Mauri: ‘Juventus won’t win Scudetto’

Milan midfielder Jose Mauri says Juventus are “great” but “I don’t think they’ll win the Scudetto”.

The Rossoneri face the defending champions in Turin tomorrow, and are currently two points ahead of the Old Lady.

“The Scudetto?” Mauri considered in an interview with Solo Akragas.

“Fiorentina, Roma and Napoli are playing very well, and are at a good level. We’re improving every day.

“Juventus? They’re great, and they’ll be back, but I don’t think they’ll come and win the Scudetto. Today Milan are above Juve, though they’ve been devastating in recent years.”

Mauri joined the Diavolo from Parma this summer, but has yet to make his Serie A debut for the club.

Juventus V AC Milan – Preview: Bianconeri Out
To Break Serie A Record Against The Rossoneri

http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2015/11/juventus-v-ac-milan-preview-bianconeri-out-to-break-serie-a-record-against-the-rossoneri/?

Nov 20, 2015

Juventus host AC Milan at the Juventus Stadium in Serie A on Saturday night, with both sides looking to continue their good recent domestic form.

The Old Lady will be looking to follow-up their 3-1 victory over Empoli last time out, while the Rossoneri could only manage a 0-0 draw against Atalanta at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza before the international break.

The Bianconeri are currently sitting in seventh position in the standings on 18 points after round 12, nine behind joint leaders Fiorentina and Inter on 27 points. After losing their opening home game 1-0 against Udinese, the Old lady are now unbeaten at the Juventus Stadium in their last five fixtures, winning three and drawing two, defeating Atalanta and Torino in their latest games in Turin.

The Diavolo, meanwhile, find themselves in sixth place on 20 points after 12 games. Sinisa Mihajlovic’s men have shown inconsistency on the road so far this campaign, winning two, drawing one and suffering three defeats already in six outings. But with a 3-1 victory over Lazio in their last away fixture, the former Sampdoria tactician will be hoping his side have turned the corner away from the San Siro.

The Old Lady took maximum points from the two meetings between the teams last season, winning 1-0 in Milan thanks to a Carlos Tevez strike in September. The return game in February saw the Bianconeri run out 3-1 winners, with Tevez again on the mark, while Leonardo Bonucci and Alvaro Morata also got their names on the score sheet.

A win for the Turin side on Saturday would be their sixth straight victory over the Rossoneri in a row in Serie A, beating the previous best of five, achieved between 1980-1984 and again between 2013-2015.

Since the 2005/2006 season the sides have met 18 times in Serie A with the Old Lady winning nine, Milan recording five victories and the other four fixtures ending in draws.

Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri’s has doubts over the fitness of goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and defender Stephan Lichtsteiner, but both are expected to start. Five goal top-scorer Paulo Dybala should start up-front with Juan Cuadrado and Alvaro Morata in a 4-3-3 formation.

The Rossoneri could see regular right full-back Mattia De Sciglio being replaced by Ignazio Abate, while there are doubts of the fitness of defender Alex. Top-scorer on six goals Carlos Bacca is expected to lead the line with Alessio Cerci and M’Baye Niang playing support roles in a 4-3-3 formation.

Form Guide: Juventus (D-W-L-W-W) Milan (D-W-W-W-D)

Expected Starting XI’s:

Juventus:

Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Bonucci, Chiellini, Evra; Khedira, Marchisio, Pogba; Cuadrado, Morata, Dybala.

AC Milan:

Donnarumma; Abate, Romagnoli, Mexes, Antonelli; Kucka, Montolivo, Bonaventura; Cerci, Bacca, Niang.

Serie A Preview: Juve-Milan fireworks

http://www.football-italia.net/SerieA/match/preview/69947

Nov 21, 2015

Juventus host Milan in a test of who has achieved a greater semblance of order this season.

Aside from the potential absences of regulars Gianluigi Buffon and Stephan Lichtsteiner, Massimiliano Allegri has everyone available for the Bianconeri. Without the temptation to tinker that dogged the Italian champions in the early phase of their season, the Coach has begun fielding the club’s most natural starting XI. The team is thus enjoying some regularity in their performances at last.

With bad news on the injury front also letting up, the midfield and defence have begun to develop lasting partnerships. Her recent results are growing testimony to a new sense of familiarity. Juventus are looking to put together their first streak of three consecutive wins since April, while they are similarly chasing their fourth straight success at home. A victory on Sunday will be an unprecedented six straight win against the San Siro outfit, and allow them to leapfrog their rivals in the table.

It will not be a cakewalk though. Their Milan visitors have similarly developed a system under Sinisa Mihajlovic, with the resurgent Rossoneri unbeaten in five games. The continued rehabilitation of Alessio Cerci has lent Milan a potent weapon on the wing.

The former Torino man will now join Carlos Bacca in testing a Juventus rearguard comprising an uncharacteristically-suspect Giorgio Chiellini and reserve goalkeeper Neto, who famously fluffed his lines conceding a stoppage-time equaliser against minnows Frosinone on his debut in September. With Mihajlovic looking to restore Milan’s might, he will be eyeing significant strides forward against the champions to signify their progress.

Keep an eye on: Gianluigi Donnarumma (Milan) - The season has moved fast for the talent, but the 16-year-old takes credit for always looking on top of things. His saves ratio is second only to Inter counterpart Samir Handanovic in the League. Milan will need another prodigious display between the posts if they are to come away with a result at Juventus, who have attempted the most shots in Serie A, and whose luck in front of goal has been looking up.

Form guide: Juventus (W W L W D) Milan (D W W W D)

Last season: Juventus 3-1 Milan

Stat fact:
Juventus have not lost any of the games in which Claudio Marchisio has featured from the start.

Juventus (probable):

Neto; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini, Evra; Khedira, Marchisio, Pogba; Cuadrado, Dybala, Morata

Suspended: None

Juventus vs. AC Milan: Team News, Predicted Lineups

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2589545-juventus-vs-ac-milan-team-news-predicted-lineups-live-stream-tv-info?

Nov 21, 2015

Having delivered the intensity of the Rome derby in the final round before the international break, Serie A returns with an equally passionate clash as Milan visit Juventus Stadium on Saturday evening.

Both clubs have endured difficult starts to the 2015/16 campaign, and this encounter will provide a stern test of their recent good form. The Rossoneri arrive in Turin on a five-game unbeaten run, with coach Sinisa Mihajlovic having finally discovered a viable tactical approach for his side.

His 4-3-3 formation helps provide service to leading scorer Carlos Bacca but perhaps exposes a weakness in midfield where Milan lack overall quality and inventiveness. The Colombian has scored six of the club’s 15 league goals thus far, yet they have conceded 16 in the opening 12 rounds of the season.

Juventus will hope to expose that defensive fragility, although the emergence of 16-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma has been a major boost for the visitors. The goalkeeper has kept two clean sheets in his first four appearances, with the Rossoneri having failed to record a shutout before his debut.

Injuries and bad luck have hit Juventus hard this term, but the Bianconeri also appear to have turned the corner in recent weeks, victory over Empoli in their last outing seeing them record back-to-back Serie A wins for the first time.

OptaPaolo ✔ @OptaPaolo
5 - AC Milan have lost five consecutive Serie A games against Juventus for the first time since 1984. Gap.

“It is a final because of how we are doing in the standings,” Alvaro Morata said when La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport asked him about the meeting with Milan. “It is our Clasico due to the history between the two teams.”

That is undoubtedly true, and when the game gets underway, both teams will be desperate to take all three points and continue their climb up the table while damaging the prospects of a genuine rival.

Probable Formations

6351d32417922d1335d000b3c5d72c78_origina

Juventus (4-3-3):
Gigi Buffon; Stephan Lichtsteiner, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Patrice Evra; Sami Khedira, Claudio Marchisio, Paul Pogba; Juan Cuadrado, Alvaro Morata, Paulo Dybala

Unavailable: Martin Caceres, Kwadwo Asamoah, Simone Padoin and Roberto Pereyra (all injured)

Milan: (4-3-3):
Gianluigi Donnarumma; Ignazio Abate, Alex, Alessio Romagnoli, Luca Antonelli; Juraj Kucka; Riccardo Montolivo, Giacomo Bonaventura; Alessio Cerci, Carlos Bacca, M'Baye Niang

Unavailable: Jeremy Menez, Nigel De Jong, Mario Balotelli, Andrea Bertolacci, Diego Lopez (all injured)

Key Battle

If Milan are to emerge from Juventus Stadium with a positive result, they will need Gianluigi Donnarumma to shine once again. As previously mentioned, the 16-year-old has quickly become a key figure for the Rossoneri, with ESPN FC showing he has made 11 saves in his first four professional matches.

He was deservedly handed a place in the recent Italy Under-21 squad and admitted to Sky Italia (h/t Football Italia) that “there is a lot of responsibility on my shoulders.” Donnarumma went on to say he needed “to improve in many areas,” and Juventus will have no shortage of players looking to test his ability.

OptaPaolo ✔ @OptaPaolo
84.6% - Gianluigi Donnarumma has the 2nd best saves ratio behind Handanovic (86.3%) in Serie A this term. Prodigious

Chief among them is perhaps Alvaro Morata, a striker who has yet to recapture his own previous good form. His performances this season were analysed in greater detail in this previous column, but the man himself believes now he is fully healthy that a return to peak condition is sure to follow.

“Honestly, I had some problems physically,” he told La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport. “I played with several problems and that is why I struggled. I haven’t been able to play a full match. Now I am well and you will see that on the field.”

“I hope he has a great career,” Morata added when asked about the prospect of facing Donnarumma, “but that everything goes well once his match against us is over!”

Player to Watch

While Donnarumma has been the one attracting major attention, Alessio Romagnoli also deserves credit for his role in Milan’s recent good form. Former club AS Roma revealed via their official website that the Rossoneri paid them a €25 million fee for the young defender who impressed with Sampdoria last term.

They did so believing he was a sound long-term investment, with CEO Adriano Galliani telling their own official website that in time he would become “one of our leaders, one of those great defenders from the Milan school, one of those to be proud of at San Siro.”

After his shaky start mirrored that of Milan in general, Romagnoli has slowly begun to repay that faith, playing in every minute of their five-game unbeaten streak alongside a variety of partners in central defence.

According to statistics courtesy of WhoScored.com, the 20-year-old has averaged 1.5 tackles, 2.2 interceptions and 5.6 clearances in his 11 appearances, and he will need to be aware of the danger men in the Juve attack.

Odds (via Odds Shark)

Away win: 19-4

Home win: 4-7

Draw: 3-1

Allegri To Welcome Milan With Head Held High

Massimiliano Allegri will host his former employers, AC Milan at the Juventus Stadium on Saturday evening,
Kevin Pogorzelski asks does the 48-year-old get the credit he deserves from either set of supporters?

http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2015/11/allegri-returns-to-milan-with-head-held-high/?

Nov 21, 2015

While Saturday evening will not be Massimiliano Allegri’s first time facing former club AC Milan with Juventus, it is the first since taking the Bianconeri to within one match of a historic treble and can feel somewhat vindicated towards fans that felt he failed with the Rossoneri.

However, it will be a similar story for those that were happy to see the 48-year-old relieved of his managerial duties in January 2014, given the Old Lady’s poor start to Serie A this term.

Somewhat surprisingly, given their own difficulties to adapt to the ideas of new coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, Milan go into the match above the reigning champions – albeit with just two points and one place separating the pair.

After Antonio Conte’s sudden exit, Allegri arrived in Turin with pre-season underway – just six months after his Rossoneri sacking – and looked a risky appointment by the Bianconeri.

Yet, the Italian not only maintained their Serie A dominance but captured a first Coppa Italia in 20 years and led the club to the Champions League final for the first time since 2003.

With Juventus on a run of three consecutive Scudetti, many saw this as the ex-Cagliari coach simply overseeing an already well-oiled machine, particularly given the talent inherited from Conte.

It is an argument that was also aimed at Allegri with reference to his debut season in Milan, where a squad of comparable ability was quickly supplemented with the goalscoring prowess of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the trickery of Robinho.

What some forget, is that despite the know-how of Gennaro Gattuso, Andrea Pirlo, et al the Rossoneri were trophyless since collecting the FIFA World Club Cup in 2007 and had not triumphed domestically since 2003.

However, similar to the Bianconeri’s recent dip in form, the wheels started to come off at Milan when the club allowed a number of senior, or vital, components of the side depart without adequate replacements coming in.

In the space of just one transfer window, out went Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva, along with the experience of Gattuso, Alessandro Nesta, Clarence Seedorf and several others.

Whilst Allegri still managed to steer them to a creditable third place, the Italian tactician could not hide the squad’s inadequacies the following season and departed with them in 11th position.

With Juventus, the Milanisti may finally recognise Allegri’s ‘achievements’ with such an underwhelming group of players that he was forced to work with during those final 6-12 months at the club.

Along with an exhausting campaign last season, the Bianconeri’s recent troubles have clearly been in some part due to the summer departures of Pirlo, Arturo Vidal and Carlos Tevez, but the significant investment in replacing them is starting to be seen.

The way in which the Italian has galvanised a tired group in transition to not only rise through the Serie A rankings but also remain unbeaten in a tough Champions League group deserves plenty of praise.

In Turin on Saturday, do not be surprised if the Rossoneri fans get to witness firsthand the coaches tactical acumen and brush aside the challenge of Mihajlovic’s new look Milan, and continues their ascent towards a fifth consecutive Serie A title.

A heavy defeat could even spell the end of the Serbian coach at the Giuseppe Meazza, however, after a near €100 million investment in the squad this summer, it would be a far more justified axing than Allegri was subjected to.

Milan without Bertolacci for Juventus trip

The injured midfielder has not recovered in time to travel
with the Rossoneri for their Serie A game against Juventus in Turin.

Andrea Bertolacci has been ruled out of Saturday's blockbuster clash between AC Milan and Juventus due to injury.

Bertolacci missed Milan's goalless draw with Atalanta before the international break because of a muscle problem but the Italian midfielder was hopeful of being fit for the trip to Turin.

However, Bertolacci was unable to recover in time and is subsequently absent from Milan's 24-man squad as Sinisa Mihajlovic's men look to move five points clear of Serie A holders Juve, currently in seventh position.

"Apart from Bertolacci and De Jong, we have a full squad available with the exception of the long term absentees Balotelli and Menez. We will see about Bacca," Mihajlovic told reporters.

Juve have fitness concerns of their own but captain Gianluigi Buffon, Mario Mandzukic and Stephan Lichtsteiner are all set to face the 18-time Italian champions.

Poli: AC Milan Are Determined To Beat Juventus

http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2015/11/poli-ac-milan-are-determined-to-beat-juventus/?

Nov 21, 2015

AC Milan midfielder Andrea Poli has said that his side are aiming to defeat Juventus this Saturday at the Juventus Stadium.

The Rossoneri and the Bianconeri will lock horns once again, in a fixture which would normally be a top of the table clash. However, both sides have endured tough starts to their campaign and find themselves in 6th and 7th in the Serie A, respectively.

“This year the league is balanced, we haven’t had a good start,” Poli admitted during an interview with Serie A TV.

“The most devastating moment was certainly the defeat at home against Napoli, although that defeat woke us up a lot and we have improved.

“The greatest moment of our campaign so far has to be the victory at the Olimpico against Lazio, it was the perfect game.”

Milan have yet to defeat Juventus at the Juventus Stadium and the Italian midfielder wants to put an end to that this Saturday as he feels that his side has what it takes to defeat the champions on their home turf.

“Against Juventus, we will have to play a great match,” added Poli.

“They’re a strong side. We have great desire to do well.”

Khedira fails fitness test

http://www.football-italia.net/76063/khedira-fails-fitness-test

Nov 21, 2015

There are reports Leonardo Bonucci, Paul Pogba, Sami Khedira and Mario Mandzukic are dropped for Juventus-Milan.

It kicks off at 20.45 CET - 19.45 GMT.

According to Sky Sport Italia, midfielder Khedira has failed a fitness test and might not even be on the bench in Turin.

Bonucci is rested ahead of the Champions League match with Manchester City, giving Andrea Barzagli a start rather than Daniele Rugani.

Alex Sandro takes over from Patrice Evra on the left, while Hernanes and Stefano Sturaro fill in for Paul Pogba and Khedira.

In attack Juan Cuadrado is expected to complete the trident with Alvaro Morata and Paulo Dybala.

Juventus (probable):

Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Barzagli, Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Sturaro, Hernanes, Marchisio; Cuadrado, Morata, Dybala

Line-ups: Juventus-Milan

http://www.football-italia.net/76068/line-ups-juventus-milan

Nov 21, 2015

Juventus make big changes as they host Milan in a battle of the struggling giants.

It kicks off at 20.45 CET - 19.45 GMT in Turin.

The Bianconeri picked up more injury problems during international duty and must preserve players for next week’s Champions League showdown with Manchester City.

Max Allegri will court controversy with his choices, though, resting Leonardo Bonucci, Juan Guillermo Cuadrado and Alvaro Morata.

Sami Khedira reportedly failed a fitness test this afternoon, so Stefano Sturaro and trequartista Hernanes must complete the midfield.

Stephan Lichtsteiner shook off an injury he sustained with Switzerland this week and starts at right-back.

Roberto Pereyra, Kwadwo Asamoah, Martin Caceres and Simone Padoin are unavailable.

Milan are under pressure again after a draw with Atalanta, in which President Silvio Berlusconi went into the visitors’ locker room to compliment them.

Mario Balotelli, Jeremy Menez, Nigel de Jong, Andrea Bertolacci and Diego Lopez are out injured, while Mattia De Sciglio is not 100 per cent fit.

Sinisa Mihajlovic sticks with the 4-3-3 system with Carlos Bacca flanked by the pace of M’Baye Niang and Alessio Cerci.

Jack Bonaventura therefore drops back into midfield with Riccardo Montolivo and Juraj Kucka.

Gigi Buffon made his Serie A debut 20 years ago this week. Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma wasn’t born until four years later.

Juventus:

Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Barzagli, Chiellini, Evra; Sturaro, Marchisio, Pogba; Hernanes; Mandzukic, Dybala

Juventus bench: Neto, Rubinho, Rugani, Bonucci, Alex Sandro, Lemina, Vitale, Cuadrado, Morata, Zaza

Milan:

Donnarumma; Abate, Alex, Romagnoli, Antonelli; Kucka, Montolivo, Bonaventura; Cerci, Bacca, Niang

Milan bench: Abbiati, Livieri, De Sciglio, Mexes, Zapata, Calabria, Mauri, Nocerino, Poli, Suso, Honda, Luiz Adriano

Galliani: 'Juve-Milan worth double'

http://www.football-italia.net/76070/galliani-juve-milan-worth-double

Nov 21, 2015

Adriano Galliani said “the points are worth double” in tonight’s Juventus v Milan showdown.

“It’s a very important chapter, though the League is still long and it’s not true that whoever loses is out of the running,” the Rossoneri CEO told Mediaset Premium.

“It is a big game for both sides who hope to qualify for the Champions League, plus it’s a classic fixture in Italian football.

“The points are worth double, because it is a head-to-head for position. In Italy there are seven big clubs who aspire to the Champions League and 50 per cent of them will be left out.

“There’s tension around every club, just think of what Florentino Perez must be thinking now… If the bar is raised, it’s only normal that there is more tension.”

Real Madrid President Perez was insulted by fans after a 4-0 home defeat to Barcelona today.

M’Baye Niang starts in a trident attack, while Juventus use Hernanes as a trequartista.

“I believe above all that Niang can do extra work in midfield or change and move Jack Bonaventura up.”

Marotta: 'Right Juve line-up'

http://www.football-italia.net/76071/marotta-right-juve-line

Nov 21, 2015

Juventus director Beppe Marotta backed “the right line-up” against Milan, using Hernanes as a trequartista.

“It’s the right line-up, picked by the Coach evaluating his men and the characteristics of the opposition,” the director told Mediaset Premium.

“It is an important game for prestige as well as the result. It is not important in terms of the table, but a good performance would give a boost of confidence.

“The performance is a component that indicates the form of a team.”

Roma were pegged back 2-2 by Bologna today, so does that give Juve a better chance to closing on the leading group?

“The fact they drew means nothing, because there are other teams doing very well.”

HT 0-0: Juve and Milan wasteful

http://www.football-italia.net/76075/ht-juve-and-milan-wasteful

Nov 21, 2015

Hernanes and Alessio Cerci wasted golden opportunities, as Juventus and Milan are goalless at half-time.

This was a classic fixture and Juve had won their last five Serie A meetings with the Rossoneri. Sami Khedira, Roberto Pereyra, Kwadwo Asamoah, Martin Caceres and Simone Padoin were injured, plus Leo Bonucci rested and Hernanes brought in as a trequartista. The visitors missed Mario Balotelli, Jeremy Menez, Nigel de Jong, Andrea Bertolacci and Diego Lopez.

Gigi Buffon made his Serie A debut 20 years ago this week, a good four years before Gianluigi Donnarumma was born. The Milan teen showed he’s got character, controlling an Alex back-pass under pressure from Paulo Dybala.

M’Baye Niang’s volley whistled wide, but Hernanes hit a fresh-air shot on a great Paul Pogba pull-back. Claudio Marchisio unleashed a screamer that Donnarumma plucked out of the air.

Alessio Cerci also wasted a great opportunity, nodding a cross back to an empty space when he should’ve gone for goal.

Patrice Evra went off with a muscular problem and Hernanes was jeered by his own fans after repeatedly losing possession.

Hernanes came close to scoring, though, as his fierce free kick took a huge deflection and Donnarumma flew to palm it out from under the bar.

Juventus 1-0 AC Milan: Dybala fires
Bianconeri to victory

The Argentine striker's second half goal made the difference in Saturday's
Serie A tie as the Bianconeri leapfrogged Sinisa Mihajlovic's team in the table.

Paulo Dybala's stunning volley was enough to seal a 1-0 win for Juventus against AC Milan as the Serie A champions' resurgence continues.

Striker Dybala beat Gianluigi Donnarumma with a powerful effort from Alex Sandro's cross midway through the second half at Juventus Stadium to secure a third-straight league victory for Massimiliano Allegri's team.

Both sides had struggled to break down the opposition's solid defences, with 16-year-old Milan goalkeeper Donnarumma denying Juve every time they went close to opening the scoring.

Milan pressed for an equaliser but could not find a way past Gianluigi Buffon as Juve leapfrogged Sinisa Mihajlovic's side into sixth place in the table.

Allegri rested Leonardo Bonucci, Juan Cuadrado and Alvaro Morata ahead of Wednesday's key Champions League game against Manchester City. Sami Khedira also failed a fitness test but Stephan Lichtsteiner, Buffon and Mario Mandzukic were passed fit.

Mihajlovic, meanwhile, was without Mario Balotelli, Jeremy Menez, Nigel de Jong, Andrea Bertolacci and Diego Lopez through injury.

The game started at a quick tempo, with Juve's Hernanes curling a shot over the bar and Milan's Juraj Kucka hitting a volley narrowly off target.

Defences were soon well on top with Buffon and Donnarumma only called into action to stop hopeful efforts from well outside the box. Buffon was marking 20 years since he made his first Serie A appearance, in stark contrast to Milan's starlet Donnarumma.

The teenager made a fantastic save shortly before half time, stretching to tip over a free kick from Hernanes that took a wicked deflection off Giacomo Bonaventura's head.

Allegri introduced Bonucci for Hernanes at the break, switching to three at the back in a bid to improve his side's fortunes. The Brazilian had been wasteful in front of goal in the first half.

Kucka had the first chance of the second half, getting above his marker to power a header wide, with Juve substitute Alex Sandro firing off target from Dybala's rapid break moments later.

On the hour mark, Paul Pogba let fly with a swerving strike from well outside the box, but the impressive Donnarumma was again equal to the effort.

The opening goal finally arrived soon after. Dybala had been Juve's brightest player and this time there was nothing Donnarumma could do to prevent the Argentina forward striking a powerful finish on the volley from Sandro's cross.

It was almost 2-0 moments later as Dybala again sprung away from the Milan defence, but Donnarumma saved his low shot at full stretch.

Milan responded strongly and Kucka went close with a volley on the turn after Alessio Cerci had beaten Sandro with ease, but the shot flew over Buffon's bar and Juve held on for a vital victory.

Dybala magic sinks Milan

A moment of magic from Paulo Dybala gave Juventus a third
Serie A win on the bounce, sinking an ineffective Milan.

The Milan teen showed he’s got character, controlling an Alex back-pass under pressure from Dybala.

Leonardo Bonucci replaced Hernanes for the second half, as Juventus moved to a 3-5-2 system. Jack Bonaventura was brought down for what would’ve been a Milan penalty, but the referee whistled a second earlier for Niang’s shove on Stefano Sturaro.

Juraj Kucka couldn’t get enough on his header from a corner and turned wide from six yards, while Alex Sandro’s curler was off target.

Pogba tried a long-range effort that was dipping under the bar, but Donnarumma did just about enough to bat it away.

The game was finally lifted by a moment of magic, as Pogba chipped up a pass, Alex Sandro volleyed a cross down the left which Dybala chested down and smashed in on the left-foot half-volley from seven yards.

Moments later Dybala almost doubled his tally, forcing a low save out of Donnarumma, but Kucka’s chest and volley was over after great work from Cerci.

Mandzukic ballooned over the bar in comical fashion from six yards, but Buffon's first and only real save was deep into stoppages on Cerci at the base of the near post.

Juventus leapfrog over Milan in the Serie A table with this result.

Juventus: Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Barzagli, Chiellini, Evra (Alex Sandro 28); Sturaro, Marchisio, Pogba; Hernanes (Bonucci 46); Mandzukic, Dybala (Morata 81)

Milan: Donnarumma; Abate, Alex, Romagnoli, Antonelli; Kucka (Luiz Adriano 74), Montolivo, Bonaventura; Cerci, Bacca, Niang (Honda 84)

Juventus 1-0 AC Milan:
Bianconeri Grab Big Win

Juventus defeated AC Milan 1-0 at the Juventus Stadium on Saturday night in Serie A, securing their third win in a row.

Paulo Dybala got the only goal of the game thanks to a wonderful control and shot that flew past the impressive Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Both sides came into this match with high levels of optimism, as the Bianconeri had won their previous two Serie A matches whilst the Rossoneri hadn’t lost since the beginning of October.

Massimiliano Allegri’s side began the better of the two teams, with the first real chance of note coming when Claudio Marchisio forced Donnarumma into a smart save.

With the first-half coming to what looked to be a tepid end, the 16-year-old was at the centre of the action once more. Hernanes’ free-kick glanced off the head of Giacomo Bonaventura only for a to get a strong hand to clear the danger.

The second-half opened with a far more scrappy affair until Juventus began to up their tempo and the rather quiet Mario Mandzukic delivered a superb low ball into the box but Paul Pogba was unable to make any room for a shot.

The Frenchman wouldn’t let the half chance faze him as he would then hit a stupendous 35-yard strike that nearly dipped past Donnarumma in the Milan goal.

The deadlock was finally broken when Dybala struck home in brilliant fashion after the hour mark. Alex Sandro hooked the ball into the path of the onrushing Argentinian who did well to chest the ball down before striking the ball into the corner.

Juraj Kucka nearly got Milan back in it with 15 minutes remaining, but his volley flew agonisingly over Gianluigi Buffon’s goal.

Mandzukic saw a final minute chance go begging as Juventus continued their rise up the Serie A table to sixth above their opponents.

Paulo Dybala strike enough for
Juventus win over AC Milan

Paulo Dybala's second-half strike was enough to guide Juventus to a 1-0 victory over AC Milan in their Serie A clash this evening.

The teams exchanged long-range efforts in the opening stages of the game as M'Baye Niang sent his left-footed strike narrowly over the bar, while Claudio Marchisio saw his shot well saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Milan had a good opportunity to take the the lead when a ball over the top of the Juve defence found Alessio Cerci in space in the box, but the forward miscued his header from close range.

Hernanes almost found the breakthrough late in the first half when he lined up a free kick from 25 yards, which took a deflection on its way to goal, but Donnarumma did well to palm the ball over the bar.

In the second half, Alex Sandro came close to unlocking the Milan defence when he raided down the left and cut back inside on to his right foot. The winger fired a curling effort at goal, but his strike crept inches past the post.

Paul Pogba almost produced a moment of brilliance with a strike from 35 yards, but Donnarumma did well to watch the swerving ball to punch the Frenchman's effort over the bar.

Juventus's pressure in the second half paid off when Dybala fired the home side ahead as he finished a neat team move down the left by controlling the ball on his chest before rifling a left-footed volley past Donnarumma.

Juraj Kucka could have brought the visitors level when he managed to find space to fire an effort at goal from inside the six-yard box, but he sent his strike over the bar.

Juventus could have doubled their lead in stoppage time, but Mario Mandzukic scuffed his close-range effort over the bar. However, his side still managed to hold out to clinch the three points, despite a late effort from Cerci.

The result lifts Juve above Milan into sixth place in the table, with Sinisa Mihajlovic's men dropping down into seventh.

Paulo Dybala finds winner to
help Juventus defeat AC Milan

AC Milan continued their torrid run against Juventus as the Serie A champions secured their third league win in a row with a 1-0 victory.

Milan, who arrived in Turin on a five-game unbeaten run, have now lost six consecutive Serie A matches to the Bianconeri as Paulo Dybala's second-half goal proved the difference between the two sides.

With both teams enduring rough starts to the campaign, three points were vital as they try to keep up with the top four. Juventus started positively as Claudio Marchisio and Hernanes tested 16-year-old goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in the Milan goal.

The visitors were happy to defend in numbers and continued to restrict the hosts to long-range efforts in the first half.

The reigning champions could have gone ahead in the closing stages of the first half when Hernanes' free-kick deflected off a Milan defender and Donnarumma had to readjust brilliantly to tip over his shot.

Juve changed their formation at the interval and it paid dividends as Dybala broke the deadlock after 65 minutes. Paul Pogba 's lofted pass was collected by the overlapping Alex Sandro on the left and the Brazilian's cross was chested down by Dybala before he smashed home past Donnarumma.

Dybala could have added a second minutes later but his scuffed shot was comfortably saved.

The teenage goalkeeper then kept his side in it as he dived full stretch to save Pogba's swerving shot.

After a spirited defensive effort in the first half, Milan threw more bodies forward in an attempt to find the equaliser.

The Rossoneri had their first real glimpse of Gianluigi Buffon's goal in the 70th minute but midfielder Juraj Kucka could only sky his volley.

Buffon did, however, have to be alert to make his first save of game as he parried Alessio Cerci's low shot in stoppage time.

Juventus now leapfrog their opponents into sixth place after the victory while Milan drop to seventh.

Juventus vs. AC Milan: Score and
Reaction from 2015 Serie A Match

2jaxac7.jpg

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2591669-juventus-vs-ac-milan-score-and-reaction-from-2015-serie-a-match?

Nov 21, 2015

Juventus beat AC Milan 1-0 to move into sixth place, six points off the top of Serie A. Paulo Dybala settled things in Turin with a well-taken, second-half strike. The result marks more disappointment for Milan manager Sinisa Mihajlovic in what's been a particularly tough start to the season.

But these are three welcome points for Juve, whose title defence has resembled an anaemic crawl at the beginning of this campaign.

Sky Sports detailed both starting 11's.

Ex-Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca started up front for Milan. A tireless worker and gifted finisher, Colombia international Bacca has made a relatively slow start to life with the Rossoneri, scoring six times in 13 Serie A appearances. Further back, 16-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma continued in goal.

Former Milan chief, now current Juve boss, Massimiliano Allegri countered with a midfield diamond featuring Brazilian playmaker Hernanes and veteran goal-getter Claudio Marchisio.

Extremely cagey opening exchanges were livened up by winger Alessio Cerci leading a lightning-fast Milan break, and former Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra was struggling to cope with the Italian's pace. Fortunately for the Old Lady, experienced centre-back Giorgio Chiellini was often on hand to turn away Cerci's deliveries from the flanks.

ESPN contributor Mina Rzouki felt Juve's narrow shape was vulnerable to natural width:

Mina Rzouki @Minarzouki
Really not sure about Juve's choice of formation or players considering they are playing a Milan side that's good on the wings....

FourFourTwo Italian football correspondent Adam Digby was less than impressed with Juve's pedestrian play. He felt an on-loan Chelsea man's absence was having too much of a negative impact on Allegri's side:

Adam Digby @Adz77
Juventus without Cuadrado are so one-paced
Kinda staggering how much he's missed

When Juve did get on the ball, Hernanes posed a threat. The South American playmaker wasted a shooting chance in the box after fine work from fellow midfielder Paul Pogba.

At the other end, Cerci spurned the freedom of the Juventus penalty area when he made a mess of a header. His initial run into the box was terrific, and the ex-Torino star was clearly motivated by facing his former Turin enemy.

Football Italia contributor and Fiorentina fan Giancarlo Rinaldi couldn't resist a joke at Atletico Madrid loanee Cerci's expense:

Giancarlo Rinaldi @ginkers
Great defensive clearing header there from Cerci when clean through on goal

An injury to Evra forced the introduction of Alex Sandro, but Milan couldn't profit from the reshuffle.

Juve almost received some good fortune off a Hernanes shot that took a deflection, but Milan's teenage stopper showed off his impressive reflexes.

Digby summed up the static first-half fare well:

Adam Digby @Adz77
HT 0-0. Complete #JuveMilan analysis: Ugh.

Needing to shake things up, Allegri made a change to both personnel and tactics, according to Football Italia Twitter:

footballitalia @footballitalia
Hernanes hauled off, Bonucci on and #Juventus go 3-5-2.

Juve needed greater width and supply from the flanks. Towering centre-forward Mario Mandzukic, a true menace in the air, had become an increasingly isolated figure during the latter stages of the first half.

Controversy surrounded the restart when M'Baye Niang headed across for Bacca and substitute Leonardo Bonucci hauled the striker down in the box. Instead of giving a penalty, the referee decided Niang had committed a foul when jumping for his initial header.

But Milan still threatened after the break. Slovakian midfielder Juraj Kucka glanced a close-range header wide. He should have scored and would soon be made to rue the miss.

Juve's passing had improved with Bonucci on the pitch. His classy distribution from the back was encouraging more forward runs from midfield.

Juventus made their greater width count when Pogba released Sandro on the left wing. The wing-back's cross was controlled superbly by Dybala on his chest. The Argentinian forward then smashed home a volley on the turn to open the scoring.

BT Sport Football on Twitter provided a highlight of the fine goal:

BT Sport Football ✔ @btsportfootball
"Oh what a finish! Beautiful finish!" @PauDybala_JR gives @juventusfc the lead against @acmilan in fine style.

Pogba grew in confidence after his contribution in the build-up. A clever, scooped pass nearly released Mandzukic, but the target man's touch let him down.

Still, his partnership with Sandro was causing the visitors a host of problems. Digby was suitably impressed:

Adam Digby @Adz77
Patrice Evra is a boss but Alex Sandro & Paul Pogba is a ridiculously good combination on the left

Kucka lifted a half-volley over for the Rossoneri after more good work from Cerci. Surprisingly, Kucka was soon sacrificed for striker Luiz Adriano.

But his introduction didn't help, even though Cerci forced Gianluigi Buffon, marking the 20th anniversary of his Serie A debut, into a great stop late on in stoppage time.

Post-Match Reaction

Despite his goal, Dybala insisted there's more to come from him, per Football Italia:

footballitalia @footballitalia
Paulo Dybala won it for #Juventus against #ACMilan . "I know I can do much more”

The ex-Palermo star certainly has the quality to become a consistent match-winner. Adding more goals in big games like this one is the next step for the 22-year-old.

For now though, Dybala will have to be content with helping his club earn a piece of history in this rivalry, according to OptaPaolo:

OptaPaolo ✔ @OptaPaolo
6 - Juventus have won their last 6 Serie A games against AC Milan – an all-time record in the history of this fixture. Overtaking.

Meanwhile, Milan continue to flounder. There are a lot of new faces in the side but no coherence on the pitch. In particular, the Rossoneri lack a cutting edge up front, despite the investment in Bacca.

As for Juve, Allegri's team is still a shadow of the one that made last season's UEFA Champions League final. Pogba is a gem, but like Milan, there's little quality along the forward line.

Paulo Dybala won the game for Juventus against Milan, but insists “I know that I can do much more.”

The Argentine netted a splendid strike on the half-volley, allowing Juve to leapfrog the Rossoneri in the Serie A standings.

“It was a victory of the team today and we just did what the Coach asked us to,” he told Mediaset Premium.

“Leaving the field to a standing ovation from the fans was an unforgettable moment.

“I am happy with what I’m doing and there is always going to be competition for places, but everyone is helping me to settle in.

“I know that I can do much more.”

Juventus

1 G. Buffon - Well protected by the men in front of him, hardly having much of a save to make until late on.

26 S. Lichtsteiner - Got forward a couple of times but was often let down by his final ball. Kept Niang on the periphery.

15 A. Barzagli - Followed Chiellini's lead and it made for a simple night for him. Blocked every route through on goal and was a wall in defence.

3 G. Chiellini - Calm and composed, never putting a foot wrong at the back. Great leadership as per usual.

33 P. Evra - Defensively sound, though an injury forced him off inside of 30 minutes.

27 S. Sturaro - Didn't offer a whole lot of creativity, but his work rate was rivaled by none.

8 C. Marchisio - Kept Juventus ticking in possession. The clear engine of the team and was a force in midfield. There is little question that he had the better of the matchup with Montolivo.

10 P. Pogba - Anonymous for the majority of the first half but sprung to life in the second. A 35-yard shot forced Donnarumma into a good save. His clever ball over the top started the buildup to the game's only goal.

11 Hernanes - Involved in a lot of Juventus' play but wasted some good positions before being replaced at the interval.

17 M. Mandžukić - Unselfish as he moved around well in attack to open up space for others, but saw little of the ball himself.

21 Paulo Dybala - The most dangerous attacking player for either side, but struggled to work many clear openings. Finally afforded a chance off the cross from Sandro and made no mistake.

Substitutes

12 Alex Sandro
- Superb after replacing Evra, covering every blade of grass down the left flank. Produced the ball in for Dybala to slot home the winner.

9 Álvaro Morata - Good hold up play over the final 10 minutes after replacing Dybala.

Milan

99 G. Donnarumma - Showed great poise in goal, making some important saves, though he could do little to deny Dybala from close range.

20 I. Abate - Got stuck in against Pogba and often came out ahead. Made just one mistake and it allowed Sandro in behind which led directly to the game's only goal.

33 Alex - Lacked the pace to keep up with Dybala which haunted him at times, but was otherwise sound at the back.

13 A. Romagnoli - Did a wonderful job at negating the threat of Mandzukic, while his physical nature helped keep Juventus out.

31 L. Antonelli - Never appeared troubled in defence, but needed to offer more support for Niang on the overlap.

27 J. Kucka - Very lively in midfield, a rare bright spot for the visitors in that third of the pitch.

18 R. Montolivo - Shockingly quiet, offering no inventiveness in midfield and had little success up against Montolivo. Unable to pull the strings to any effect.

28 G. Bonaventura - Struggled to assert his influence on proceedings, often finding himself frustrated in possession. Creativity was in short supply.

11 A. Cerci - Showed flashes of his skill and seemed the most likely to create for the visitors, though was largely kept on the fringes.

70 C. Bacca - Barely had a kick of the ball in the first half and didn't fare much better in the second as he was relegated to chasing balls over the top.

19 M. Niang - Had a bit of a thankless task in attack, with service lacking, but was always full of running. Did well to drop deeper to get in possession.

Substitutes

9 Luiz Adriano
- On for the final 15 minutes and appeared full of energy, but didn't receive the required service.

5 Positives

1. Paulo Dybala – Another game, another goal. Dogged determination throughout, great delivery on the set-pieces, relentless running and brilliantly taken goal.

2. Claudio Marchisio – Completed 90% of his passes and kept the team moving forward. Tackled, harried, passed and bossed the midfield. A silent hero

3. Allegri subs in Sandro… – It might have been related to Evra being injured but it seemed like a tactical choice ….and it paid off. Sandro’s mix of pace and strength, combined with his tendancy to fire crosses in whenever he can, certainly made the difference.

4. 3 Points – It may have been a so-so game but three points are all that matter today. A solid if not spectacular performance and a result to build on considering we just won two league games in a row for the first time this season.

5. Leapfrogging Milan – Juve are up to 6th, overtaking Milan and just 6 points away from the top of the table. There’s hope yet.

Allegri: 'Juve not great, but solid'

Max Allegri admits Juventus “did not have a good performance, but we were solid” to beat Milan 1-0.

“It was a very complicated match because Milan defended well and caused us problems. At the same time, we should’ve moved the ball better between the lines and it was not a good performance, but a solid one,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium and Sky Sport Italia.

“The important thing was to win and go ahead of Milan in the Serie A table. Hopefully we’ll get a good result on Wednesday against Manchester City too.

“We allowed nothing except for that Alessio Cerci shot in stoppages. We’ve got to improve in terms of decision-making and not rushing the final ball.

“At least we are finding some consistency in results and that is important. It’s our second clean sheet at home after Atalanta. It might not have been a good game, but it was important to be solid.

“Unfortunately I had to make two substitutions through injury, as Patrice Evra and Hernanes needed to come off. The intention was to play with a trequartista, though Hernanes got a little bottle-necked in the middle.

“Claudio Marchisio is getting back to the player we all knew. Stefano Sturaro and Mario Mandzukic did well. Paul Pogba did very well and helped set up the goal, but after that was playing to the crowd a bit too much.”

Paulo Dybala got the decisive goal, so has Allegri finally realised the Argentine is ready to carry the attack?

“I was always convinced of his quality, but it’s normal he needed time to settle. Dybala is growing, he has important abilities and did very well between the lines. He works hard too and in time he’ll become a great support striker. He’s changing physically too and you can see the difference in his legs.”

Mihajlovic: 'Milan too tentative'

Sinisa Mihajlovic feels Milan are too tentative and afraid to take risks going forward after a 1-0 defeat to Juventus.

Paulo Dybala scored the decisive goal, but Gigi Buffon only made one genuine save at the 93rd minute on Alessio Cerci.

“During the game, above all the first half, we made too many mistakes in our passing and then we got the counter-attacks wrong too.

“We fielded the most attacking line-up we could. Paradoxically, we did well defensively and should’ve done more going forward,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“We must try to keep working, aware there are difficulties and there’s a large margin for improvement. It’s always difficult against Juventus in Turin, we lost, but will prepare for the next match.”

M’Baye Niang impressed in the trident attack with his build-up place.

“He did well defensively, but is a striker and must therefore also do more in attack. It was only his second game in four or five months, so his fitness levels still need to improve and that’ll bring more sharpness too.

“I ask my wide men to sacrifice themselves for the team, so they need to be fully fit and sharp, that way they can be more effective in front of goal.”

Milan’s unbeaten run came to an end after five rounds, but there were distinct steps backward in their 0-0 draw with Atalanta and 1-0 defeat here.

“We have players good at taking men on, but we need more courage to push into the box. It can go wrong, but you have to try, whereas we tend to get into those situations and then pass it backwards. We should take opponents on.

“It is our duty to free these attacking wide men so they can take on individual defenders one-on-one, making the most of their characteristics.”

Juventus 1-0 AC Milan:
Player Ratings

Nov 21, 2015

Juventus beat AC Milan 1-0 at the Juventus Stadium on Saturday night, a result which sees them move above Milan in the Serie A table.

The first-half was rather tight as both teams cancelled each other out, and the half ended 0-0. The second-half was similar however the Bianconeri were able to up the tempo and eventually found the winner through Paulo Dybala in the 65th minute.

Juventus

Gianluigi Buffon -7- Solid - Buffon as always was a commanding figure in goal and despite not having that much work to do he did pull off one vital save in stoppage time to deny Alessio Cerci.

Stephan Lichtsteiner -6.5- Energetic - The Swiss wing-back was as hyper as usual, however, often his end product lacked quality. He dealt comfortably with M’baye Niang’s pace and trickery throughout the match.

Andrea Barzagli -6- Lacking - The former Wolfsburg player had a bit of an off day to day, his positioning was sometimes quite erratic, however, saying that he was forceful in the air and rugged in the tackle.

Giorgio Chiellini -7- Tough - Chiellini put in a good shift against the Rossoneri. Though Carlos Bacca did look fatigued, the Italian dealt with the Colombian easily and was rarely troubled.

Patrice Evra -6- Average - Hard to really assess the Frenchman as he came off injured in the first-half but whilst he was on the pitch he was unremarkable.

Stefano Sturaro -6.5- Fighter - Sturaro may be somewhat limited technically when compared to his midfield partners, but he certainly makes up for it in his work-rate.

Claudio Marchisio -7.5- Composed - Dictated the tempo of the game superbly and at times made it look effortless. Didn’t really create to much but he really is crucial to this Juventus team.

Paul Pogba -6.5- Standard - Not Pogba’s best day but not his worst, he looked slightly jaded and possibly mentally fatigued after the events over the international break.

Hernanes -4- Woeful - The Brazilian looks somewhat out of his depth in Turin. Often caught on the ball and very slow on his feet, he failed to find the space to weave the magic he can sometimes weave.

Mario Mandzukic -5- Poor - Held up the ball well but he really has no partnership with Paulo Dybala, the two just don’t click and when the Croatian misses chance after chance, you really wonder why Allegri persists.

Paulo Dybala -8- Jewel - Though he was quiet in the first-half the Argentinian came alive in the second, and scored a brilliant volley to give the Bianconeri all three points.

Substitutes:

Alex Sandro (29 mins) 6.5- Speedy
- Always keen to get forward, the Brazilian was okay, but like Lichtsteiner lacked end product.

Leonardo Bonucci (46mins) 7- Rugged - Bonucci came on at half-time and apart from one slip of concentration which almost led to a Milan penalty he was very solid and looked comfortable.

Alvaro Morata -N/A- Was on for just 10 minutes.

AC Milan

Gianluigi Donnarumma -7- Excellent - Unlucky to be on the back of a defeat as the youngster was actually very good and if it was wasn’t for Dybala’s stunning goal he could have kept a clean-sheet.

Ignazio Abate -5.5- Dire - Eager to get forward, but Abate was not great defensively and could have done more to stop the creation of the opening goal from Dybala.

Alex -6.5- Experienced - The veteran Brazilian showed his experience today as he marshalled what was for the most part a pretty solid back-line. Furthermore, he also dealt with Mandzukic’s aerial threat.

Alessio Romagnoli -6- Competent - Not as good as his partner but still the Italian was decent throughout. The former Roma man was strong in the challenge during the match and was rarely beaten one on one.

Luca Antonelli -6.5- Satisfactory - Unlike Abate, Antonelli was more comfortable in defence and was not really troubled by Lichtsteiner. He was helped by the fact Milan sat so deep.

Juraj Kucka -7- Powerful - The tall midfielder was an imposing presence on the pitch and his late runs into the box were often very hard to track for the Juventus defence.

Riccardo Montolivo -6.5- Languid - Like Marchisio, Montolivo did an excellent job of distributing the ball when Milan regained possession and often found his wingers Niang and Cerci.

Giacomo Bonaventura -7- Elusive - The Italian continued his good form with another impressive midfield display as Milan’s chief creator. Not helped by Bacca being tired, he was always eager to create an opening

Alessio Cerci -6.5- Decent - Not his best day but a solid performance from Cerci who caused some problems for the Bianconeri defence and almost scored in stoppage time.

Carlos Bacca -5- Lacklustre - Clearly tired from the international break the former Sevilla man did not look his usual self and failed to impact the game.

M’baye Niang -5.5- Hardworking - The Frenchman lacked quality going forward as none of his tricks came off but he did work hard to help Antonelli with Lichtsteiner’s runs.

Substitutes

Luiz Adriano -4- Bad
- Couldn’t get into the game when he came on as he continued his disappointing form.

Keisuke Honda -N/A- On for just six minutes.

Paulo Dybala strikes as Juventus beat
AC Milan to continue climbing table

Juventus continued to climb the Serie A table as they beat AC Milan 1-0 to register three consecutive Serie A wins for the first time this season.

Paulo Dybala scored the only goal of the game in Turin after 65 minutes when Paul Pogba 's lofted pass was collected by the overlapping Alex Sandro on the left and the Brazilian's cross was chested down by Dybala before he smashed home past Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Milan were stale in attack but Gianluigi Buffon had to be alert in stoppage time to make his first save of game as he parried Alessio Cerci's low shot.

The result means defending champions Juventus leapfrog Milan, moving a point above the Rossoneri to sit six points below the top three.

Milan, who arrived in Turin on a five-game unbeaten run, have now lost six consecutive Serie A games to the Bianconeri.

In Saturday's early match, Mattia Destro came back to haunt his old club as his late penalty denied title-chasing AS Roma the chance to go top, with Bologna salvaging a 2-2 draw at the Stadio Dall'Ara.

Adam Masina put the hosts ahead before second-half penalties from Bosnian duo Miralem Pjanic and on-loan forward Edin Dzeko looked to have sealed all three points for Roma.

But Destro, who left the capital club in the summer, secured a point for Bologna with a penalty three minutes from time to lift the Rossoblu up to 15th in Serie A as Roma went second.
