The general manager spoke to Sky Sport Italia ahead of tonight’s Serie A match in Bergamo. Click here for the line-ups. “We must try to win every week regardless of what our rivals do,” he said of Roma’s 2-0 victory over Verona this evening. “We are in a period of the season where the results aren’t the only things that count, but also the performances. “I believe Juventus are called to pass a test in every game, regardless of how prestigious their opponents are. Atalanta are perhaps considered a provincial side, but they are very competitive and hard to beat.” Marotta was asked about Lazio President Lotito’s offensive comments, in which he mocked Marotta’s eyes. “I won’t comment because the phrases speak for themselves. I think there has been too much talk about it already and I prefer to discuss football,” he smiled.http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Sep 27, 2014 Carlos Tevez's two goals helped maintain Juventus' unblemished start to life under new coach Massimiliano Allegri in a 3-0 win at Atalanta on Saturday. The reigning champions made it five wins from five in Serie A this season as a double from Tevez and a first Juve goal for substitute Alvaro Morata made the points safe. It was not all plain sailing for Allegri's side, however, and in the end they were thankful to Gianluigi Buffon for keeping out German Denis' second-half penalty, which would have levelled things up at 1-1. After finally getting to grips with the midfield battle, the hosts edged ahead 10 minutes before the break when Tevez – fresh from being rested in Wednesday's win over Cesena – tapped in. Giorgio Chiellini hauled down Salvatore Molina to give Atalanta the chance to restore parity from the penalty spot in the 59th minute, but Buffon denied Denis and Argentinian Tevez then punished his compatriot's half-hearted effort less than 60 seconds later. From there, Atalanta never looked like mounting the comeback required and with seven minutes left Morata claimed his first goal for his new club since his close-season move from Real Madrid, nodding home to complete a comfortable win. Allegri had been keen to ensure that his players did not take Atalanta lightly in the build-up and the hosts certainly posed an early threat in Bergamo. On-loan Richmond Boakye, facing his parent club, did well to bring down a lofted ball on the edge of the area and Carlos Carmona lashed a half-volley just wide following the Ghanaian's lay-off. Chances were infrequent during a lacklustre opening, but things did begin to liven up as the half-hour mark approached. First, former Juve winger Marcelo Estigarribia shot across the face of goal in the 25th minute, before Marco Sportiello denied Tevez at his near post a few moments later. Juve eventually found the breakthrough in the 35th minute, and it came as no surprise to see Tevez get the goal. Fernando Llorente showed good awareness to play Stephan Lichtsteiner into the area and, after the Swiss defender's squared pass had squeezed through a group of players, Tevez was on hand to tap in. Juve should have added a second just before the break, as Llorente nodded Paul Pogba's sliced volley agonisingly over. After a slow start to the second half, the match once again burst into life just prior to the hour mark. Chiellini brought down Atalanta substitute Molina to concede a penalty in the 59th minute, but Denis saw his tame effort pushed away by Buffon and Juventus punished them almost immediately. Tevez received Patrice Evra's cut-back on the edge of the area and, although Sportiello got a hand to his effort, the Argentinian's attempt squeezed inside the post. Molina should have pulled a goal back for Atalanta in the 78th minute when he produced a clever first touch to cut inside Chiellini, only to blaze his shot well over from close range. Juve invited pressure on to themselves in the closing stages as they looked to catch their hosts on the counter. And their tactics paid off with time running out as Morata, on as a substitute for fellow Spaniard Llorente, nodded in Roberto Pereyra's chipped cross in the 83rd minute.http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

A goal in each half from the Argentinian striker and a debut goal from Alvaro Morata ensured the champions have five wins from five and no goals conceded. Tevez’s first goal gave the visiting champions the lead after a high tempo start which saw both sides squander possession on a regular basis. The goal came after 37 minutes when El Apache combined with Fernando Llorente, who found wingback Stephen Lichsteiner whose cross into the six yard box found Tevez to tap in from three yards out. The home side always looking to break wasted possession often whenever in the final third and went in at half time with only the one goal down. The second half continued in similar fashion as the Bianconeri dominated possession but the Orobici were handed a lifeline when Giorgio Chiellini was adjudged to have fouled Salvatore Molina. German Denis stepped up and his poor penalty was saved by Gianluigi Buffon, for which the home team paid the ultimate price. Just 20 seconds later, Juventus broke at the other and as Tevez squeezed a shot through the legs of defender Molina and past goalkeeper Marco Sportiello’s near post. Atalanta huffed and puffed without to much invention but Juventus always looked in control. One Spaniard replaced another as Llorente made way for Alvaro Morata. The young striker grabbed his debut goal when he nodded home a Roberto Pereya cross to cap off a comfortable win for La Vecchia Signora.http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The Argentine netted twice in tonight’s 3-0 victory away to Atalanta, scoring his second just moments after Buffon parried a German Denis spot-kick. The score was still 1-0 at the time, so the goalkeeper prevented an equaliser that could’ve changed the game. “We all know Buffon is great, the whole world knows it. After that we had to react and score straight away, which thankfully we did,” Tevez told Sky Sport Italia. He has scored six goals so far this season between Serie A and the Champions League, so will he be on target on Wednesday against Atletico Madrid? “Let’s wait and see, hoping it will be a good game in Madrid, which we want for the fans.” Juve and Roma are still locked together on a 100 per cent record after five rounds, but they go head-to-head next Sunday. “I think it is too early to say that it’s a two-horse race, as there are many games to go. It is a big game, but there’s too long to go before we can think about that.”http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Goals in each half by Carlos Tevez and a neat header by substitute Alvaro Morata kept up the Bianconeri’s 100 per cent record in Serie A this season as they join Roma at the top of Serie A on 15 points. A missed penalty on 58 minutes by German Denis for Atlanta was a turning point as Juventus went up the other end straight after and scored their second. Juventus dominated most of the night though, especially in midfield, where they overran Atalanta and fully deserved the three points.Atalanta Marco Sportiello – 5.5 – Busy Made a couple of saves early on put wont be pleased with his part in Juventus second goal as he should have done better.Davide Zappacosta – 5 – Caught Got forward early in the first half but was caught sleeping for the first Tevez goal as the Argentine ran past him to slot home.Guiseppe Biava – 5 – Average Kept busy all night by Juventus attacks and could have done better for second Juventus goal.Yohan Benalouane – 6 – Solid Was the stand out performer in the Atalanta defence, but thats not saying much, he made a few interceptions at vital times.Boukary Drame – 4.5 – Quiet Offered nothing going forward and let Stephan Lichtsteiner run past him on a few occasions.Marcelo Estigarribia – 5.5 – Faded Started brightly and had a couple of shots on Buffon’s goal but gave the ball away that nearly resulted in a Juventus goal, taken off just after half time.Daniele Baselli – 5 – Over Run Had a shot early on, but never got into the game, spend most of his time defending around the edge of the box.Carlos Carmona – 3 – Invisible Might aswell not have been on the pitch, headless chicken comes to mind.Alejandro Gomez – 5 – Muted Good play down the left in first half move and had a shot wide on half-time. The Argentinian opened the scoring in the 35th minute and doubled the lead in the 59th, but only after his goalkeeper had kept out German Denis' penalty. Substitute Alvaro Morata sealed the victory by heading home a third seven minutes from time. The three points kept Juve level on points with Roma at the top of the table, with the Turin giants still to concede a goal in the league this term. Tevez opened the scoring 10 minutes before half-time after good link-up play involving Fernando Llorente and Stephan Lichtsteiner. The Spaniard played his team-mate in down the right of the area and, as goalkeeper Marco Sportiello came out to close him down, Lichtsteiner dinked the ball over him and across the face of goal, with Tevez getting to it first to slam it home. The hosts were handed a way back into the match early in the second half when Giorgio Chiellini brought down Salvatore Molina. But Buffon read Denis' intentions and dived low to his left to push away his weak penalty. And Juve made Atalanta pay for that miss almost immediately. Tevez picked up the ball on the edge of the area, to the left of centre, and fired in a shot which squirmed inside Sportiello's near post. The keeper should have done better. Trailing by two, it looked like game over for the home side and Morata put the final nail in their coffin by powering home a far-post header in the 83rd minute.http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Sportiello - Many of his saves were fairly straightforward. Spilled a simple shot onto the post in the first half, and did not need to charge off his line so early on the first goal with Lichtsteiner coming in at a tight angle.22 D. Zappacosta - Sloppy defending and a scuffed clearance nearly gifted Juventus a second goal. Afforded Tevez and company far too much space on the left.20 G. Biava - Had all sorts of trouble with the physicality and eagerness of Tevez. Lost the Argentine after a quick Juventus move, allowing him to tap in unmarked at the far post.29 Y. Benalouane - Caught out a couple of times at the back with his lack of pace letting him down. Rash decision to slide at Lichtsteiner's pass took him out of the play, preventing him from breaking up the opening goal.93 B. Dramé - Did well for much of the match to limit the threat of Lichtsteiner, but the Swiss got the better of him to set up the opening goal.18 M. Estigarribia - Had arguably Atalanta's best chance of the first half, but firing just wide of the post. Did not provide much cover defensively, leaving Zappacosta isolated. Subbed off after 50 minutes.16 D. Baselli - Confident and courageous on the ball. Did not shy away from running at the opposition, winning a number of free kicks. His passing from a deep lying role in midfield was also strong.17 C. Carmona - Tireless running allowed him to contribute at both ends of the pitch. Not clinical enough on the ball, however, and was a bit selfish at times. Still looked one of the bigger threats going forward.10 A. Gómez - Failed to trouble the Juventus defence very much, although he provided some much needed defensive support. Subbed off after 75 minutes.99 R. Boakye - Faded in and out of the match, showing some clever vision at times, but carelessly giving it away as well. Could not threaten the Juventus goal and found no way past Bonucci or Ogbonna.19 G. Denis - Had an incredible chance to pull his side level from the spot, but could not beat Buffon with his penalty. It was his only real chance of the match as he never saw much of the ball in attack.Substitutes21 L. Cigarini - Put in some good work in midfield, although he would have liked to have more time in attack.31 S. Molina - Had a few promising attempts on target, but never forced Buffon into making a save. Juventus 1 G. Buffon - Did not have a ton of work to do, but guessed right and got across incredibly well to keep out Denis' penalty, preventing the hosts from drawing level.5 A. Ogbonna - Very sound performance at the back, while winning nearly every ball in the air. A number of important clearances helped keep the clean sheet in tact.19 L. Bonucci - Did not see nearly as much of the ball as he is used to, but performed his defensive duties well.3 G. Chiellini - Was lucky not to bring Juventus' clean sheet streak to a halt, conceding a penalty with the game still 1-0. It was a harsh decision, but an unnecessary tackle from the defender nonetheless.26 S. Lichtsteiner - Looked ever so lively down the right, setting up the first goal and creating a number of chances at the match went on. Proved a real menace to deal with.23 A. Vidal - A bit careless in possession at times, but looked a real threat with his shooting ability. Never afraid to have a go at goal, testing Sportiello on a few occasions. Moved the ball well up to the strikers.8 C. Marchisio - Atalanta made a point of taking Marchisio out of the game, which limited the midfielder's impact on the match. Smart in possession, and worked some nice one-two moves with the strikers.6 P. Pogba - Very aggressive in midfield, which allowed him to create a number of turnovers. Passed it about nicely and made some great runs into space. Had a number of shots, but could not find his goal.33 P. Evra - Assisted the second goal with a simple pass to Tevez who did most of the work to finish it off. Contributed well in attack, while having a relatively quiet day at the back.10 C. Tévez - Looked incredibly dangerous from the first minute to the second he came off. Involved in nearly every move, finally got his goal after 35 minutes, and doubled his side's lead with a tidy shot after an hour.14 Llorente - Eager to get into the attack, but Juventus kept the ball on the ground for the most part which did not play into his strengths. Got on the end of a couple of chances but lacked a good finish.Substitutes37 R. Pereyra - Came on and looked a threat right away. Lovely cross to assist Morata's goal.9 Álvaro Morata - Made a lovely run into the area to get on the end of a cross and head home for his first Juventus goal. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

We prepared it well tactically, attacking Bonucci and Marchisio. “It might seem strange that I’m talking about a fine performance after losing 3-0, but we tried to take the game to Juventus and believed in our chances. “I don’t know why I was sent off. I was getting angry with my own player, Drame, and perhaps the referee misunderstood.” The Orobici have now lost three on the trot against Fiorentina, Inter and Juventus. “We have to improve in attack, as once again we put the ball in the box and created chances, but haven’t scored for three rounds. Admittedly, we were facing three teams that were decidedly stronger, but I am happy with the attitude of the team. “I would’ve been annoyed if I had seen my players sit back, invite Juve forward and set up a wall, but the 3-0 really doesn’t reflect the result.”http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

It wasn’t easy, as Atalanta are particularly strong on home turf,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia. “We struggled in the opening 10 minutes and didn’t clear the ball properly, so we tended to be caught out. The lads did well, then Buffon was decisive for the result.” Buffon saved a German Denis penalty when it was still 1-0 and moments later Carlos Tevez added a second goal. “I think the difference between Buffon and all other goalkeepers is that he can barely be tested throughout the game, yet still come up with the decisive save when he’s needed. That’s how you can tell a real champion. “I rested Pogba midweek and Vidal needs to play in order to find his form. Morata did very well when he came off the bench and even scored, so there’s a fine team spirit throughout. “Our tactics also depend on how the opponents come towards us, as we can start moves with a four-man defence or three. “We defend better away from the goal than close to it, which isn’t easy and requires a lot of concentration. There were times tonight when we defended with five, as the team was fatigued and we had to lower our energy output during that spell. “We have quite a solid back line, but that’s also because the forwards work to help out. I don’t think we can go at 100mph every moment of the match, so there are times when you need to slow the tempo.” Allegri was asked whether Tevez was just as important to Juventus and Zlatan Ibrahimovic was for his Scudetto-winning Milan. “Tevez is truly proving all his worth, scoring goals, creating them, working hard, sacrificing himself for the team and dictating the tempo. “Is he like Ibrahimovic was for Milan? They are different players, but they share that constant desire to win. Tevez gives the team a big hand during times of difficulty.”http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Sep 28, 2014As soon as Nicola Rizzoli blew the final whistle to announce Juventus’ success over AC Milan at San Siro last week, there was a word in every Juventini's mouth: ROTATE. With the toughest week thus far fast approaching, which includes an away Champions League fixture at last season’s runner-up Atletico Madrid and a home match against Roma, Max Allegri had to make sure players will boast the energy needed to get well past what could be described as two season-defining matches. Therefore, Allegri decided to make two changes to the side that beat Cesena 3-0 on home ground on Wednesday: Paul Pogba regained his place in the starting XI, as Roberto Pereyra was on the bench and Carlos Tévez, who was rested against Cesena, replaced Sebastian Giovinco. Stefano Colantuono included in his side’s first XI former Juventus player Marcelo Estigarribia, as well as, according to recent reports, possible future Juventini Davide Zappacosta, Richmond Boakye and Danielle Baselli.Knowing Juventus were unbeaten in Bergamo, in Serie A since 2001, when a team boasting the likes of Zidane, Davids, Montero, Inzaghi and Del Piero somehow succumbed to defeat, morale was high through the players’ ranks. After becoming the first team in Italian history to win the first four matches of the season without conceding a single goal, Juventus were looking to continue in the same fashion and extend this record, so Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia seemed like the perfect venue for the achievement.Juventus managed to win the game more comfortably than expected but there was desperate need for a moment of magic from club captain and living-legend Gianluigi Buffon, who saved a penalty taken by German Denis when the score was still 1-0, paving the way to victory and keeping a fifth consecutive clean sheet. The stars seem to favour the Old Lady so far, in what has been one of the most exciting starts of the season from recent years; one that lays ahead two big challenges for a team flying-high.MATCH SUMMARYA cagey start of the game made us wait until the 17th minute to have the first good scoring chance. Patrice Evra’s cross at the far post was headed back in by Fernando Llorente for Pogba who managed to control the ball with his back at the goal and lay it for Tévez’s shot, but the whistle came for a fault in attack.Juventus were attacking as usual with the centre backs in the opposite half, as Atalanta preferred to sit back and defend on two lines, putting 10 men behind the ball. Tévez managed the first shot on target on the half hour mark, but he didn’t really test 22-year-old goalkeeper Marco Sportiello. Shortly afterwards, some good link-up play from Vidal, Llorente and Evra put the Frenchman in a great position for a cross, but his low ball at the edge of the six yard box reached nobody.Eventually, the inevitable happened. In the 35th minute, Llorente found some space right outside the penalty area and played a great through ball to the onrushing Stephan Lichtsteiner who chipped it back nicely past Sportiello, leaving Tévez with the simple formality of tapping the ball in. After taking the lead, Juventus controlled the game until the break, giving Atalanta no opportunity to threaten.Shortly after Orsato blow the whistle for the start of the second half, Stefano Colantuono made an inspired substitution by replacing Estigarribia with Salvatore Molina. The latter was brought down in the box by a clumsy Giorgio Chiellini after almost an hour of football, leaving referee Orsato no choice but to point to the spot.It was the key moment of the game, as Gianluigi Buffon brilliantly dived to his left to save Denis’ penalty. Right at the next action, Tévez received a ball just outside the box from Evra and placed a low shot at the near post, beating Sportiello, scoring his second brace of the season after the one managed against Malmo in Champions League.Juventus were in complete control from that moment, as a demoralized Atalanta tried to make up for Denis’ mistake and grab a goal, but in this way, leaving space at the back. Tévez was close to a hat-trick 10 minutes later, but the Argentine couldn’t quite control his 10-yards-volley and the ball arrived safely in the hands of the goalkeeper. In the 83rd minute, substitute Álvaro Morata scored his first official goal for the Old Lady. A wonderful through pass from Tévez found Pereyra in the box, who had time to prepare his cross for Morata and the Spaniard headed the ball in past Sportiello. It was a brilliant move from Juventus — the icing on the cake. The away side had no problems protecting the result in the final minutes and ensured the 100% record so far in Serie A, without conceding a goal.LE PAGELLEBuffon: 8 – Wasn’t called into action at all in the first half, but showed his class once again, making the match-winning save on Denis’ penalty.Ogbonna: 7.5 – Solid performance defensively. Was unbeatable in air and made some good interceptions and clearances. Also advanced with the ball when space was available.Bonucci: 7 – Won most of his aerial duels and played confidently. Wasn’t involved in the game when Juventus had possession as often as usual, so there were no trademark long balls from him.Chiellini: 6.5 – Advanced whenever possible in the opposite half trying to help the build-up play, but was really negligent to concede the penalty as there wasn’t any real danger.Lichtsteiner: 7.5 – Unstoppable on the right flank, always making runs behind the defenders. Played a neat ball back inside the box to assist Tévez first goal.Vidal: 6.5 – Wasn’t as influential as usual but considering his great performance from Wednesday, this was somehow expectable. Replaced after 70 minutes by Pereyra.Marchisio: 7 – Brilliant defensively but had no space to dictate the play as Boakye man-marked him. Got booked but it was a good performance overall from him.Pogba: 7.5 – Another powerful display from the Frenchman. He was involved in all the attacking actions of Juventus, sometimes taking Marchisio’s role of passing the ball around. Very good at cutting Atalanta’s attacks, as he was the player with the most tackles (5).Evra: 7 – Had a shaky start but steadied his game eventually. Made a few key passes and got an assist at Tévez’ second goal.Tévez: 9 – The Apache was once again man of the match – absolutely brilliant. Came back deep to get the ball and assure the game was flowing. Scored the first goal with a simple tap-in but got his second with a well-placed shot at the near post.Llorente: 7 – The Spaniard was again in the target-man role. Played an important part in the first goal as he opened up Lichtsteiner with a through ball in the box. Replaced with Morata after 67 minutes. Subs:Morata: 7 – Only played the last 25 minutes but it was enough for him to get his first goal for Juventus: great header from just outside the 6-yard-box. Was also involved in a few individual actions but with no effect.Pereyra: 7 – Replaced Vidal and linked perfectly with the rest to control possession, as Juventus were looking to hold on to result. Played a perfect cross for Morata’s goal.Coman: N/A – The Frenchman replaced Tévez late in the game and had no time to make an impact.Coach:Allegri: 7.5 – Juventus won the game in great style, dominating possession and breaking the opposition’s defence. But the coach deserves credit for his selection, as a fully-rested Tévez came back in the starting XI to run the show for the defending champions. Introducing Pereyra and Morata, who combined perfectly for the Spaniard’s goal, was a very inspired move, which also ensured Vidal gets some rest before the Atletico clash. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Sep 28, 2014 Juventus striker Carlos Tevez has rejected suggestions this year's Serie A race will be fought out by just two clubs. The Old Lady extended their 100 per cent Serie A record with a 3-0 win at Atalanta on Saturday, with Tevez scoring twice in their fifth consecutive Serie A victory. The result leaves them joint-top of the table with title rivals Roma, but Tevez believes other contenders will emerge as the two prepare to face-off next weekend. "I think it is too early to say that it's a two-horse race," he told Sky Sport Italia. "There are many games to go. It is a big game, but there’s too long to go before we can think about that.” Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon also saved a penalty on a day Roma triumphed 2-0 against Hellas Verona. “We all know Buffon is great, the whole world knows it," added Tevez, Serie A's leading scorer with four goals. "After that we had to react and score straight away, which thankfully we did."http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Is Serie A becoming boring considering no side can even score against Juventus, with their fluidity, technique and wonderful patience? Ah, but Atalanta had their chance. Awarded a penalty, German Denis stood in front of goal seeking to be the first to score against the Bianconeri this season. Dispatching the tamest of shots, Gianluigi Buffon saved, and within a minute, Juventus scored their second of the night. Are they simply lucky, too intimidating or is the Old Lady so far and beyond almost all the teams in Serie A that barely anyone can annoy let alone terrify her? One must compliment the Orobici for their courage and determined character. Unlike certain other sides that face the Bianconeri with a defeatist attitude as evidenced by their negative tactics, Stefano Colantuono fielded a side that was offensively ambitious and well balanced, allowing the team multiple routes to goal. Pressing with intensity and showing great desire to win the ball in order to create their own opportunities, they attempted to match Juve's energy levels and worked impressively hard in the first half. Sadly their quality in the final third isn't at the level required to penetrate a tough Juve backline, even one that has its weaknesses. After so many years playing together and under the tutelage of their new coach who only seeks to fine tune the side, Juventus are practically unbeatable. The most beautiful characteristic of Massimiliano Allegri's side is their willingness to retain possession in the final third. Still guilty of forcing the issue at times, it's clear the side is developing steadily, taking the time to make intelligent decisions when they have the ball. Allegri has worked hard on suppressing that urge to shoot from distance, asking them to keep the ball, rotate it and exploit the gaps that open up. His instructions are being followed and Juventus look more dangerous now that they understand the benefit of patience. Possessing an opportunistic outlook and a character that is happy and confident in the fact that chances will arise, they know that simply applying a little pressure will eventually provoke an error or expose a gap they could then exploit to devastating effect. Allowing the home side their chance to shine, Juventus waited until halfway through the first half before they increased the intensity and pushed forward with greater determination in order to dominate. There was only so long before Atalanta would surrender to the pressure. A move that combined Fernando Llorente's great link-up play, Stephan Lichtsteiner's ability to breathe life to the tactics and Carlos Tevez's opportunistic efficiency ensured Juventus scored the opener and confirmed their status as the best in Italy. There is no better side in the Peninsula when it comes to scoring a team goal. The innate understanding between the players, the willingness to include everyone and the wonderful runs from midfield make Juve the side that dazzle. Had Denis scored the penalty, Atalanta, at least on a psychological level may have felt confidence in their ability and in their game strategy. Instead, Buffon's superb ability to spread himself robbed the Orobici of the faint belief in themselves, leaving them broken. So much so that 34 seconds later, Tevez scored again to make it 2-0 to make it the most depressing minute of Atalanta's season so far. It was hard to recover after that and Allegri took the opportunity to give Alvaro Morata some time on the pitch and the Spaniard didn't disappoint. His desperation to make an impact may have still been evident but so was his technique, producing a wonderful header to secure a 3-0 result. Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera summed up the game beautifully and succinctly, owing the victory to Juve's two champions. "To play you must have 11 players but two are essential. If you have them you are halfway there. A great goalkeeper who saves and a great striker who scores." Take a bow Buffon and Tevez. The Argentine especially has made the fans forget the days when the team created and created but squandered consistently to frustrate all who watched. Will those two be enough against an Atletico Madrid side that scored four against Sevilla? At least Juve's patience and bolstered squad will ensure they provide a challenge.http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Sep 28, 2014It's been a bit of a roller coaster ride for Juventus fans in the last couple of decades. In the early 90s, the era of the all-conquering AC Milan side, Juve played second fiddle to that team as they quietly built a dynasty of their own, culminating in the two Champions League finals. Since that time, apart from the 2002-03 final with the aforementioned Milan side, Juventus have not approached the heady heights of European glory. In that duration, the Old Lady unfortunately had to plumb the depths of the Serie B before they endured the two years of seventh place finishes in the Serie A. It was only after Antonio Conte took over that Juventus finally regain its sole status as is Italy's football superpower. However, Conte's inability to take the club to the higher echelons in Europe possibly led to his leaving the club. The Coppa Italia is another piece of silverware in Juventus' impressive trophy cabinet, but the last of nine trophies came way back in 1995, and they have since lost in three finals as well. While not very high on the list of priorities every season, fans still remain vested in the club's success in this tournament.Despite the three straight campionati however, some Bianconeri fans still expressed dissatisfaction - Juve have been the big fish in the small pond of Serie A, but have not made any waves in the Champions League. So with that in mind, here is this week's question for you -"I will judge this season successful if Juventus ________ ."So let's hear your opinions, what do you need to see to call this season a successful one for Juventus under Massimiliano Allegri? http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/49/uefa-champions-league/group?ICID=MP_TN_166 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Socrates 8516 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 134570 messaggi Inviato September 30, 2014 ATLETICO MADRID - JUVENTUS - Wednesday, October 1, 2014 - 08:45 P.M. Estadio Vicente Calderón - MadridReferee: Felix Brych (Germany) Talkin' tactics: How might Juventus deal with Atlético Madrid on Wednesday night? Sep 30, 2014 Juventus have enjoyed a remarkable start to their domestic campaign, but a trip to the Vicente Calderon should be classified as the Bianconeri's first real challenge of the season. Ultimately, there was a role reversal between the two domestic league champions last season — Juventus was tipped to mount a legitimate knockout round run, whereas Atletico's small squad was expected to encounter difficulties challenging on both fronts. The Spanish champions, though, were seconds away from claiming an historic league and European cup double, while Juve crashed out of the competition in the group stage, and then failed to make the final of the Europa League competition which was being hosted at the Juventus Stadium. Juventus' return to the Spanish capital is significant regarding the shape of the group. Atleti must claim maximum points following a Matchday 1 loss to Olympiakos, whereas Juventus can build a solid platform with a second consecutive European win. The tactical battles should be straightforward, as Juventus will likely dominate possession and Atletico will likely press Massimiliano Allegri's midfield from the opening whistle. The contrast in possession stats is vast between the two sides: Juventus' 63.7 percent leads Serie A, whereas Atletico currently sit in 15th in that respect, as the Spanish champions maintain 46.5 percent. Both sides have undergone slight makeovers in their squad with Atletico, in particular, losing Diego Costa, Thibaut Courtois, and Filipe Luis — a player who scored over 35 percent of the club's goals last season, arguably the best young goalkeeper in the works, and the best left-back in La Liga. Diego Simeone's efficient transfer activity has ensured Atletico have filled those positions, but apart from goalkeeping, the gulf in quality is evident. The core of last year's squad remains, but Simeone will have major selections to make regarding his attack. Mario Mandzukic is certain to start the match up front, but Simeone can call upon Raul Garcia's aerial threat, the pace of Antoine Griezmann, a second target-man in Raul Jimenez, or adopt the 4-1-4-1 formation utilized against Sevilla to avoid being overloaded in midfield. Garcia and Griezmann are the likely choice to form an attack with Croatian, with the former likely to start considering Atletico's difficulties creating chances from open play. Costa's departure has destabilized Atleti's attack from open play, but the club's efficient execution from set pieces remains a vital component to the club's ethos, scoring 10 of their last 12 goals from these situations. Garcia would further increase that threat, attempting to leap over Patrice Evra or Kwadwo Asamoah — like he did last year against Jordi Alba and Cesar Azpilicueta — to convert long diagonals into the box. Equally, as witnessed against Milan, Juve's defence is still susceptible to pace, and Griezmann is also a logical option up front, or at some point in the match if Atletico require a goal. The rise of Saul Niguez over recent weeks may also see Simeone pack the midfield, thus leading to a combative battle against Juventus' powerful midfield. Likewise, the lack of pace in the Italian champion's attack could see Atletico press higher up the pitch or maintain their midfield press. Atletico remain organized and compact in both variations of pressing, and Simeone's decision may not only determine the pattern of the match but also impede a Juventus attack that appears heavily reliant on Carlos Tévez. Stylistically, Allegri hasn't tinkered with the successful formula created by predecessor Antonio Conte. Juve are unbeaten in all competitions this season, have yet to concede a goal, and Tevez broke his five-year goal drought in the Champions League, scoring twice against Malmo — put simply, everything is falling into place. Considering Juve's success this season, Allegri may be hesitant to stray away from a 3-5-2 that presents very few selection issues. Despite Fernando Llorente's underwhelming start to the season, the Spaniard will likely start ahead of compatriot Alvaro Morata. Claudio Marchisio has thrived in the absence of Andrea Pirlo in a deep-lying role, providing reliable passes and improved defensive protection of the back three. The Bianconeri's most recent fixture against Atalanta, however, saw Richmond Boakye stifle the Italian for majority of the match, which limited Marchisio's influence and Juve's creativity. Atletico tend to drop into two banks of four without the ball with the forwards alternating turns pressing the deep-lying playmaker, and Marchisio may encounter identical issues at the Calderon. The real issue Allegri's men may face lies in the organization and tireless work-rate Atletico possess without the ball, and Tevez's role as Juve's sole creative source in the final third. The caution displayed in European games have limited the Argentine's influence in recent years, and with Atletico working as a unit to limit space between the lines, the striker may encounter another difficult night in Spain. Tevez often drops deeper into midfield in search of pockets of space to either run at defenders or slide incisive passes behind the defence. Juventus' win at Atalanta perfectly illustrated his significance to Juve's attack. It was Tevez's initial ball and unmarked run into the box that led to the opener, and a strike from outside the box doubled Juve's lead in the second half. The third goal, though, highlighted his creativity — the forward dropped into space in the right channel and played a delicate ball behind the defence, and into half-space for Stephan Lichtsteiner, thus leading to Morata's first goal for the club. Allegri will also have to decide between Evra and Asamoah at left wingback. While the former appears to be favoured by the Juventus manager, his defensive deficiencies could see the reliable Asamoah return to the XI. With Koke and Arda Turan admirably protecting their full backs before storming into attack with clever combination play, Juve requires cautious wingbacks. Equally, Koke and Turan's tendency to overload the flanks, along with the adventurous Juanfran and Cristian Ansaldi could pose several threats in wide areas. Nonetheless, this is expected to be a tight physical encounter between two unbeaten champions, but there's still a concern as to where the goals will come from. Juventus still appear too reliant on Tevez to provide creativity and goals, whereas Atletico's threat from open play has diminished since Costa's departure. More so, the first goal of the match is significant. Atletico is capable of dealing with excessive pressure and holding onto a lead, whereas if Juventus scored first, Simeone's side would be faced with the task of scoring twice against a side that has yet to concede this season. Perhaps Tevez's brilliance and Atleti's imperious set-piece execution will make the difference, but this has all the ingredients of being a physical, yet cagey European showdown between two defensively astute sides.http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/49/uefa-champions-league/group?ICID=MP_TN_166 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Estadio Vicente Calderón - MadridReferee: Felix Brych (Germany) Juanfran: Juve great, but… Sep 30, 2014 Juanfran Torres admits that Juventus ‘are a great team’, but says so are his Atletico Madrid, who ‘have to win’ tomorrow evening. Wednesday night sees last year’s Champions League runners-up host the Bianconeri at the Vicente Calderon in need of first points in this year’s group stage, following defeat to Olympiacos. “We cannot fail, we have had the one stumble in the Champions League and two almost eliminates you, or hinders making it through,” Juanfran has reflected this week. “What is important with this team is that when things are more difficult, they compete better. We know that we have to win. “This is one of the best teams in Europe so the team will be amazing and I am convinced that we will win. “Juventus are a great team, very complicated, whilst the Champions League is special. We go into this with the mentality always to win, and I am sure that if we can play a great game as we did the other day [in La Liga] then we will win.” The Spain international still paid respect to Juve, running through their line-up. “They have many players who could be among the best in Europe. They have a great goalkeeper, who is very experienced. The line of three centre-backs and the attacking full-backs. “The midfield is very strong and has quality. In attack, there is the great form of Tevez, who scored twice [in the previous match with Malmo], whilst the Spanish they have are very good too. “The truth is that they are a great team. Atletico Madrid fans who are lucky enough to come to the stadium will see a big game because this will be between two great teams.”http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/49/uefa-champions-league/group?ICID=MP_TN_166 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti
