Striker Alvaro Morata inspired Juventus to a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Bologna on Sunday.

The Spain international hit the back of the net for the first time in Serie A this season in the 33rd minute to cancel out Anthony Mounier's fifth-minute opener.

Morata also earned a penalty seven minutes after the restart when he was brought down by Bologna's Alex Ferrari in the area and Juve team-mate Paulo Dybala converted the spot-kick.

Morata then set up fellow former Real Madrid star Sami Khedira, who wrapped the victory in the 63rd minute. The outcome in Turin is only Juve's second league win this season.

Morata, who had scored in Wednesday's 2-0 triumph over Sevilla in the Champions League, had the first chance of the game in the fourth minute when he struck a diagonal effort which was saved by Bologna goalkeeper Antonio Mirante.

The visitors broke the deadlock one minute later.

Adam Masina's cross found Mounier in the box and he struck a left-footed shot past Juve keeper Gianluigi Buffon.

Juve pulled level when Khedira's cross took a deflection off Daniele Gastaldello and found Morata, who headed home from close range past Mirante.

Before the interval, Hernanes warmed the hands of Mirante with a stinging drive from 30 yards which the keeper saved.

The hosts went ahead when Dybala sent Mirante the other way while driving his spot-kick towards the left-bottom corner of goal.

Juve extended their lead after the hour when Khedira headed Morata's cross past Mirante to celebrate his first goal for Juve.

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri says his side’s performance was not faultless despite coming back to beat Bologna 3-1 at the Juventus stadium on Sunday.

The Bianconeri fell behind to Anthony Mounier’s early strike, but were able to turn the match around and secure just their second win of the league season.

“We did not start at the level we needed to defensively,” he admitted to Premium Sport.

“We tried to play offside for the goal, but it was not necessary.

“Morata had to be a lot more selfless, but we created enough to win, it is an important win in order to climb the table.”

However, the 48-year-old was not entirely happy with his side’s display.

“We must find the stability we have only seen in some games,” he continued.

“We have to have more patience and more speed in playing the ball as we got a little stretched in the first half.

“We need to regain energy and players, so it is not too bad that the international break arrives now because the Champions League saps energy.”

Despite his side’s brave display at the Juventus Stadium, Bologna coach Delio Rossi admitted that his side could not compete with their hosts.

Anthony Mounier gave the Rossoblu the lead, but the Bianconeri stormed back with three unanswered goals.

“The end result says everything,” admitted Rossi in his post game press conference.

“It was only Juventus that could have won. They got the ball forward and got the goals.

“I’m sorry, because we deserve to be in a different position, but we cannot change it.

“There is no shortage of personality in our team, but we cannot relate to Juventus because we do not have the same quality.

“I know there is another way,” he concluded, “but I prefer not to look at the table. We must show more than we have done so far.”

The defeat sees Bologna rooted to the bottom of the Serie A table and leaves speculation over Rossi’s future at the club.

Juventus forward Paulo Dybala spoke to reporters following his side’s 3-1 victory over Bologna and highlighted the importance of the match.

After conceding in the fifth minute to Bologna forward Anthony Mounier, the Bianconeri battled back for a 3-1 victory to record just their second league win of the season.

Dybala scored the victors second goal from the penalty spot after Alvaro Morata was pulled down in the box by Alex Ferrari in the 50th minute.

“We struggled a bit at the beginning; however, we did extremely well to react quickly in order to win a game that we needed the three points from,” Dybala told Mediaset Premium.

“I’m really happy with my performance and goal.

“I always give my best and always will.”

Despite his elated attitude, Dybala did suggest that his team still needs to improve.

“We are satisfied with the win, but we can’t always concede from the oppositions first shot on goal,” continued the Argentine.

“The penalty? I took it because the coach asked me to.

“It was supposed to be Pogba but in the end Allegri wanted me to take it. In any case, the team is united.”

1 G. Buffon - Could have done better with the opening goal, but was otherwise alive to any danger and relatively untested.

15 A. Barzagli - Should have picked up an assist for a great first-half cross, but had a steady outing. Wasn't pulled out of position at all.

19 L. Bonucci - Didn't struggle with the movement of Destro and was comfortable throughout the clash.

3 G. Chiellini - Shaky in the first half, with some nervy passing, but improved immeasurably after the break. Even went on some driving runs.

33 P. Evra - Made a couple of vital sliding tackles to deny Bologna breaks and also supported attacks to give Juve the width they required.

6 S. Khedira - Nodded home the third goal of Juve's evening and looked full of confidence and composure in the second half.

11 Hernanes - Kept things relatively simple, despite dragging a couple of poor shots well wide of the target. A steady performance.

10 P. Pogba - Full of energy and confidence when driving forward in midfield, but lacked a cutting edge. Saw some long-range shots charged down.

16 J. Cuadrado - Offered width on the right and lifted in a good cross to assist Morata's goal. His pace and determination helped drag Juve upfield.

21 P. Dybala - Caused problems in and around the box and slotted home a second-half penalty to put Juventus into the lead.

9 ÁLVARO MORATA - Nodded home a close-range header to make it 1-1, before winning a penalty in the second half. Whipped in a cross to assist Khedira.

83 A. Mirante - Made a couple of unorthodox saves and didn't look like the most safe pair of hands all night.

2 M. Ikonomou - Slid in to make a vital block late in the first half, but otherwise struggled to deal with the movement of Dybala and Morata.

28 D. Gastaldello - The captain lead by example, winning balls in the air and ensuring that the likes of Morata didn't have space to shoot from close range.

25 A. Masina - Put across some dangerous diagonal balls and stood up fairly well to Cuadrado's tests. One of Bologna's stand-out performers.

22 L. Rizzo - Didn't manage to support too many counter attacks from the visitors and wasn't able to kick start any breaks from deep either.

21 A. Diawara - Always wanted the ball, but did little other than just keep things short and simple for the away side.

5 E. Pulgar - Picked up a yellow card which affected his ability to get involved in the midfield battle in combative fashion.

23 F. Brienza - His passing was generally disappointing, with the attacking midfielder unable to link midfield to attack in a fractured second half.

10 M. Destro - Showed some intelligent movement and was constantly working hard, but didn't get the service required to test Buffon.

26 A. Mounier - Guided home a volleyed finish to give the visitors an unlikely lead. His pace and desire were a constant worry for the hosts.

At the tail end of July, Juventus coach Massmiliano Allegri introduced Alvaro Morata as a second-half substitute in the club's pre-season clash with Lechia Gdansk. Just 26 minutes later, he hauled the Spaniard off, disgusted with the striker's performance.

"Apart from the tactical errors, I didn't like his attitude," Allegri admitted. "Things didn't go his way and he stopped playing. That's why I decided to change him. I was angry with him."

That anger has long since subsided but Morata continues to occasionally frustrate the Bianconeri boss. Indeed, even though the former Real Madrid man turned in a man of the match-winning performance in Sunday's 3-1 defeat of Bologna, Allegri made a point of criticising Morata's decision to shoot on goal rather than square the ball for the unmarked Juan Caudrado while the game was still scoreless.

"Before their opener, we had a chance with Morata, who should have been more unselfish," the ex-AC Milan boss told Mediaset Premium.

It seemed harsh to single Morata out, given it was the Spain international who had done more than anyone to earn Juve their first home win of the Serie A season, with the 22-year-old netting the equaliser, winning the penalty from which Paulo Dybala put the hosts ahead, and then teeing up Sami Khedira for the clincher.

However, if Allegri is hard on Morata, it is only because he knows just how good the youngster can be. Indeed, it is worth pointing out that he has already scored more Champions League goals at the age of 22 than Cristiano Ronaldo. Yes, the Real Madrid man was a winger by that point in his illustrious career but his former Blancos team-mate has only secured regular first-team football since the turn of the year. And yet, Morata has already scored eight times in 20 appearances. Ronaldo, at 22, had managed just four goals in 35 outings in Europe's premier competitions.

In addition, Morata's strike in Wednesay's 2-0 win over Sevilla made him the first Juve player since Alessandro Del Piero to score in five successive Champions League games - a remarkable feat when you consider it includes the semi-finals and final of last year's tournament. Morata has already established himself as a man for the big occasion.

He has stepped up when Juve have needed him most this season, netting crucial goals against Manchester City and Sevilla, as well as inspiring the fightback against Bologna that has boosted the Bianconeri's hopes of a fifth successive Scudetto after a shocking return of five points from their opening six games.

Perhaps even more encouragingly for Juve, Morata also seems to be maturing; his "attitude" improving all the time. He looks to have the makings of a leader. He certainly wasted little time in taking Paulo Dybala under his wing.

After Juve agreed a transfer fee with Palermo for Dybala that could rise to €40 million, Morata sent the Argentine a text welcoming him to the club. They have been virtually inseparable ever since and the pair's strong bond was obvious against Bologna, with Morata agreeing to step aside and allow Dybala to take a spot-kick that he had earned himself.

"I haven’t been playing alongside Dybala for long," Morata explained in midweek, "but we have an excellent rapport and spend a lot of time together off the field too."

Replacing Carlos Tevez was never going to be easy but Morata, while hardly a like-for-like replacement, is showing that he is demonstrating impressive determination in dragging Juve out of this early-season slump.

There is still much room for improvement as far as Juve are concerned, with Paul Pogba's middling form a major cause for concern and the defence still prone to unusual lapses in concentration. But after undergoing major reconstructive surgery during the summer, the Old Lady is starting to look like her old self again. And Morata, after two inspirational displays in a week, deserves much of the credit for the recovery.

Juventus earned their first home win of the Serie A season by defeating a struggling Bologna side 3-1 at the Juventus stadium on Sunday.

Anthony Mounier’s opening goal for Bologna set the stage for another disappointing result for the home side, but Alvaro Morata’s equaliser before the break and two more goals from Paulo Dybala and Sami Khedira in second half earned the hosts just their second league win this season.

 

Juventus

Gianluigi Buffon – 6 – Bystander - Maybe should have done better in the situation for Bologna’s goal, which was in fact the only situation which required action from him.

Andrea Barzagli – 6.5 – Solid - Held his line well and did not allow the Rossoblu’s attackers to create additional threats after the goal, but several poor passes on his part discontinued promising attacks for his team.

Leonardo Bonucci – 6 – Average - Neutralised the few threats in his area without really being involved in the highlights.

Giorgio Chiellini – 6 – Unaware - Allowed Anthony Mounier to get behind him way too easily for Bologna’s goal and although he was solid for the rest of the match, his performance raised questions of the reliability of the Bianconeri’s defence this season.

Patrice Evra – 6.5 – Active - Another player with constant involvement in the match. Constantly threatened with crosses in the area and even had several opportunities to score in the first half, but did not have luck in front of goal.

Sami Khedira – 6.5 – Re-born - The German international made his first league appearance after being out with an injury for a long time and played a key role in the win, both defensively and offensively. Provided for Morata’s equaliser and sealed the win by scoring the third goal off the Spaniard’s cross.

Hernanes – 4.5 – Unnoticed - The most forgettable performance in Juventus’ midfield and logically substituted midway through the second half.

Paul Pogba – 5.5 – Irresponsible - Had numerous opportunities to show off his technical brilliance, but on several occasions tried to do too much and dispossessed the ball to the frustration of his teammates. Wasted a wonderful free kick chance in the second half.

Juan Cuadrado – 7.5 – Lightning-quick - His speed was a major concern for Bologna’s full-backs throughout the entire match. Set up several must-score opportunities for the Bianconeri forwards and made it much easier for Juventus to carry the ball upfield.

Paulo Dybala – 6 – Efficient - Made a crucial run to draw defenders and free Khedira, giving him the chance to time the cross that led to the equalising goal. Did not blink under pressure when taking the penalty and sent Mirante the other way to give his team the lead.

ALVARO MORATA – 8 – Man of the Match - Perfect positioning in the opposition’s penalty area to score the equaliser and to draw the controversial penalty in favor of his team. Had he been more clinical in front of goal, the scoreline could be even more resounding, but credit to Mirante as well.


Substitutes:

Mario Lemina – 6 – Silly - Involvement comprised of reckless tackles. One of them earned him a yellow card for the short time he was on the pitch and one gave Bologna a rare chance for direct attempt in front of Buffon’s goal.

Bologna

Antonio Mirante – 5.5 – Lone Warrior - Made some brilliant saves, especially in the second half to keep his team in the match. Had no fault for the conceded penalty or any of the goals.

Alex Ferrrari – 4.5 – Poor - Perhaps hard-done by in the penalty situation, but overall uncapable to deal with Evra’s speedy runs and Morata’s physical presence throughout the match.

Marios Oikonomou – 4.5 – Static - Did mark Morata in his penalty area, giving the Spaniard plenty of time to get a solid header for the equaliser and later did not put enough pressure on Morata, giving him all the time he needed to pick up Khedira for the third cross.

Daniele Gastaldello – 4.5 – Desperate - Produced several desperate tackles to halt Juventus’ attacking efforts and pulled out of the match shortly after picking up a caution as a result of one of them.

Adam Masina – 5 – Contrasting - Played in a brilliant ball for Mounier’s goal and helped Bologna create occasional chances up front, but helpless in his efforts to stop the Bianconeri defensively.

Luca Rizzo – 5 – Inexperienced - Also limited mainly to defensive functions, but could not use his speed to his advantage against Barzagli on the left flank when given a rare chance to advance.

Amadou Diawara – 4.5 – Missing - Unable to keep possession long enough to allow his teammates to organise a promising attack. Primary duties were to try to minimise the damage done by Pogba and Evra.

Erick Pulgar – 5 – Outplayed - Lasted only 70 minutes against the Khedira-Cuadrado duo and became one of five Bologna players who picked up yellow cards trying to halt one of the Bianconeri’s attacks.

Franco Brienza – 5 – Trying - One of the Rossoblu’s most active players, who was nevertheless neutralized by his counterparts in the midfield. Not clinical enough with his set piece services, which were supposed to be Bologna’s primary source of threat.

Mattia Destro – 4.5 – Wanted - Another forgettable performance by Destro in the Rossoblu’s outfit. Did not produce a shot on goal in 90 minutes and picked up a yellow card in a moment of justified frustration.

Anthony Mounier – 6 – Sneaky - Did well against Juventus’ experienced defence to make the most of his chance on goal and to give his team some hope. Involvement decreased when the Bianconeri took control of the match tempo.


Substitutes:

Luca Rossettini – 4.5 – More of the same - Created additional headache for his goalkeeper when he gave away a dangerous free kick opportunity at the edge of teh box. Luckily for him, Pogba wasted the chance.

Filippo Falco – 4.5 – Wasteful - Had a nice chance from a free kick to try out Buffon’s reflexes late in the game, but his shot curled away from the goal.

The Bianconeri were heading into this match with just one win so far from the Serie A season despite strong performances in the Champions League. Stephan Lichtsteiner, Claudio Marchisio, Stefano Sturaro, Roberto Pereyra and Claudio Marchisio were all out through injury while Martin Caceres was still suspended following a drink-driving incident last week.

Juve started the game strongly but it was the away side who went ahead after just 6 minutes when Anthony Mounier beat the offside trap to fire an effort under Gigi Buffon.

Patrice Evra headed wide shortly after, while Juan Cuadrado was menacing down the right flank, linking up well with Dybala who had his effort charged down.

The Bianconeri took hold of the game as the half progressed and Alvaro Morata bought them level, heading home from Sami Khedira’s perfect cross.

Morata had a number of chances after the restart, his best chance coming from a Cuadrado cut-back pass. His hard work paid off shortly after when he was bought down inside the box by Ferrari and Dybala converted from the penalty spot to put Juventus ahead.

Juve looked in control and man of the match Morata was on hand again to provide the perfect cross for an unmarked Khedira to head home at the back post.

With the result confirmed, there was a nice touch at the close of the game when Kwadwo Asamoah came on for the final minutes of the game. His first appearance this year in a Juve shirt.


5 Positives

1. Sami Khedira – A fantastic debut for the midfielder who showed in a week, exactly what Juve have been missing so far this season. Hard tackling, quick to get the team moving forward and he capped off his display with an assist and a goal on his first league appearance.

2. Paulo Dybala – Another fine display from the youngster. His free kicks were on target, his corners were perfect, he never stopped running and he converted cooly from the penalty spot.

3. Alvaro Morata – Man of the match ? A goal, an assist and a penalty won to earn Juve all three points. He’s starting to develop a good understanding with Dybala which means exciting times ahead.

4. Tactics – The same formation and the same lineup for two games in a row, and the difference told. Good work from Allegri to stick with a winning formula

5. Asamoah returns ! – It may have been just 90 seconds, but it was great to see Kwadwo back on the pitch. Here’s hoping he gets to make up for lost time.

The Bianconeri were behind within 7 minutes due to a Gigi Buffon error but Alvaro Morata bought Juve level in the first half with a fine headed goal. Juventus dominated the second half and Paulo Dybala put them ahead from the penalty spot before Sami Khedira sealed the result on his league debut.


Gigi Buffon 5.5 - Made an error for Bologna’s opening goal but was relatively untested afterwards.

Andrea Barzagli 6.5 - Played very well as the RCB/RB and adapted well to playing slightly further wide on the right. Ran the channels well, overlapped with Cuadrado and could have had another assist to his name. A great display.

Leonardo Bonucci 6.5 - Kept Destro quiet for almost the entire 90 minutes and looked relatively comfortably at the heart of defence, bringing the ball out from the back.

Giorgio Chiellini 6.0 - Didn’t have the best start and looked a little pressured at times when Bologna pressed high up the pitch. Better in the second half and improved as the match went on.

Paulo Dybala 7.0 - Immense workrate yet again. He never stopped running at the Bologna defence, forcing them into rash tackles. Stepped up to convert Juve’s penalty with a nice finish. 3 goals in the league so far and counting….

Alvaro Morata 8.5 - A sublime display – Headed home the equaliser before winning the penalty and finally provided the assist for Khedira to seal the result. Perfection !

Perhaps surprisingly, although much welcomed, Max Allegri decided to line up exactly the same starting lineup used for the midweek Champions League encounter against Sevilla, when things couldn't have worked any better in the favour of Juventus.

Same team, similar result. The Old Lady finally registered the first domestic win of the season at Juventus Stadium, but because of Bologna's early goal, it didn't come without half an hour of stress and what ifs. In the end, it turned out the red lantern of Serie A was only a sparring partner, as Alvaro Morata, Juan Cuadrado, Sami Khedira and Paulo Dybala ran the show for the hosts.

But besides the three points won, which magnificently propel Juventus all the way up to 12th position in the table, the best news of the day was without a trace of the doubt the return of Kwadwo Asamoah, who has managed to recover and — hopefully — put behind him the injury woes. And it wasn't just an ordinary return — he did it in astonishing manner, registering a perfect passing accuracy in the 30 seconds he was on the pitch. Welcome back, Kwadwo!

Although "back to winning ways" also seemed to be the case after consecutive victories against Manchester City and Genoa, before the team failed miserably in the company of Frosinone and Napoli, this time there has to be more truth in it. Not just because Juventus have managed another two wins in a row, but more because of the manner in which those victories came, namely complete and utter domination of the opponent. First Sevilla, now Bologna.

But before then, a two-week international break during which Allegri has a single job to do: Keep up the momentum and come back to the old good level of bossing Serie A.

MATCH SUMMARY

Morata wasted Juventus' first chance of the game in the fifth minute as he dribbled past his opponent down the left flank but instead of playing the ball for an unmarked Cuadrado, he tried to surprise Antonio Mirante with a shot at the near post. Useless.

It turned out to be a costly miss as, just a few seconds later, Juventus conceded. Adam Masina played a lofted ball behind the defence and Anthony Mounier was quick to take advantage of Giorgio Chiellini's poor positioning and volley the ball in. Buffon attempted the save but he could only parry the ball behind the line.

Morata missed another chance in the ninth minute when he connected with a ball from Dybala just outside the box and sent a first time shot that sailed wide of the left post.

Juventus besieged Bologna inside their own half in the following minutes, with crosses flying in from both flanks, although there was no end product.

Chiellini's attempt to redeem himself for the mistake at the goal conceded did nothing but to further annoy the home fans, as his right-footed shot from a long way out flew high in the stands just as the game entered in its 20th minute.

On the half hour mark, Buffon was quick off his line to prevent Mattia Destro from reaching a low cross from Mounier. It was the first time the visitors came close to threatening Juventus' goal after they opened the scoreline.

The pressure kept mounting on Bologna's defence and Morata deservedly equalized for the Bianconeri in the 32nd minute. Khedira found space once again down the right flank and his ball in was fortuitously deflected straight at Morata who headed the ball past a helpless Mirante from three yards.

Five minutes before half-time the assistant referee made a second grave error flagging Morata offside as he broke free one-on-one with Mirante, after making a similar wrong call against Cuadrado early in the game.

Juventus' siege was cramming all the visiting players inside their own box as referee Domenico Celi blew the last whistle of the first half, sending the two teams to the locker rooms.

The hosts imposed the same high tempo after the break and in the very first minute of the second half Khedira played a perfect long ball that found Cuadrado inside the area. The Colombian cut the ball back for Morata who, despite having all the time in the world at his disposal, inexplicably put the ball wide of the left post.

In the 51st minute, Morata won a penalty as Alex Ferrari brought him down in an aerial duel following a cross from Andrea Barzagli. Dybala stepped up to take the spot kick and made no mistake, sending Mirante the wrong way and coolly placing the ball near the left post.

Morata was once again at the centre of another chance for Juve, as he got past his man with a delicate first touch and forced Mirante into making a save at the near post. Little came out from the resulting corner kick, just as was the case with the previous ones in the game.

Juventus doubled their advantage in the 63rd minute as Morata returned the service for Khedira, finding the German at the far post with a sublime cross. The former Real Madrid midfielder placed a perfect header from six yards, scoring his first goal in the Bianconeri shirt.

Five minutes later, following a good ball through from Paul Pogba, Dybala saw his effort blocked by Mirante. Bologna managed to keep the deficit within sight, as Morata's follow-up was also cleared by the defence.

Cruise-control mode was easily enabled by Allegri's men, who had little problems in passing the ball around in the opposite half and keeping Bologna at safe distance from Buffon's goal.

By the time Celi blew the full-time whistle, the visitors lost even the very little interest they had in threatening Juve's backline and the notification "Scrambled channel" that persisted on bothering me throughout the game finally managed to drive me mad.

Buffon: 5 - Could have done better to prevent Bologna from scoring with their only shot on goal in the first half. Very little to do otherwise.

Barzagli: 7.5 - Effectively advanced in the opposite half every single time the opportunity arose. Perfect at the back.

Bonucci: 6.5 - Another clean performance. Very steady at the back whenever needed.

Chiellini: 5 - Poor positioning at the goal and a very shaky first half. Improved in the second part, but the harm was done by then.

Cuadrado: 7 - As active and lively as ever, taking defenders on at ease. Absolutely bossed the right flank.

Khedira: 8 - Supreme performance, creating Morata's goal and scoring one as well. Very often out of position creating superiority in attacks.

Hernanes: 6 - Decent display in the centre of the park, distributing the ball around with ease and also making the occasional surge forward.

Pogba: 6.5 - A solid match from the Frenchman who had little to do defensively and managed to play several useful balls inside the final third of the pitch.

Evra: 6.5 - Had very few problems defending on his side, spending the majority of the time in the opposite half. Good understanding with Pogba.

Dybala: 7 - Coolly slotted the penalty into the bottom corner. Often dropped deep to see more of the ball and created spaces. Started to develop a good chemistry with Morata.

Morata: 8 - Continued the good form from Champions League scoring his first Serie A goal of the season, assisting one and winning a penalty.

Napoli celebrated their biggest ever victory over Milan, home or away. The Rossoneri suffered their joint second worst home defeat in Serie A, after 1-6 Juventus in 1997 and another 0-4 to Inter in 2009. There were also 5-1 results for Inter in 1974 and Genoa in 1958.

Lorenzo Insigne celebrated his first Serie A brace, but he also scored Napoli’s first League goal from a dead ball situation this season after 14 from open play. Allan had one goal in 104 top flight games for Udinese, yet now has three in six for the Partenopei.

Insigne has had a hand in eight goals this term (scored five, assisted three), while Gonzalo Higuain netted five and set up two.

The Rossoneri failed to score in two consecutive Serie A fixtures for the first time since March 2014. They hadn’t fired blanks at San Siro for 11 home games, totalling 23 goals. This season the Diavolo lost all four fixtures in which they failed to score and have never overturned a losing situation.

Fiorentina had not been alone at the top of the Serie A table since 1998-99. The Viola had never previously won six of the first seven games in the top flight. In 2015, the Tuscans picked up 58 Serie A points, more than any other side. Lazio follow on 57, then Juventus 56, Torino and Inter 50.

Josip Ilicic has scored 10 goals in his last 11 Serie A appearances. Borja Valero celebrated his first strike of the calendar year.

Atalanta have played 20 League games under Edy Reja and received eight red cards. The Orobici’s last victory in Florence was 1-0 in January 1993, followed by six draws from 19 visits.

Both Fiorentina and Juventus have received three penalties this season without any awarded against them. Carpi gave away three spot-kicks, all of them converted.

After 70 Serie A games there has still been only one 0-0 draw, between Carpi and Napoli. No sides remain unbeaten and just Hellas Verona have yet to enjoy a victory. There have been 184 goals, an average of 2.6 per game.

Walter Zenga earned his first ever point as a Coach against former club Inter after three defeats. Ivan Perisic got his maiden Serie A goal at the fifth appearance. Mauro Icardi was actively involved in three of Inter’s last four goals, providing two assists.

Sampdoria midfielder Pedro Pereira became the youngest player in the top five European Leagues to provide an assist this season, aged 17 years and nine months. Inter are Luis Muriel’s favourite victims, as he’s put four Serie A goals past them.

The Nerazzurri hadn’t shared the spoils at Marassi since 2008. This result ended Samp’s perfect home record this season after three victories.

Miralem Pjanic scored the fastest goal of the Serie A campaign so far, clocked at 108 seconds.

Rudi Garcia had never previously beaten Beppe Iachini, picking up one point from two meetings. Roma’s last win at the Stadio Barbera was 1-0 in March 2012 and they managed only one point from their last three encounters with the Rosanero, home and away.

Gervinho has found the net in each of his last three games for the Giallorossi, home and away, something he hadn’t achieved since February 2014.

Sami Khedira scored on his Serie A debut, whereas he took 42 Liga games to find the net at Real Madrid. He became the first German to score for Juventus since Jurgen Kohler on September 11 1994.

Juventus have gone behind in five of the seven games this season, more than any other Serie A side. The Bianconeri have conceded with the first shot on target from Udinese, Chievo, Frosinone and Bologna.

For the third time in his Serie A career, Alvaro Morata scored and provided an assist in the same game. The Spaniard hadn’t found the net in the League since May against Inter, a five-round drought.

Bologna have lost their last five consecutive meetings with Juve, home and away, not winning since a 2-0 in Turin in February 2011.

Lazio enjoyed a sixth consecutive home victory in all competition. Keita Balde Diao broke his Serie A drought with the 14th attempt on goal this season.

Carpi made history with their first ever Serie A victory and did so on Coach Giuseppe Sannino’s debut. Despite the result, they had fewer shots on goal than in any of their other games, just seven.

Daniele Padelli is the only goalkeeper to have scored two Serie A own goals since 2012-13, as he also got on the scoresheet last season against Empoli.

Torino could’ve gone top of Serie A alone for the first time since February 1977, awaiting the Inter and Fiorentina results, but fumbled the chance.

Empoli kept a clean sheet after conceding in 10 consecutive rounds. The Neroverdi had previously found the net in all nine visits to the Stadio Castellani in all competition for a total nine goals.

Roma and Torino have scored nine goals in the second half, more than any other side.

This was the 15th Derby di Verona with six Chievo wins, four draws and five Hellas successes.

Hellas have fumbled nine points from leading situations this term, more than any other club. Remarkably, they are yet to concede in the first half, but leaked 10 after the restart. Verona’s last five goals were all from set plays, including one penalty.

Chievo are the only side yet to concede more than one goal per game. Lucas Castro found the net for the second home game running.

The Stadio Friuli broke two ducks, as Udinese got their first home point and Genoa their first away result. The hosts are still without a victory here since a 2-1 over Milan on April 25, but ended the club record run of six consecutive defeats.

Juventus, the Serie A and Italian Cup champions, had slumped to 15th place after opening their title defence with a home defeat against Udinese before being held in Turin by Chievo and newly-promoted Frosinone.

Combined with away defeats to Roma and Napoli, Allegri’s men made ther worst start to the season in over four decades, leading to speculation the Italian coach — who steered the Turin giants to last season’s Champons League final — might be shown the door.

Allegri only held on to his job, according to reports, thanks to Juve’s strong form in the Champions League.

With an away win at Manchester City (2-1) and a home victory (2-0) over Sevilla last week, the Bianconeri sit top of Group D with a three point cushion.

On Sunday, fans must have been fearing it was deja vu when Anthony Mounier’s strike rolled past Gianluigi Buffon in the fifth minute, although the ‘keeper’s blunder was plain to see.

But a superb header from Morata levelled the game on 33 minutes and, after Paulo Dybala’s 53rd minute penalty, Khedira wrapped up the points with his maiden league goal for the club 10 minutes later to restore fans’ belief.

Asked if the upcoming break for international football was unwelcome, Allegri said: “Absolutely not. We need to recover physically and recover some of our players because the Champions League robs you of energy.

“Thankfully we won our two opening games, now we need to find the same kind of consistency in the league.”


This was Juventus’ worst start to a season since 1968

Amid Juve’s darkest start to a season since the 1968-69 campaign, Morata has been a shining light for the champions, returning from injury recently and scoring for the fifth consecutive time in the Champions League last week against Europa League holders Sevilla.

Khedira, who had played only 25 minutes for Juve in a pre-season friendly with Marseille before hobbling off injured, returned to action against Sevilla and showed some great touches to prompt praise from Allegri.

“He’s world class,” said the Italian after Wednesday’s 2-0 home win over the Liga side, who bounced back to defeat Barcelona 2-1 on Saturday.

Allegri didn’t deviate from that opinion after Sunday’s win, when Khedira played his first full league game for the champions.

“At the start of the game he struggled to find the right position and rhythm. But he’s a world class player, he just needs time to find his condition.

“I think he’ll only get better.”

Juventus could remain 10 points behind leaders Fiorentina if La Viola account for Atalanta later Sunday, but Allegri — who still has striker Mario Mandzukic and midfielder Claudio Marchisio on the treatment table — refuses to hit the panic button.

“Thinking about our points deficit doesn’t make sense. We just have to knuckle down and start getting results,” he said.

“We’re missing the points we dropped at home, but we’ll take stock of things at Christmas. As far as the Champions League goes, the next month will be decisive.”

Juventus are next in action in Europe on October 21 when they await Bundesliga club Borussia Moenchengladbach in Turin.

Massimiliano Allegri believes Juventus' struggles are over and they can get their Serie A title defence back on track.

Goals from Alvaro Morata, Paulo Dybala and Sami Khedira sealed a 3-1 win over Bologna on Sunday, but only after the visitors to the Juventus Stadium had gone ahead through Anthony Mounier.

Victory was just the champions' second in the league this term, but Allegri is keen for his players to shake off any sense of panic.

"After falling behind we created a great deal this evening," Allegri said. "After our last two league games, we needed to get back to winning ways and start climbing the table.

"Now it's important for us to recharge the batteries, as the Champions League is an energy-sapping competition, and aim for consistency and stability on the pitch.

"Alvaro Morata should've passed it to Juan Cuadrado in the opening minute, then we'd be 1-0 up. We conceded a goal with the defence in place, which shouldn't happen.

"Having said that, we created a great deal and the thing we need to improve is our stability. We mustn't keep giving off the sensation we're struggling, as it's important to play with a sense of authority.

"At the end of the day it was a good game and we deserved the three points. We were just lazy on the Bologna goal, though."

Khedira marked his belated Serie A debut with a goal, having overcome a knee injury to make an impressive impact in Juve's midfield.

"Sami's an important figure for us," Allegri added. "He gives us international experience and hasn't regressed in these past six months. He’s a generous guy and a great pro."

Paulo Dybala is relieved about the Juventus win, but admits: 'We suffered hugely, though we've been unlucky till now'.

The Bianconeri may be seeing some light at the end of the tunnel as their 3-1 win against Bologna helps rectify their terrible start to the season.

“Yes, it was a hugely suffered victory,” he told the Press after the game.

“After conceding the goal, we had a bit of a difficult moment.

“You can't concede at the first chance like that. Then the team managed to do well without giving them anything, and it wasn't easy.

“We picked up three important points. We believe in the Scudetto race, certainly.

“In previous games we've been unlucky, that's all.”

It was pointed out to the Argentine that this was the fourth of his goals this season that resembled the style of former Juve striker Carlos Tevez.

“People have been asking me that, yes. I just try doing my best all the time.

“The penalty was the Coach's decision, Allegri told me to take it and I did.

“We're all united, and I'm enjoying the moment.

“Buffon? He asked me where I took the penalty, because he certainly didn't see it,” he joked, in reference to Buffon's habit of turning his back and looking away when his team is about to take a penalty.

At long last, Juventus won their first Serie A home match of the season and seem to slowly be recovering their edge, following Sunday's 3-1 win over Bologna.

Yet the team's unpredictability meant they were still forced to suffer in a match against a side that swiftly lost their desire as the game progressed.

Bologna arrived at Juventus with the intention to cause an upset. Confident and eager, it took them only five minutes to score a goal to stun Gianluigi Buffon and co. The stadium let out on big sigh. Lapses in concentration are becoming prevalent in the Bianconeri game but the real worry was that this side and their impressive stadium no longer intimidate their opponents; not even those who are accustomed to losing against the giants.

Yet the difference between Sunday's Juve side and the one playing in previous league games was confidence and control. Despite conceding, the Old Lady remained confident in their ability to overturn the result. Dominating the match and taking complete control, it was only a matter of time before the players found the equaliser and the subsequent goals required to take maximum points. Alvaro Morata, Paulo Dybala and Sami Khedira netted in the end to ease the tension following Anthony Mounier's opener.

Buoyed from the win against Sevilla in the Champions League prior to Sunday's Serie A victory, the team is slowly but surely recovering their identity. Confusion is slowly dissipating and much of that has to do with coach Massimiliano Allegri's decision to not change a winning formula. Deployed in a 3-5-2 formation, Juve's best XI started despite facing inferior opponents. Allegri resisted the temptation to rest players.

This time, the coach ensured he could not be accused of underestimating an adversary. By allowing players the opportunity to play together on a consistent basis, the team played with a little more fluency.

Had it not been for the presence of Khedira and Morata, this could have ended in another collapse. The former's experience and tactical intelligence has made all the difference in a team lacking chemistry and confidence while the latter's positioning ensures he's a reliable point of reference at the top, even if he could benefit from working a little harder in these unglamorous matches.

A champion who understands how to suffer and how to cope in various situations to ensure optimism, Khedira is the player Juventus have needed since the start of the season. His presence on the pitch elevated the performance of those around him to create a more fluid and intelligent game. Two games played, two games won and the German is not yet operating at full potential.

Morata may be a champion in the making but he is still not the answer to Juve's biggest problem -- their inability to finish off their scoring opportunities. Now, more than ever, this is a problem that must be addressed considering the fragility of a defence that is yet to recover its form and stability.

Juve had 19 shots on target that resulted in three goals, one of which was a penalty, yet Bologna needed only one chance to make the difference and take the lead. This is the downside of fielding only youngsters in attack; they can be the most talented players but inexperience robs them of the ability to consistently make the right choice in the final third.

Morata and Dybala are developing an interesting partnership but both need to learn from one another. The Argentine works hard for the team but lacks the ruthlessness required in front of goal while the Spaniard, wasteful on certain occasions, needs to understand the importance of playing for the team.

Time and continuity will teach the youngsters balance to allow them to better understand when they should pass, when to shoot and when to bring others into play. Had Carlos Tevez remained in Turin, the young forwards would have a received a better education by playing alongside him on the pitch, in much the same way Paul Pogba learned the art of being an effective midfielder from the likes of Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal.

Allegri can be happy, though. Bologna may have not presented the toughest of challenges but it's clear Juventus are growing into a more cohesive unit.

A great performance against Inter Milan when Serie A resumes will provide better answers as to what fans can expect from this new look Juve.

Juventus recorded a 3-1 win over Bologna on Sunday, the match providing the first home triumph of the 2015/16 Serie A season for the Bianconeri.

The team have struggled through the early rounds of the new campaign, but the past week—during which they also notched victory over Sevilla—appears to have seen an end to their woes.

That Champions League result came just a few days after a hugely disappointing loss to Napoli, and a closer look at the team sheet for each clash offers a number of hints as to how and why Massimiliano Allegri’s men have suddenly returned to form.

The matches against Sevilla and Bologna saw the Juve boss name an unchanged side for the first time this term, able to rely on the same men each time, and he was rewarded with two vastly improved performances.

Contributions from the likes of Sami Khedira and Andrea Barzagli cannot be understated, but on both occasions, it was Alvaro Morata who, rightly, grabbed the headlines.

Against the Spanish side, the pacey striker returned to the starting line-up for the first time since the meeting with Manchester City.

Just as he did at the Etihad Stadium, the 22-year-old found the back of the net, scoring in his fifth consecutive Champions League appearance to equal Alessandro Del Piero’s club record.

Morata could not hide his delight at a streak which includes both legs of the semi-final against Real Madrid as well as the final against Barcelona.

“Obviously doing what a legend of football like Del Piero has done in the past is a reason of pride for me,” Morata told the official UEFA website shortly after the final whistle. “I'm proud but I don't want to stop here. I want to keep working hard to help the team winning and to score more goals.”

“We haven't started the season well, but I'm sure we just need a bit of patience,” he continued. “Juve will be back. Personally I just want to work harder in order to start scoring in the league as well.”

This weekend at Juventus Stadium, he would do just that, netting a vital equalising goal after Bologna surprisingly took the lead. He would then win a penalty from which Paulo Dybala would hand Juve the lead, before Morata turned provider to lay on a third goal for Khedira.

Indeed, after thriving alongside Carlos Tevez last season, Morata is beginning to enjoy playing alongside Dybala, and the 21-year-old Argentinian was happy to praise his new team-mate in a recent interview with Sky Italia.

“I have a good relationship with Alvaro, because before I got to Juventus (he) wrote me a message saying he was glad I was coming here,” Dybala said, per Football Italia. “We’re working, because we’re young and we still have to grow. But he’s a player who has played for Real Madrid, he’s come so far and I think he can help me a lot.”

The link between Morata and his former club is a constant topic of conversation, with Real Madrid having the option to re-sign him in the summer of both 2016 and 2017, according to the official Juventus website.

Yet the player himself remains committed to the Bianconeri clause, a fact he reiterated to TuttoSport last week. “What can I say? Each time I score a goal, I'm reminded that the tifosi are afraid I'll leave them,” Morata said per Football Italia.

Sami Khedira believes Juventus‘ 3-1 win over Bologna was important for the side.

The victory moved Juventus up to 12th in Serie A, still 10 points off top of the table Fiorentina but Khedira is adamant Juventus can achieve great things this season.

“It was a very important win for us [against Bologna],” Khedira said on his Facebook page.

“The performance, however, was not perfect.

“We can achieve great things if we perform to our best,

“With the help of our fans we can do incredible things.

“Forza Juve!”.

Khedira was on the score-sheet against Bologna, which was his first goal for the club after only making his debut in mid-week in the Champions League against Sevilla.

Pavel Nedved sees Inter, Roma, Fiorentina and Napoli as Juventus’ potential Scudetto rivals.

The Bianconeri have started the season poorly, and currently sit 12th in Serie A after taking just eight points from seven games.

“Who can fight for the Scudetto besides Juventus?” Nedved considered in an interview with Sky.

“Those who are already up there. I’m looking at Inter, because they’re not in Europe, so they can play one game a week and that’s very important.

“Then obviously Roma have strengthened a lot. We’ve seen that there are other teams who could be great like like Fiorentina and Napoli, so you can’t rule anyone out this year.”

In his last game against Sampdoria, Coach Roberto Mancini turned to the 4-2-3-1 in the second half to fix the game, and Zaccheroni believes that should be the way forward.

“Mancini has the right men for a 4-2-3-1,” said the former Japan Coach. “He has the wingers, one of them is Perisic.

“The other is Biabiany, who is perfect because he has speed but also defensive skills. In Parma he even played as a full-back.

“Ljajic? He's more of a trequartista, but if he can adapt himself and find the continuity that he's always been lacking, he won't have problems in playing as a winger.

“He's more apt than Guarin, who can play on the right, but who is an atypical midfielder. He's the best at attacking from a distance.

“I think of Palacio and Jovetic as two second strikers.

“Jovetic can't play as a winger, much less in the 4-3-3. He can have an exchange with the striker through the central lines, but also play as a poacher himself.

“Felipe Melo and Medel would form a wall in the midfield, but I think it's best to have one of them alongside Kondogbia.

“With his long dashes, Kondogbia needs to have space ahead of him. Now he's having trouble, one ought to look at him in training to understand what he's thinking.

“Inter have a remarkable squad, but inferior to that of Juve and Roma.

The Brazilian sat down with Inter Channel to answer fan questions.

“I did receive some offers over the summer, but it wasn’t the right time to leave, as I knew I had more to give to Inter.

“I want to win with this team and I still have a long contract.”

Juventus may have to do without Paul Pogba for their clash with Inter Milan when Serie A returns to action next week, but Claudio Marchisio may be back in contention for a place.

Pogba returned to Turin on Thursday after a sprained ankle forced him out of France's international friendlies against Armenia and Denmark. He is to receive treatment from his club's medical team, although he is currently rated doubtful for the Derby d'Italia next weekend.

His place in the side for that game could be taken by Marchisio, who came through a full training session, including a warm-up match against amateur side Aygreville, on Thursday.

The Italy international has been sidelined since mid-September due to an adductor injury and missed their Champions League clashes with Manchester City and Sevilla.

His absence has seen coach Massimiliano Allegri forced to improvise with his midfield, with Hernanes and Mario Lemina both getting playing time.

Marchisio was the man earmarked to fill the Andrea Pirlo role following the veteran's summer switch to New York City FC and his return will come as a boost to the Bianconeri, who face an intense period of fixtures after the international break.

After travelling to second-placed Inter, they host Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League, and then welcome Atalanta to the Juventus Stadium four days later. Then follows a midweek trip to high-flying Sassuolo and the Turin derby, before they head to Germany to face Gladbach.

The Old Lady will then go to Empoli before the next break for internationals in November, by which time they will hope to have climbed from their current 12th position in the table.

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba should be fit for the Serie A clash with Inter after withdrawing from the France squad with a sprained right ankle, the club have confirmed on Friday.

Pogba returned to Turin on Thursday for treatment from the Old Lady's medical staff and after assesment's on Thursday, the club have indicated he will be able to return to action quicker than expected.

In a statement released on Juventus' official website, the reigning Italian champions said: "He is expected to be able to return to action in seven days’ time."

"The player was visited by the club’s medical staff, who confirmed the diagnosis made by their French counterparts."

Once the reports from France started coming about regarding his injury while on international duty this week, we figured Paul Pogba was at risk of missing some amount of time. We just had to wait and see what the official word was once he made his way back to Turin after withdrawing from the France squad two days ago.

Courtesy of Juventus' website, we have said diagnosis:

Paul Pogba has returned to Vinovo after withdrawing from France's national squad with a sprained right ankle.

The player was visited by the club's medical staff, who confirmed the diagnosis made by their French counterparts.

He is expected to be able to return to action in seven days' time.

Short, to the point, and depending on how you feel about Pogba's form these days, some pretty decent news considering the luck Juventus have had with injuries this season.

The 'seven days' time' diagnosis pretty much translates to Pogba being ready for next weekend's trip to the San Siro to face Inter Milan in the Derby d'Italia. Of course, regardless of the timetable established, that is a race against time knowing that we're basically eight days' time out from the first derby of the season, but I'm just pointing out the details of it all.

Either way, this injury isn't too serious or else Pogba would be out for much longer and then the collective freakout mode would be ratcheted up a few points on the 1-10 scale. And even if we're forced to wait to see Juventus' midfield finally — yes, FINALLY — at full strength, at least it will be happening during an important part of this early season. There's not just the derby next weekend, there's Champions League football shortly thereafter as well as plenty more chances to get back into the top third of the table and make everybody forget about this wretched start to the Serie A campaign.

So, rest up during your seven days away from the group, Paul Pogba. Don't make it eight or nine days. I think I speak for many folks who would like to see you do good things against Inter. And then some good things against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Say that three times fast.

Roberto Mancini saw his Inter side lose to Chiasso, but “there’s time” to prepare for the Juventus match.

The Nerazzurri went down 3-1 to the Swiss Challenge League side, though it was an experimental team, with many players off on international duty.

“The important thing is that Biabiany played 90 minutes,” Mancini told Inter Channel after the match.

“D’Ambrosio and Juan Jesus played 70 minutes, so for us that match is about that. The important thing is that those who haven’t been playing got to do so.
