The Orobici were without a win in 2016 and missed Mauricio Pinilla, Alejandro Gomez and Carlos Carmona.Atalanta have not beaten Juventus, home and away in all competition, since November 2004. They’ve lost the last 11 consecutive encounters, picking up two draws from 17.Sami Khedira forced Marco Sportiello to parry with his legs after combining with Pereyra, but Luca Cigarini scuffed his volley in a very promising Atalanta move.Juve’s pressure did pay off from a corner, which was knocked down by Mario Mandzukic for the unmarked Barzagli to volley in from six yards. The centre-back was unmarked, as Marten De Roon was keeping everyone onside.Incredibly, Barzagli’s last Serie A goal back on May 13 2012 was also against Atalanta, a penalty converted during their end of the season Scudetto celebrations.Gigi Buffon had his own tally to keep, as on the half-hour he took his unbeaten run to 775 minutes of Serie A football, a record since the League went to three points for a win.Paul Pogba had timid penalty appeals for a Rafael Toloi tussle, while De Roon’s volley was well held by Buffon.Atalanta 0-1 Juventus (Half-Time)Scorers: Barzagli 24' (J)Atalanta: Sportiello; Toloi, Paletta, Masiello; Conti, Kurtic, Cigarini, De Roon, Dramè; Borriello, MonachelloJuventus: Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Barzagli, Bonucci, Evra; Khedira, Marchisio, Pogba; Pereyra; Mandzukic, DybalaRef: Valeri http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Having seen Napoli triumph on Saturday, Juve responded a day later with a 17th victory in their last 18 league matches as Massimiliano Allegri's men hunt their fifth successive title. Barzagli gave Juv the lead after 23 minutes, turning home a Mario Mandzukic header for his first Serie A goal since May 2012, which also came against Atalanta. Lemina came off the bench to secure the victory with five minutes to go and another loss extends Atalanta's winless streak to 13 league matches as they slip further towards the relegation zone. An eighth successive clean sheet for Juve means Gianluigi Buffon is now on the third longest Serie A run without conceding a goal, behind only Sebastiano Rossi (929 minutes) and Dino Zoff (903 minutes). Claudio Marchisio returned from a thigh injury for Juve, but Giorgio Chiellini's calf problem kept the defender out, while Atalanta were without Alejandro Gomez (hamstring) and Mauricio Pinilla (calf). The hosts started brightly, but the first chance went to Juve after 10 minutes when a quick break freed Sami Khedira to shoot inside the box, Marco Sportiello saving well at his near post. Luca Cigarini then miscued a volley straight at Buffon as Atalanta continued to threaten. Paul Pogba curled a long-range strike just over the crossbar after 20 minutes, but the champions scored from their next attack. Atalanta failed to deal with a simple cross into the box and Barzagli, played onside by the unwitting Marten de Roon, swept in a close-range finish after Mandzukic flicked the ball on. With Juve looking typically solid at the back, Buffon set a record for the longest period without conceding a goal since three points for a win were introduced in Serie A 22 years ago, the veteran having not been breached in 775 minutes. Seeking to end that run, Atalanta broke at pace after Marchisio was caught on the ball six minutes before half-time, but De Roon's volley was comfortably saved by Buffon. A moment of madness by Sportiello almost handed Juve a second goal after 58 minutes, but Mandzukic could not capitalise on the goalkeeper losing possession when attempting an ill-advised dribble. Mandzukic could have sealed a 12th straight win for Juve Against Atalanta after 68 minutes, his free header flying over the crossbar. With seven minutes to go Rafael Tolio was inches away from turning in an equaliser at the back post, but he could not stretch to get a decisive touch. Substitute Lemina then secured the points, riding two tackles before smashing a low strike into the bottom corner to seal another win for Allegri's side.http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Mar 6, 2016 Atalanta were defeated 2-0 by Juventus at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia in their Sunday afternoon Serie A fixture. Andrea Barzagli and Mario Lemina scored to earn the Old Lady a precious three points as they continue their title challenge. The first chance of the game came from an unlikely source, midfielder Sami Khedira popping up in the box but sent his shot straight at Marco Sportiello. Juventus would soon take the lead and once again through an unusual goalscorer, a header from Mario Mandzukic landed into the path of Andrea Barzagli, who gave the Bianconeri the lead as he was kept onside by Marten de Roon. The Dutchman came the closest to levelling the score for the Bergamo outfit, but couldn’t get enough on his volley to truly test Gianluigi Buffon. In the second half Sportiello almost made a calamitous error when he left the penalty area, but was relieved to see Rafael Toloi on the goal-line clearing the shot from Mandzukic. Paulo Dybala was having an uncharacteristically quiet game, and thought he’d won his side a penalty, but was adjudged to have fouled Boukary Drame after a winding run. Substitute Alessandro Diamanti came on and had an instant impact for the hosts, his corner landing at Toloi but the Brazilian couldn’t stretch to turn his header on target. The away side had a moment of inspiration from one of their own substitutes, Mario Lemina dancing past the Atalanta defenders and striking with the outside of the boot past Sportiello to secure the win. Atalanta had one final chance to beat Buffon in goal, but Andrea Masiello saw his header saved by the veteran shot-stopper. Juventus regain their three point lead ahead of Napoli at the summit of Serie A, while Atalanta drop one place to 15th with Genoa beating Empoli; with the relegation zone getting ever closer. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Massimiliano Allegri's men were caught by Scudetto rivals Napoli on Saturday night but re-established their advantage thanks to a rare goal from defender Andrea Barzagli and a late strike from substitute Mario Lemina. Atalanta barely threatened at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia and consequently remain dangerously close to the relegation zone. Juve had to watch from afar as Napoli beat Chievo 3-1 to move back into a share of first place and the reigning champions' pent-up frustration showed in the early minutes in Bergamo. Paul Pogba fed Sami Khedira with a sumptuous backheel before the German midfielder sent Marco Sportiello sprawling at his near post. Centre-back Barzagli grabbed the opener in the 24th minute. Paulo Dybala's corner was met by the towering Mario Mandzukic and the ball fell nicely for Barzagli to sweep home his first Juve goal since May 2012. It was not until the hour mark that the Bianconeri threatened again, with Sportiello denying Mandzukic only to leave himself exposed to the Croatian. Luckily, Rafael Toloi made a last-ditch clearance. Sportiello raced off his line to deny Khedira when he was set fair to score but, in the 86th minute, Juve did manage to beat the home stopper once again. The second goal came from another unfamiliar source, on-loan Marseille midfielder Lemina, who skipped past Gabriel Paletta and Toloi before besting Sportiello with a rocket from the edge of the area. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

We had a good first half and fell away after the break, especially in the last 20 minutes, so thankfully Mario Lemina scored to secure the result.“The fatigue is starting to take its toll. Mar 6, 2016 Max Allegri still wasn’t entirely happy with the Juventus performance and told off Paul Pogba. The Bianconeri stayed two points clear at the top of the Serie A table with a 2-0 victory away to Atalanta. “It’s one less game, one less win we need to achieve. It was a good first half, we made some mistakes in our passing choices after the break and in the last half-hour should’ve done better. “The approach to the game was good, we could’ve scored more than one early on and moved the ball around well. Once we stopped playing, they started whipping in crosses and we naturally suffered a bit. “We have to work on the second half performance, as we gave the ball away too quickly and were trying to score early, whereas you can have more than three passes on the way into the box." Andrea Barzagli and Mario Lemina were rare goalscorers in Bergamo. “I am happy for Andrea, as he’s the one who usually stays back to protect when the others go up for a corner or free kick. Mario scored a great goal. “Usually big clubs have great players who can score a goal out of nowhere and break the deadlock. This season we have three more points than Napoli, but they scored 10 goals more than we did, so defence is especially important.” Mario Mandzukic got back at one point to defend inside his own box, running from an attacking corner to prevent an Atalanta equaliser. “Let’s say this is a different Juve to last season. There are 10 new players who have different experiences. The young lads have improved and we are gaining in our authority when dealing with various moments of the game, as we did today. “Mandzukic is generous and works for the team. He is the player we needed, as he has strong personality and also different characteristics to replace Carlos Tevez. “Pogba is a player who can make the difference if he plays it simple and is focused. He got booked and let that affect him, so he lost his way in the second half and basically stopped playing.” http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Mar 6, 2016 Having somewhat fortunately squeezed past Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday, Juventus travelled to Bergamo on Sunday, taking on Atalanta and confirming their grip on top spot in Serie A courtesy of a 2-0 victory.Extra time and penalties were needed to overcome Roberto Mancini’s Nerazzurri, and the Bianconeri arrived at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia knowing closest rivals Napoli had already taken three points from Chievo on Saturday to close the gap.Even before that, Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri had spoken to the press at his pre-match press conference, admitting an admiration for Sunday's opponents but stressing the importance of securing another victory.“Atalanta play good football on home soil and will make it a tricky test for us,” the coach said. “We need to maintain our lead over Napoli and a win, which is the only result available to us, would enable us to do just that.”His players would labour throughout the game before sealing all three points. What follows is a look at the winners and losers from the game, highlighting the best and worst performances from the Serie A clash.Winner: Andrea Barzagli (Juventus)The early stages of this encounter saw Juventus dominate possession, and perhaps the only surprise about the opening goal was the identity of the scorer. Inexplicably left unmarked in front of goal, defender Andrea Barzagli tapped home his first strike in almost four years. His previous goal came against the same opponents back in 2012, and the 34-year-old clearly enjoyed it, laughing as he celebrated with his team-mates. Barzagli was also typically resolute in defence, helping the Bianconeri to yet another clean sheet as they extended their lead at the top of the table to three points.Loser: Marten de Roon (Atalanta)If Barzagli was fortunate to be handed such an opportunity to break the deadlock, he owed a debt of gratitude to Atalanta’s Marten de Roon. The Dutch midfielder played the Juve man onside at a set piece, and in truth, the home side never recovered from that error, rarely threatening to draw level as the match progressed.De Roon’s poor afternoon continued, with WhoScored.com statistics showing he completed just 67.4 per cent of his passes and committed four fouls.Winner: Mario Lemina (Juventus)Having watched as Sami Khedira give another commanding performance in central midfield, Mario Lemina was introduced as a second-half substitute, just as he was in Juve’s midweek Coppa Italia clash with Inter. He would play a much more decisive role here, however, skipping past a number of Atalanta defenders before slotting the ball beyond Marco Sportiello and extending the Bianconeri's lead in the 86th minute.Loser: Paul Pogba (Juventus)While the final score made the match appear comfortable for Juventus, it rarely was. Paul Pogba must shoulder some responsibility for that. The France international was hugely ineffective throughout the match, making little impact against an opponent he should have been able to dominate.Winner: Marco Sportiello (Atalanta)Although his side lost, Sportiello deserves credit for his display. The goalkeeper was often left exposed by his defence but gave a good account of himself. Before the game, the 23-year-old told his team-mates not to be afraid of the Bianconeri and played without fear himself over the 90 minutes.“We never take to the pitch just to lose, even against Juventus,” Sportiello told L’Eco di Bergamo (h/t Forza Italian Football) ahead of the game. “You lose if you sit back and don’t do anything else against the big teams because they have quality players who can change a game with a single piece of play.” http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

That last adjective would possibly be too harsh on consummate professionals like Juventus, especially after Mario Lemina sprinkled his magic at the end of what had been a fairly uninspiring game. But if the Italian champions' performance was not hideous to the eye, it was certainly workmanlike against an opponent that never looked like taking anything out of the game. The efficiency and work-rate showed by Massimiliano Allegri's troops was enough to get past Atalanta, and it may well be enough to deliver a fifth consecutive Scudetto come May. It will not, however, be enough to secure Juventus' own mission impossible later this month, beating Bayern Munich in their own back-yard to assure the Champions League dream continues. There were plenty of positives for Allegri to take from Sunday's win, the 17th Juventus have picked up out of their last 18 (unbeaten) Serie A outings. The defence was once more formidable, with Gianluigi Buffon barely tested on his way to a ninth straight clean sheet. Not only were Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Barzagli predictably flawless against the admittedly toothless Atalanta attack, but the latter also found himself in the right place at the right time to smash home Mario Mandzukic's header. Mario Stoppiello could do nothing, while the host's set-piece defence was so glaringly absent it would not look out of place on a wild west WANTED poster. Further forward Paulo Dybala was his usual irrepressible self, twisting his rivals one way and the other as he probed constantly on goal. And youngster Lemina delighted the visiting fans with a fantastic individual effort, finally sealing the three points on the off-chance that Atalanta on one occasion might threaten 'Gigi' between the posts. The warning signs, nevertheless, are there. It took Barzagli's first strike in 91 Serie A clashes and almost four years to break the deficit, and Juve showed little sign of adding to their advantage until their knight in shining armour and bleached highlights came to save the day. Those offensive shortcomings will be forgiven against Atalanta, but not against the likes of Bayern in the Allianz Arena. It is in the midfield where the Old Lady's fragility shows. While tidy enough, Sami Khedira and Roberto Pereyra failed to feed the likes of Dybala and Paul Pogba the type of quality possession they need to punch holes in the final third. And while their defensive deficiencies were barely exposed against the wretched hosts, performances such as the first half against Bayern - who, lest we forget, only let Juve back into their Champions League tie thanks to a criminal and most un-Pep-like drop in intensity - and the Coppa Italia semi-final debacle against Inter show that behind the formidable statistics there are plenty of holes in the Bianconeri hull. A win next weekend at home to Sassuolo coupled with Napoli dropping points to Palermo in the Sicilian capital would all but crown Allegri's men as Serie A champions once again. The real test, though, looms in Bavaria. Another 1-0 win on the road will take Juventus into the last-eight: and on the evidence given in Bergamo, unless the team can move up the gears in time Guardiola's perfectionists will prove a bridge too far. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Mar 6, 2016 Coach Edy Reja is pleased with Atalanta in spite of their 2-0 loss to Juventus: 'They had real trouble against us'. La Dea were defeated in today's game, but their opponents did not always look like the all-conquering team-beaters they are known to be. “We were after a victory that was never going to be easy against Juventus,” Reja told the Press. “If I look at what we did in the first half, I can see that the Bianconeri had trouble. “We conceded a goal on a corner kick, while the second one came after a double rebound. I'm happy with our second half. Clearly, from 31 points downwards in the standings, all the teams are in danger of relegation. There's going to be a real melee. “We've been waiting for a victory for a while now. We really paid for our mistake on the 1-0. I wouldn't say that Juventus gave us any more trouble than we expected. “We tried to keep the game alive until the end. We certainly didn't lack our opportunities, in spite of playing against a team of such high value.” Reja said before the game that he would walk by foot until the town of Gorizia if he won. “It would have been difficult, but I'd have been pleased to do it. It wouldn't have been a sacrifice. “I waited to field Diamanti because he had some muscular trouble in his thighs. He spent six months without a game and then played three matches in a row. I never meant to field him from the very beginning. I knew he'd be decisive in the end because he has the right moves. “Borriello had a good game. We must make sure we're all in a good condition in order to reach our objective.” http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Captain and goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon continued his amazing shutout streak, now at 836 minutes and enough to give him the Serie A record in the '3pts for a win' era. The Bianconeri have now equalled their club record of nine matches without conceding a goal. The all-time Serie A record of 929 minutes established by AC Milan stopper Sebastiano Rossi in 1993/94 is tantalizingly within San Gigi's reach. Not that this overshadows two other rare events from today's game. Andrea Barzagli doesn't score very often, but when he scores, he does so against Atalanta. His last goal in the Serie A was back in May 2012, also against the men from Bergamo. And then Mario Lemina deflated any chances of a home comeback today by skipping past a couple of challenges and rifling home with aplomb. After the game, this is what manager Massimiliano Allegri had to say about the win - "It's one less game, one less win we need to achieve. It was a good first half, we made some mistakes in our passing choices after the break and in the last half-hour should've done better. "The approach to the game was good, we could've scored more than one early on and moved the ball around well. Once we stopped playing, they started whipping in crosses and we naturally suffered a bit. "We have to work on the second half performance, as we gave the ball away too quickly and were trying to score early, whereas you can have more than three passes on the way into the box." Goalscorer Andrea Barzagli came in for some compliments from Allegri - "I am happy for Andrea, as he's the one who usually stays back to protect when the others go up for a corner or free kick. Mario scored a great goal. "Usually big clubs have great players who can score a goal out of nowhere and break the deadlock. This season we have three more points than Napoli, but they scored 10 goals more than we did, so defence is especially important." Also a recipient of kind words from the manager was Mario Mandzukic - "Let's say this is a different Juve to last season. There are 10 new players who have different experiences. The young lads have improved and we are gaining in our authority when dealing with various moments of the game, as we did today. "Mandzukic is generous and works for the team. He is the player we needed, as he has strong personality and also different characteristics to replace Carlos Tevez." However Allegri was unimpressed by superstar Paul Pogba, saying he displayed the 'wrong attitude', and adding - "Pogba is a player who can make the difference if he plays it simple and is focused. He got booked and let that affect him, so he lost his way in the second half and basically stopped playing." Allegri did not directly address rumors of his contract extension, reported earlier this week - "We are on the same wavelength. This is a contract year, so we will sit at the table and will then evaluate what to do. I'm fine, I'm at Juve, a great club." http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Mar 6, 2016 Juventus' Gianluigi Buffon is close to setting a new record for the longest undefeated goalkeeping run in Serie A. Keeping Atalanta at bay, the 38-year-old has now gone 836', or nine games, without conceding a goal in Serie A. He is currently third in the all-time record, after Dino Zoff's 1972-73 run of 903' for Juventus and Sebastiano Rossi's 1993-94 run of 929' for Milan. This means that if the Old Lady's next game against Sassuolo lasts at least 94' minutes and Buffon doesn't concede a goal, he will have established a new all-time record in Serie A. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Mar 6, 2016 Juventus defender Patrice Evra has praised his team’s determination whilst also denying the Bianconeri are not showing signs of fatigue after their 2-0 win against Atalanta. The Old Lady are fighting on all three trophy fronts this season and have had to deal with a congested fixture list of late, but despite this, Evra was adamant the team was not tired. “After our poor start this season, we had to win at least 10 in a row,” Evra told Premium Sport. “To say that we are tired now does not make any sense. “There are so many leaders in this team, especially the coach. We are all playing with desire and love for the jersey. “I have faith in the team, the staff, the fans. The team is growing and we can win Serie A once again. Last year no could have even dreamt we could have reached the final of the Champions League. ” Evra was also bullish about Juventus’s chances of getting past Bayern Munich, in the second-leg of their Champions League last 16 tie. “In Munich I promise the fans will be proud of their team,” Evra asserted. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Pogba was cautioned in the 43rd minute for a foul on Atalanta defender Rafael Toloi. Winning 2-0 against Atalanta, a team that relied on defensive caution and offered little going forward, it seems no one can contain Juventus and their winning mentality. After the embarrassment suffered against Inter, the Bianconeri were keen to return to winning ways and all the players ensured a well-rounded display to ensure success. A team that understands how to work as a unit, it's rather special to watch Mario Mandzukic contribute defensively and Andrea Barzagli score the winning goal. However, while the Old Lady's superior quality ensured a win, they were far from perfect and were forced to suffer, when Edy Reja's men attempted to find a way of overcoming an organised Juve side by exploiting the wide areas and delivering in crosses. Juventus must ensure they remain focused at all times even when the opponent isn't skilled enough to put up a stronger challenge, sometimes luck is all that is needed to spring a surprise.Atalanta have found it difficult to score goals this season and their performance on Sunday proved exactly why they are struggling to collect vital points to avoid relegation. However, when players such as Mario Lemina sit on Juve's bench and are ready to offer the contribution he did, then how can the Old Lady really be stopped form winning yet another Scudetto?Player ratingsGianluigi Buffon, 7 -- Barely made to work against an offensively blunt side yet still remain concentrated to make a block at the end of the match.Stephan Lichtsteiner, 6 -- The Swiss can always be relied upon to offer tactical intelligence and great runs pushing forward.Leonardo Bonucci, 7 -- A centre-back of immense quality, Bonucci had another excellent day at the back even if he was barely troubled. When deployed alongside another reliable defender, his qualities shine even brighter, reading the game with brilliance.Andrea Barzagli, 8 -- A brilliant defender, a leader and the man who opened the scoring. Barzagli is a player who is intelligent when taking a risk and scored the opening goal because of it. Juve are lucky to have him.Patrice Evra, 6 -- Evra often speaks about how Serie A has taught him to defend better and against Atalanta, he concentrated on that, remaining defensively cautious to ensure security.Sami Khedira, 7 -- Better in providing the quality that is required of that role but the opponent did offer him the right opportunities to express himself. Needs to continue making those decisive runs forward to cause offensive pressure.Claudio Marchisio, 6 -- A reliable player, always does his job but he's struggling to do more than that. Would like to see him reclaim his old role and perhaps allow someone else to act as the director as an experiment.Paul Pogba, 6 -- Still too emotional for a player of his stature. Impressionable and easily distracted, when frustrated or emotional, he can drop out of the game. Must learn how to keep motivating himself like a winning player does. Still fantastic to watch when he overcomes defenders with the ball at his feet.Roberto Pereyra, 5 -- A little confused with his position and how to work with Dybala. He's yet to understand how to give his best in that role given how long he's been out for but still managed a few interesting moves.Paulo Dybala, 7 -- His intelligence and technique cannot be doubted but he almost operates on a different wavelength to his teammates who cannot offer him what he needs all the time to shine.Mario Mandzukic, 7 -- A hardworking forward who is relentless in his desire to help the team, he works hard offensively, always holding up the ball and tracks back to contribute effectively in defence.SubstitutesMario Lemina , 7 -- That goal deserves to be replayed a thousand times. Having only just returned from injury recently, the youngster showed off his determination and stamina before scoring a sensational goal that perfectly revealed the extent of his skill.Alex Sandro, N/A -- Sandro offers so much in his role but if there is one thing he must eliminate, it is his reckless manner. Foolish at times which can potentially harm the team.Alvaro Morata, N/A -- Only afforded a few minutes on the field. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Atalanta coach Edy Reja parked the bus in front of his goal, but luckily the Bianconeri had the "always trustworthy" strikeforce of Andrea Barzagli and Mario Lemina at their disposal to break Reja's defensive seal. Max Allegri returned to the 4-3-1-2 formation, he deployed Roberto Pereyra as trequartista behind the partnership of Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala. Reja employed a 3-5-2 configuration, starting former Juventus striker Marco Borriello in attack. The first half looked like an attack vs. defense training drill. The Bianconeri claimed the ball from the beginning and tried to break Atalanta's resistance with their offensive resources and imagination. Just 10 minutes after the kickoff, Juventus executed a series of lovely passes that reached Sami Khedira behind the Neroazurri defense. The German midfielder fired a low shot, but Marco Sportiello made a clever save with his legs. Four minutes later, Atalanta stole the ball from Claudio Marchisio in the middle of the park, Borriello sent a deep cross that found Luca Cigarini on the far post, but his volley was defective and easily saved by Gianluigi Buffon. At the 24th minute, Juventus took the lead with a corner kick. Manzukic raised up inside the penalty area and assisted Barzagli with a header, the defender sent the ball to the back of the net from close range. After the goal, Juventus took their foot off the gas. Atalanta attempted to respond but Buffon and his defenders managed the situation with aplomb. The second half began with a furious counterattack by the Neroazurri. On 48 minutes, Atalanta took advantage of an erratic corner kick and charged towards Buffon. But Mandzukic tracked the play and made an impressive box-to-box save. On 59 minutes, Sportiello made his best René Higuita interpretation, as the young goalkeeper tried to dribble past Mandzukic just outside his penalty area, but the Croatian disposed him. Fortunately for Atalanta, Mandzukic failed to put enough power behind his shot, allowing Rafael Tallói to cover his keeper. Juventus was in control of the game, but it felt like Atalanta could make some damage sooner or later. Allegri brought fresh legs when he replaced Khedira for Lemina at the 68th minute. In the last half hour, Juventus attempted a few timid attacks and Reya went all in introducing his veteran playmaker Alessandro Diamanti into the game. It appeared that Juventus would try to guard their minimal advantage in the scoreboard, but Lemina had other plans. At the 87th minute the Gabonese midfielder took the ball on the edge of the box, he went past two defenders with a step-over and a nutmeg, then he curled a beautiful shot with the outside of his boot beating a diving Sportiello. This marvelous score killed the game off and gave the Bianconeri the security to navigate on the final minutes. On injury time, Atalanta performed their last scoring attempts. Andrea Masiello executed a dangerous volley from the corner of the box that Buffon saved skillfully on the far post. A few seconds later, Tolói fired a poisonous shot; however, Buffon controlled the ball effortlessly. Juventus won another game on Serie A, a really important one because Napoli beat Chievo 3-1 at Stadio San Paolo on Saturday. Now, the Bianconeri will host the dangerous Sassuolo on Friday. Later, on March 16, the Turin-based squad will travel to the Allianz Arena to clash against Bayern Munich. Therefore, guys, let's keep our seat belts fastened.LE PAGELLEBuffon 6.75 Gigi played with his usual poise and personality. He leaded his defense expertly and managed Atalanta's hazards skillfully.Litchsteiner 6.5 The Swiss Express delivered a solid match defensively. He was quiet on attack.Bonucci 7 Leo was decisive with some clever interceptions and his aerial skills. Borriello never disturbed him.Barzagli 8 "The Bomber" Barzagli played a great game. He unlocked the duel with his score and never put a foot wrong on the defense side.Evra 6.5 The Frenchman accomplished a pair of interesting incursions on offense, like his Swiss counterpart he was solid on defense.Khedira 6.75 Big Sami performed his trademark long runs into the box early and often. He was a constant menace to the neroazurri defense.Marchisio 6 The Bianconeri regista tracked nicely most of Atalanta's attacks. However, he lost a couple of dangerous balls on the midfield that his opponents failed to concrete.Pogba 6.25 He was incisive during the first half of the game, but he continues to struggle with his consistency.Pereyra 5.5 El Tucumano was a ghost, he got lost between the enemy's lines and didn't make an impact.Dybala 6.75 La Joya was extremely dynamic on this match, he created havoc on his rivals' defense but his final touch missed the usual finesse.Mandzukic 7.25 A warrior on the turf. He sacrificed himself on defense and delivered the assist for Barzagli's goal.Subs. Lemina 7.25 The Gabonese youngster made an impact with his habitual energy. His score was an authentic jewel that served to finish the match.Sandro s/v Entered for Pereyra at the 81st minute.Morata s/v Entered for Dybala at the 88th minuteCoach Allegri 6.5 It was a difficult game at Bergamo. He managed the rhythm of the game; nevertheless, right now, Juventus are suffering with the catenaccio of the provincial clubs.Things I think I think This past Wednesday night, Barzagli scored on the penalty shootout against Inter and on Sunday he scored again. This guy is simply amazing and full of surprises. Gigi Buffon hasn't conceded a goal on 836 minutes for Serie A ... and I won't say anything about Dino Zoff or Sebastiano Rossi because I don't want to jinx the record. By the way, it isn't bad for a 38-year-old goalkeeper. Lemina's goal right now is in my podium for Juventus' best goal of 2016. What a beauty! Mar 7, 2016 Sunday afternoon saw Juventus earn a 2-0 victory over Atalanta, a result that saw them maintain their three-point lead at the top of the Serie A standings. Still enjoying that cushion over closest rivals Napoli, the season is looking increasingly positive for the Bianconeri, who have also secured a place in the Coppa Italia final. Furthermore, the win in Bergamo marked a ninth-consecutive clean sheet for coach Massimiliano Allegri’s men in the league and extended their unbeaten run to 18-games, a streak that began back in October.OptaPaolo ✔ @OptaPaolo 9 - Juventus have now equaled the Serie A record of nine games without conceding goal. Fortress. It is a superb record, but the Juve boss was less than impressed with Paul Pogba at the full-time whistle, singling out the French midfielder’s performance for particular criticism when he spoke to Sky Sport Italia shortly after the game had ended. “Pogba is a player who can make the difference if he plays it simple and is focused,” Allegri said (h/t Football Italia). “He got booked and let that affect him, so he lost his way in the second half and basically stopped playing.” Indeed, while the coach went on to note that his side now have “one less game, one less win we need to achieve” in their relentless pursuit of yet another Serie A title, there is no denying the poor display Pogba turned in here. The 22-year-old missed the target with all three of his shot attempts against Atalanta, completed just 40 of his 54 pass attempts (74 percent) and committed five fouls as he picked up the yellow card that Allegri mentioned.Adam Digby @Adz77 Paul Pogba vs Atalanta (6/3/): 3 shots (all off target), 40/54 passes (74%), 5 fouls, 1 yellow card (via @StatsZone) Pogba’s lack of impact contributed to what was a disjointed attacking performance from Juventus; the team struggled to overcome a resolute opponent as the returning Roberto Pereyra also laboured in midfield. With that duo misfiring, it was largely left to Paulo Dybala to find a way through the Atalanta defence who were able to swarm him off the ball in numbers all too often. It is not the first time Pogba has been criticised, with this previous post discussing his lack of consistency for the Bianconeri. There is little doubt that the former Manchester United man possesses immense talent and could develop into one of the best players in the world, but until he can routinely make match-winning contributions, that remains some way off. He has made significant impact for both club and country, but the coaches of each side have criticised the player throughout the current campaign. Allegri has repeatedly spoken of a need to improve, telling a press conference in November that Pogba must “read certain moments of the game better.” Meanwhile, France boss Didier Deschamps—himself a former Juventus player—echoed those comments when he spoke to reporters ahead of international friendlies with Armenia and Denmark last October. “It's important to say first, that Pogba is already at a great level,” Deschamps said per Goal.com. “The question is now in term of his consistency and efficiency. He's capable of technical moves that will make all the fans to get up. I have no problem with that but it has to match with efficiency.” That tendency to show off rather than deliver a telling pass has become a recurring theme. It is something the player must look to quickly eradicate from his game, as his fluctuating form is clearly beginning to affect the overall displays of the Italian champions. With key clashes against Bayern Munich and local rivals Torino on the horizon, Juventus need Pogba to become the very best his potential allows if they are to continue their recent success and progress both at home and abroad. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Only The Avatar can masterall four elements And bring balance to the world. http://www.blackwhitereadallover.com/2016/3/7/11120342/juventus-february-thoughts-2016-serie-a-allegri-sturaro-cuadrado-pogba-evra-zaza Mar 7, 2016 Beauty is in the eye of the beholderRecently, there have been some curious expressions of dissatisfaction in the comments section concerning Stefano Sturaro. Is he too one-dimensional for Juventus' midfield? Why doesn’t he contribute more in offensive aspects of the game? Whatever your opinion, there is an interesting and worthwhile discussion to be had concerning the hard-working Italian strongman. To me, football is a game about balance. Attacking flair combined with defensive solidity. Possession play in the center combined with expansive wing play. A winger cutting in from one side while the other maintains width on the opposite side. Some players distribute the ball, while others have to dribble at players to provide directness. Everybody has a role within the team and a player’s prime responsibility is to fulfill his role. Above all, a player has to be evaluated against the criteria determined by his role in the team: Has he done what he has been asked to do? Only once he has fulfilled his role adequately and consistently can we assess him against a new set of criteria.I assess Claudio Marchisio against his ability to distribute the ball and provide defensive cover. I assess Paulo Dybala against his ability to provide some fantasia in attack and score goals. Giorgio Chiellini basically has to clobber strikers while getting as few yellow/red cards as possible. And the list goes on.I think that Leonardo Bonucci is a fantastic example to illustrate my point. Bonucci is obviously, first and foremost, a central defender. Therefore, he basically has to nullify the opposition striker(s) and maintain organization in the defense with his fellow defenders. In my opinion though, he was grown to become such a fantastic defender, that now I also judge him in his ability to carry the ball out of defense and provide good distribution and passing out of defense. Not only because distribution is one of his key strengths as a player, but also because nowadays he has fulfilled his duty as a defender so fantastically that he has ‘evolved’ in his responsibilities. So there are two issues here: balance and responsibilities on the pitch. It’s Max Allegri’s responsibility to provide the correct balance on the pitch with his squad selection. It’s the responsibility of the players to fulfill the duties that Allegri has charged them with. And it’s our responsibility as fans to have faith in both parties to make the right decisions.Injuries, injuries, injuries: what on earth is going on?Where the heck are all these muscle injuries coming from? Is this all just an anomaly or an underlying issue that Allegri’s medical team needs to address? Has Max not rotated enough? I know Allegri is a strong believer in adequate nutrition before and after matches, so perhaps that is a contributing factor as well. Whatever the case, all these muscle injuries need to be addressed swiftly before things get out of hand.Better than yours?"Jesus Christ, some Juve fans are so smug and arrogant, it’s appalling. It’s alright if you don’t like a rival club or a player, but to call that whole club a rotten ship is purely generalizations and stereotyping. If you’re truly as classy as you say you are, you shouldn’t stoop down to such petty insults.Oh, and btw, I love Juve as much as anyone on this board (obviously), but this whole harping on about being a "classy" team has got to stop, it’s obnoxious. When it comes to being classy, we’re no better than the average Italian club, in fact, we’re probably worse. We were relegated for cheating a decade ago. We’ve been convicted numerous times of bribery and doping. We’ve gotten tons of refereeing decisions in our favor. Our ultras are just as racist and offensive as ultras of other clubs, if not more so. I know the club has made strides to get rid of these ultras, but still, one can’t forget the ultras making fun of the Superga disaster last year vs. Torino."By MLG Bush Now I know that this is going to seriously ruffle some feathers amongst a lot of us, but allow me to explain why I want to bring this up. I thought there was a good discussion to be had behind what MLG Bush said here a few weeks ago in the comments section. Obviously I strongly disagree with his Calciopoli- and doping-related comments, but there is some validity behind what he says about arrogance, generalizations, and humility. Juventus is a fantastic and amazing club and I’ve never been, or ever will be, ashamed of being a Juventino. The environment around the club, Lo Stile Juve, the stories you hear about the characters and personalities in the dressing room; I’m supremely proud of being associated to all these things. Remember that Darkness lingers in every heart - Master EraqusBut I think we should remember not to get carried away, be smug or arrogant, act holier-than-thou with respect to other clubs or fans, or act like clubs are beneath us. Doing so would probably make us just as ‘bad’ as those that we criticize. Every club has its flaws and Juventus is no different, so we should not allow our emotion and love for the club blind us from them.Catch me if you can"Napoli needed something remarkable to get the victory in Turin, whereas Juve only required a normal performance." Arrigo Sacchi after Juventus vs. NapoliSacchi’s comments after the Juventus-Napoli game were perhaps the most intriguing ones that pointed to deeper issues within Italian football. Despite how close the Scudetto race has been, despite how poor we were at the start of the season, despite how much instability there was at the club during the summer, and despite how tremendous Napoli has been this season, there is still a seemingly insurmountable gap between Juventus and the rest of Italy. Given my academic background in economics, the closet-economist in me became a bit worried. Is such a clear market leader within a given market sustainable in the long-term? Is the market (i.e. league) stagnating? But then I began to think beyond that. Forget about the trite old argument of "it’s bad for the league if Juventus keep winning," think bigger.Although the grumbles about the infamous European Super League have subsided for now, I wonder if Andrea Agnelli, being the consummate businessman that he is, can resist the temptation of such a lucrative proposition. As far as I know, he has neither declared an interest nor taken a particular stance on the idea, but I just wonder if he might not begin to consider new ways to grow the club, especially financially, or if the current marketplace in Italy is sufficient to achieve his ambitions for Juventus.Tactics, SchmacticsGiven the frustrating amount of injuries to the team, Allegri has not been able to play his now-preferred 3-5-2 formation as much as he would have like to. Since Roberto Pereyra is still not quite match-fit yet, Max has opted for a flat 4-4-2 with Paul Pogba as a mezzala on the left and Juan Cuadrado as an out-and-out winger on the right. In attack, it basically becomes an extremely lopsided 4-3-3 with Pogba tucking inside and Cuadrado pushing forward, while in defense it’s a flat 4-4-2 with the Frenchman still playing relatively narrowly. Although I understand Max’s choice given the circumstances, I’ve noticed one major issue with this setup: the left wing is ignored.Since Pogba basically has to play two positions (CM and LM), he will naturally play to his strengths which are in CM. Consequently, he drifts inside, the formation becomes too narrow, and the left back (Patrice Evra or Alex Sandro) is on his own on the left. Pogba has to cover a huge amount of lateral distance in this set-up, especially without the ball. While he still does a remarkable job combining all that defending with all that attacking, he cannot be in two places simultaneously. Evra fared very respectably against Bayern, but Allegri is asking a lot of the LB to play with limited defensive cover ahead of him, especially if a winger-fullback combination double-teams him, and a lot of Pogba to play two positions at once.Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde: Starter or Supersub? We’ve seen some fantastic stuff from Simone Zaza and we’ve seen some horrendous stuff from him. He’s started a few games, but has mostly made substitute appearances from the bench. His brilliant goal-to-minute ratio makes him an unpredictable joker option from the bench, but I just wonder: is that all there is to him then? His playing style certainly polarizes opinions. He mixes a rabid, almost possessed, way of harassing defenders ̶̶ reminiscent of Carlos Tévez’s amazing work-rate ̶ with the perpetual risk of obtaining yellow/red cards by flying into borderline-insane tackles (ála Vidal). So does Zaza offer enough extra, enough different, in his play compared to Dybala, Mario Mandzukic, and Álvaro Morata, to justify being more than just a supersub? I genuinely think that he has very useful skills to offer to the team- he has proven this- but sometimes it just seems that he does more running than thinking. If he can mix the method with the madness and achieve some balance in his play, he can surely be more than merely a supersub.Quote of the month:"Callejón has one of the most punchable faces if not THE most."By Jonathan Robin http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Mar 9, 2016 Sassuolo Coach Eusebio Di Francesco ‘hopes to find a distracted Juventus’ on Friday and doesn’t want Simone Zaza to play. The Neroverdi face the Bianconeri in the first Serie A clash of the weekend, shortly before Juve travel for their Champions League last 16 second leg against Bayern Munich. Di Francesco hopes the timing works to their advantage, but also wants former Sassuolo striker Zaza not to play as ‘I’m afraid of goals from ex-players.’ “I hope to find a Juve side that is distracted by Bayern,” Di Francesco said to Tuttosport. “I hope for that given that we’re going to play in the home of the best and strongest team, with a defence that hasn’t conceded for a long time. “The Golden Bench award? I voted for Montella but there’s no doubt that it was the right recognition for Allegri. “He knew how to continue in the best way with the work Conte started. It wasn’t easy or taken for granted after three extraordinary seasons, he was really very good. “The 2-2 draw in the first leg against Bayern wasn’t a favourable result but the Bianconeri team, with their potential, quality and mentality can go there to play. “Of course it’ll be a challenge but it’s not impossible. Also because Bayern are always strong but they aren’t the rock they used to be. “I hope Zaza doesn’t start. I’m always afraid of goals from ex-players. I know him well, he’s developed and improved again even though it’s never easy when you don’t play with continuity. “But when Simone has been called he’s always been ready to perform and score goals. “Getting points in Turin? Up until now we’ve played and won important matches against teams with great depth, we’re a team that prefers to play and always looks to have fun. “We hope that happens on Friday as well. We’ll have a few absences but we’ll try to play our game as always.” http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Mar 9, 2016 Sassuolo’s Nicola Sansone says playing Juventus is a ‘stimulating challenge’ and reveals why he swapped from supporting Inter to Milan. The 24-year-old scored a stunning free-kick to earn a 1-0 win for the Neroverdi at the Mapei Stadium when they met the Bianconeri earlier this season. They face off again on Friday evening in Serie A shortly before the Old Lady travel to face Bayern Munich, the team where Sansone spent his youth career. “My goals against the big teams? The motivation is greater,” he said to Corriere della Sera. “And also there’s more space, because the big teams have more possession. Now I’m just need to score against the two Roman teams. “Getting another good result against Juventus? Why not? In football anything is possible. “The ‘unbeatable’ Buffon isn’t an extra problem for us, Juve is a very stimulating challenge for the whole team, to see where we’re at. “The goal I scored against Juventus was the most special of my career, I’ve never struck a free-kick so well. “I’d like Juve to progress in the Champions League because they’re Italian. But I think Bayern will go through. “Was I a Milan fan after 5 May 2002? It wasn’t really on 5 May, but when I realised that Inter never won I changed teams. It was also because I loved Kaka a lot. “My role model is Frank Ribery, since I trained with Van Gaal’s Bayern. And as an idol, I’d say Roberto Baggio – I’ve even studied his free kicks on Youtube.” http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Mar 9, 2016 Former Milan Coach Arrigo Sacchi says the Scudetto isn’t enough for Juventus - “what counts is the Champions League”. The Bianconeri are aiming for a fifth title in a row this season, and currently sit three points clear of Napoli at the top of Serie A. However, despite Massimiliano Allegri’s side reaching the Champions League final last season, Sacchi believes they must show more on the European stage. “Juve are 10 years ahead of the others in terms of cohesion and competence,” the former Italy CT explained to La Presse. “They have a limited verbiage though. At Milan we had three: to win, to convince, to entertain. Juve have one: to win. “They’ll say ‘In Italy we keep winning’ and I’ll say Rosenborg always win the League title in Norway, but what counts is the Champions League, and Juve struggle in Europe.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Mar 9, 2016 Simone Zaza admits Sassuolo was “a turning point” for Juventus, as they prepare to face the Neroverdi again. Nicola Sansone’s free-kick condemned the Bianconeri to defeat in October, but Massimiliano Allegri’s men have won all but one of their Serie A games since that day. “It was a bad moment for us after that defeat,” Zaza admitted to Sky. “I still remember how the veterans [notably Patrice Evra and Gigi Buffon] made us feel it. From then on, I think it was unconsciously a turning point for the team. “Personally I remember ugly emotions from the game, but I must be honest, it was beautiful too as I saw my old club again. “So in terms of the team I think it was a turning point. “We’re doing well now, even when we don’t play our best we’re bringing home results, which is the most important thing. “Bayern Munich next week? Before Bayern we have Sassuolo, so we have to think about that test first. Of course, we know Bayern will be difficult, but certainly not impossible.” Zaza was also asked about Sassuolo Coach Eusebio Di Francesco, who has been linked with the Milan job. “I really can’t do anything but thank him, because he was important for my growth. “I’d say he’s already at a great club, because Sassuolo are really strong, but it’s normal that every player or Coach who does well aspires to a top club. “I don’t know what his future is, but I think he’s ready.” http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Mar 10, 2016 Swansea City manager Francesco Guidolin says Juventus are close to a ‘legendary accomplishment’ but tips Napoli to catch up. The former Udinese boss gave his opinion on the Scudetto and Champions League races in an interview with giornalaccio rosa dello Sport today. “Juventus are never satisfied - If they win 18 games out of 19, they’ve made a legendary accomplishment,” he said. “Their secret? The greatness of champions. In both individual and team sports, you need exceptional men to have the strength to finish one chapter and immediately open another. “Winning is difficult. Getting back to winning even more so. You need the capacity to increase motivations. In this respect Juventus are outstanding. “I was struck by Buffon’s words after the defeat to Sassuolo. And if they affected me from a distance, imagine what a shock they could have given to the dressing room. Buffon is a real leader. “Napoli are right on their tail and can profit from a distraction to get in a winning position. For me everything will be decided on the final stretch. “Roma are at a distance, but could still recover and bother the pair at the top. Spalletti is doing great work, you don’t win seven games in a row by chance. “The Champions League? It’s a duel between Roma and Fiorentina. “Inter are detached from the rest and in my opinion the table shows the real qualities of the game. Roma and Fiorentina deserve more. “The series of 1-0s raised suspicions of some difficulties in Inter’s game, now they’ve been confirmed.” http://www.goal.com/en-gb/tables/serie-a/13?ICID=SP_TN_127 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti
