options.

 

“If they continue to believe in the player and the Coach knows that too, then he’ll continue the growth process. I think that is the objective of the club, too.”

 

Chelsea had tried to reunite Rugani with Sarri only a few months ago in the Premier League.

 

“Last season the decision to say no to Chelsea was not just the club, but ours too. We were happy to stay and Juve were happy to keep us.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly gone cold on Ruben Dias and will instead bid €30m for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.

 

According to the Express and Star, Wolves are not prepared to meet Benfica’s ‘extortionate’ asking price for Dias – previously linked with Juve.

 

With that in mind, Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira follows up an initial report from Sportitalia, explaining the English side are ‘ready’ to offer €30m for Rugani.

 

That could satisfy the Bianconeri’s demands of a permanent transfer after they recently chucked out Arsenal’s proposal of two-year loan with an option to buy.

 

The 25-year-old is going into the new season as the Old Lady’s fifth-choice centre-back, behind Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci, Matthijs de Ligt and Merih Demiral.

At the back, Daniele Rugani has been linked with a move away from Turin.

 

Rugani, 25, is under contract in Turin until 2023, having only recently signed a contract extension in March.

According to Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, the Gunners have the all-clear from Rugani to complete the move.

 

It would be a salary worth €4m per year plus performance-related bonuses.

The 25-year-old centre-back is no longer in Juve’s plans after the arrival of Matthijs de Ligt and Merih Demiral.

 

He has been in talks with Roma and Monaco, with a €30m asking price potentially spread out into €5m loan with obligation to buy for another €25m.

Calciomercato.com and Corriere dello Sport both write a deal is close to going through on the basis of a loan with option or obligation to buy.

 

As it stands, Roma are leaning towards a €5m season-long loan with a €20m option to buy, as opposed to a free loan with €25m obligation to buy.

 

The defender would have also committed to a five-year contract worth €2.5m plus bonuses.

There had been talk already of the Giallorossi pumping the brakes on the move,as Juve wanted €24m plus youth team players Alessio Riccardi and Zan Celar.

 

However, that would’ve taken the value of the transfer to around €40m rather than the original €30m.

 

Sportitalia claim Roma offered €10m plus the two youth players and no more.

 

Riccardi showed on Instagram that he was not prepared to leave the Lupi and now transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla claims the whole deal has been scrapped.

 

Negotiations broke down definitively and Juve must find someone else to take the Italy international centre-back, who is surplus to requirements.

Juventus have confirmed that Italy international defender Daniele Rugani has tested positive for COVID-19, known as the Coronavirus.

 

In a statement released on Wednesday evening, the club announced that Rugani has been diagnosed with the Coronavirus, but currently has no symptoms of the illness.

 

“The footballer, Daniele Rugani has tested positive for Coronavirus-COVID-19 and is currently asymptomatic,” read a statement.

 

“Juventus Football Club is currently activating all the isolation procedures required by law, including those who have had contact with him.”

 

The Bianconeri had a training session today, so this would effectively mean putting the entire squad and staff into quarantine.

Juventus defender Daniele Rugani was the first Serie A player to test positive for coronavirus and his girlfriend revealed she is pregnant. “I hope it won’t affect the baby.”

 

The Italy international is one of two Juve players to have tested positive, along with Blaise Matuidi, sending the whole squad and staff into quarantine in case they will develop symptoms.

 

There is another concerning aspect to the Rugani situation, as girlfriend Michela Persico revealed she is expecting.

According to multiple sources, the deal is worth €1.5m with Rennes covering his salary for the entire 2020-21 season.
