The final Champions League group game kicks off on Wednesday at 20.45 CET - 19.45 GMT. “Dybala will certainly play some of the second half. I have let him return gradually from his injury, but Mandzukic and Higuain will start,” said the Coach in his Press conference. “Everyone is fine. If I decide to play four at the back, then Stefano Sturaro will be the full-back, otherwise it’ll be three. It’s unlikely Giorgio Chiellini will play. He was out for a long time, so it’s only right to let him recover at his own pace. “Alex Sandro and Sami Khedira will rest, so Patrice Evra and Mario Lemina will start. Marko Pjaca is recovering, but we won’t see him again in 2016.” Allegri was asked whether it was perhaps better for Juve to finish second in the group behind Sevilla, considering the difficulties experienced by some of the other big clubs, who’ll end up in the second pot of the draw. “It makes me laugh because for months we got criticised for not starting the group well, because it was so important to finish top of the group and get advantages, now you’re asking us if we’d be better off finishing second. You’re ridiculous! “The important thing tomorrow is to start aggressive and get the game on track quickly, because it’s not easy when the opposition puts 10 men behind the ball.” http://www.goal.com/en/tables/uefa-champions-league/10?ICID=MP_TN_167 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Juve are already assured of a place in the Champions League knockout stages following their 3-1 win against Sevilla a fortnight ago but need a victory to guarantee finishing in top spot. That would appear a foregone conclusion, with Dinamo rock-bottom of the group without a point or goal from their five games so far. They have also conceded 13 times - including four goals at home to Juve back in September - but Allegri does not believe that means things will be easy for his side in Turin on Wednesday. He said at his pre-match press conference: ``At this stage of the competition we said we wanted to finish first at all costs, and that is the case tomorrow. ``We want to win against Dinamo, and to do that we have to be aggressive from the start, given that presumably our opponents will close ranks, and scoring goals is not easy if your opponents have 10 men behind the ball. ``We need to be full of attacking intent from the first whistle tomorrow in order to build an early lead that will then enable us to preserve our energies later in the game.'' Allegri's side are unbeaten in 19 home games in European competition but an injury crisis has left Allegri short of defenders and is threatening to undermine Juve's season. Dani Alves broke his leg in the recent 3-1 defeat at Genoa and Leonardo Bonucci sustained a thigh injury in the same match. Juve are already without Andrea Barzagli (dislocated shoulder), while Giorgio Chiellini has been struggling with a recurring calf problem and may not be risked, while Medhi Benatia has only recently returned from a knee injury. Allegri's problem is compounded by the fact that Stephan Lichtsteiner, back-up for right-back Alves, is not eligible. Winger Marko Pjaca, who joined Juve from Dinamo in the summer, is also out, due a leg injury sustained while on recent international duty with Croatia, but Paulo Dybala is set to return for the first time since October following a thigh strain. Allegri added: ``Paulo Dybala will definitely feature for either all or at least some of the second half against Dinamo. He's been training very well, but isn't quite in the ideal condition yet to play a full 90 minutes, so we need to ease him back into action gradually. That means Mario Mandzukic and Gonzalo Higuain will be partnering one another in attack again.'' Dinamo coach Ivaylo Petev is not without selection problems either as his side chase their first point in Group H. Brazilian midfielder Jonas is suspended, Marko Leskovic, Goncalo Santos and Domagoj Antolic are all sidelined through injury and Alexandru Matel is doubtful. ``I am not afraid of a heavy defeat in Torino,'' Petev said. ``I'm sure that all my players will fight for every ball on the pitch. ``I'm positive we will play a good game. Our goal was to play in the Champions League. It won't be easy, but we have to try to score our first goal in the last match in the group stage.'' http://www.goal.com/en/tables/uefa-champions-league/10?ICID=MP_TN_167 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Mario Mandzukic is a forward who never much enjoyed competing for a starring role. Some have suggested his poor attitude in part led him to overestimate his own quality, others feel it's because he genuinely believes that with continuity, he can live up to potential and be the star a big club need to challenge for trophies. In recent weeks, one would have to agree with the latter assessment. Massimiliano Allegri understood the player's contemplations and desires to leave Juventus over the summer and chose to appeal to the ambitious boy within. A big club will always require a big squad and good players will always have the chance to play. Mandzukic was presented with a choice. He could go to a club that would guarantee him first-team action every week, but would be unlikely to be targeting the treble, or he could stay and help The Old Lady fulfil their dreams of winning it all. The Croatian striker chose to stay and due to the team's injury crisis -- including a knock to Argentine striker Paulo Dybala -- has been handed the opportunity to play with continuity. Bullish, determined and remarkably generous, Mandzukic has been in tremendous form for the club, playing with panache and acting like a leader on the pitch. While many have been accused of playing to the beat of their own drum for the Bianconeri this season, the Croat has been one of the few who has prioritised the team above individual glory. Scoring goals, creating space, tracking back defensively and making astonishing tackles, Mandzukic has been the warrior Juve have lacked ever since Arturo Vidal departed for Bayern Munich. His performances have shone so brightly that pundits and fans alike are no longer discussing Higuain but instead praising the intense determination of a striker that Juve have truly always loved, even if he didn't always feature. Mandzukic has not only proved efficient in front of the goal, scoring another against Atalanta, but he's quite possibly Juve's best defender at the moment. Over the weekend, no Bianconero produced as many tackles or blocked as many shots as the striker. Always capable of winning his duels, Mandzukic will never be the world's best passer of the ball, lacking the technical brilliance of teammates Dybala and Higuain, but there's no forward more determined to help his side and produce an all-round performance than the former Bayern Munich star. Playing with continuity has helped Mandzukic progress and express his talents within the tactics. His thrilling form will obviously cause Allegri a few headaches as he does not deserve to be benched when Dybala returns to action. However, with Mandzukic's presence hindering Higuain's efficiency, Allegri has obviously contemplated the option of playing all three in a trident. Dybala could unleash Higuain, Mandzukic will unleash Juve. This tactical solution could result in a lot of goals but would there be a place for Miralem Pjanic or even Marko Pjaca? The Bosnian playmaker was outstanding in the game against Atalanta largely due to the fact he enjoyed his high position on the field. Allowed to concentrate on his attacking play, the midfielder roamed, assisted and initiated beautiful offensive patterns of play. Asked to play further back and it seemed Pjanic strugglee to inspire. The 4-3-1-2 formation was made for the playmaker. Fitting in all Juve's best player into a balanced formation will prove almost impossible, yet as Allegri proved on Saturday, with the benefit of time he can produce excellence. However, it's unlikely that the chosen shape going forward will be the 3-5-2 formation. In a recent survey conducted by Tuttosport, 69 percent of readers voted for a switch to a fou- man back-line presumably in hopes that would help produce more effective offensive displays. Yet their wish won't be granted for now as against Dinamo Zagreb, Allegri has no genuine right-back, so he is likely to return to the tried and tested 3-5-2 shape. With Stephan Lichtsteiner not included in the Champions League squad and Dani Alves out with injury, it's thought the coach will deploy Alex Sandro-Patrice Evra and Juan Cuadrado as wing-backs and Mandzukic alongside Higuain up top. Based on the performance of the Croatian team against Juventus in the first leg, it's fair to presume they will not provide the required level of competition. However, it is in these matches that Juve tend to suffer the most so it's vital the Bianconeri play with intensity and intelligence to seal the win and maintain their winning momentum going forward. http://www.goal.com/en/tables/uefa-champions-league/10?ICID=MP_TN_167 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Manager Massimiliano Allegri spoke to the media in his pre-match press conference earlier today. "It seems like a formality, but you have still got to go out there and win the games. "It's important that we conclude the group stage in the best way possible. "Finishing first or second changes little because it comes down to the draw and if you want to go all the way, you have to face the best teams anyway so let's just think about tomorrow's game for now." Allegri mentioned that Paulo Dybala has been training again and could get some time on the pitch tomorrow - “Dybala will certainly play some of the second half. It’s been a muddling campaign, but despite the mixed performances, the Bianconeri are undefeated, despite missing a number of key first-team players for most the season. On the plus side, Andrea Barzagli is back with the squad and training again, while Paulo Dybala is expected to play tonight. It was also a very successful change to the 4-3-1-2 formation. Instead of the tried and trusted three-man defence which has become the hallmark of successful Bianconeri teams this decade, both under Allegri and predecessor Antonio Conte, Giorgio Chiellini and Daniele Rugani were flanked by full-backs Alex Sandro and Stephan Lichtsteiner. The change in shape was also visible further forward, with Miralem Pjanic putting in a fine performance and grabbing two assists in an advanced role behind Gonzalo Higuain and Mario Mandzukic. All in all, it was a good night’s work for Juve and their Coach – they maintained their four-point lead over closest challengers Roma and Milan, while ensuring the disappointing loss against Genoa the previous week can be put down to a blip rather than anything more serious. Of course, Allegri may well not have seen fit to change his system had it not been for both Leonardo Bonucci and Dani Alves joining Andrea Barzagli on the Bianconeri injury list following that defeat at Genoa. After all, this was only the second time this season that he had opted to waver from three at the back in Serie A, the other occasion having been an unconvincing 2-1 home victory over Udinese. Nevertheless, it may be something we begin to see more often from Juve over the coming weeks. Allegri insists the switch was more than mere experimentation and with Bonucci side-lined until after the New Year with a hamstring injury and Barzagli’s return date still unknown, it could make sense for the Serie A champions to continue in their new formation. The fact Allegri has lined up with a four-man defence in Juventus’ last two Champions League matches, all the while sticking with a 3-5-2 system domestically, suggests he believes it to be his best chance of delivering the European success the fans so desperately crave. If this is indeed the case, it would surely be prudent to spend the next couple of months fine-tuning the system in preparation for the resumption of Europe’s premier club competition in February. Juve’s final Champions League group game against Dinamo Zagreb, a match they are expected to win comfortably regardless of formation, presents Allegri with another opportunity to see his players in their new shape. He has already confirmed Higuain and Mandzukic will face the Croatian side, so it will be interesting to see whether Pjanic is given another run out and a chance to further demonstrate his effectiveness in the trequartista role. The Bosnian has struggled to find his place in Turin, used in a variety of midfield positions, but the trequartista – sitting behind the strikers – seems to have struck a chord. At last we might start to see the Pjanic who so impressed at Roma. This cannot be a perfect replica, of course, because Lichtsteiner is not on the Champions League squad list. It means we may well see Stefano Sturaro re-routed to the right-back slot. After that come difficult Serie A assignments, with a trip to local rivals Torino followed by a home meeting with second placed Roma. Though playing 4-3-1-2 in those encounters may be viewed as an unnecessary risk by some, Juve will remain favourites to defend their domestic title once more regardless of the results. If they can successfully make the transition, however, it may just be that their injury-induced reshuffle benefits Juventus down the line in Europe. http://www.goal.com/en/tables/uefa-champions-league/10?ICID=MP_TN_167 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Unsurprisingly, readers would like to see more of what they saw in that game. That started with the formation chosen, as the 4-3-1-2 formation makes its BWRAO survey debut on the year. How it was used though, was divided significantly. It seemed as though readers were divided between treating this as a rotation game, or a must-win, although more chose to treat it as a must-win. Same line-up as Saturday, but with Juan at RB and Lemina replacing Sturaro Rest Marchisio and Buffon. Experiment with formation since we are already advancing. We need to make a statement to youngsters that they can develop if we can afford it. This can be seen in the goalkeeping votes, as Neto received a significant amount of votes (11 percent) for a Champions League game, as well as No. 3 keeper Emil Audero getting three votes. For the backline, Daniele Rugani received the highest amount of votes over anyone else on the team (including Gigi Buffon). We all knew the day would come where he would cement himself as a reliable, every day center back, and I’m glad that day has seemingly arrived. The kid is on fire these days, and it’s fun to watch. Giorgio Chiellini was voted as his CB partner, while Alex Sandro covers left and Juan Cuadrado takes over the right back position. This is not a position that he is completely unfamiliar in, as transfermarkt has him there once for Fiorentina and once for Lecce — I would have thought it’d be more than that. If he does show that he’s playable there, it would make Max Allegri’s decision to leave Stephan Lichtsteiner off the Champions League roster a little bit better, as I’m sure Cuadrado was his backup plan on the right side all along. 3-5-2 just cause we have no available right back, Cuadrado defending in a 4 man back line is crazy Cuadrado as a right fullback may bring us problems defending, but it would give us a beatiful option on the attacks by using him, sometimes, as a winger. Mario Lemina and Stefano Sturaro did get quite a few shouts to start at right back. I’m not totally opposed to trying it out, I just think Cuadrado would do a better job. In the midfield, Miralem Pjanic was voted as the trequartista coming off a strong performance against Atalanta. Let’s hope he’s found his niche role in that position. Claudio Marchisio, Sami Khedira and Lemina (gave him the edge because he was initially left off the survey) were selected behind him. Up front, Gonzalo Higuain and Mario Mandzukic were selected to start. Paulo Dybala received 29 percent of the votes, but it seems like most of BWRAO wouldn’t want to risk Dybala back too quick, given the results without him this year. The results for the best summer signing so had Gonzalo Higuain leading with 56.7 percent, Miralem Pjanic at 37 percent, and Dani Alves at 3.8 percent. For my lineup, I’d treat this game as a must win. The only difference I would make from the community lineup is to play Sturaro instead of Lemina at the RCM spot. What I would do though, is have Sturaro really focus on playing a disciplined, defensive game with minimal pushing forward. I would do this to allow Cuadrado some freedom in the RB position to push forward, and as a safety net in case he gets caught too far up front. It’s probably not much, but it’s the only way I can justify having that type of player moved back into a fullback role. If we go up by two goals, I’d probably immediately switch off some guys that are injury prone or could use the rest like Chiellini, Higuain, and Khedira. I also wouldn’t bring Dybala in any earlier than the 70th minute, and I would only do it if we weren’t winning. Anthony’s Starting XI (4-3-1-2): Gianluigi Buffon; Alex Sandro, Giorgio Chiellini, Daniele Rugani, Juan Cuadrado; Sami Khedira, Claudio Marchisio, Stefano Sturaro; Miralem Pjanic; Mario Mandzukic, Gonzalo Higuain. BWRAO’s Starting XI (4-3-1-2): Gianluigi Buffon; Alex Sandro, Giorgio Chiellini, Daniele Rugani, Juan Cuadrado; Sami Khedira, Claudio Marchisio, Mario Lemina; Miralem Pjanic; Mario Mandzukic, Gonzalo Higuain. http://www.goal.com/en/tables/uefa-champions-league/10?ICID=MP_TN_167 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

It kicks off in Turin at 20.45 CET - 19.45 GMT. The Bianconeri have already qualified for the Round of 16, but need a victory to be sure of first place – although this season that might not exactly be an advantage, as it means the possibility of facing Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and maybe even Real Madrid in the next phase. Max Allegri has an injury crisis on his hands, ruling out Leonardo Bonucci, Dani Alves, Andrea Barzagli and ex-Dinamo Zagreb star Marko Pjaca. Stephan Lichtsteiner is not in the Champions League squad, while Paulo Dybala is expected to make his comeback during the second half after over a month out. A new 3-4-1-2 formation is tested out with Pjanic in a trequartista role behind Mandzukic and Higuain, plus Cuadrado and Kwadwo Asamoah on the wings. Pipita is without a goal in all competition for a month now, so he’ll be particularly eager to make his mark this evening. The real surprise is that Norberto Neto starts in goal to rest Gigi Buffon – and it’ll be the Brazilian’s Champions League debut. Dinamo Zagreb have failed to pick up a single point, or indeed score a goal, in the first five group games. They are on their third Coach of the season, Bulgarian Ivaylo Petev appointed on September 29 – two days after Juve won 4-0 in Zagreb. Zlatko Kranjcar had started the campaign and left on September 19, replaced by interim boss Zeljko Sopic. Jonas and Davor Lovren are suspended, with Domagoj Antolic, Marko Leskovic and Gonçalo Santos injured. Defender Filip Benkovic is struggling with a back problem, so Gordon Schildenfeld steps in. There are reports this could be the final game in a Dinamo jersey for the likes of Paulo Machado, El Arbi Hilal Soudani, Josip Pivaric and maybe even Ante Coric. Dinamo are aiming to avoid becoming the 18th team to go through the Champions League group phase without a point, the most recent being Maccabi Tel-Aviv last season. Juve have success in their DNA, so after the wrong approach against Genoa, everyone from the club to players focused to get back on track. “It takes qualities like experience, capability, determination and this is what pushes us forward. This squad is fulfilling its objectives in full. There have been some injuries and I don’t think there will be many great opportunities on the market in January. Dinamo were still looking for their first goal, let alone point, of the group phase, but missed Jonas, Davor Lovren, Domagoj Antolic, Marko Leskovic and Gonçalo Santos. It was almost a sensational opening goal within five minutes, as Mario Mandzukic and Miralem Pjanic flicked it on for Gonzalo Higuain, whose finish was parried from point-blank range by the goalkeeper’s legs. Mandzukic sent Higuain running with a through ball, but Sigali got a decisive toe to prod it back towards his goalkeeper. The Croatian striker was on stunning form and sent a defender to ground with a dummy before crossing, but Pjanic put his free header straight into the arms of Dominik Livakovic. Livakovic then fumbled a corner, but Gordon Schildenfeld was on the line to hoof the loose ball clear. Junior Fernandes scuffed a weak effort towards Neto and the deflected Ante Coric shot was also smothered. Pjanic had one of his trademark free kicks curled towards the near top corner, but Livakovic flew to palm it round the post. The young goalkeeper was shaky though when spilling a Mandzukic angled drive just past Higuain. Following a frustrating half in Turin, Juve turned on the style after the restart with Higuain ending his 418-minute goal drought in all competitions and Rugani getting his first European goal. Higuain, Miralem Pjanic and Mario Mandzukic were all wasteful early on as Dominik Livakovic and the Dinamo defence displayed admirable resistance. Their resolve was finally broken on 52 minutes after Mario Lemina had muscled his way through a group of defenders on the edge of the penalty area, the loose ball dropping for the clinical Higuain. And with 17 minutes to play the points were clinched as Rugani rose unmarked to head home Pjanic's pinpoint corner from the right. Victory ensured Juve go into Monday's draw for the knockout stages as group winners, while Dinamo finish the stage without a goal or a point. The opportunities they did manage to create found goalkeeper Livakovic on hand to keep Dinamo level, his first save coming after five minutes to foil a Juve counter-attack. Mandzukic and Pjanic combined superbly to set up Higuain but the striker's effort was deflected wide by the 21-year-old. It took Juve until the 32nd minute to pose a further threat and once again Mandzukic was involved, his neat turn created space for a cross that Pjanic headed straight at Livakovic. Pjanic and Mandzukic both tested the keeper again before the break but neither were able to get the better of the Croatia Under-21 international. After all their difficulties in the first half it took Juve just seven second-half minutes to break the deadlock, Higuain pouncing on a loose ball following Lemina's run and unleashing a thunderous strike past Livakovic. With Gianluigi Buffon rested for the first time in 51 matches in the Champions League, Neto deputised for Massimiliano Allegri's side and he was barely troubled. Instead the action remained at the Dinamo end and Rugani doubled Juve's advantage with a thumping header, the 22-year-old timing his run perfectly to nod home Pjanic's corner. There was one final boost for Juve before the final whistle as Paulo Dybala made his long-awaited return from a thigh injury, the striker playing the final 10 minutes. http://www.goal.com/en/tables/uefa-champions-league/10?ICID=MP_TN_167 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Benatia Wasn’t required to do much defending, allowing him to push forward. Improved in the second half but nonetheless remained sloppy in possession. 24D. Rugani Had very little to do in the middle of a Juventus back line that were rarely tested, and he was on hand to double Juventus’ lead with a towering header. 33P. Evra Started the game on the left side of the Juventus back three but quickly operated as a wing-back due to Juventus’ dominance of the ball. Was unable to find much joy, however, as he seemed reluctant to push as far forward as needed. 8C. Marchisio Performed diligently at the base of the Juventus midfield, where he was smart with his passing and resolute with his defending. 5M. Pjanić Initially failed to shine as much as he usually does, but the Bosnian was great in the second half and set up Rugani’s goal with a lovely cross from a corner. 22K. Asamoah Operated as a wing-back and was slightly too slow during the first half, but he improved after the break and started to link up nicely with Evra in advanced areas. 18M. Lemina Made a few important interceptions when tracking back to defend, and he did well going forward, which was evident when he muscled his way through a sea of Dinamo players to tee up Higuain for Juventus' opener. 9G. Higuaín It was a tough first half for the Argentine due to strong defending by Dinamo, but he took his chance well and fired Juventus into the lead with a thumping strike from the edge of the penalty area. 7J. Cuadrado Often made good runs down the right flank and got himself into advantageous positions, but his crosses were largely well dealt with by the Dinamo defence. 17M. Mandžukić The Croatian was easily one of Juventus' hardest working players. Darted all over the pitch in search of the ball and was a constant handful in front of goal. Dinamo Zagreb 40D. Livaković The young goalkeeper pulled off a few good saves to keep his side in the game, but he also looked nervous on a few occasions, resulting in a couple of fumbles. 19J. Pivarić Had a couple of tough moments when trying to deal with the pace and skill of Cuadrado, but the full-back largely did well to keep the Colombian at bay. 23G. Schildenfeld Showed his experience with a strong and resolute performance throughout, but he arguably should have done better to deal with Rugani in the build-up to the defender's goal. 22L. Sigali Started slowly but was great from then onwards, and was unlucky to leave empty-handed after putting in a strong performance. 25B. Knežević Sat deep and offered good protection for the Dinamo back line. Kept fighting right until the final whistle and was unlucky not to leave with a clean sheet. 14A. Gojak It wasn’t the best of nights for the midfielder, who was unable to spend much time on the ball and was sometimes guilty of leaving gaps available for the Juventus front line. 24A. Ćorić Thoroughly enjoyed himself in his false nine role, where he looked bright on the rare occasions he was able to get on the ball and always tried to cause Juventus problems on the break. 27N. Moro The youngster largely did well, especially when in possession, but he was far too lax with his defending in the build-up to Juventus’ opening goal. 11J. Fernándes Started over on the wing before drifting further infield, but he saw little of the ball due to Juventus’ dominance and was anonymous as a result. 2E. Soudani Was forced to sit deep and defend, which he largely did well, before doing relatively okay when Dinamo were able to break away on quick counter-attacks. 7M. Šitum Was able to push forward on a few occasions in the first half before dropping back in the second. Largely defended well but sometimes struggled to deal with Mandzukic when the striker drifted out wide. Substitutes 11Hernanes Featured late on and put in a good shift, particularly with the ball at his feet. 27S. Sturaro Replaced Marchisio and continued the midfielder's good work with a competent display. 21P. Dybala Marked his return with a splendid performance during the second half. Always looked dangerous and caused all sorts of problems for the Dinamo defenders. Substitutes 77A. Măţel Featured late on and put in a relatively competent performance as Dinamo tried to avoid conceding any more goals. 29I. Fiolić Looked bright on a couple of occasions, but Juventus' dominance of the ball limited his chances to shine. 37P. Stojanovič Made a couple of good runs forward after coming off the substitutes' bench but was unable to make much of an impact. http://www.goal.com/en/tables/uefa-champions-league/10?ICID=MP_TN_167 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The deadlock was finally broken when Mario Lemina fought his way through a crowd of defenders and the ball fell to Higuain just inside the box, who put his right foot through it with such power that Livakovic had no chance. It was Pipita’s first goal after a seven-game drought in all competition. Lemina had a shot deflected just wide of the near post on a Cuadrado assist and on the resulting Pjanic corner, Daniele Rugani jumped relatively undisturbed to nod in Juve’s second from six yards. The centre-back had already scored against Atalanta at the weekend, but this was his first Champions League goal at the third appearance. Paulo Dybala made his comeback after over a month on the sidelines with a hamstring injury and seemed to be in fine fettle, immediately shooting into the arms of the goalkeeper and seeing another strike deflected over the bar. This was the first Juventus Champions League home victory since November 2015 against Manchester City. In the second pot are Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Manchester City, Porto, Sevilla and Benfica. Juve and Napoli go into Pot 1 with Arsenal, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Monaco, Borussia Dortmund and Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City. Juve are very strong and we had a couple of chances on the counter-attack, but paid for a few errors. “I am satisfied, because we had a young team out there today and they have a lot of talent, so have bright careers ahead of them. “We wanted to go as far as possible in the Champions League and the experience helped a lot of our young players to grow. Unfortunately that also leads to too many mistakes in defence and midfield. “Before the game I told the lads to play the way we do in training. After a lifeless first half, Higuain fired Juve ahead shortly after the break before Daniele Rugani headed in a second to wrap up the victory and confirm the Bianconeri's place as group winners. Juve were already through to the knockout stages of the competition but needed a win or for second-placed Sevilla not to beat Lyon in order to top the group. Lyon and Sevilla played out a 0-0 draw in France while Dinamo could finish no higher than bottom of the group. The first half was a frustrating one for Juve manager Massimiliano Allegri, as the Serie A side attacked for most of the period but failed to create an opening against Dinamo. Juve, looking a bit frustrated as the half wore on as Dinamo's defence began strongly, started to take potshots from distance, but none troubled the visitors. Claudio Marchisio, captain for the night, blazed high and wide after a lengthy spell of possession in the 19th minute before Mario Lemina pulled the trigger which missed the target by some distance. The best chance of the first half came just after the half-hour mark when Juan Cuadrado slid the ball to Mario Mandzukic who remained strong and stayed on his feet. The Croatian forward took the ball close to the by-line then shaped to cross before cleverly cutting the ball back inside and chipping a cross into the box where Miralem Pjanic met it with a header. Unfortunately for the Juventus midfielder, he aimed it straight at Dinamo goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic, who gathered the ball to his chest. It was a different story early in the second half, though, as Higuain scored his third goal in five Champions League games after some excellent work by Lemina. Cuadrado worked his way up the right wing and fed the ball to Lemina, who kept on his feet at the edge of the area under immense pressure from the Dinamo defence to offload to Higuain. The ball fell onto the striker's right foot and he hit it first-time into the top left of Livakovic's goal. It was the striker's first goal since Nov. 2, in the 1-1 draw with Lyon in the same competition, and with Lyon and Sevilla locked at 0-0 in their match it put Juve in pole position to finish as group winners. Any doubt on the finishing positions in the group were put to bed in the 73rd minute when Rugani powerfully headed Pjanic's corner past Livakovic. http://www.goal.com/en/tables/uefa-champions-league/10?ICID=MP_TN_167 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

He’s celebrated his teammates’ goals, of course, but over the course of a 10-appearance span from the middle of October to this past weekend, Higuain’s only been able to find the back of the net all of two times. That has since changed. Higuain’s 51st-minute hammer of a shot after some fancy dribbling from Mario Lemina proved to be the difference maker, as Juventus wrapped up the top spot in Group H with a 2-0 win over the group’s last-place team, Dinamo Zagreb. It was the perfect timing after a relatively drab first half that saw Juventus create on a couple of scoring chances. But with Higuain at the ready, Juventus were able to shed any doubt about them locking up the top spot in Group H and coast to a win over a Dinamo Zagreb squad that didn’t score a single goal in their six group stage games this season. Simply put, these are the kinds of games as to why Juve shelled out €90 million for him. Those are the kinds of goals that make the €90 million price tag look worth it. As much as this game had importance when it comes to where Juventus finish in the group, the relatively second-string lineup that Max Allegri fielded should have gotten the job done. Zagreb finished up the group stage with one of the worst goal differentials in the last decade. There wasn’t the massive amount of pressure like there was against Atalanta over the weekend. Sure, Juventus finished with 18 shots in the game, but I don’t know if a lot of people were sitting around say that the end product between the two games were all that comparable. And thus is the beauty of having a player like Higuain on your team. Lemina did a lot of the work and got a somewhat lucky bounce at the end of his dribbling, but Higuain making something out of something that was looking it might be nothing just speaks to his greatness. In just one movement, Higuain positioned his body perfect and unleashed an absolute bullet into the back of the net. That was exactly what Juventus needed — and probably eased a lot of nerves in the process. Not a bad time to win your first game at Juventus Stadium in the group stage, I’d say. RANDOM THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATIONS Dinamo Zagreb had four teenagers in their starting lineup on Wednesday. During my 20 or so years as a Juventus fan, I can’t remember Juve ever doing that. Claudio Marchisio wearing Juventus’ captain’s armband just makes so much sense. It’s one of those things that brings up lots of feelings. It’s not dusty in here, I swear. Daniele Rugani is proving to be worthy of all the playing time he wants right before our very own eyes. The goals he’s scored in the last two games are just an added bonus, of course, but he’s just playing really, really good football overall. This is your reminder that Rugani won’t turn 23 years old until the end of July. That means that he’s still got a lot of room to grow as a player — which is a scary thought considering how good he already is. I think it’s safe to say at this point that, based on the results right in front of us, that Lemina is much more effective in a Sami Khedira-like role in the midfield rather than being a deep-lying midfielder like Marchisio. Paulo Dybala played all of about 10 minutes in his return to the field Wednesday night. He took three shots. I think it’s safe to say he had a little bit of impatience built up during his month or so on the sidelines. He also could have scored a couple of goals, too, which shows you just how ready to fire away he was. And just in case you were wondering, yes, Dybala was sporting Marchisio’s shin guards against Dinamo Zagreb. Just in case you were wondering, the last time Juventus played a Champions League game without Gianluigi Buffon starting in goal was back in 2008. The goalkeeper that night? One Alex Manninger. (Insert joke about Sevilla and the Europa League here) How about this for a relatively intense 24-hour stretch? Juventus travel over to their old stomping grounds at the Stadio Olimpico to face Torino in the first Turin derby of the season, then have the Champions League Round of 16 draw the very next day. A lot of things to happen over the weekend, that’s for sure. Here are the seven teams Juventus can draw: PSG, Benfica, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Real Madrid and Porto. So, uh, yeah, please bounce around that salad bowl kindly, ping-pong balls. http://www.goal.com/en/tables/uefa-champions-league/10?ICID=MP_TN_167 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

I have no problems playing as a trequartista and am happy in any attacking role.” http://www.goal.com/en/tables/uefa-champions-league/10?ICID=MP_TN_167 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Gonzalo Higuain's had been betraying him for over a month. It returned on Wednesday - just when both he and Juventus needed it most. In the context of Champions League Group H, Higuain's sweet second-half strike was important, as it broke the deadlock in a game that the Bianconeri needed to win in order to ensure that they will be seeded in the last-16. However, it was also hugely significant for the fact that it ended a worrying run of four games without a goal. Not since November 2 had Higuain netted for Juve. Even that last goal, against Lyon, had come from the penalty spot. Furthermore, Higuain had also missed a sitter in that game, after being teed up by the tireless Mario Mandzukic. The Croat has been outperforming his fellow forward ever since, a worrying state of affairs for the €90 million summer signing from Napoli. Consequently, with coach Massimiliano Allegri revealing on the eve of the visit of Dinamo Zagbreb that Paulo Dybala was ready to return from injury, there was the very distinct possibility that Higuain might lose his place in the Juve starting line-up for the weekend's derby clash with Torino. He still might, of course, but Higuain's fine goal might just have changed things. Certainly, Higuain was once outperformed by Mandzukic. The Croat has been at his brilliant, bustling best for Juve in recent weeks. Against Atalanta at the weekend, he was everywhere: causing havoc in attack but also dropping back to help out his defence. It was a similar story against Dinamo, with the former Bayern Munich man even popping up at full-back to make a crucial intervention at a time when the game was still in the balance. Higuain, by contrast, was struggling to justify his inclusion. He was bought to score goals – and he wasn’t delivering. Not even against one of the weakest teams that the Champions League has ever seen (Dinamo have become only the third side to fail to score in the Champions League group stage). Not even when he was put in on goal, as happened just five minutes into the game. Mandzukic (who else?) claimed a long ball forward and helped it on to Miralem Pjanic, who had been moved into a trequartista role within a new 3-4-1-2 formation with the dual goal of getting not only the best out of the Bosnian but also the Argentine attacker in front of him. However, although Pjanic promptly lobbed a pass into Higuain’s path, the No.9 was denied by the feet of teenage goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic. His frustration only grew from there, manifesting itself in a reckless challenged that earned him a merited yellow card. At that point, a dismissal seemed as likely as a goal but Higuain kept going and, luckily for him, Lemina did too when he ran into several defenders on the edge of the Dinamo area early in the second half. The French midfielder looked to have lost possession but he powered through and the ball broke invitingly for Higuain, who smashed it home to end both the visitors’ resistance and his own goal drought. With Dybala having featured for the final 15 minutes, Higuain might just have bought himself more time to justify his transfer fee. http://www.goal.com/en/tables/uefa-champions-league/10?ICID=MP_TN_167 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

He did well there on Sunday, less so today because there were fewer spaces, but he still had some good moves. “Juan Cuadrado struggled tonight. The diamond midfield allows us to have more players in the middle, but the first half system was also one that allowed us to win 12 games in Serie A. It’s all about giving the opponent few reference points.” Juventus won their group, as did Napoli, but that means the risk of facing Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester City. “It all depends on the ball that gets pulled out from the pot. In any case, sooner or later we’re going to have to face them all.” Does Allegri expect a new midfielder to be added to his squad during the January transfer window? “We are not lacking anything and should make the most of our players. We just need to improve in terms of our team football and organisation.” http://www.goal.com/en/tables/uefa-champions-league/10?ICID=MP_TN_167 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The trophy holders failed to win their group thanks to a last-gasp 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund this evening. It means they will face one of the group winners in the Round of 16, which include Juventus and Napoli. “I am eager to avoid Juventus, but we can’t do anything about it and just have to wait and see what the draw gives us,” Zidane told Mediaset Premium. “I don’t want to be paired with Juventus for both reasons of the heart and the fact they are a very strong team,” added the former Juve player. “Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain are great forwards, but I don’t want to compare them to my squad. Juve have their players and we have ours.” http://www.goal.com/en/tables/uefa-champions-league/10?ICID=MP_TN_167 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Second-half goals from Gonzalo Higuain - his first in 418 minutes of action - and Daniele Rugani sealed the victory and Juventus' progression to the last 16 as group winners. But Allegri claimed that fate alone determines whether that gives his side an advantage in Monday's draw for the knockout stages. "It all depends on the ball that gets pulled out from the pot. In any case, sooner or later we’re going to have to face them all," he told Mediaset Premium. Juventus struggled for rhythm in the first half, before a tactical switch allowed them to take control of the game against Dinamo, who finish the group stage pointless. "I changed system because we needed an extra man in the middle of the park, as we were a little slow. "The second half was a little better and Dinamo opened up after the first goal, then dropped off physically and it became easier for us.
