Dutchman Bjorn Kuipers has been confirmed as the referee for Juventus’ Champions League quarter-final second leg at Barcelona on Wednesday.

The appointment will not be welcomed by Juve, judging by Kuipers’ previous, as they have failed to win any of their four games with him at the helm.

The Bianconeri registered 1-1 draws with Borussia Monchengladbach and Olympique Lyonnais in the Champions League, while they were held to another stalemate by Fiorentina and lost 4-1 to Fulham in the Europa League.

Juventus centre-back Giorgio Chiellini has insisted that his side still have work to do in order to qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The Italian champions will travel to Barcelona on Wednesday night for the second leg of their quarter-final, holding a 3-0 lead from the first leg in Turin last week.

Despite being the favourites to advance, Chiellini has warned his teammates of the dangers facing them, notably Barcelona's front three of Lionel MessiNeymar and Luis Suarez.

"If we can keep their key players away from the danger areas, press them high up the field and remain compact and organized, it will make life very difficult for them. If we go there, sit back and try to soak up pressure, we will lose," Chiellini told his club's official website.

"Barcelona have the best frontline in the world and their three strikers are probably three of the top five individuals. They are extraordinary players, each with their own unique qualities. You prepare for challenges like this by closing the spaces and being brave in what you do.

"These guys are like sharks; if you show a sign of nerves, they smell the blood and finish you off. Instead you have to push them back as far as you can, double up when they are in possession and shut down the lines between defence and midfield."

"If you can escape their press, Barca can struggle with balls over the top into the space behind. Knowing what you need to do though is one thing, producing it when you need to is another thing altogether."

Juventus have not won the European Cup since 1996.

Paulo Dybala is expected to return to full training with Juventus tomorrow, so he’ll be available to face Barcelona.

The Argentinian international went off with an ankle injury against Pescara, following a strong challenge by Sulley Muntari.

La Joya spent today’s training session working apart from the group, receiving treatment on the injury at Vinovo.

However, TuttoJuve believes that he will return to full training tomorrow, meaning he’ll be ready to face Barça on Wednesday.

Dybala scored twice in 3-0 first leg win which has put the Bianconeri in a commanding position in their Champions League Quarter-Final, but Barça overturned a 4-0 deficit against Paris Saint-Germain in the Last 16.

Juve will train tomorrow morning at Vinovo, before flying out to Barcelona in the afternoon.

Dani Alves will face the media alongside Massimiliano Allegri in the pre-match Press conference at 18.30 local time.

How should Juventus line up against Barcelona in the second leg

of the Champions League quarterfinals on Wednesday?

This is what you could call an important game.

First lineup post in a while. Life unfortunately gets in the way sometimes. Juventus head into Camp Nou on Wednesday for the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal against Barcelona.

The Bianconeri are in a solid position to advance with a 3-0 lead after 90 minutes, but of course, there are still 90 minutes to be played. Keeping Barcelona off the scoresheet at home was a big positive, but then again — Barcelona has come back from worse already this year. Juventus will still need to be at their best to advance.

Marko Pjaca remains injured, and I’m writing this a little early so it’s unclear if Paulo Dybala will be ready to go or not. If he is, vote for him. If it is serious, don’t vote for him. Everyone else should be good to go.

I can see the votes being split between going with the 4-2-3-1 and going for the throat, or adding an extra defender to make it a 3-5-2 to try to protect the three-goal lead. The 3-5-2 haters will be upset that I’m even mentioning it as a possibility, but I know for a fact that there’s a substantial quiet group of voters that have and will continue to vote for the 3-5-2.

All things considered, who do you want to start on Wednesday vs. Barcelona? Remember, this is who YOU would select, not who you think Max is going to pick.

Justify an interesting inclusion (optional)(22 reactions)
moise kean can be included.... he could be an unknown thread to Barca rather than Higuain...so that they hv to think more about their clean sheets
Same team as first leg
Don't touch a winning team
dybala as a super-sub because of his injury
Yes..... This is the absolute formation for Juventus
Juve scores early. Max yells fix bayonets and Juve hits on the counter late. 0-2 JUVENTUS 5-0 AGGREGATE
I don't have an interesting inclusion. This is our best line-up and we have to approach this match like it is the final. A defensive mind-set gets up eliminated. Barca can't play defense (in evidence yet again in La Liga a few days ago) and we should be able to score.
Bentacur or Kean
Juve will lose
dani alves to be in attacking trident
Marchisio over Pjanic for defensive reasons
Dybala and Cuadrado will make amazing subs!
Mandzukic : remain under messi's skin
FORZA JUVE
More defensive approach, with counterattack.
Juventus will collapse in Camp Nou
Replacing alves and dybala with Lichsteiner and Marchisio for added emphasis on defense while pushing Pjanic into CAM role for injured Dybala.
I need goals
I went with Lemina instead of Mandzu for more stability. Would bring Mandzu on early second half and switch to 4231
Marchisio of the bench in the second half
Marchisio

Juventus' Paulo Dybala assures he’ll “probably be 100 per cent” to play Barcelona on Wednesday night.

The forward went off injured during the 2-0 win over Pescara at the weekend, and it was feared he could miss the Champions League Quarter-Final second leg.

“Fortunately I’ve been training with the team,” Dybala told TyC Sports.

“I’ll probably be 100 per cent to play Barcelona.”

Dybala recently renewed with the Bianconeri until 2022, and says he never had any doubts about remaining in Turin.

“The renewal was my choice, Juventus have nothing to envy Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Barcelona.

“I talked to them and told them that I wanted to stay, I’m very happy at Juventus.”

Paulo Dybala confirms he’s “100% to play against Barcelona” in Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final second-leg.

Dybala limped off in Juve’s 2-0 victory over Pescara at the weekend and there were doubt’s over his availability after he was pictured limping with a bandage applied to his ankle.

“Fortunately I’ve been training with the team,” Dybala told TyC Sports.

“I’ll probably be 100 per cent to play Barcelona.”

Turning his attention to his recent renewal with Juve, Dybala revealed he had no intention of leaving the Bianconeri any time soon.

“The renewal was my choice, Juventus have nothing to envy Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Barcelona.

“I talked to them and told them that I wanted to stay, I’m very happy at Juventus.”

Gonzalo Higuain believes Juve have to play as they did in Turin and “come out fighting” against Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

The striker spoke to JTV ahead of the second-leg Champions League tie on Wednesday and shared his thoughts on the season so far.

“I’m very satisfied about how the season is going. There’s still just over a month left and we want to go all the way in each competition.”

“This is a crucial moment in our league campaign. It’s not over yet and we’ve 18 points to play for so we can’t take our foot off the gas.

“With each game, however, we’re getting closer and closer to that sixth straight Scudetto we all want so much. We’re in the driving seat.

Juve take a 3-0 lead to Spain when they face Barcelona, but is it enough to progress to the semi-finals?

“I don’t know whether our 3-0 lead will be enough. We have to come out fighting at the Camp Nou and play like we did in the first leg in Turin.

“Barcelona showed against PSG that they’re capable of producing miracles, so we have to be on our toes.

“They’ll be wary of us too, however. We’ll be looking to create opportunities to score and we’re certain that we have what it takes to reach the next round.”

Higuain also spoke about Coach Max Allegri and his input this season.

“For Allegri, all matches are of the utmost importance. He prepares for them in the same way and this allows us to make sure we’re at the races for every single one of them. This is the secret for competing properly on all fronts.”

Barcelona vs. Juventus: Which system does Luis Enrique use?

Barcelona's formation has been a constant source of debate in recent weeks. With no specialist right-back to call upon -- their former regular Dani Alves now plays for the opposition here -- Luis Enrique has been forced to devise complex systems to get around the problem. This has often involved Barcelona playing a hybrid between a three and four-man defence, with poor Sergi Roberto forced to drop in and cover the natural right-back zone. This is particularly tough against Juve, who field a natural centre-forward, Mario Mandzukic, on their left.

This caused Barca all kinds of problems in the first leg, with Juve continually switching play from flank to flank to exploit the space on the outside of Barca's back three before Roberto could retreat into the back four and cover the space. Their goals were extremely similar, stemming from attacks down the flanks and then finding Paulo Dybala, who curled home two lovely goals.

Barca must surely deploy more of a four-man defence this week -- especially because a single concession will leave them needing to score five goals, and while they've already demonstrated their capacity for astonishing comebacks in this competition, five goals against this Juventus side is surely beyond them.

It remains to be seen who will be fielded in that right-back role. With Sergio Busquets returning to his holding midfield position, there would be some logic in using Javier Mascherano there, at least in the opening stages before Barcelona need to go all-out attack. After last week's disaster, however, Luis Enrique needs to recover some of his reputation as a good tactician with some kind of intelligent solution.

r199480_1296x729_16-9.jpg&w=738&site=esp

Barcelona's lack of a specialist right-back is tough against Juventus, for whom former stalwart Dani Alves now features.

Leicester vs. Atletico Madrid: Which side gets opportunities to counterattack?

The meeting between these two sides was always likely to be the most cautious and defensive-minded Champions League quarterfinal tie. Leicester essentially took their title-winning template from Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid, using the same ultra-compact, counterattacking 4-4-2 formation that is so effective at upsetting possession-based opponents.

In a clash between two counterattacking teams, however, the first leg was somewhat dreary. There was only one goal, Antoine Griezmann's penalty, and that stemmed from a counterattacking chance created when Leicester pushed men forward for a set piece. Otherwise, both sides concentrated on denying the other space.

Expect something similar this time around. Atletico can play defensively in the knowledge that a clean sheet will see them progress, but Leicester must also determinedly guard against conceding. One Atletico goal will mean Leicester will need to score three, and very few sides manage that against Simeone's team.

This will therefore probably be a very similar contest to the game in Madrid: two sides sitting back and proactively disrupting their opponents' best form of attack. But sooner or later, Leicester will need to push forward and take the game to Atletico, which will then leave spaces for their speedy forwards to sprint into. Throughout Leicester's incredible run of form over the past 18 months, they've very rarely approached big matches knowing they need to win, and that challenge might prove too difficult against Europe's most ruthless counterattackers.

Real Madrid vs. Bayern Munich: Can Robert Lewandowski provide the difference?

Bayern Munich's preparations for the first leg were thrown into chaos when it emerged that a shoulder injury would keep out Robert Lewandowski, their prolific striker from Poland. Although Thomas Muller is hardly a disastrous replacement, he endured a poor match in Munich and was substituted by Carlo Ancelotti even at a stage when Bayern were behind and chasing the game.

Lewandowski will return at the Santiago Bernabeu, however, and this will be a perfect demonstration of quite how transformative his presence can be. With him up top, Bayern are better in so many ways -- they can play more directly, cross the ball more and they are also more effective at playing passing combinations in dangerous positions on the edge of the box. Lewandowski's touch and link play are somewhat underrated because he's considered a pure No. 9, but his creative skills shouldn't be underestimated.

This may prove crucial, because Real Madrid are often guilty of not protecting their defensive quartet effectively. Casemiro has rightly established himself as a fixture in the holding role, but if Real are overloaded between the lines, the centre-backs can drift out of positions too easily, creating gaps for others to sprint into. Watch for aggressive forward runs from Arturo Vidal and Thiago Alcantara, who know they're more likely to receive clever passes from Lewandowski than Muller.

Lewandowski confirmed his status as a top-class centre-forward against Real four years ago, when he smashed in all four goals in a 4-1 Dortmund victory at the semifinal stage. If Bayern manage to complete a dramatic turnaround here, Lewandowski needs a performance of similar quality.

Monaco vs. Dortmund: Can Monaco shut down the tie?

Although understandably overshadowed by the attack on Dortmund's team bus, the contest between these two young, energetic, attack-minded sides last week produced a brilliantly open game and five goals, with Monaco taking a slender lead back to the south of France. Now, their task is to protect that advantage.

For all Monaco's attacking brilliance in this season's Champions League, their defensive record is very poor. They've only kept one clean sheet in Europe this campaign, the 3-0 home win over CSKA Moscow -- who are notoriously poor on the road -- and they managed to concede three goals away at Bayer Leverkusen and five at Manchester City. They're reasonably good at protecting the defence with hard-working midfield players, but the full-backs fly forward and leave spaces for opponents to counter-attack.

To triumph in this season's competition -- probably the most open the Champions League has been since 2004, when Monaco reached the final -- they'll need to show more tactical intelligence and more defensive solidity at some stage. Left-back Benjamin Mendy has been sensational going forward, but can he remain in a proper defensive position and deny Dortmund's quick attackers space? Can Fabinho resist his forward surges, anchor the midfield and help to see the game out with simple short passes?

Playing more reactively may also help Monaco cause Dortmund problems; Thomas Tuchel's three-man defence was repeatedly exposed by quick moves last week and the speed of the sensational Kylian Mbappe is best in counter-attacking situations. If Monaco show maturity and intelligence here, there's no way they can't go all the way.

Despite picking up a knock against Pescara over the weekend, Juventus striker Paulo Dybala believes he’ll be 100 percent ready for Wednesday’s match against Barcelona.

The Bianconeri are poised to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League after an impressive 3-0 victory over the Blaugrana in the first leg, with the Argentine netting twice.

Alarm bells rang when Dybala was forced off against Pescara on Saturday, but the 23-year-old is confident he’ll be ready for Wednesday’s match at the Camp Nou.

“Luckily I trained with the team,” he told TyC Sports. “I’ll likely be at 100 percent against Barcelona.”

The striker recently signed a new deal with Juventus that runs until 2022, and he made it clear he never had any doubts about staying in Turin.

“The renewal was my decision and Juve are on par with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona,” he added.

“I spoke with them and told them I wanted to stay. I am very happy at Juve.”

Dybala has netted 39 goals in 81 games for Juventus since joining the club from Palermo in 2015.

Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain warns Barcelona “can produce miracles” ahead of the Champions League second leg.

The Bianconeri won 3-0 in Turin in the first game of the Quarter-Final tie, but the Catalan giants overturned a 4-0 deficit in the previous round against Paris Saint-Germain.

“I don’t know whether our 3-0 lead will be enough,” Higuain cautioned, in a preview of his interview with JTV.

“We have to come out fighting at the Camp Nou and play like we did in the first leg in Turin. Barcelona showed against PSG that they’re capable of producing miracles, so we have to be on our toes.

“They need to watch out for us too though, We’ll be looking to create opportunities to score and we’re certain that we have what it takes to reach the next round.

Gianluca Vialli insists that the key to containing Barcelona for Juventus will be to contain the atmosphere at Camp Nou.

The former Bianconeri striker recalled an occasion whilst at Chelsea that saw his side lose control of a second leg time thanks to an atmosphere that was 'on fire'.

But is this the strongest Juve that we have seen in a long time?

"Maybe not by far, but it's a team that can give more certainty,"  the 52-year-old told Gazzetta dello Sport. "They have physical and mental shape, continuity and stability. They have great trust and two things that have developed over time: European stature and respect. Now other teams see this for themselves."

Compared to the first leg Barca will have two more things in their favour: Sergio Busquets and Camp Nou.

"Busquets is worth a lot. The Camp Nou must not be set on fire.

"In 2000 when I coached Chelsea, we went to play there after a 3-1 victory at home in the first leg. In the first half we made a mistake and it was 2-0 for them.

"Then we went to pick them off high and it was 2-1. Up to 10 minutes from the end we were still in the game, but then they scored the third and from there the atmosphere became hell.

"We lost 5-1 in extra time: the skill of Juve will be to ensure that the atmosphere does not swell, and that it does not set the fans on fire."

What about the threat of Lionel Messi?

"I think he will be angry, more involved, he seemed to suffer greatly in the first leg and I think it has become a personal matter. Thus they must pay him even more attention.

What did Vialli think of the first leg performance from Juventus?

"It was an almost perfect start: the team held the ball high, had that aggression, then there was the inevitable waiting phase but also the absorption of pressure and the ability to strike at the right times. A replay of this would be perfect.

"How perfect was Buffon? Without his two fundamental saves everything would have been more complicated.

"The key to the game will be, as they call it in Coverciano, the transition.

"Inevitably Juve must compress to defend, but then in recovery they must be perfect in the first step, in picking up the ball, and the the attackers must work the path that comes from Pjanic or Khedira.

"There inevitably will be pauses when Barca hit the spaces. This is why they need ruthlessness: why it is vital to go for goal. And then? Buffon will be Buffon: Barcelona will create, so they need San Gigi."

Barcelona have another steep comeback attempt ahead of them when they play host to Juventus on Wednesday, hoping to overturn a 3-0 deficit in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final.

Paulo Dybala bagged a brace before Giorgio Chiellini joined the scoring in Turin last Tuesday as the Bianconeri assembled an unexpected three-goal advantage ahead of their trip to Catalonia.

However, Juve manager Massimiliano Allegri has been hit by the news that Dybala could be in a fight to make the return leg after suffering an injury in Saturday's win over Serie A opponents Pescara.

Barca already pulled off one fairytale revival in the round of 16, when they beat Paris Saint-Germain 6-1 in the second leg to topple the French side, although that may not be as simple a task against Italy's kingpins.

Team News

Dybala's fitness is the major concern for Juve ahead of Wednesday's second leg, although Spanish newspaper Sport reported the forward trained on Monday, with the Italian club optimistic over his chances of featuring.

Aaron West of Fox Sports provided video of Dybala leaving Pescara after Sulley Muntari's wayward tackle caused his departure, giving Bianconeri fans more cause for comfort ahead of the visit to Catalonia:

Centre-back Javier Mascherano is Barcelona's only major doubt for Wednesday due to a calf injury, although the Guardian's Michael Cox wasn't impressed with the Argentinian during last Tuesday's opening leg:

Football Italia reported Mascherano missed training for Barca on Sunday as a result of the injury, although Arda Turan looks likely to be available after overcoming an adductor issue.

If Mascherano is deemed unfit, Samuel Umtiti would be the chief option to feature alongside Gerard Pique in central defence, while Jordi Alba could start at left-back after sitting out the first leg.

Both sets of players have been more than willing to engage in fighting talk leading up to Wednesday's second leg at the Camp Nou, with Barca reluctant to give up in their pursuit of another historic comeback.

Despite Juve's 3-0 lead, Barca can count themselves as one team capable of pulling off such a turnaround, and Blaugrana star Neymar sent his opponents a warning ahead of the clash.

He told Brazilian broadcaster Esporte Interativo (h/t the Guardian): "We have to believe we can do it. The other day my father told me one thing which has stayed in my head, and I think it's true. In front of us we have a different team, but Barcelona is the same. And we can do it."

Meanwhile, Juventus defender Chiellini—who scored in Turin last week—suggested his team will be looking to add to their lead in Catalonia when he spoke to Sky Italia (h/t Gianluca Di Marzio):

It's impossible to think to go to Barcelona and defend the 3-0, we know this and so do the other teams. It will be very difficult to not give up a goal at the Camp Nou, like we did in the first leg. We know we need to go there to score, hopefully one more goal than they have.

If we can keep their world class players as far away from goal as possible, by pressing, keeping a high line and being compact, then everything can become more difficult for them. We need to be careful because at home Barcelona always does something magical, but they'll face a team determined to end Luis Enrique's cycle in Europe with Barcelona with a loss.

As was seen against PSG at the Camp Nou on March 8, Barcelona have it in their locker to take the game to elite opposition and score goals in great numbers, although Juventus will be wise to the quality they face.

An away goal for the Italians would almost certainly mean qualification to the semi-finals of this season's Champions League, with Barca's defence perhaps under the magnifying glass more so than their attack.

Vialli: 'Dybala should be new Del Piero'

Gianluca Vialli calls for Juventus forward Paulo Dybala to forget comparisons to Lionel Messi and become 'the new Alessandro Del Piero'.

After praising Coach Max Allegri, the former Bianconeri striker also put the current boss in the same bracket as Marcello Lippi.

"All Coaches seek the confidence of their players, they are the first ones who have to show blind faith in them," the ex-Chelsea man told Gazzetta dello Sport. "If you see how Allegri talks about understanding and valuing them, their eyes light up. And so it was with Lippi.

"Is it imperative that Allegri stays in the future? Of course, yes: there is chemistry, and collaboration with the club.

"One day, before training, Lippi comes to me and says: ‘Today there is too much calm so let's go for a bit of adrenaline.’ It happened like this, but then at one point I went up and told him to stop because if the team sees a captain that is so placid it’s not good and I had to react.

"This Juve reminds me of Italy under Lippi in 2006 in many ways."

What about comparisons between Paulo Dybala and Lionel Messi?

"I'd like that in his head he’s thought of becoming the new Alessandro Del Piero for the future.

"And I’d like him to say he’ll stay at Juventus for 10 years. Neymar says it. Bale says it.

"And Juve are not less than Barca or Real. And I'd also like him to take the number 10 shirt, because he is the one.

"Messi? From the moment you win a big trophy, well, you can bring in certain players."

Gonzalo Higuain didn't score in the first leg, so Vialli gave some advice to settle any second-leg nerves.

"I would tell him not to worry, that the goals do not count, but what matters is doing what you have been doing and the goals will come.

"Barça will try to put four offensive players on to create a one-on-one with the defenders, if they have no help, they will be in difficulty.

"Juve are not going to the Camp Nou to do just one thing. They will surprise you, they have the ability to do many things. They can do it."

Iniesta: ‘Score as soon as possible’

Andres Iniesta acknowledges Barcelona “must try to score as soon as possible” against Juventus.

The Bluagrana trail 3-0 from the first leg of the Champions League Quarter-Final, but overcame a 4-0 first leg defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the previous round.

“There are a lot of similarities,” Iniesta noted in the pre-match Press conference.“There are a lot of points in terms of the requirement to score, granting very few or no opportunities to the opponents, and that has to be the mindset, the approach to the game from the first minute.

“We need to try and scoreas soon as possible and see how the game unfolds, be patient and know how to suffer, how to push when needed and try to make the most of our opportunities.

“In my opinion there’s nothing else we can do. We can’t get nervous if the goals don’t come right away, they’ll have to come, we’ll need to work throughout the game and minimise their chances.

“The first leg was a bad result for us, because we didn’t do things properly as everyone saw.

“Now the result is difficult to overturn, not least because of the opponents we’re facing.

“That said, we have the potential and the players to turn around this elimination, or at least to try.

“We need to force the play, create moments and chances to put them at risk of elimination, that has to be our mentality.

“It all comes down to playing the perfect match in every sense, and that’s what we need to think about now.”

Despite the incredible comeback against PSG in the previous round, Iniesta acknowledged that tomorrow’s match would be different.

“Although the games are similar in terms of the circumstances, there are other aspects to be considered.

“I think Juve have conceded two or three goals in the entire Champions League, those are the stats and they are relevant, but nothing changes for us.

“I still see my team as having enough strength to score goals and turn around this very difficult tie.

“If don’t know if what we experienced with PSG will influence them, because the realities are different.

“I’m sure they know that a player playing for Barcelona can cause problems and they’ll try to make sure it’s not possible.”

‘Barcelona have to attack’

Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta admits “we have to attack, then we’ll see what Juventus do”.

The Bianconeri won 3-0 in the first leg of the Champions League Quarter-Final, and travel to Camp Nou tomorrow knowing an away goal would leave their opponents needing five.

However, the Spanish champions will be looking to score goals, rather than worrying about conceding.

“We can’t have any other approach to the game than to attack,” Iniesta confirmed, sitting alongside Coach Luis Enrique in the pre-match Press conference.

“We have to attack, create as many chances as possible then we’ll see what Juve do or don’t do.

“Whether they sit back and defend or try to push us high up, our approach won’t change because the situation demands that there can only be one approach.

“We can’t contemplate the possibility of relaxing, we have to try to score goals and limit our opponents’ chances.

“It’s true that during the match, depending on how it’s going, there will be times where we either need to attack more quickly or more patiently, with more possession of the ball.

“The style of football we’re going to play is very clear though, and that’s what we’ll try to do from kick-off.

"Juventus? I can't tell, I can't guess what they'll do. They have a result which is hugely in their favour so they have two options.

"Either than can try to defend the result or they can go looking for a goal. They've had a really good result, but I don't know the mindset of their Coach [Max Allegri].

"The result is bad for us so all we can do is try to score goals and create doubts for Juve, I can't predict what they'll do."

The situation is, of course, very similar to the Last 16 tie with Paris Saint-Germain, where Barça overcame a 4-0 first leg defeat with a 6-1 win at Camp Nou.

“We played badly in Turin, especially in the first half. That reality means we’re now in a similar situation. These things happen, and now we have to try and turn the situation around.

“Doing it a second time is difficult, it’s complicated but if we can create uncertainty and force the play, make sure that the crowd and the team have the energy to attack then we’ll have a chance of turning it around.

“It’s difficult, because it means we need to force the game from the first minute, mentally, physically and tactically.

“We need a perfect match because we’re in a very particular situation where we have to create."

Would it take the best performance of Barcelona's season to turn things around?

"Yes, probably," Iniesta confirmed.

"These things are consistent, a perfect match would mean the best performance of the season.

"Against PSG we almost got a goal in the first minutes of the first half, and another at the end of the second.

"I don't know what will happen tomorrow, maybe goals will come in the middle of the first half or early in the second, what we're looking to do is focus on getting them and limit their chances.

"Juve are one of the best teams in Europe today, they've dominated their League from the start and they have great players.

"They're a very difficult opponent, but we need to push things to the limit and make sure positive things can happen for us."

Luis Enrique predicts Barcelona “will need five” to go through against Juventus in tomorrow’s Champions League Quarter-Final.

The Catalan giants were beaten 3-0 in the first leg in Turin, and it appears the Bluagrana Coach expects the Italian champions to score at Camp Nou.

“Bearing in mind that the opponent will have chances and can score a goal, we’ll need five,” Enrique predicted in his pre-match Press conference.

“There’s no need to play a perfect game, we just need to be effective, create chances, get goals and create a situation where we reduce our opponents’ self-confidence.

“We can do it at Camp Nou, we’ll need a good attitude, aggression with and without the ball and we need to give the fans a reason to jump right from the start.

“If we do that we can have a night like three weeks ago [against Paris Saint-Germain].

“We want to limit a great team in Juve as much as we can and showcase our own virtues.

“We’re convinced of what we have to do and how we can do it, maybe tomorrow will be another night in which we need to calm the players to control their excitement.

“All those who were at Camp Nou for the night with PSG have the chance to experience another historic evening, we’ll do everything in our power to try.

“We know Barcelona can score three times in three minutes, and we’ll push together right up until the 95th-minute.

"Max Allegri said Juventus will need two? Well if Allegri said that then my calculations are wrong, we'll need six."

'Barcelona still the best on their day but Juventus

can win the Champions League' - Birindelli

The ex-Bianconeri defender believes the Old Lady are the more balanced side

but knows from experience how difficult it can be to triumph at Camp Nou.

Alessando Birindelli believes that Juventus can win this season's Champions League but warned his former club against taking anything for granted against a Barcelona side that he believes remains the best in the world on their day.

The Bianconeri will take a commanding 3-0 lead into Wednesday's quarter-final second leg clash at Camp Nou, after a stirring performance in Turin last week that featured an early Paulo Dybala double and a second-half header from Giorgio Chiellini.

The game exposed Barca's defensive frailties, as well as their propensity to self-destruct mentally, and Birindelli is confident that the Old Lady will progress to the last four.

However, Birindelli is preaching caution, arguing that while the Blaugrana are not as strong as they were when they defeated Juve in the 2015 final in Berlin Luis Enrique's men proved in their historic 6-1 win over PSG in the last 16 that they are still unstoppable when they are in the right mood.

"I wasn't very surprised by what happened in Turin," the former defender told Goal. "The Bianconeri are very motivated and in the last few seasons, they have grown enormously in this competition.

"Barca, when they are lacking a little from a mental point of view, can endure very negative evenings.

"We must not forget, however, that when they decide to play, they are still the best in the world.

"But I think Juve are now a more mature team, also from a tactical perspective, with their suffocating pressing and exceptional technical qualities.

"Certainly, if you're not good across the board, you couldn't produce a performance like that against Barca at Juventus Stadium.

"It's a squad that can go all the way and we should not even over-estimate the importance of having great overall balance formed by an iron defence, a powerful midfield and a lethal attack."

Juventus Barcelona 2003

Birindelli knows just how tough it is to play at Camp Nou, though. Indeed, he played a key part in one of the Bianconeri's finest ever European triumphs, when they went to Catalunya in 2003 and triumphed 2-1 after extra-time - despite only having 10 men from the 79th minute in due to Edgar Davids' dismissal.

The Italy international had been introduced at half-time, when the game was still scoreless, and watched as Pavel Nedved put the visitors 1-0 ahead on the night, and 2-1 up on aggregate, only for Xavi to level the game and tie soon after.

Juve were then reduced to 10 men when Davids collected a second booking but they still managed to prevail, with Birindelli breaking away in the 114th minute to tee up Marcelo Zalayeta for the winner.

Pavel Nedved Juventus Barcelona 2003

"Honestly, only after the passing of so much time have I realised the significance of these moments," Birindelli admits.

"Still today, for example, people stop me and thank me for that cross and for the goal that I scored against Deportivo La Coruna. In short, unforgettable moments.

"It had been a tough game. The Blaugrana had us on the ropes by throwing their full repertoire of skills at us: maximum-speed passing, draining possession and constant movement between the lines.

"We did well on the counter-attack, though, even if we suffered a lot physically because Barca have always been a team that make you run a lot and if you get caught short anywhere, you risk being opened up with great ease.

Zalayeta Juventus Barcelona 2003

"Mauro [Camoranesi] had not been having a great game and, during the break, [coach Marcello] Lippi decided to put me in right away.

"I managed to get into the mentality of the match and, undoubtedly, playing that pass for Marcelo was a source of great satisfaction.

"Looking back, I consider myself fortunate. I knew how to manage my career well. I knew my limits and I didn't push myself beyond them.

"It's clear that one must never lack ambition but, personally, with Juventus I walked away with a lot of pride. I hope that the fans enjoyed those times too."

Iniesta refuses to confirm Barcelona future

The Spain international's current deal is up next year, but he was not drawn

on questions over his future ahead of Wednesday's Juve clash.

Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta declined to say whether he would continue at Camp Nou as he remains focused on overcoming the odds in the Champions League.

The midfielder, 32, came up through the ranks at La Masia and has been a crucial part of the Catalans' incredible success story over the last decade.

But his contract expires in June 2018 and when asked if he would end his career at his boyhood club, Iniesta preferred not to answer.

"You have caught me out with that question right now," he told reporters ahead of Wednesday's crunch quarter-final return clash against Juventus.

"Tomorrow we are putting everything on the line collectively and individually, and nothing has changed from what I said last time.

"At the end of the season I will weigh up a lot of things and we will see. My hopes and wishes have not changed, but this is not the best time to be talking about it."

Having gone down 3-0 to Juventus last week in Turin, Barcelona must repeat their comeback heroics against Paris Saint-Germain to keep alive their European hopes.

According to Iniesta, the key for Barcelona wiil be scoring early and piling pressure on their opponents.

"In a way there is a similarity there in the need to score goals and also give away few or no chances for the opponent," he considered.

"That has to be our mentality and vision for the game. The earlier we can score the goals the better, but we will have to see how the game plays out.

"We have to stay patient and be prepared to suffer, and above all we have to be ruthless in the chances we get and try not to panic if the goals do not arrive at the start.

"We have to work hard throughout the game and keep [Juventus'] chances to a minimum."

Barcelona Coach Luis Enrique says the 3-0 first leg defeat to Juventus “frees us of all pressure”.

The first leg of the Champions League Quarter-Final tie resulted in a crushing win for the Italians, but the former Roma boss believes that takes all the pressure of his players tomorrow.

“We’re starting from the idea that this is an elimination,” Enrique pointed out in his pre-match Press conference.

“The result means that we have nothing to lose, we’re freed from all pressure and the opponents practically have the Semi-Finals in their pocket.

“They need to decide whether they want to defend or attack, making important decisions. We have only one option: attack, attack, attack and when we relax, attack again.

“We’ll see tomorrow, I don’t know what Juve will do but we’ll play our own game.

“Tomorrow is a Quarter-Final return leg where we lost 3-0. Everything is possible. You can use the word miracle but…

“Can we do it? Without a doubt. Not just that, it’s also easier. The 4-0 [against Paris Saint-Germain] was more complicated, I’m sure if we get the first goal, Camp Nou will get the second and the third will come by itself.”

Javier Mascherano was in doubt for the game, but Enrique has confirmed that he’ll be available for tomorrow.

“It’s excellent news that he has recovered. He trained alone yesterday at a good level and today he trained with the others and is in perfect condition.

“So tomorrow he’ll be available.”

The Coach was then asked if he had been impressed with the Old Lady in the first leg.

"I think Juve played a good first half and we have to improve our level throughout the game," Enrique said.

"They're a great team though, they know how to play both with and without the ball, and it's hard to face a team of their level."

Paulo Dybala trained with the Juventus squad in Vinovo, but Claudio Marchisio began the session working alone.

The Bianconeri fly out to Barcelona at 16.00 local time, as they seek to compete qualification for the Champions League semi-finals, following a 3-0 first leg win.

It was feared Dybala would miss the match after an ankle knock on Saturday against Pescara, but he took part in the full session.

However, Marchisio began the workout away from the rest of the squad, indicating he may have an issue ahead of tomorrow’s game.

Indications from Vinovo are that Massimiliano Allegri will stick with the 4-2-3-1 formation which was so successful in the first leg.

Gianluigi Buffon and Sami Khedira will return after being rested on the weekend, and Dani Alves is expected to face his old club in place of Stephan Lichtsteiner.

The Brazilian’s attacking instincts indicate that, as promised, Allegri is looking to score at Camp Nou.

The Coach has named his squad for the match, and Marchisio and Dybala are both included.

Juventus squad for Barcelona: Buffon, Chiellini, Benatia, Pjanic, Khedira, Cuadrado, Marchisio, Higuain, Alex Sandro, Mattiello, Barzagli, Mandzukic, Lemina, Bonucci, Dybala, Asamoah, Dani Alves, Rugani, Neto, Lichtsteiner, Sturaro, Rincon, Audero

BARCELONA -- Andres Iniesta has said Dani Alves is one of the club's finest-ever foreign signings but he would not swap any of his current teammates for him.

Alves, now at Juventus, faces his former teammates in the Champions League on Wednesday with Juve holding a 3-0 advantage from the first leg.

He left on a free transfer last summer, and Barca captain Iniesta told a news conference: "I think Dani is one of the best foreign signings the club has ever made -- for performances, for everything he gave the club.

"But he took a different path and he's doing really well in Italy. With the squad we have, we have to be 200 percent behind everyone.

"It's not that I want him or don't want him [back] next season, but it's a situation which changed. I wouldn't swap any of my teammates for him."

Doubts have been cast over Iniesta's future recently, with suggestions he could follow Alves out of the club as he moves into the final year of his contract.

The 32-year-old has said he would not stay if he no longer felt important but stressed that his preference would be to remain at the Camp Nou.

"We've got a lot to play for [on Wednesday] -- individually and collectively -- and nothing has changed from what I said a few weeks ago," he said.

"At the end of the season we will look at things, and from there we will make a decision. But my feelings and desires have not changed.

"Now is not the moment to talk about it, though, with the focus on Juventus and everything we're playing for."

Why Barcelona can't repeat Camp Nou

When people talk about footballing miracles, they generally discuss Liverpool's comeback against AC Milan in the 2005 Champions League final and Leicester City's Premier League triumph last season, but it can be argued that Barcelona's successful turnaround against Paris Saint-Germain last month trumped them all. Luis Enrique's side were four goals down after the first leg in France - as well as being without an away goal - but they found a way to score six goals in the reverse fixture in Spain, three of which came from the 88th minute onwards. What happened on that night will forever be remembered as one of sport's most dramatic fightbacks, but do not set your expectations too high ahead of Barcelona hosting Juventus in the second leg of their quarter-final tie on Wednesday evening.

The Barcelona v Juventus betting odds indicate that bookmakers are fearful of lightning striking twice at Camp Nou, but their stance on who will qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions League is based on their need to avoid such financial losses after some extravagant bets ahead of PSG's capitulation. On the flip-side, you are getting much better odds for Juventus progressing through to the last four of the competition and while your profit will be minimal, it is better than being drawn into the suggestion that another chapter will be written into the Barcelona fairytale.

The Catalan giants possess some of the best footballers in the world and Lionel Messi continues to offer a constant threat in the final third alongside Luis Suarez and Neymar, but some of the team are playing with the lack of enthusiasm which sometimes comes hand in hand when a manager announces that he intends to leave a club at the end of the season. That is exactly what Enrique decided to do soon after the start of 2017 and while they remain competitive in La Liga, they do not look like a team who can put a run together which is good enough to see off Real Madrid. They returned to winning ways at the weekend as they defeated Real Sociedad but such a close game is hardly ideal preparation for a team which is strong in all departments.

It would be easy for Juventus to look at Barcelona's weaknesses ahead of the second leg, but they will gain just as much confidence from their own strengths. It probably goes without saying that Barcelona have the best front three in world football but Juventus are most certainly not devoid of quality in the final third and in Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain, they have two of the in-form players both domestically and abroad. Much has been made of Dybala in recent weeks but Higuain has three doubles in his last four appearances. Are Barcelona capable of withstanding the ability of the pair, both individually and in tandem, throughout the 90 minutes? That is open to debate but are Barcelona good enough to score three goals against such a well-oiled defence? The only time that Juventus have conceded so many goals in the league or in Europe this season came in November when they endured a freak 45 minutes away at Genoa, with all three goals coming in the first half.

Juventus' opposition during their current European campaign is not necessarily comparable to Barcelona, but it is worth noting that they have only conceded two goals in nine matches. They have beaten Lyon, Sevilla and Porto all on the road and rather than questioning whether they can only lose by one or two goals in Spain - which is the natural assumption - more focus should be placed on whether they can advance in style. You can get 18/5 on the draw and a massive 5/1 on a Juventus win, and it opens up opportunities in other markets. The likes of Dybala and Higuain to score is being offered at in and around 2/1 and betting odds like that do not come around very often. The speculative punter will go in on Barcelona qualifying for the semi-finals at 17/4 but this is not the Barca, or Juve, of old. Tides are turning and Wednesday night could be the night that Juventus solidify the feeling that Barcelona are no longer the force they once were.

Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain warns “we can do damage” to Barcelona tomorrow.

The Bianconeri hold a 3-0 lead from the first leg of the Champions League Quarter-Final, but they won’t be sitting back at Camp Nou.

“I don’t know if it’s enough, but this lead means we can go there to fight and play our game, do what we did in Turin,” Higuain told Sky.

“They’ve shown that they can turn around a very difficult result, pulling off a miracle, but we know that and we’ll be very attentive.

“We hope we can create scoring chances, because we can do damage.”

Both Juventus and Barcelona have concerns going into the Champions League quarter-final, as seven players are at risk of suspension.

The Bianconeri won the first leg 3-0 in Turin and the decider is at Camp Nou tomorrow evening.

While reaching the semi-final is the first and most obvious aim, there are other issues at play here too.

Whoever gets into the final four of the tournament could face the first leg of the semi-final without some key figures.

Juventus have Sami Khedira, Mario Mandzukic and Juan Cuadrado one booking away from a ban.

Barcelona are in even more precarious condition, as Neymar, Luis Suarez, Gerard Pique and Ivan Rakitic are one yellow card away from suspension.

Dani Alves: 'Juve 60-40 chance'

Dani Alves admits he will be emotional facing “best team in the world” Barcelona, but Juventus have “a 60-40 chance of going through.”

The second leg of the Champions League quarter-final kicks off on Wednesday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT) after a 3-0 first leg victory in Turin.

It is a return to Camp Nou for the Brazilian full-back, who turns 34 next month, as he was at Barcelona from 2008 to 2016.

“This is like my presentation!” joked Dani Alves when the photographers crowded around him in the Press room.

“It’s very emotional being back here. I did not have the opportunity to come back and tread on the Camp Nou turf. I think we’ve got a 60-40 chance of qualification, to show due respect, but we know that all games are tough at Camp Nou and we want to score goals, not just think of defending. We intend to hurt Barca and a goal would make a big difference in this tie.

“At the end of last season we had achieved something remarkable. I said that I had been happy, that I’d be happy to remain, because I am still a Barca supporter from afar, but my career required me to go elsewhere.

“Now I keep Barca in a special corner of my heart, but that needs to be separated from the professionalism at a certain point.”

Dani Alves was asked about the slightly bitter comments he made when leaving the Blaugrana last summer.

“I just wanted to express what I was feeling inside me. I don’t like to keep bad energy trapped inside me, as that would make life bad. I am sorry if someone felt offended, but I simply wanted to get out this bitter-sweet sensation at my departure from Barcelona. I did feel that I was slightly pushed out.

“I used the media in Madrid to express that because I knew they would not manipulate what I said, whereas the media in Barcelona may well have manipulated it.”

Would Dani Alves return to Camp Nou as a player?

“I always give 100 per cent with every club I play for. It was wonderful here, but I think coming back to Barca would need the change of many things, including people’s egos, to recognise the mistakes made.

“Some people loved me in Barcelona and some didn’t. The Catalans are special people, my lifestyle doesn’t really fit in with what they like or what they think it ought to be. I don’t know what the reception will be tomorrow, but I am happy to be back at somewhere I considered my home, even as a rival.”

He was asked what it was like playing with Gonzalo Higuain.

“It’s a great to play alongside figures of this quality, to give your team the chance to continue creating history in football. It’s a privilege and I hope the second leg is similar to the first, so we can challenge at that level.

“When you play at this level, you have to put together all the positive and negative experiences, those of your teammates, and they keep you active, ensuring you are ready for a night of great football, to play at the limits.

“I have no regrets in life, usually, but it’s true that I have sentiments and nostalgia here. That may well have happened, but as I said, I am a professional, I was signed by Juventus to defend their colours and while I am here, I keep that corner of my past locked away.

“I am trying to detach myself from those emotions and it’s tough, but it is what a professional must do.”

Have some of his Juventus teammates asked how to deal with the Camp Nou atmosphere?

“No, nobody asked me. We have a technically gifted side and all my teammates know we must put in an enormous effort, but also that it’s worth it.

“If we overcome Barca, and I hope we do, then I think we’ll be eliminating the best team in the world.

“It’s inevitable that when you see people who have five league titles, you absorb and learn. It’s not as if I know better than them, it’s that we all have to unite our experiences and capabilities to give Juventus the dream of winning the Champions League after 21 years.

“I live for dreams and to make them come true. When I was told that Juve hadn’t won this trophy for such a long time, I was intrigued and eager to help Juventus achieve that dream.”

Luis Enrique was almost surprised to see Dani Alves fight for every ball in the first leg.

“My method of experiencing football is about learning from all those you play with and teach them something too. I have my way of working, which could set the example for younger players. I work with great intensity and that allowed me to write my name in rock, because no man or time can take that away. This is my approach to life and to my work.”

Does Dani Alves fear Andres Iniesta and Leo Messi could follow him out of Camp Nou?

“I think everyone here deserves a statue. It’s important that clubs appreciate people and not just shove them aside when they are no longer needed.”
