Sensi: ‘Juve a dream’

http://www.football-italia.net/81060/sensi-%E2%80%98juve-dream%E2%80%99?

Mar 10, 2016

Stefano Sensi says ‘Juventus would be a dream’ and admits Sassuolo’s ‘synergy with Juve was an extra motive’ for his move.

The Neroverdi completed the signing of the 20-year-old midfielder in January before sending him back on loan to Serie B side Cesena until the end of the season.

“Juve-Sassuolo isn’t my derby, but I’ll follow the match with more attention than usual,” he said to Tuttosport.

“I chose Sassuolo because it’s a professional and organised club. The synergy with Juve was an extra motive that strengthened my idea.

“Mancini? I know that he came to watch me at a match, but I didn’t speak to him face to face.

“I have the fortune of being able to isolate myself thanks to Cesena. Now Serie A and Sassuolo call me and next year they will ask me about Juventus.

“Comparisons to Pirlo and Verratti? That makes me proud, but they are two champions. I give my best performances as a playmaker. I study Pirlo, Verratti and Xavi, who was always my idol.

“I’ve always had a soft spot for Barcelona, but Juve by now are at the same level as the Catalans.

“A future Juve midfield of Sensi-Pogba-Mandragora? It’d be a dream. I would like to arrive in time to play with Dybala and Pogba.

“Meeting Bologna’s Diawara again in Turin? We are close friends, we’ve had some laughs together. I advised him to stay in Italy, he reminds me of Yaya Toure.”

Allegri: ‘Not thinking about Bayern’

http://www.football-italia.net/81063/allegri-%E2%80%98not-thinking-about-bayern%E2%80%99?

Mar 10, 2016

Massimiliano Allegri insists Juventus ‘aren’t thinking about Bayern’ and has ‘no response’ to Arrigo Sacchi.

The Bianconeri have their Champions League last 16 second leg in Bavaria on Wednesday, but must first face Sassuolo tomorrow evening in Serie A.

Allegri also responded to comments by Arrigo Sacchi yesterday that Juve are ‘limited’ and ‘what counts is the Champions League’, comparing their success to that of Rosenborg in Norway.

“We’re not thinking about Bayern. Tomorrow we’ve got an important game that we need to win,” Allegri said at today’s pre-match Press conference.

“Sassuolo are in and around the European positions and have beaten some big teams. It will be a tough game.

“Chiellini won’t make it back in time for tomorrow. For Bayern? Perhaps.

“What’s changed since Sansone’s goal in this season’s first meeting with Sassuolo? The league table.

“Chiellini and Caceres are the only injured players at the moment. Everyone else is available.

“Our aim is to win a fifth consecutive Scudetto. It would be an extraordinary achievement.

“Wednesday’s game mustn’t be an obsession. For us it must remain an achievable dream.

“The Champions League depends a lot on the draw. The important thing was to get through, now we’re in the Coppa Italia final.

“For now we can’t do more than that, I’d be happy to go all the way and win two trophies.

“The next 10 days will be crucial for us, especially as far as the Scudetto is concerned. Playing Sassuolo and Torino will be an important part of the title race.

“Pogba has come on a great deal and put in some important displays. If he keeps it simple he’s unplayable.

“He still must learn a lot but he’s a 23-year-old. He should become a top-level European midfielder.

“Sacchi’s comments? Football is debatable. He’s a football guru, I have no response. Like I’ve said before, I respect everyone’s ideas but I have nothing to say.

“All I can do is offer my compliments to Rosenborg because they are a team that has won many titles and so I think that their history should be respected as well.”

Juventus V Sassuolo – Preview: Rampant
Bianconeri Look For Neroverdi Revenge

http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2016/03/juventus-v-sassuolo-preview-rampant-bianconeri-look-for-neroverdi-revenge/?

Mar 10, 2016

Juventus host Sassuolo on Friday evening looking to exert some pressure on Napoli ahead of the weekend’s fixtures. With the game being brought forward because of the Bianconeri’s Champions League commitments, it offers them a chance to lay out their stall before any of their rivals are in action.

The Bianconeri’s poor start to the season has been washed away under the relentless weight of victories, and though their winning run was recently broken at 15, the unbeaten record has extended to 18.

It was the Neroverdi, indeed, who were the last team to defeat Massimiliano Allegri’s side in Serie A with Nicola Sansone’s strike clinching their only victory to date against the Turin side.

While not on the same streak as their hosts Sassuolo will enter the game on a positive run of their own, being unbeaten in five games and having won their last three.

This will be just the sixth meeting of the two, with Juventus having won three of the previous meetings, including both those at the Juventus Stadium. The Neroverde have yet to register an away goal against Juventus. Should they fail to do so before the 68th minute of Friday’s match Gianluigi Buffon will set a club record for unbeaten minutes in goal, passing the current mark of 903 held by Dino Zoff.

The all-time Serie A record is 936 minutes, meaning that if he keeps a 17th clean sheet of the season he will be just three shy of Sebastiano Rossi’s record going into next weekend’s Derby della Mole.

The defence in front of Buffon will be without Giorgio Chiellini, who is set to miss another week, with the Andrea Barzagli set to continue his run in central defence. Former Neroverde striker Simone Zaza will likely be on the bench against his former club.

Eusebio Di Francesco will have some reshuffling to do, with Gregoire Defrel set to miss out through suspension and Diego Falcinelli due to deputise. He will also likely be unable to call upon Karim Laribi, Simone Missiroli and Paolo Cannavaro through injury.

Juventus v Sassuolo: Preview

http://www.espnfc.co.uk/italian-serie-a/match/431986/juventus-sassuolo/preview

Mar 10, 2016

Massimiliano Allegri has urged his Juventus players to focus on the here and now as they prepare to run a gauntlet of three decisive matches.

The reigning Serie A champions must first bid to protect and extend their lead by beating Sassuolo at Juventus Stadium on Friday night, and then follows a daunting Champions League trip to Munich.

Juve, who reached the Berlin final last year, have every chance of progressing to the quarter-finals after holding Bayern to a 2-2 draw in Turin last month.

The small matter of a city derby with Torino looms large at the end of a difficult 10-day period and Allegri knows it will not be easy to reach April unscathed.

``The next 10 days are key for us,'' he told juventus.com ``The matches against Sassuolo and Torino are going to be very important in terms of our title hopes.

``We face a (Sassuolo) side that are playing very well and are just below the Europa League places in the table. They've beaten all the big teams this season so it'll be a tough test for us.

``We can't be obsessed about Bayern. I've said that before and I'll say it again now.

``For us the Champions League should be an achievable dream and we will focus on it starting from Saturday morning.

``Our objective is to win our fifth Scudetto in a row - that would be extraordinary.

``The only way we're going to do it is by taking one step at a time, without allowing ourselves to be distracted by other people's opinions.

``The league is a sprint right now. After tomorrow there'll be nine matches left so we're into the descent but the descent can be more dangerous than the ascent.

``We need to be extra alert, because you can slip up on the descent.''

Friday's match also offers Gianluigi Buffon the opportunity to make history. The veteran goalkeeper has not conceded a league goal in 836 minutes and can surpass Dino Zoff's record of 903 with another shut-out against the Neroverde. Sebastian Rossi holds the all-time record with 929 minutes.

Seventh-placed Sassuolo go into the game on the back of an impressive home win over AC Milan and boss Eusebio Di Francesco is determined to see Buffon's unbeaten stand brought to an end.

``We'll try to put on a great show tomorrow,'' he said. ``It would be really satisfying to get a result against the league's form team, who have such a strong winning mentality.

``I want my boys to approach the match with the desire to hurt a team who have not conceded a goal for a very long time.''

JUVENTUS VS SASSUOLO MATCH PREVIEW

http://www.juvefc.com/juventus-vs-sassuolo-match-preview-and-scouting/?

Mar 10, 2016

juventus.pngJuventus

The Atalanta game was decent, good enough to edge a struggling opponent, but Juventus will have to up their game in the next month to maintain the three-point lead over Napoli and maybe eliminate Bayern Munich, starting from this Friday against Sassuolo.

It looks like Massimiliano Allegri will once again keep Daniele Rugani on the bench and opt for a four-man defence, with Giorgio Chiellini still sidelined with a sore calf. The presence of the veteran centre-back at the Allianz Arena clash is not certain. Martin Caceres is the only other sure absentee.

Considering that the poor form of Roberto Pereyra makes it harder to pull off an effective 4-3-1-2, the possibilities are endless from the tactical standpoint. The most likely option as of today is 4-4-2 with Juan Cuadrado on the right and Paul Pogba unusually on the left wing, a role he has occupied from time to time this season when the Colombian winger was on the field.

All the midfielders are available: Stefano Sturaro missed the last game with a stubbed toe but he is ready to go. This could lead to a night off for some of the starters and the number one candidate is Sami Khedira, who will be needed at peak condition on Tuesday.

Kwadwo Asamoah would be a logical fit on the left, with Paul Pogba slotted in the middle. Mario Lemina comes off the back of a good performance, topped by a splendid solo goal that will make the management seriously consider retaining him, if only for the potential he showed in an injury-ridden season. Sturaro is the safest and surest alternative. It would not be shocking to see Claudio Marchisio or Pogba benched too, but seeing how mightily a back-up laden XI struggled against Inter, the coach will be wary.

Patrice Evra is set to rest, with Alex Sandro taking his spot on the left flank. It is possible that one between Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala will be spared. Alvaro Morata would turn the formation into a 4-3-3 that would be more natural than this 4-4-2, but it looks like Simone Zaza is above him in the pecking order right now.

Gianluigi Buffon has not conceded a goal in 836 minutes: the third longest streak in Serie A history. To reach and overtake Sebastiano Rossi, who set the record in 1993-1994 with 929 minutes, he needs to keep a clean sheet against Sassuolo and for few minutes in the Derby della Mole (stoppage time is not included so every game counts for 90 minutes). It would be a remarkable achievement and a deserved one for a legendary goalkeeper, the best in history in my opinion.

Sassuolo are in good form, but the most dangerous threats come from within. Juventus saw their 15-game winning streak snap against Bologna before the first leg against Bayern Munich, in a game where they were not very focused. The risk of being distracted by the upcoming big match is very real and would be costly as Napoli are still very close and have four easy games in a row. Juventus lost its last game in Serie A against Sassuolo, then put together the ongoing undefeated streak.

Probable lineup 4-4-2

Buffon; Lichsteiner, Barzagli, Bonucci, Sandro; Cuadrado, Khedira, Marchisio, Pogba; Mandzukic, Dybala.

Injuries:

Chiellini (calf), Caceres (Achilles).

Suspensions:

None.

sass.jpg  Sassuolo

Sassuolo slumped in January and February but got back on track and won three games in a row against Empoli, Lazio and Milan. the Neroverdi seem to have a knack for beating the top teams and some of their players, notably Nicola Sansone and Domenico Berardi too, have built their reputation on scoring in big games.

Juventus will catch a break as they will most likely be without three of their best players. Gregoire Defrel is suspended: the former Cesena striker took his time to adapt to his new position, as he playing wide last year, but finally came on in the last month and has started to combine very well with the offensive wingers. After scoring only twice in the first 21 games, he scored four goals in the last four games he started.

Diego Falcinelli or Marcello Trotta will start: they are two up-and-coming pure centre-forwards and certainly bring something different to the table. Without Defrel, they lose in agility and quickness, but they gain in ability in the air and presence in the box. It will be interesting to see if next season, with Berardi definitely leaving to join Juventus or another top club, whether they will look to add another right winger or just move Defrel there, in his natural position.

Paolo Cannavaro and Simone Missiroli both left the last game early with apparent hamstring injuries and Eusebio Di Francesco announced they will miss the game and they are both huge losses. Cannavaro is not that good anymore and is mistake prone, but his replacement, Luca Antei, has barely played in the last three years.

Simone Missiroli adds a ton of creativity in their midfield. Eusebio Di Francesco compared him to Paul Pogba: they are clearly different players, but in terms of importance for their respective teams, it’ss not a far-fetched comparison. Their other offensive-minded box-to-box midfielder Kevin Laribi is sidelined with an injury too. So they will have a midfield with a lot of muscle and not much phosphorus on Friday night, likely composed by Alfred Duncan, Francesco Magnanelli and Davide Biondini or Lorenzo Pellegrini.

There is not much buzz about Sassuolo this year as people always like to talk about the new shiny toys, like Empoli and Bologna for instance, but the Neroverdi have been playing with the prettiest style in Italy for three years now. Differently from their past two seasons, they have been extremely successful too, got off to a strong start and now they are up there, ready to establish themselves as one of the top eight clubs in Italy, also considering their financial stability.

Despite some key absentees, we can still expect them to try to control the ball and the ground and counterattack quickly when given the opportunity. Sime Vrsaljko, despite having a down year overall, is the fullback who has made the most crosses this season and their right flank is definitely their strongest threat. In the last few games, they have scored twice off corner kick schemes, so it will be imperative to pay attention to those situations.

UPDATE: Domenico Berardi has been battling the flu this week: he has been called up but he did not make the trip with the rest of the team on Thursday. If he feels better, he can join the team on Friday. His presence from the start his doubtful, Matteo Politano would replace him.

Probable lineup 4-3-3

Consigli; Vrsaljko, Antei, Acerbi, Peluso; Biondini, Magnanelli, Duncan; Berardi, Falcinelli, Sansone.

Injuries:

Missiroli (hamstring), Cannavaro (hamstring), Laribi (knee).

Suspensions:

Defrel.

Sassuolo star Domenico Berardi is in doubt to face Juventus tomorrow after coming down with flu.

Berardi is by far their most important player and Juve have an option to buy him next season.

According to Sky Sport Italia, he is in the squad, but has not made the journey to Turin with the rest of the team.

He is suffering from flu symptoms and will aim to recover at home overnight before seeing his condition tomorrow morning.

It’s an extra problem for the Neroverdi, as striker Gregoire Defrel is suspended with Paolo Cannavaro, Simone Missiroli and Karim Laribi injured.

Juventus - Sassuolo MATCH PREVIEW

http://www.football-italia.net/SerieA/match/preview/70108

Mar 10, 2016

Juventus are out to preserve their lead at the top of Serie A when they host Sassuolo, but the visitors will aim to take advantage of any distractions.

The Italian champions have been in indomitable form domestically and lead Napoli by three points, having only once failed to find the back of the net in their last 18 games. Their abilities to keep their Scudetto rivals at arms’ length will be put through a serious test, however, as they prepare for Friday’s match keeping one eye on their Champions League Last 16 clash with Bayern Munich the following week, with the score finely poised at 2-2.

Despite the likelihood of rotation, the revitalised Bianconeri have discovered a new sense of self-belief and are chasing a new League record of 10 consecutive clean sheets in a row. Revenge will be on the minds of Massimiliano Allegri’s men as they set out to avenge the defeat to Sassuolo in October – their final loss before they embarked on their incredible run of 18 unbeaten games.

The Neroverdi will be no pushovers, however. Three consecutive wins have lifted Eusebio Di Francesco’s outfit up to seventh and with serious ambitions of a place in Europe next term. The side will be looking to maintain their momentum against Juve after earning their first victory in six attempts over the leaders in 2015’s 1-0 reverse win, and the Turin giants must be sure to remain fully focused ahead of a potential banana skin.

Keep an eye on: Paulo Dybala (Juventus) – The Bianconeri’s top scorer and latest talisman will have to be at his best in front of goal if he is to lift his side to victory in what is set to be a tricky tie, in the process cementing his importance to his club’s cause at a crucial juncture of the season.

Form guide: Juventus (W W D W W) Sassuolo (W W W D D)

Last season: Juventus 1-0 Sassuolo

Stat fact:
Juventus have proceeded to win 20 of the 21 games in which they got on the scoresheet first this season.

Juventus (probable)

Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Bonucci, Barzagli, Evra; Cuadrado, Khedira, Marchisio, Pogba; Dybala, Mandzukic

Suspended: None

Sassuolo (probable)

Consigli; Vrsaljko, Antei, Acerbi, Peluso; Biondini, Magnanelli, Duncan; Berardi, Falcinelli, Sansone

Suspended: Defrel

Di Francesco: Sassuolo Will Try To Beat Juventus

http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2016/03/di-francesco-sassuolo-will-try-to-beat-juventus/?

Mar 10, 2016

Sassuolo coach Eusebio Di Francesco has asked his players to give their all against Juventus and has said that the Neroverdi will play to win the match.

Di Francesco’s side have enjoyed a magnificent season so far and currently sit seventh in the table. Furthermore, Sassuolo have set a precedent of performing well against top sides, having already beaten the likes of AC Milan and Inter this season.

“Beating Juventus would bring a lot of satisfaction to us.” said Di Francesco at his pre-match press conference. “But we know the Bianconeri are a strong team, the best in the league and they have a winning mentality.

“But I want my players to play as well as they can and try to attack Juventus. We know we have to play this game with humility, to beat teams like Juventus you need to run more.

“Determination isn’t enough sometimes, we need to leave everything on the pitch. I play to win. We won’t sit back we will attack Juventus and try to create chances. ”

Di Francesco was also asked whether he is surprised at how well Juventus have recovered since their early season wobble and whether The Old Lady might be distracted by their upcoming Champions League tie against Bayern Munich.

“I’m not surprised by their recovery, I always thought they were favourites for the Scudetto. I don’t think they’ll be distracted, Juventus look to win every game they can. ”

Juventus' winning ways in Serie A
should be celebrated, not scorned

http://www.espnfc.co.uk/club/juventus/111/blog/post/2826478/juventus-winning-ways-in-serie-a-should-be-celebrated

Mar 10, 2016

For Juventus, nothing is quite as important as domestic success. While the likes of Milan and Real Madrid chase European glory, Juventus with their Italian team and Italian Management enjoy success in the Italian league. While they may compete in Europe, they have been known to choke at the final hurdle. In fact, the Turin giants have lost the Champions League final a record six times.

To some like Arrigo Sacchi, that very fact makes them equal to the likes of Norway's Rosenborg. "They'll say 'In Italy we keep winning' and I'll say Rosenborg always win the league title in Norway, but what counts is the Champions League, and Juve struggle in Europe," noted the former legendary coach of Milan.

Juventus have indeed struggled. They had the opportunity to lift the European trophy on eight different occasions yet only managed to win the competition twice -- far fewer than his beloved Rossoneri, seven-time winners of the continent's biggest prize.

However, can we really adjudge Juventus to be a team that's no better than Rosenborg, teams that are to be described by Sacchi as having "limited verbiage". One would argue that particular description is perfect for his Azzurri side in 1994, a team that barely excited and found its way to the final largely thanks to the brilliance of one particular man, Roberto Baggio. A final in which they...choked. How would he describe that particular Italian national team?

Perhaps what Sacchi intended to say is for Juventus to be really recognised as a genuine force in football, they ought to do more in Europe. Most would agree with that argument as the Old Lady dominated football in the mid-1990's yet failed to make the most of her many opportunities. This very fact is reflected in her finances as the club's commercial revenue still pales in comparison to the likes of Silvio Berlusconi's Milan, whose brand is still strong and appeals to the masses despite the many failures they have endured in recent years.

By contrast Juventus have won so much more, at least on a domestic level, yet their brand is not as strong, their support not as far reaching. However, this has started to change. For Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri to take his band of unlikely heroes to the final of the Champions League last season, defeating the likes of Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund on the way, was nothing short of excellent.

Pitted against mighty Barcelona with a front line that cost more than Juventus' entire starting XI, there was a moment in the final at 1-1 when many thought the Bianconeri were going to do it, that they were going to win the Treble. Sadly they succumbed to a side who not only boast the finest of players, but a mentality that ought to be emulated at all times.

Limited verbiage -- Sacchi's main gripe with Juventus. "At Milan we had three: to win, to convince, to entertain. Juve have one: to win," noted Sacchi. Indeed they do, a fact they are immensely proud of. "Winning is not important, it is the only thing that counts," is not only Juventus legend Giampiero Boniperti's most famous quote, but a saying that is etched into the inside collar of every Juventus jersey. No one remembers the beautiful, we only remember the winners.

While success is all that counts, to say that Juventus have not entertained or convinced is slightly harsh and entirely subjective. Unlike his Milan, Allegri's side does not boast the greatest of players but a wonderfully balanced unit that sacrifice for one another. They are not partaking in a European tournament filled with team on equal terms but competing against giants with bigger revenues and much bigger stars, yet Juventus played and Juventus won so many challenges.

It won't be easy to forget how well the Bianconeri dominated Dortmund in the Westfalenstadion, how they punished Real Madrid's weaknesses and how they attacked Barcelona with the brilliance of Alvaro Morata and the defensive strength of their disciplined back line.

Collapsing in Serie A earlier this season, Juventus still made easy work out of their Champions League contest against Manchester City -- a team with a huge brand and perhaps better players, while it would be rude not to praise a Juve side that came back and displayed their pride to equalise against Bayern Munich -- the mighty Bavarian side coached by the best in the world, Pep Guardiola. It is of course a matter of opinion if you found all that to be entertaining or even convincing.

There is some truth to what Sacchi says. However, what he fails to acknowledge is the difficulty in being a consistent winner, one that understands exactly how to resurrect its reputation and winning mentality after suffering great humiliations such as Calciopoli. As a club Juventus not only ensure success on the pitch but in management too, managing their finances perfectly and restoring hope to the Italian game. There will always be sides that might thrill for a few seasons, but few can continue to be a giant others fear decade upon decade.

For the sake of Juve goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and the many critics who continue to criticise Juventus, a win against Sassuolo on Friday night is absolutely vital. A well organised squad that defeated the Bianconeri in the reverse fixture, a clean sheet would help Buffon set a new record, while the confidence boost the team would get from succeeding where others have failed will put them in good stead for their Champions League tie against Bayern next week.

Zoff: ‘Juventus will win Scudetto’

http://www.football-italia.net/81128/zoff-%E2%80%98juventus-will-win-scudetto%E2%80%99?

Mar 11, 2016

Juventus legend Dino Zoff predicts they’ll win the Scudetto, and hails Gianluigi Buffon.

The Bianconeri are three points clear at the top of Serie A, and can put pressure on second-placed Napoli with a win over Sassuolo tonight.

“Juventus will win a fifth-consecutive Scudetto,” Zoff predicted in an interview with Calciomercato.

“They’ll write themselves into the history books, no-one has done that since 1935 [inter won five between 2006 and and 2010, but the 05-06 title was awarded after the Calciopoli scandal].

“Arrigo Sacchi’s comments? Winning counts, that’s what counts. Honestly, what Sacchi says doesn’t interest me at all.”

Zoff was a legendary goalkeeper for the Old Lady, but his clean sheet record is under threat from Gigi Buffon.

“We’re talking about an extraordinary goalkeeper, Gigi deserves it. In fact, I’ll go further, he’ll beat my record and Sebastiano Rossi’s.

“This Juventus is an incredible team.”

Line-ups: Juventus-Sassuolo

http://www.football-italia.net/81138/line-ups-juventus-sassuolo?

Mar 11, 2016

Juventus go for three at the back and start Daniele Rugani as they host Sassuolo, but Domenico Berardi is ruled out.

It kicks off at the Juventus Stadium in Turin at 20.45 CET - 19.45 GMT.

The Bianconeri have to balance staying top of the Serie A table with preparing for Wednesday’s Champions League showdown with Bayern Munich.

Max Allegri has to do without the injured Giorgio Chiellini and Martin Caceres.

Stephan Lichtsteiner and Paul Pogba are rested, so Rugani gets a rare start in the three-man defence.

Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic work on their partnership up front, meaning ex-Sassuolo striker Simone Zaza is only on the bench.

Berardi isn’t even in the stadium, as the Neroverdi’s star player is suffering from flu symptoms and hasn’t recovered sufficiently.

It’s a blow for Eusebio Di Francesco, who is already missing Paolo Cannavaro, Simone Missiroli, Karim Laribi and the suspended forward Gregoire Defrel.

The 4-3-3 system remains intact, but with new entries Matteo Politano and Diego Falcinelli to support Italy international Nicola Sansone.

This represents an early taste of the Allianz Arena for Juventus, as Sansone was born in Munich and grew up in the Bayern academy.

Sassuolo were the last side to beat Juventus all the way back in October, so can they upset the Old Lady again?

Juventus

Buffon; Rugani, Bonucci, Barzagli; Cuadrado, Khedira, Marchisio, Asamoah, Alex Sandro; Dybala, Mandzukic

Sassuolo

Consigli; Vrsaljko, Acerbi, Antei, Peluso; Duncan, Magnanelli, Biondini; Politano, Falcinelli, Sansone

Sansone: 'Sassuolo attack Juve'

http://www.football-italia.net/81140/sansone-sassuolo-attack-juve?

Mar 11, 2016

Nicola Sansone warned Juventus that Sassuolo “think first and foremost about attacking.”

The sides meet in Turin this evening at 20.45 CET - 19.45 GMT.

“In every stadium we visit, we try to impose our style of football. We think first and foremost about attacking,” Sansone told Mediaset Premium.

“The defence is important too, but what really makes the difference is scoring goals.

“We have absolutely no intention of letting ourselves get pinned back.”

Bonucci: 'Sassuolo changed Juve'

http://www.football-italia.net/81141/bonucci-sassuolo-changed-juve?

Mar 11, 2016

Leonardo Bonucci said defeat to Sassuolo in October forced them to become “the real Juventus” again.

The sides meet in Turin this evening at 20.45 CET - 19.45 GMT.

“The last time we met Sassuolo it was a fundamental match, as from that moment onwards we returned to being the real Juventus,” the defender told Mediaset Premium.

"We have to thank that game and that defeat, as it allowed us to become reborn."

The Bianconeri were beaten 1-0 on October 28 and that is their last Serie A defeat, having climbed to the top of the table.

“Now there are 10 Finals ahead of us and we have the utmost respect for all our opponents, including a really impressive team like Sassuolo.”

Juventus rest Stephan Lichtsteiner, Paul Pogba and Patrice Evra for Wednesday’s Champions League trip to Bayern Munich.

“It’s going to be difficult, but we need the three points and in order to earn them we must focus only on this, nothing more,” warned Bonucci.

Marotta: 'Allegri era just begun'

http://www.football-italia.net/81142/marotta-allegri-era-just-begun?

Mar 11, 2016

Juventus director Beppe Marotta reiterated “Max Allegri’s era has only just begun and we’re happy to continue with him.”

The Bianconeri host Sassuolo in Serie A this evening, follow the action as it happens and give your views on our LIVEBLOG.

“What changed since the last time we faced Sassuolo is our self-belief. We have achieved an extraordinary run of results,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium.

Juve are unbeaten in 18 rounds, ever since that humiliating 1-0 defeat at Sassuolo’s Mapei Stadium on October 28.

“Allegri was never in danger at the start of the season. We knew there would be difficulties considering the many changes in the squad.

“He proved himself to be a winning Coach and his era at Juventus has only just begun. We are happy to continue with him.

“From here to the end of the season we just need to win. That’s true for us, but also for Napoli, Roma and Inter.”

Marotta was asked about potential contract renewals for Andrea Barzagli, Patrice Evra and Paul Pogba.

“We are concentrated on the games. Is Barzagli’s renewal close? He is a great professional, we want to continue with him, as he sets the example for younger players.”

HT 1-0: Dybala stunner
hits Sassuolo

http://www.football-italia.net/81143/ht-dybala-stunner-hits-sassuolo?

Mar 11, 2016

Paulo Dybala’s spectacular curler has given Juventus the half-time lead over Sassuolo.

The Serie A leader’s last defeat was on October 28 against Sassuolo, prompting a remarkable 18-round positive streak that took them from despair to the top of the table. The Neroverdi were coming off three straight wins, but missed Domenico Berardi, Paolo Cannavaro, Simone Missiroli, Karim Laribi and the suspended Gregoire Defrel. Juve had Giorgio Chiellini and Martin Caceres injured, resting Paul Pogba, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Patrice Evra for the Champions League with Bayern Munich.

Paulo Dybala certainly didn’t take his time, as after 30 seconds his stunning volley was fingertipped over the bar by Andrea Consigli after a smart Mario Mandzukic flick.

Sime Vrsaljko’s acrobatic interception stopped Mandzukic meeting a well-worked corner and Matteo Politano fired over from Nicola Sansone’s assist.

Consigli used his legs to deny an Alex Sandro header at the back post on Dybala’s free kick, but Alfred Duncan blasted wide when totally unmarked on a pull-back.

Sami Khedira somehow turned over from point-blank range as Dybala provided an assist from a tight angle, but Juventus did eventually break the deadlock.

Juan Cuadrado did good work to get past Francesco Acerbi and found Dybala on the edge of the box, but the Argentine’s curling left-foot finish in off the inside of the far post was Del Piero-esque. It was also his 14th goal of the season, a new personal best for La Joya.

Juventus 1-0 Sassuolo (Half-Time)

Scorers: Dybala 36 (J)

Juventus: Buffon; Rugani, Bonucci, Barzagli; Cuadrado, Khedira, Marchisio, Asamoah, Alex Sandro; Dybala, Mandzukic

Sassuolo: Consigli; Vrsaljko, Acerbi, Antei, Peluso; Duncan, Magnanelli, Biondini; Politano, Falcinelli, Sansone

Watch: Paulo Dybala pulls a Del Piero, puts
Juventus ahead of Sassuolo with curling strike

This goal, it was a pretty goal.

When you mention how Paulo Dybala hasn't scored a goal in four league games in your match preview, he certainly has a way of putting those words to bed once and for all. And in quite impressive fashion, too.

After a few close calls in the opening 30 minutes against Sassuolo on Friday night, Dybala broke the scoreless deadlock with an absolute peach of a goal to put Juventus in front 1-0 in the 35th minute. With a big assist from Juan Cuadrado, Dybala scored for 14th time in Serie A this season, and the first time he found the back of the net in league play since his goal against Frosinone on Feb. 7.

Now, go ahead and watch. And get plenty of warm and fuzzy feelings.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcLwKGxNuaE

I mean, I'm gonna need a second or two after that goal. Seriously, watch it again.

You're not going to see too many of those the rest of the season. You can trust me on that one.

Dybala's left foot is a gift, really. If you wish you had the ability to hit a ball with your left foot like Dybala can, you're certainly not alone. He nearly scored within the first minute of the game with a left-footed volley, but saw Andrea Consigli just get a fingertip to it to send it over the bar. Sassuolo's talented Italian keeper didn't get it a second time, though, as Dybala curled it into the back post like a certain Alessandro Del Piero to put Juventus in front.

But watch the build-up play between Dybala and Cuadrado that set things up. The 1-2 combination, then the long run down the right wing by Cuadrado. It was as pretty as pretty goals get, that's for sure.

Juventus 1-0 Sassuolo: Dybala nets
winner to extend Juve's lead

The Old Lady extended their unbeaten run in Serie A to 19 matches after
Paulo Dybala's first half strike sealed a narrow victory for the hosts.

Juventus set a new Serie A clean sheet record and moved six points clear of Napoli at the top of Serie A with a 1-0 home victory over Sassuolo on Friday.

Paulo Dybala scored his 14th league goal of the season with a brilliant curling strike in the first half and that goal proved decisive in Turin.

Juve have now kept 10 consecutive league clean sheets – a new record – and extend their advantage over closest Scudetto rivals Napoli, who are now under pressure ahead of their game at Palermo on Sunday.

The latest victory means morale will be high as Massimiliano Allegri's men prepare to travel to play Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie – which is evenly poised at 2-2 - on Wednesday.

Sassuolo came into the game on the back of three straight victories and without being beaten in five, but remain seventh in the table after struggling to beat Gianluigi Buffon, who will surpass Sebastiano Rossi's Serie A record run without conceding if he is unbeaten after four minutes of Juve's derby clash with Torino next weekend.

Juventus almost made a dream start inside a minute. Mario Mandzukic's flick found strike partner Dybala and he unleashed a stunning 25-yard volley that was tipped over by away goalkeeper Andrea Consigli.

Juve rested the likes of Patrice Evra and Paul Pogba as part of four changes, but they were making the early running and forced Consigli into another save from Alex Sandro's header.

The visitors, who also made four switches with key attacker Domenico Berardi ruled out, twice came close themselves in the opening exchanges but Matteo Politano and Alfred Duncan both missed the target from decent positions.

Sami Khedira squandered a good chance to put the hosts in front, prodding a first-time effort over from close range after Dybala had kept a neat move alive and squared from the right.

The breakthrough was coming and it arrived through the influential Dybala on 36 minutes.

Juan Cuadrado embarked on an excellent run down the right-hand side before drifting infield and picking out Dybala, who took one touch before picking his spot from the edge of the box with a curling left-footed shot that found the far corner, giving Consigli no chance.

The second half began quietly, with neither side registering an attempt on target until Buffon did well to push away a Nicola Sansone long-range strike with 15 minutes remaining, while Consigli saved from Kwadwo Asamoah at the other end.

The champions, who brought on Pogba and Alvaro Morata late on, saw the France midfielder come close, but he was denied by Consigli after striking Cuadrado's cut-back towards goal.

Juve briefly had their clean sheet record threatened by another powerful Sansone strike, but the ever-reliable Buffon got down sharply as the hosts put in a solid performance ahead of the crunch trip to Munich.

Juve thank Dybala and Buffon

Paulo Dybala’s spectacular left-foot curler and Gigi Buffon
beating Dino Zoff’s record gave Juventus a slender win over Sassuolo.

Sansone left Andrea Barzagli in his wake on a mazy run, setting up Politano for a shot charged down, while Alex Sandro was decisive to stop Politano meeting Duncan’s cross from six yards.

Buffon broke Dino Zoff’s record of 903 minutes without conceding a goal, so only Sebastiano Rossi of Milan remained with 929 minutes in the all-time Serie A run. This means he only needs three minutes in the Derby della Mole to break that too.

Khedira wasted another great chance when he hesitated on a Dybala pull-back and could only see his shot charged down, as did Cuadrado on the follow-up, while Buffon had his gloves stung by Sansone’s strike.

Consigli beat away a Pogba effort and stood strong to deny Alvaro Morata’s solo attempt at the near post, while Buffon had trouble on a Sansone counter that bounced right in front of him and Marcello Trotta’s shot was charged down in the box.

There were concerns as Mandzukic, who as usual worked his socks off, limped away in the final minutes.

Juventus
Buffon; Rugani, Bonucci, Barzagli; Cuadrado, Khedira (Pogba 72), Marchisio, Asamoah, Alex Sandro; Dybala (Morata 79), Mandzukic (Lichtsteiner 88)

Sassuolo

Paulo Dybala scored the only goal of the match as Juventus opened up a six-point lead at the top of Serie A courtesy of a 1-0 win over Sassuolo on Friday night.

Juve, who have incredibly now not conceded a single goal in their last 10 league matches, almost had the lead inside two minutes when Mario Mandzukic set up Dybala with a super flick, but the youngster's volley from all of 25 yards was tipped over the crossbar by Andrea Consigli.

The home side continued to threaten in the early moments and again came close in the 17th minute through Alex Sandro, but the Brazilian could not beat the busy Consigli with a close-range header.

Sassuolo came close through Alfred Duncan two minutes later, but the Ghanaian fired wide of the post after smart work from Matteo Politano in a wide position.

The home side had the lead in the 36th minute, however, when Dybala found the top corner with a super strike after excellent work from Juan Cuadrado.

Sassuolo's best chance of the second period fell to Nicola Sansone 15 minutes from time, but the attacker could not find a route past the diving Gianluigi Buffon.

Juve should have scored a second in the latest stages following chances for Paul Pogba and Alvaro Morata, but one goal was ultimately all that separated the two teams in Turin. The defeat is Sassuolo's first in six Serie A matches and they remain in seventh position in the table.

Juventus 1-0 Sassuolo: Dybala’s Curler
Enough To Get Past Stern Neroverdi

Juventus beat Sassuolo 1-0 at the Juventus stadium on Friday night.

The Bianconeri opened the scoring through the Argentine maestro Paulo Dybala in the 36th minute. In the second-half the Neroverdi improved immensely as they thwarted many Juventus attacks. However, despite their attacking effort they couldn’t find a equaliser.

The first chance of the night fell to Juventus within the first minute of the match.

Juan Cuadrado played a pass into the feet of Mario Mandzukic who flicked ball back to Dybala, who’s audacious volley was superbly tipped over by Andrea Consigli.

The Old Lady were dominating the match and should have opened the scoring when Dybala’s floated free-kick was headed straight at Consigli by Alex Sandro at the back-post.

Sassuolo soon replied. A floated long-ball was fired back to Alfred Duncan on the edge of the penalty area by Nicola Sansone, but the Ghanaian could only drive his effort wide.

However, the Bianconeri’s dominance eventually paid dividends. Cuadrado’s drove down the right-wing before pulling the ball back to Dybala, who’s stunning curled shot flew past Consigli.

After the interval the game turned into a tight affair and chances came at a premium. Juventus came closest to scoring when Dybala got the the byline and pulled the ball back to Cuadrado but his effort was brilliantly blocked.

Sassuolo’s first chance of the half came in the 75th minute. Sansone cut inside from the left-wing and produced a stinging and dipping shot, which forced Gianluigi Buffon into a decent save.

As the game became stretched the Neroverdi looked increasingly dangerous. Once again Sansone drove at the heart of the Juventus defence and smacked a fierce shot goalwards, but yet again Buffon saved the Bianconeri.

The result leaves Juventus in first place whereas Sassuolo stay seventh in the table.

Paulo Dybala leads Juventus past
Sassuolo to extend Serie A lead

Paulo Dybala's superb first-half strike sent Juventus six points clear at the top of Serie A after a 1-0 victory over Sassuolo.

The Argentina international scored his 14th league goal of the season to help the Old Lady edge further ahead of second-placed Napoli, who face Palermo on Sunday.

It was also a significant night for Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, who kept his 10th successive Serie A clean sheet to move within four minutes of breaking Sebastiano Rossi's all-time record.

Former Milan stopper Rossi went 929 minutes without conceding a goal in Italy's top flight in the early 1990s and Buffon will have one eye on bettering that in the opening stages of Juventus' next Serie A clash against Torino next Sunday.

The leaders, who have now won 18 of their last 19 games in the league, made a bright start with Dybala testing Sassuolo keeper Andrea Consigli within the first 60 seconds.

The Old Lady continued to probe as Mario Mandzukic, Alex Sandro and Juan Cuadrado all wasted half-chances in the opening 15 minutes.

Sandro got another sight of goal on 17 minutes with a free header at the back post from Dybala's free kick that was well saved by the feet of the alert Consigli.

Sassuolo, though, should have opened the scoring themselves moments later. A cutback from Sime Vrsaljko played in Alfred Duncan who dragged a glorious chance wide with his left foot from the centre of the box.

Back came Juventus and Dybala, who was at the centre of most good things for the hosts. The forward somehow poked the ball back from the byline to the onrushing Sami Khedira who managed to spoon the ball over from three yards.

Dybala had gone four Serie A games without a goal but he put an end to that in emphatic style on 36 minutes.

Cuadrado did the leg work down the right -- skipping his way past Francisco Acerbi, who slipped in trying to stop the Colombia winger -- and there was nothing Consigli could do to stop Dybala's left-footed effort curling into the far corner from the edge of the box.

Diego Falcinelli also lined up a left-footed effort as the half drew to a close but the Sassuolo striker lacked the precision of Dybala and the hosts went into the break a goal to the good.

Chances were limited in the second half as Juventus looked to preserve Buffon's remarkable record and Sassuolo began to gain a foothold.

Sandro wasted the best of the early second-half opportunities for the hosts and Cuadrado should have done better than to scuff his left-footed shot into a packed visiting defence after a goalmouth scramble.

Paul Pogba was introduced from the bench on 72 minutes and, almost immediately, Buffon was called into action by Nicola Sansone's right-footed effort from long range.

France international Pogba soon found his feet, though his close-range shot was palmed to safety by Consigli.

Juventus substitute Alvaro Morata was shut out at the near post by Consigli with four minutes remaining while Buffon's record was tested for the final time by Sansone on the break with Italy's No. 1 more than equal to his 20-yard shot.

Paulo Dybala described his wonder goal against Sassuolo and said “nothing is impossible” as Juventus visit Bayern Munich.

La Joya sealed the 1-0 Serie A victory this evening with a left-foot curler from the edge of the box, in off the inside of the far post.

“It was a very fast move, I didn’t control the ball very well, but it went well anyway,” Dybala told Mediaset Premium and Sky Sport Italia.

“Was it my best goal? No, I scored one fairly similar to that for Palermo. These are difficult games, there are nine to the end and we have to win in any way possible, whether it’s 1-0 or 10-0.

“In the second half we lost intensity, Sassuolo had nothing to lose and started to push us back while looking for the equaliser.”

Juventus have won 18 games and drawn one since their 1-0 defeat to Sassuolo on October 28.

“People gave us up for dead, but we are here on top of the table and fighting for a fifth consecutive Scudetto.”

The Bianconeri go to the Allianz Arena for the Champions League on Wednesday, having drawn the first leg 2-2. Is it a mission impossible with Bayern Munich?

“Nothing is impossible in life or in football.”

Clean Sheet History

After keeping Sassuolo at bay on Friday night, Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is three minutes away from making history.

Juventus are away at Torino in the derby next week, but if Buffon can keep his rivals from scoring for only 180 seconds then he will have set the new record for the longest amount of time in Serie A without conceding.

Against Sassuolo, Buffon leapfrogged Italian icon Dino Zoff who hadn’t conceded in 903 minutes at one point.

Buffon hasn’t been beaten for 923 minutes, mere seconds away from smashing the 22 year old record set by Sebastiano Rossi in 1994 for AC Milan.

The Bianconeri moved six points clear for now ahead of Napoli in the league standings, as they chase their fifth consecutive Scudetto.

They remain in the hunt in both the Coppa Italia and Champions League, too, although face tricky fixtures against AC Milan and Bayern Munich in weeks to come.
