Oct 28, 2016 Juventus Coach Max Allegri says tomorrow's clash with Napoli 'won't be decisive' in terms of the title. He went on to stress that Wednesday's match with Lyon in the Champions League is more important as the Bianconeri push towards qualification for the knockout stages of the competition. “Tomorrow’s match is only the 11th round of the campaign, so it won't decide the fate of the title," Allegri told the Press. "The first head to head meeting is never decisive, it is the return legs that always count. “On October 28th last year, we lost against Sassuolo and were 12th in the standings. After a year, things have changed. This shows that you always need balance because in the end, championships are always decided in March. "Tomorrow will be an important game, but the most important game for us will be on Wednesday [against Lyon] because we must try to close out Champions League qualification." The Juve boss also detailed the options available to him for when they host the Partenopei, and confirmed that Claudio Marchisio suffered no further problems with his knee following his return after surgery. "We'll be assessing Claudio Marchisio today. After such a long absence, we need to manage him carefully. He played two weeks ago and had a good match. As for tomorrow, I still have to decide and evaluate. "Fortunately the knee is fine. The problem is that after 72 hours, there may be risks of muscular problems, so I have to be very careful and speak with him. “Lichtsteiner might play, he is training very well and is a serious professional. I must make the choice. "Evra took a shot, and had some hardening on the calf muscle, and will be evaluated today to see whether he will be available or not. "As for Cuadrado, there are games in which I prefer to start him from the beginning. It’s normal that at this time that I have only two alternatives up front in [Mario] Mandzukic and [Gonzalo] Higuain." http://www.goal.com/en/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=TP_TN_110 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Oct 28, 2016 Saturday sees Napoli travel to Turin, looking to knock off Juventus in their own stadium. To do so would see Maurizio Sarri’s men not only establish their own title credentials but also further dent the aura that surrounds the Bianconeri, who have already suffered losses to both Milan clubs this term. Yet this clash is about so much more than the 2016/17 title, its presence on the fixture list provoking memories of yesteryear, of the days when Serie A was undoubtedly the biggest league in Europe and home to the world's best players. Indeed, fans of both teams see it as north vs. south, Piedmont vs. Campania and the perennial title winners against a club that has won the Scudetto just twice. It carries a huge whiff of nostalgia, of the days when Diego Maradona and Michel Platini made the Italian top flight the most prestigious championship in the world. The Argentinian arrived in 1984 after a tempestuous two years with Barcelona, but he was welcomed to his new club with open arms. A local newspaper (h/t ESPN FC) lamented the city’s lack of "a mayor, houses, schools, buses, employment and sanitation” but added that “none of this matters because we have Maradona!" SHARE TWEET El Diego introduced himself to Juventus fans with a stunning free-kick that Bianconeri goalkeeper Stefano Tacconi was powerless to stop. Yet Hellas Verona would surprisingly end that season as champions, with Juventus recapturing the title before the 1986 FIFA World Cup began. It was that tournament at which Maradona had his watershed moment, carrying Argentina to victory almost single-handedly. At the same time, Juventus would undergo a major summer overhaul as long-term coach Giovanni Trapattoni departed for a stint with Inter Milanafter a decade in charge of the Turin giants. Under the veteran boss, the Bianconeri had dominated at home and abroad, winning a plethora of trophies and firmly establishing themselves as Italy’s most powerful club. His tenure saw them clinch six Serie A titles, two Coppa Italias, the 1985 European Cup, a UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, the UEFA Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the 1985 Intercontinental Cup. Set to face Copa Libertadores holders Argentinos Juniors, Juventus were immediately troubled by the state of the pitch at the National Olympic Stadium in Tokyo. While the South American teams often played with more intensity than their European counterparts in this fixture, Juve's desire to create history saw a surprisingly end-to-end display. Carlos Ereros scored past Tacconi with a wonderful lob, the goal cancelled out by a Platini penalty before arguably the most iconic moment of his entire playing career. SHARE TWEET The ball came to him on the edge of the box, and knowing that the pitch was terrible, he took three touches without ever letting it hit the ground. He then dispatched an unstoppable volley into the back of the net and ran off celebrating. The goal was disallowed by the referee, prompting Platini to lay down and glare incredulously at the official who had dared to deny such a breathtaking moment. He eventually guided La Vecchia Signora to glory, however, Tacconi making some incredible stops in the penalty shootout before Platini stepped up to coolly convert the decisive effort. A year later, as the defence of their Serie A title began, it was clear Juventus had lost some of the magic that had once galvanised them. Former Como boss Rino Marchesi had done little to convince fans that he could step into the gaping chasm left by Trapattoni's departure, and the team on the pitch seemed significantly weaker too. The likes of Gaetano Scirea, Antonio Cabrini and Sergio Brio were coming to the end of their careers, while perhaps the most significant change in Serie A was at AC Milan. New owner Silvio Berlusconi was set to enjoy his first full season in charge of the club but had yet to bolster the team with talents such as Ruud Gullit and Marco van Basten. A super team was beginning to take shape in Milan, but despite the fact that duo would not be arriving for another 12 months, the landscape of Italian football was changing nevertheless. Napoli were clearly a team on the rise. Coach Ottavio Bianchi now had Fernando De Napoli and Francesco Romano at his disposal, bolstering a team that already contained the likes of Giuseppe Bruscolotti, Salvatore Bagni and Bruno Giordano. They did so in some style, going undefeated over the first eight rounds, turning their Week 9 clash into a vital encounter that would be hugely influential in the outcome of the title race. Playing at home at the then-Stadio Comunale Vittorio Pozzo, the Bianconeri battled their rivals to a stalemate in the opening 45 minutes. Shortly after the break, the home side took the lead through Michael Laudrup, the Danish forward tapping home after a mix-up in the Napoli box. Yet Napoli were in no mood to roll over for the champions, Maradona pushing his team quickly back into contention. Chances started to flow, only for Tacconi to deny them with a string of incredible saves, including one well-struck free-kick from El Diego. SHARE TWEET It seemed only a matter of time before a Partenopei goal came, however, and Moreno Ferrario soon bundled home from a corner. Their confidence boosted, they took the lead less than a minute later, another corner—this time from Maradona—was volleyed powerfully home at the far post by Giordano. With time running out, Juve went in search of an equaliser, only to be picked off by a swift counter-attack, substitute Giuseppe Volpecina deftly curling the ball past Tacconi from the edge of the box. It was an emphatic victory, one that gave Napoli belief that they could finally win the title, which they went on to do that season. Trapattoni’s Inter emerged as their closest rivals, but the Nerazzurri imploded in the last few weeks of the campaign, and a win over Fiorentina saw Maradona and his team-mates crowned champions of Italy. Oct 28, 2016 Juventus I’m still trying to get to grips with this seasons Juve – We shift between some truly beautiful moments of attacking and dynamic football to playing with all the pace and intensity of a 3rd division side fighting for mid-table mediocrity. That might be a harsh assessment, but some of the performances in recent matches really highlight how average we have been at times. The game against Udinese was an ugly win with few moments of individual effort; The loss to Milan was 90 mins of us trotting around the pitch, chasing shadows; I refuse to say anything of the loss to Inter…Where to next? The midweek victory over Sampdoria showed some positives – Cuadrado playing wider than usual, getting some good deliveries into the box; The return of Claudio Marchisio who showed in 70-odd minutes exactly what we have been missing all season long; We have an almost fully fit squad again with one or two exceptions; The team played well as a unit for most of the game…..but beyond that, I still found it a workmanlike performance, greatly aided by a Sampdoria side that are just outside the relegation zone. There were some great moments, some well taken chances but none of the flair that i expected when we signed players like Gonzalo Higuain and Miralem Pjanic in the summer. Am I expecting too much, too soon? The frustration comes from knowing that we can do so much better as a team. All the component parts are there for us to playing a more attacking, exciting style of football and yet we look like a side that’s yet to show it’s very best, week in, week out. Perhaps i’m being unduly pessimistic, but I really hope with a fully fit squad, we can start showing what we’re truly capable of in the league and beyond. That’t not a criticism of the formation – the 3-5-2 works to our strengths; Rather it’s the idea that, on occasion, we’re driving a Ferrari like a Fiat…..trying to get into 5th gear with the handbrake on…..you get the idea. Attention turns to the visit of Napoli, a game that is naturally being billed as a Scudetto clash despite both managers insisting that it’s too early in the season to be defining to either sides title ambitions. With Juve 2 points clear at the top and having home advantage you’d hope that they have enough to edge a game like this, especially as they’ve yet to beat us at us at the Juve stadium. Napoli endured a tough spell of 3 losses in a row and only just seem to be recovering, despite some worrying moments in both their recent victories over Crotone and Empoli. Allegri has said Marchisio will need to be assessed, just as a precaution – Totally understandable when you consider he’s been out of action since April. If he fails to make the starting XI, we could see Lemina or Hernanes in his place, but the rest of the starting XI is pretty evident. Buffon in goal, Andrea Barzagli, Leo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini in the back line. With Alves playing midweek, Allegri suggested Lichtsteiner might start on the right while Khedira and Pjanic sit in midfield. I’ll venture that Marchisio starts but Patrice Evra took a knock to the calf and is a doubt to make the squad with Alex Sandro taking his place. Paulo Dybala and Marko Pjaca are still a way from returning to the team meaning Mario Mandzukic and Gonzalo Higuain will be the starting strikers for the foreseeable future. Probable lineup: 3-5-2: Buffon; Barzgli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner, Khedira, Marchisio, Pjanic, Sandro; Mandzukic, Higuain. Injuries: Pjaca (fibula), Mandragora (foot), Evra (calf), Dybala (thigh) Suspensions: None. Napoli I wouldn’t even venture to write a preview of Napoli. Our resident Serie A expert Enrico Passarella normally does a far better job with the previews and we hope to have him back in December. Probable lineup: 4-3-3: Reina; Hysaj, Koulibaly, Maksimovic, Ghoulam; Allan, Jorginho, Hamsik; Callejon, Mertens, Insigne Injuries: Milik (knee), Albiol (muscle) Suspensions: Gabbiadini. This was the Scudetto battle throughout last season and could well be again if the Partenopei come away from Turin with a point. Even aside from the form of these sides and top of the table tussle, all eyes will be on Higuain as he comes face to face with his former teammates for the first time since forcing through a €90m transfer to their bitter rivals. Pipita hasn’t scored for four games and it was joked this meant he was saving the goals up to rub it in Napoli’s open wounds. His departure was seen as an affront, but the fact he went to Juventus made it nothing short of a betrayal in the eyes of the fans. The Azzurri would love nothing more than to show him what he’s missing. Of course, that will be tricky considering Napoli are literally without a replacement for the Argentine – Arkadiusz Milik is out for four months with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and Manolo Gabbiadini continues his two-match ban for a reaction foul against Crotone. Maurizio Sarri has no real options other than to field Dries Mertens as a False Nine flanked by Lorenzo Insigne and Jose Callejon. The little Belgian could not be more different to Higuain, but is adapting to the role well, scoring in the midweek 2-0 victory over Empoli. Napoli had plunged into crisis after the Milik setback, losing three competitive games on the bounce, but are back on track with wins over relegation battlers Crotone and Empoli. Juventus, however, represent a very different challenge. Nikola Maksimovic is expected to start in central defence with Kalidou Koulibaly, as Raul Albiol has still not recovered from a muscular problem. Max Allegri isn’t exactly dealing with a full complement of players either, as Paulo Dybala, Marko Pjaca and Patrice Evra are out of action. Higuain and Mario Mandzukic make for an odd couple upfront, though they too are starting to work together. Claudio Marchisio made his comeback from six months out with a torn ACL in Wednesday’s 4-1 thrashing of Sampdoria, but it remains to be seen whether he’ll be able to start again just threedays later. If not, then Mario Lemina and Hernanes are duelling for his spot alongside Sami Khedira and Miralem Pjanic. Juan Cuadrado could be benched in favour of Stephan Lichtsteiner in a more defensive approach to counter Lorenzo Insigne down that flank. Last season it was Simone Zaza who decided the title clash with a late goal coming off the bench. With that in mind and the recent injury problems, the key to this match could well start on the touchline too. Keep an eye on: Gonzalo Higuain (Juventus) – This is the match everyone has been waiting for since the moment Pipita pushed through his move to Turin. Will he score, and if so, will he celebrate against his former teammates? Can Higuain get rid of his reputation as a big game choker by delivering in a Scudetto tussle? Is he going to lose his cool or force Koulibaly to lose his? Form Guide: Juventus (W L W W W) Napoli (W W L L W) Last season: Juventus 1-0 Napoli Stat fact: Napoli have lost their last five Serie A fixtures hosted by Juventus, drawing 2-2 in May 2011 and not winning since a 3-2 thriller in October 2009. The Argentinian scored a record-equalling 36 goals for Napoli last season, winning the Capocannoniere award and the hearts of Azzurri fans everywhere before controversially switching allegiance to the Serie A champions. His contribution to the Juve cause has been modest compared to his exploits in Naples, but, heading into Saturday night's showdown in Turin, Higuain has still registered seven strikes in Bianconero. Allegri would, of course, like the former Real Madrid star to hurt his former employers, but his priority is ensuring his team add three points to Juve's lead over second-placed Roma. Speaking to juventus.com, he said: "His numbers are good, he's already got seven goals and the rest of the team have scored many more. "I'm really happy with what he's doing, even when we're out of possession. "It's not essential that he scores every weekend, we just want to do well in every competition. "The first objective is qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League with a result (against Lyon) on Wednesday, then we've got the Supercoppa in December. "We won't talk about trying to win the league until March. "The table doesn't tell you anything after nine or 10 games. This is the time of the season when you carve out a niche for yourself, and at the moment there are four sides who have done very well." Midfielder Claudio Marchisio could start again after returning from injury to play in the 4-1 victory over Sampdoria while striker Paulo Dybala and defender Patrice Evra are on the treatment table. Napoli arrive in Turin without Arkadiusz Milik, ruled out for five months due to a knee injury, and the suspension of Manolo Gabbiadini leaves the visitors' forward line looking even more lightweight. Since Higuain left and Milik was injured on Poland duty, the southerners' goals have come from the likes of wingers Dries Mertens and Jose Callejon, who have been deployed as makeshift strikers. Boss Maurizio Sarri, unlike the Napoli faithful, harbours no ill will towards Higuain but intends to give him a friendly ticking-off when the pair reunite. "How will I greet him on Saturday?" said Sarri following Wednesday's 2-0 win over Empoli. "Like a father would when talking to a son who has made him angry." The Azzurri are four points behind Juve and Sarri understands how difficult it will be to close that gap. "We're going up against the strongest team in the league, we know that," he told sscnapoli.it. "We will be calm, though, trying not to put too much pressure on ourselves, but we need to be aware of how good we can be when we play with clear heads and without fear." http://www.goal.com/en/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=TP_TN_110 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Higuain controversially left Napoli for Juve over the summer after the Serie A champions activated his €94m release clause, but Allegri feels Partenopei supporters should remember the Argentine’s goalscoring contribution more so than the bitterness from his transfer. “Gonzalo has already scored seven goals,” the Coach explained at a Press conference. “It just so happens that he’s not scored for a few games, but I’m calm, I’m happy with what he’s doing. “We must help him, even if he doesn’t score every Sunday. Oct 28, 2016 One of the most fiercely-contested encounters in the Serie A calendar will take place in Turin on Saturday, as Napoli travel north to take on Juventus. Top of the table after 10 games, the Bianconeri are favourites with bet365 to tighten their grip on pole position by coming out on top against last season’s runners-up. Four points behind in third place, Maurizio Sarri’s team are priced at to record their first league away victory over the champions in seven years. None of the last six Serie A meetings between the sides have resulted in draws, but there are odds of available on this one finishing up all square. While hostilities between these two clubs have been simmering for years due largely to the North-South divide, the rivalry was made even more pronounced this summer when fan favourite Gonzalo Higuain abandoned Naples for Piedmont in an Italian record transfer. Not only does that move strengthen the team that has won each of the last five Scudettos, it also severely weakens the side that ran them the closest last campaign. With Arkadiusz Milik having had his impressive start to life as the Capocannoniere’s replacement cruelly cut short by a long-term injury and with fellow striker Manolo Gabbiadini suspended, the Partenopei may find it harder than ever to outgun their reinforced rivals. Having won their last 21 consecutive Serie A games in their own back yard, Massimiliano Allegri’s team will feel rightly confident of maintaining their dominant home record against a team with four defeats to their name in the last nine away league matches. Considering they have taken maximum points in each of the last five league matches at home to Napoli, those odds seem too good to pass up on Juventus stoking the hatred even further by overcoming their understrength opponents. http://www.goal.com/en/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=TP_TN_110 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Juve can move seven points clear of Napoli in Serie A with victory in Turin, but Cuadrado stressed the Partenopei would pose a “difficult” test for his team. “I’m available to the Coach, trying to take every opportunity so I can repay his faith in me,” the winger told Tuttosport. “I’m waiting for my moment. Oct 28, 2016 Juventus were handed a shock defeat last weekend by fallen giants AC Milan, but recovered in midweek to register a solid 4-1 win over Sampdoria in preparation for for this weekend’s showdown against Napoli. With the memorable win, Milan joined their crosstown rivals Inter as one of only two teams to have defeated Juve this season. Meanwhile, things aren’t so peachy for last year’s runners up Napoli. The Partenopei are trailing Juve by four points and are still reeling from the loss of star striker Gonzalo Higuain. This traditional clash between the giants of north and south Italy was always steeped in animosity; the controversy surrounding Higuain has now brought it to a boiling point. Juventus are overwhelming favourites to win at home. However, Maurizio Sarri will be looking to orchestrate another shock defeat for I Bianconeri as they chase an unprecedented sixth consecutive Scudetto. Team News and Tactics Juventus Juve will be without left-back Patrice Evra and striker Paulo Dybala. However, they have enough talent in their squad to be able to deal with the loss of the duo. The absence of the Frenchman means that Massimiliano Allegri is very likely to field his preferred 3-5-2 formation. The defensive trio will hold a high line hoping to keep the action in the opposition half, especially with the assurance provided by Gianluigi Buffon in goal. The two wing-backs are crucial for Juve’s attacking play, while the strike duo of Higuain and Mario Mandzukic will look to get among the goals. Probable lineup (3-5-2): Buffon; Benatia, Bonucci, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner, Khedira, Pjanic, Marchisio, Alex Sandro; Mandzukic, Higuain Napoli Napoli seem to have found the perfect replacement for Higuain in Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik. However, the forward has been ruled out for the rest of the year with injury, and I Partenopei will have to look elsewhere for goals. Maurizio Sarri has been playing a 4-3-3 formation in the absence of Milik, with Dries Mertens playing as a false 9. This could prove to be a useful tactic against Juventus, as the Belgian can then drop deep and contribute in midfield, an area where Juve are usually dominant. Probable lineup (4-3-3): Reina; Hysaj, Chiriches, Koulibaly, Ghoulam; Allan, Jorginho, Hamsik; Callejon, Mertens, Insigne Key Stats Juventus have lost only one of their last 20 league home games against teams in the top half of the Serie A table. Juve have scored a minimum of two goals in each of their last nine games at home. Napoli haven’t beaten Juventus away since October 2009. Napoli have lost nine of their last 20 league away games against teams in the top half of the Serie A table. Juventus are yet to draw a game in the Serie A this season. Player to watch out for Gonzalo Higuain MILAN, ITALY – OCTOBER 22: Gonzalo Higuain of Juventus FC shows his dejection at the end of the Serie A match between AC Milan and Juventus FC at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on October 22, 2016 in Milan, Italy. (Photo courtesy: Marco Luzzani/Getty Images) Higuain was hailed as the second coming of Partenopei legend Diego Maradona after his exploits last season. However, the 28-year-old striker became public enemy number one after he sensationally jointed the club’s bittter rivals Juventus this past summer. This is the first time the Argentine comes up against his former team. Similar to how Jose Mourinho was the biggest narrative in the Chelsea vs Manchester United game this past week, Higuain will be the major sub-plot on Saturday. Napoli visit Turin with vengeance on their minds as they look to exact revenge for the betrayal of the league’s top goalscorer last season. Prediction Juventus 2 – 1 Napoli Juve are one of the toughest opponents to face away, not just in Italy, but in all of Europe. It will take an exceptional display by Napoli for them to come away with anything from this game. I Partenopei aren’t soaring as high as they were last season. Their record against the established giants of the Serie A is not particularly strong. The 4-2 win over Milan in the second week of the season has been the highlight of their campaign so far, but they fell to a 3-1 defeat to Roma a couple of weeks ago. Juventus will probably take all three points from this game. Higuain will also have the opportunity to further soil his reputation among the Napoli fans by scoring in this game. http://www.goal.com/en/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=TP_TN_110 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Oct 28, 2016 Jose Altafini believes Gonzalo Higuain "has to celebrate” if he scores for Juventus against Napoli. Higuain left the Partenopei this summer when the Bianconeri activated his release clause, and will face his former side for the first time tomorrow. Altafini made the same move in 1972, and the former striker has advice for his fellow South American. “Enough with this story about being ungrateful!” the Brazilian declared in an interview with Sport Mediaset. “If he plays and scores, Higuain has to celebrate. It wouldn’t be wrong to do so, you have to do well for those who pay you! “It’s very normal to change teams, enough of these stories. We have to put an end to this notion of not letting players play against their former teams. “There are players who don’t celebrate when they score against their former teams, but that’s wrong. You play for a team, and it’s only right that you do well for whoever pays you. “I got whistled in Naples all the time when I went to Juve. It’s normal to change teams, even in politics you can change your party. “Higuain has to go out and play, and if he scores he has to celebrate like anyone else. “He’s not celebrating against Napoli, he’s celebrating for his team and for his fans.” http://www.goal.com/en/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=TP_TN_110 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Yet more than pure tactics, this is a tie that pits beautiful football over impressive discipline, southern passion against business-like precision and Gonzalo Higuain against his former team. Off the pitch, the melodrama of such a match can and will cause hysteria. Amid the buildup, Napoli have cast themselves as the humble and downtrodden victim who lost their prodigal son to the evil reach of a greedy empire. In the face of modern-day madness, they are the club that try to do things the right way by playing an aesthetically pleasing style of football and who try to cope despite smaller revenues and the loss of star players to money or injury. Yet Maurizio Sarri is not looking to make excuses. He lost Arkadiusz Milik, but Juventus will be without Paulo Dybala. He lost Higuain, but clubs always stand to lose their best players in much the same way Juventus lost Paul Pogba. Success must be earned despite the hardships and the very fact Sarri understands this is what should worry Allegri, for there is no better tactician to concoct a perfect strategy to defeat the reigning champions than the man who built one of the most exciting teams in the most demanding of cities. First and foremost, Juventus need Claudio Marchisio for this game if they are to aim for victory. It is clear that the Partenopei will target their former striker. An efficient finisher, there is no better way to hurt Juventus than by cutting the supply to the €90 million man. With Dybala absent and Miralem Pjanic struggling to impose the beauty of his football, Higuain requires all the support he can get and his teammates will be more capable of producing for him if Marchisio, who only just returned from injury on Wednesday against Sampdoria, is available, taking care of the dirty work required to launch the attacking brilliance of those around him. Stable, intelligent and responsible, Marchisio not only delivers the right forward passes while positioning himself perfectly to halt the opponent but his presence in midfield alone, on a psychological level, provides the team with added comfort and safety. His value lies in the fact he takes the element of risk away by asserting his character and by taking responsibility. Unlike Hernanes, he's dynamic, he recovers possession and quickly launches it forward, the very quality Allegri said Juventus must improve at and it can really only be done with Marchisio available. He is physically quick but he also processes the ability to launch swift attacks and simplify the game in central areas -- the place the Bianconeri have suffered in the most. Mario Lemina tried and his youthful exuberance provided the team with energy and physicality but he lacked the vision required for the role, succumbing to panic when he failed to read a move. Napoli must and will focus on disrupting Juve's flow in midfield, pressing high up the pitch to provoke mistakes and isolate Higuain. Marchisio will need to work hard but Pjanic will also need to be stubbornly determined, confident that his vision and artistry on the ball can help spur his team to victory. The Bosnian has simply not offered his new side enough. Introverted and liable to disappearing in a game, he needs to fight for his position more, playing for the win even if those around him begin to give up. While Palermo demonstrated the pitfalls of playing Mario Mandzukic alongside Higuain, Sampdoria proved that by working for one another, this partnership could actually produce results. The Croat is, by nature, one who revels in sacrificing himself for the team. Always defending from the top and holding up play, the manner in which he moved left to create space for Higuain to exploit against Sampdoria revealed his intelligence and desire to work. In return, the Argentine also looked to accommodate his new partner. Against Napoli, Higuain might have to be the one who works more for his partner. Napoli will try to close the spaces and limit the support offered and that will especially hurt a player such as Higuain, who enjoys beautiful play and incisive passes. Should that happen then Juventus will need to rely on more old fashioned play, one that relies on the wing-backs widening the pitch and delivering crosses for the usually well-positioned Mandzukic to head in. It will be up to the strikers to read the situation and adapt, working hard to occupy the opponent to create space and opportunities for one another. Playing an exciting brand of football has proved difficult for Allegri and his squad. They still lack the fluidity required to unlock certain games with ease and one only hopes that in time they will find solutions. Until then, grinding out wins is not the worst thing in the world and if Juve have to play ugly to win then so be it. http://www.goal.com/en/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=TP_TN_110 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Oct 29, 2016 The big game between Juventus and Napoli is tonight, but there are still doubts over the line-ups. It kicks off at 20.45 CET - 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT). This was the Scudetto showdown last season and has added layers since Gonzalo Higuain’s €90m transfer to Turin. Max Allegri joked in his Press conference that he might not start Higuain at all after the build-up, but Pipita is guaranteed a place in the XI. With Paulo Dybala and Marko Pjaca injured, the only real option in attack is Higuain with Mario Mandzukic. Patrice Evra is in the Juve squad despite limping off with a calf problem in Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Sampdoria. Claudio Marchisio made his comeback in that match six months after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee and it remains to be seen if he’ll be risked from the start for a second match running. Mario Lemina is suspended in the Champions League against Lyon, so is the most likely to step in rather than Hernanes, but the Brazilian is tipped to play by some sources. Similarly, Stephan Lichtsteiner is the favourite at right-back rather than Dani Alves, as the Swiss international is unavailable for Europe. Napoli are missing hitman Arkadiusz Milik with a torn ACL and his replacement Manolo Gabbiadini is suspended, so again there are precious few alternatives. Dries Mertens impressed in the False 9 role for Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Empoli and got on the scoresheet, also testing Lukasz Skorupski with several good efforts. The little Belgian will again be flanked by Jose Callejon and Lorenzo Insigne, the Italian still seeking his first goal of the season. Raul Albiol remains sidelined with a muscular problem and Nikola Maksimovic is expected to take his place, having been rested in favour of Vlad Chiriches in midweek. There are several choices in midfield and it’s rumoured Maurizio Sarri could drop Jorginho in favour of summer signing Amadou Diawara, bringing more steel rather than creativity. Juventus (probable): Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner, Khedira, Lemina (Hernanes), Pjanic, Alex Sandro; Mandzukic, Higuain Napoli (probable): Reina; Hysaj, Maksimovic, Koulibaly, Ghoulam; Allan, Diawara (Jorginho), Hamsik; Callejon, Mertens, Insigne http://www.goal.com/en/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=TP_TN_110 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Oct 29, 2016 Dino Zoff warned if Napoli lose to Juventus tonight, “it’ll be hard for them to get back on their feet.” It kicks off at 20.45 CET - 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT). “I think Napoli will miss Arkadiusz Milik more than Juve will Paulo Dybala, even if I am glad the Partenopei will play with the ‘little’ trident attack, as they give a sense of unpredictability,” Zoff told Il Mattino newspaper. “Tonight’s game is more important for Napoli, as if they lose in Turin, then it’ll be hard for them to get back on their feet. “Juventus are the favourites, but I expect to see a hard-fought and entertaining match.” All eyes are on Gonzalo Higuain, who shattered Serie A records last season in the Napoli jersey with 36 goals in 35 games, but made the €90m move to Turin. “The way to stop Higuain is by anticipating his movements and cutting off the supply. It’s imperative there are no lapses in concentration,” continued Zoff. “The Napoli defenders already know him well, but that is only an advantage up to a certain point. We are talking about a champion who can score at any moment and in any way. He’s not just any striker.” Zoff was a legendary goalkeeper, so who does he see winning the battle between the posts? “Pepe Reina is extraordinary, but Gigi Buffon is Gigi Buffon…” http://www.goal.com/en/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=TP_TN_110 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Oct 29, 2016 Figures including Carlo Ancelotti, Claudio Ranieri, Cesare Prandelli, Walter Zenga and Andrea Pirlo predict Juventus-Napoli, but see Roma as Scudetto contenders. The showdown kicks off tonight at 20.45 CET - 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT). It is first against third in the Serie A standings, while Roma sit between them and hope to take advantage of any slip-ups. A series of calcio heroes were questioned by La Gazzetta dello Sport, who asked for a prediction on tonight’s game and who will be the main title contenders. “In my view, Juventus will win,” said Bayern Munich Coach Ancelotti. “At this moment Roma seem the most in form of the chasing pack, but compared to Juve they are too inconsistent.” Leicester City manager Ranieri considers Juventus “practically unbeatable on home turf. If Napoli were to win, they’d take back what they lost in the home defeat to Roma. “It’s too early to call the title race, as so far the season hasn’t shown any truly strong contenders.” The vast majority of those polled predicted a Juventus victory tonight, including Hernan Crespo, Mircea Lucescu, Valencia Coach Prandelli, Sassuolo patron Giorgio Squinzi, Luca Toni and Albania tactician Gianni De Biasi. None of the panel tipped Napoli for the win this evening, though Demetrio Albertini, Andrea Stramaccioni, Giuseppe Bergomi, Marco Materazzi, Zenga, Marco Tardelli and Ottavio Bianchi opted for a draw. When it came to picking a main Scudetto rival for holders Juventus, most went for Luciano Spalletti’s Roma. “Roma can trouble the Bianconeri, though at the moment there is a big difference between the teams in many areas,” noted Prandelli. “I say Roma because they play spectacular football and it’s rare that doesn’t bring results,” noted Zenga. “Juve are accustomed to winning and never give up, but Spalletti’s work is narrowing the gap, as is Edin Dzeko’s form.” Former Napoli Coach Bianchi believes “Roma and Napoli are on the same level as the Bianconeri. The gap has been reduced because Juve are so concentrated on the Champions League.” Pirlo is watching from New York and believes “Roma are best-equipped with strength in depth, allowing Spalletti many alternatives. Juve have this consistency and so far the difference is in points Roma dropped unexpectedly.” http://www.goal.com/en/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=TP_TN_110 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Juventus vs. Napoli is the biggest match of the season to date domestically, a matchup that has two good teams playing one another and one massive storyline that has linked to the two clubs together more than ever before in recent memory. Because not every one of us is able to watch every single Serie A match there is, we have enlisted some help to get some more information on Juventus’ opponents this evening. That, as has been customary when we see Juve face one of their most-heated rivals in Napoli, means we enlist the services of the man in charge of SB Nation’s Napoli blog, The Siren’s Song, Conor Dowley. With Conor’s help, we were able to accomplish what we always want to do with these things — ask questions and have them answered by folks who follow Juventus’ opponent that weekend just as close as we keep track of the Bianconeri. So, away we go. And, as always, thanks to Conor for helping us provide some Napoli perspective in a corner where so many things are seen with black and white glasses on 99 percent of the time. BWRAO: Hi, Conor. I was going to ask you about Gonzalo Higuain’s best performances as a Napoli player, but I didn’t want to piss you off so I chose otherwise. To the questions... BWRAO: How would you describe Napoli's performances to date? TSS: Until Arkadiusz Milik got hurt playing for Poland in the last international break, I would have said I was very confident that they could play with Juventus in this match. His movement and instinctual quality up top meshed brilliantly with the rest of Napoli's attack and midfield, allowing them to play fluidly and aggressively. They were excellent with him in the side, and they had the ability to play with almost anyone. Since then, though.... yikes. Losing Milik has stripped Napoli of that dynamism and fluidity, and their attempts to find tactical adjustments have gone for naught. It hasn't helped that Manolo Gabbiadini was garbage most of the time he was on the pitch in Milik's place, and Napoli's attacking depth getting further hampered by his idiotic red card only makes things worse. Napoli were better with Dries Mertens playing as a false nine at midweek, but that came against Empoli and still wasn't all that convincing. So to answer your question more directly, Napoli early in the season were excellent and inspiring. Thanks to Milik's injury and the flux up top since then, though, Napoli have been awful at worst and mediocre at best -- and the timing of this poor form could not be much worse than it is. BWRAO: Why hasn't Lorenzo Insigne been the Lorenzo Insigne from a year ago? TSS: That's a tough question. His form has been off ever since he was robbed at gunpoint early last spring, but this season he's been a constant disappointment. It's not that he's been bad by any means, he's just been so far off what he's capable of being, of being the top attacking talent and constant threat he's capable of being, that it's been hard to watch. It's not helping that there's a big contract dispute going on between him and the team right now, causing distractions and discord at a time when both player and squad need none. As tough as it is to say it, it's starting to look like he may not be long for Napoli -- between the distractions, the inconsistency, and the drama that flares up between him and the fans every time his form dips, it might just be better for everyone at this stage if they part ways. BWRAO: Who, outside of the obvious front three, need to be big-time performers if Napoli want to come out of Saturday's game with points? TSS: Marek Hamsik is the obvious big name, but in midfield it's actually Jorginho who I really want to see step up. The Brazilian started the season in astoundingly good form, but of late fatigue and the general malaise of the squad has seen him fade of late. Napoli need him at his best in this match, because his calm and quality in possession and deeply underrated defensive qualities will be vital against Juventus. The other two who need to be at their best are Kalidou Koulibaly and Nikola Maksimovic. The pair have actually been quite good in defense since Maksimovic was forced into the lineup by an injury to Raul Albiol, but they’ll need to step it up another notch if they're going to keep Juventus' attack at bay. They've got what it takes, but now they need to prove it. (Once again, a thanks to Conor for answering our questions even though he is a busy, busy man. And I am not just saying this because he is the boss of the SBN Italia blogs and I am trying to stay on his good side. Nope, not at all.) http://www.goal.com/en/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=TP_TN_110 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Oct 29, 2016 Gonzalo Higuain faces his former teammates for the first time as Juventus host Napoli in a bitter grudge match for the Scudetto. It kicks off at the Juventus Stadium in Turin at 20.45 CET - 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT). There was already a tense rivalry between these sides and they fought it out for the Serie A title last season, but Higuain leaving for the ‘hated’ northern cousins made him persona non grata in Naples. Pipita comes face to face with his former teammates for the first time and Coach Maurizio Sarri said he’d greet the Argentine “like a son who made me angry.” Kalidou Koulibaly already pledged to give Higuain a rough ride today, but with Raul Albiol injured, he is partnered by Vlad Chiriches rather than €25m summer signing Nikola Maksimovic. There is also a change in midfield, where Jorginho is benched in favour of Amadou Diawara. Manolo Gabbiadini is suspended and Arkadiusz Milik out for at least four months, so Napoli are again forced to use Dries Mertens as a False Nine, flanked by Lorenzo Insigne and Jose Callejon. Juventus miss Paulo Dybala and Marko Pjaca, so Mario Mandzukic partners Higuain in an unusual double centre-forward system. Claudio Marchisio made his comeback after six months in Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Sampdoria, but is not risked for a second consecutive start. Hernanes gets the nod ahead of Mario Lemina in that midfield role. Napoli have lost their last five Serie A fixtures hosted by Juventus, drawing 2-2 in May 2011 and not winning since a 3-2 thriller in October 2009. In these five visits, the Partenopei conceded 12 goals and scored just one. Oct 29, 2016 Marek Hamsik admits he “won’t look Gonzalo Higuain in the eye” as Napoli face Juventus this evening. It kicks off in Turin at 20.45 - 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT). “The game is played on the pitch between two great teams with a great history,” Partenopei captain Hamsik told Mediaset Premium. It will be the first meeting since Higuain forced his €90m summer transfer to Juventus. “It’ll be strange to see Higuain. We are professionals, he is a friend, but we’re not thinking about it. We just won’t look him in the eye and play our game. “We studied many set plays and this season they are an extra weapon for us.” http://www.goal.com/en/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=TP_TN_110 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

It kicks off in Turin at 20.45 - 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT). “We’re very relaxed. Higuain will face it like any other game and his job is to score goals. He’s a great champion, knows how to handle pressure and will certainly have a great performance,” Bonucci told Sky Sport Italia. “Maybe at the start he’ll have some strong emotions, but he’ll shake them off and focus on the match. Higuain is important for us, just as the team is important for him.” Many have wondered whether Pipita will celebrate if he scores against his former teammates. “I think he should celebrate, as in the end he did a lot for Napoli and along with his ex-teammates brought the Azzurri colours higher, but now he represents the Bianconeri and should celebrate for us.” http://www.goal.com/en/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=TP_TN_110 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

It kicks off in Turin at 20.45 - 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT). “Higuain is in good shape, though naturally he cannot forget his past at Napoli and still has an emotional bond there. He is a professional and is focused on the game,” the director general told Mediaset Premium. This week the Mayor of Naples made some offensive statements, suggesting if Higuain were to visit Naples, he’d need to be surrounded by 1,000 security agents and a mobile metal detector. “I read some unfortunate comments from local politicians and frankly it is better to talk about football,” replied Marotta. “We need to give a response in terms of performance, as this is a test that can give us some good pointers going forward. “Whatever the result this evening, it will not be decisive. I agree with Max Allegri when he says the game with Lyon will be more important, but clearly both teams are going for the win.” Marotta was asked about the reports that Juve are planning a swoop for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Pastore. “His is not a profile that interests us. We are already well-covered in that area. Every week the list of players linked with Juventus gets longer, but we cannot have more than 25 players. “Everything can be improved, we cannot achieve perfection, but this group can give us some great moments.” http://www.goal.com/en/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=TP_TN_110 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

This was the Scudetto showdown last season and the rivalry only became more intense after Gonzalo Higuain forced through a €90m transfer to Turin. It was his first time facing these former teammates, partnering Mario Mandzukic because Paulo Dybala and Marko Pjaca were injured. Hernanes stepped in for Claudio Marchisio, who was not fit enough to start two games in three days after six months out with a torn ACL. Arkadiusz Milik and Raul Albiol were injured with Manolo Gabbiadini suspended, but Vlad Chiriches and Amadou Diawara were picked rather than Nikola Maksimovic and Jorginho. Maurizio Sarri said he’d greet Higuain “like a son who made me angry” and that’s precisely what they did, sharing a warm embrace on the touchline before kick-off. Napoli had lost their last five visits to Turin in Serie A, scoring one goal and conceding 12, and won a 3-2 thriller in October 2009. Higuain’s through ball for Mandzukic was over-hit on the counter, while Jose Callejon had the ball in the net only after the offside flag had been raised. Pepe Reina only flapped an Alex Sandro cross into the path of Stephan Lichtsteiner, but the defender ballooned his follow-up into Row Z. The tension rose, as Giorgio Chiellini and Alex Sandro were booked in the space of two minutes, while Lorenzo Insigne wasted a good team move with a poor cross. Higuain went clear on a through ball and his dinked finish at the near post was blocked by a desperate Chiriches tackle. Allan robbed Hernanes in midfield and his snapshot was well smothered by Gigi Buffon. Chiellini pulled up with yet another muscular problem before the break and Max Allegri opted to replace him with Juan Cuadrado, moving to four at the back. Napoli wanted Alex Sandro to be given a second booking for following through on Reina, an incident that sparked a row moments later over the set play. Faouzi Ghoulam’s free kick floated over the bar.
