Juventus Gianluigi Buffon – 6 – Spectator - Caught nothing more than a cold on this brisk Turin evening, as Verona failed to trouble the Italy number one.Martin Caceres – 6.5- Efficient - Took advantage of a weak opponent to get involved in the attack as well as carrying out his defensive duties perfectly.Leonardo Bonucci – 6 – Adequate - Could have stayed in the dressing room and left his team mate Giorgio Chiellini to deal with the Verona attack. Did little because he had little to do.Giorgio Chiellini – 7 – Towering - Verona may not have given the Juve back line too many worries but Chiellini was equal to whatever they did throw at them. Took the chance to get forward as much as possible and looked as though he enjoyed himself, setting up the Pereyra goal.Patrice Evra – 6 – Timid - Expected more in terms of going forward from the ex-Manchester United full back who was more content sitting deep.Claudio Marchisio – 6.5 – Confident - Stifled the Verona midfield and broke forward joining the forwards as much as he could. Good performance from the ‘Principino’.Andrea Pirlo – 6 – Controlled - Probably not one of his finest efforts which was more to do with the lack of necessity as opposed to a below-par performance from the legendary play-maker.PAUL POGBA – 8 – Extra-Terrestrial - Incredible run of form for the young French superstar. Scored and dummied an assist for Tevez’s first goal and was just about unplayable. Is there a better all round football player on the planet right now?Roberto Pereyra – 7.5 – Crucial - Replaced the big boots of Arturo Vidal magnificently and is tactically tuned in to the Juve system despite his sporadic use. Excellent evening’s work for the Udinese-owned, midfielder capped by a brilliant goal.Carlos Tevez – 7.5 – Deadly - Great strike to double the lead and was his usual busy self. Difficult to contain when he is in this type of mood and deserved to score his second given his efforts on the night.Alvaro Morata – 7 – Decisive - Had a hand in both early goals. Offers so much more than compatriot Fernando Llorente right now and Allegri made right decision to start the youngster. Was superb throughout the match, shame he couldn’t find the net.SubstitutesSimone Pepe (76 mins) – N/ASimone Padoin (78 mins) – N/ASebastian Giovinco (84 mins) – N/A Hellas Verona Rafael – 6 – Inculpable - Busy evening for the Gialloblu custodian. Had little chance with the goals and can feel short-changed by the help offered up by his defence.Rafael Marquez – 5 – Desperate - Couldn’t get a handle on either Tevez or Morata who worked hard along the defensive line. Poor from the experienced Mexican.Marques – 5 – Uncertain - Similar to the rest of the Verona defence, just had no answer to the quick movement of the Juventus forwards and the late runs of the midfield.Guillermo Rodriguez – 4.5 – Woeful - Was terrible all evening, particularly struggled with the Juventus midfield players joining the attacks. A night to forget for the Uruguayan.Davide Brivio – 5.5 – Fearful - Little threat down the left, had more concerns with defending and did not look comfortable all evening.Ivan Martic – 5.5 – Weak - Offered some attack on the right hand side but got little change from Patrice Evra – which says it all really.Jacopo Sala – 5 – Sloppy - Wasteful on the ball but swamped by the quality of the Juventus players around him. Out of his depth.Panagiotis Tachtsidis – 4.5 – Invisible - Almost non-existent which is a shame given his undoubted qualities. Certainly his coach would have expected more from the Greek star.Lazaros Christodoulopoulos – 5 – Lazy - Looked weak and lethargic, failed to make much impact though he wasn’t alone in that respect. Just another shocking player in yellow.Leandro Greco – 5.5 – Insufficient - Tried to bring some quality to proceedings, but wasn’t his night.Luca Toni – 5 – Distant - Spent more time in his own penalty box defending corners than in the Juventus area. Small contribution from the big centre forward.SubstitutesJavier Saviola (63 mins) – 5 – NothingEmil Hallfredsson (76 mins) – N/AMattia Valoti (87 mins) – N/A http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Buffon - The veteran goalkeeper didn't have a lot of saves to make, but stayed alert to maintain command of his penalty area.4 M. Cáceres - Always alert to track back and cover in behind his central defenders when asked and also stayed wide to stretch play.19 L. Bonucci - A comfortable outing for the central defender, as Toni rarely received any service. Cut out a late cross from the left.3 G. Chiellini - Provided an assist for Pereyra's goal after a brilliant run from deep, as well as being defensively solid.33 P. Evra - Combined well with Pogba down the left-hand side at times, but didn't have a final ball.8 C. Marchisio - Kept the ball moving and slid an incisive pass into the penalty area to provide Tevez with the chance to net his second goal.21 A. Pirlo - Sat in front of the back four and stroked the ball around simply, as well as going close with a first-half free kick.6 Paul Pogba - Gave his side the lead with a fantastic long-range effort and looked effortlessly comfortable on the ball.37 R. Pereyra - Slammed a brilliant finish inside the near post for Juve's third goal and constantly drove from deep and fed Tevez.10 C. Tévez - Netted two goals in a comfortable win and offered plenty of selfless running to help Rafael have a torrid time in the Verona net.9 Álvaro Morata - Full of running and linked up fairly well with Tevez, but was guilty of a couple of poor decisions.Substitutes7 S. Pepe - Returned to a good reception and was full of running.20 S. Padoin - Given the last 10 minutes to freshen up the midfield.12 S. Giovinco - Penetrated a few good spaces late on but wasn't given good service. Hellas Verona 1 Rafael - Beaten too easily at his near post at times and made a few reasonable saves.4 R. Márquez - Stepped out to make a couple of good interceptions, but otherwise struggled against Juve's pace and movement.25 R. Marques - Morata and Tevez had far too much freedom, with the Verona back three struggling to know when to step out and when to stand firm.2 G. Rodríguez - Made a few timely interceptions and tackles deep within his own penalty area, but was generally quite scrappy.28 D. Brivio - Whipped in plenty of crosses from the left-hand side, but they were rarely good enough to trouble both the back four and Buffon.71 I. Martic - Wasn't given much of the ball in wide areas to deliver crosses and struggled with Evra and Pogba doubling up on him.26 J. Sala - Offered very little in midfield other than trying to protect his zone and keep the side's shape. Substituted on the hour mark.77 P. Tachtsidis - Battled in the centre of midfield but was unable to do anything other than attempt to compete.20 L. Christodoulopoulos - Positive with his running, getting a couple of shots on target and giving his defence some respite as a result.19 L. Greco - Didn't see enough of the ball to have anything of an effect and his only second-half contribution was a yellow card.9 L. Toni - Very isolated for long periods and only received a ball to his upper body on two occasions. Struggled to get into the game.Substitutes10 E. Hallfreðsson - Was merely fresh legs in a midfield that didn't string together any meaningful passages of play.27 M. Valoti7 J. Saviola - Had a couple of late forays forward, but was either denied by Caceres or a poor ball from out wide. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

It was Pogba again just minutes later as he dummied the ball to leave Carlos Tevez to score with a first time finish.Juve pushed on in the second half and it was Giorgio Chiellini’s assist that set up Roberto Pereyra to deftly fire past Rafael before Claudio Marchisio set up Carlos Tevez who nutmegged the keeper to score Juve’s fourth and his second of the night.Gianluigi Buffon 6.0 - Only had one save to make the entire evening and that was straight at him. Made a grab late on to deny Hellas a tap-in but untroubled for much of the game.Martin Caceres 6.5 - Provided a decent cross or two, solid in defence and could have scored a goal himself. Solid.Leonardo Bonucci 6.5 - Kept Luca Toni quiet all match, made some easy headed clearances and was composed and confident throughout.Giorgio Chiellini 6.5 - Galloped forward at every chance, made a perfect interception when Hellas could have countered and even managed to provide an assist. King Kong.Patrice Evra 6.0 - Solid, if not spectacular. Barely troubled down the left flank, made a few runs into the Hellas half and had a chance to score which he should have taken.Claudio Marchisio 6.5 - An engine in midfield, passed, tackled and did a decent impersonation of Arturo Vidal before providing a perfect assist for Carlos Tevez’ second goal on the night.Andrea Pirlo 6.5 - Completed 92% of his passes on the night, kept Juve moving forward and forced a decent save from Rafael with a perfectly placed free kick.Paul Pogba 7.0 - Opened the scoring with a pile driver from distance that beat the keeper before taking control of the midfield and creating opportunities for his teammates.Roberto Pereyra 6.5 - Finally scored his first league goal with the deftest of finishes. Harried the Hellas defence and seems to be improving with each game.Carlos Tevez 7.5 - Bagged a brilliant brace that takes him to the top of the scoring charts and you have to feel he could have scored more. Ran tirelessly throughout and was easily the man of the match.Alvaro Morata 7.0 - Arguably his best performance in a Juve shirt, despite not scoring. Gave Juve something totally different up front with his runs and passing. We saw a clean sheet as another objective for the game. “I am very happy with the team, but I still see how much more we can do in future, as when we all move together to cover the spaces it becomes difficult for opponents. There are still moments when we fall asleep and run too many risks in defence.” This is the midway stage of the Serie A season and Juventus are five points clear of Roma, but Allegri isn’t getting ahead of himself. “So far this season we’re top of the table, through to the next round of the Champions League and Coppa Italia. The only setback was the defeat on penalties in the Super Cup. “There’s a long way to go and we will certainly run into difficulties. Let’s not forget when we had a series of draws people acted as if everything was collapsing, but a season is bound to have highs and lows. “We are in good physical shape at the moment and that will be the most important element in the second half of the season, especially as the fixture list gets packed.” Alvaro Morata was given a rare start alongside Carlos Tevez. “In my view Morata has extraordinary technique. He arrived from a huge club like Real Madrid, but didn’t play much there, so this is a very different season for him. “Usually he plays for the goal, but tonight we saw him play to create chances for others too. He needs to be a little less frenetic and also realise that he has to be in a game for over 90 minutes.” Allegri also had advice for Paul Pogba, who was on target again this evening. “We treat Pogba like a veteran, but he’s still very young. I often tell him to understand which zone of the field he can do certain things, as occasionally he goes a bit over the top. Tonight he played a great game. “In order to win the Ballon d’Or you tend to need the Champions League or a major international trophy. He certainly has what it takes to achieve that.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Jan 18, 2014 By Kris Voakes | International Football Correspondent The unofficial crown of winter champions was already theirs, but Juventus gave a thrilling exhibition of their superiority in the Serie A title race while moving five points clear of Roma on Sunday. The Giallorossi's failure to pick up three points at Palermo on Saturday not only confirmed Juve's lead at the halfway stage of the season, but again showed that Rudi Garcia's men lack the cutting edge that is imperative in a championship hopeful. In comparison, 24 hours later the Bianconeri bared their teeth from the opening moments against Verona. Just seven minutes in, they were two goals clear and slotting back into second gear. They eventually won 4-0, adding to their 6-1 Coppa Italia triumph over the same side in midweek, four days from hell for Alberto Malesani's troops. Furthermore, it was the kind of showing that Roma themselves have been craving over the past month but have repeatedly been unable to deliver. Draws with AC Milan, Lazio and Palermo have proved costly at a time when the champions have beaten Cagliari, Napoli and now Verona. Roma regularly rely on Francesco Totti for inspiration and have found a regular goalscorer hard to come by; Massimiliano Allegri has been heavily aided by the sight of Carlos Tevez finding the net with ease, and his midfielders toying with opponents for fun. While Allegri has much more to prove both at home and abroad, his decision to switch the shape of his side from Antonio Conte's tried and tested 3-5-2 to a 4-3-1-2 is bearing fruit in great quantity. There are more angles of attack opening up, their play appears far more fluid and their style is far more pleasing on the eye than under previous management. Paul Pogba again stoked the fire within Juventus, thrashing home a low drive from distance in only the third minute before cleverly allowing the ball to reach Tevez at the far post for a second shortly afterwards. The Frenchman is quickly becoming not only the best player in Serie A but one of the greatest in the world. He was rumoured to be heading for Spain for talks with Real Madrid this weekend, but instead stayed in Turin and turned in another masterclass. Still, Florentino Perez might well be begging Pogba to board the first flight to the Spanish capital on Monday morning. But whereas Roma often look one-dimensional without their 38-year-old skipper, Juve have plenty more besides their star man. Even without Pogba, you get the feeling the Old Lady would find a way past opponents more often than not. There was no Arturo Vidal due to injury on Sunday, but you would have done well to notice. Juve simply overwhelmed their opposition. Their quality in the attacking third was never in doubt, with Roberto Pereyra and a second strike from Tevez adding some gloss in the second half. It was a far cry from Roma's tentative approach in front of goal in Palermo and the three games which preceded that trip. Adem Ljajic remains their top scorer this term with six goals, while Mattia Destro took his tally to five with the second-half equaliser in Sicily. Tevez has so far outscored the two of them put together, while he has Alvaro Morata and Fernando Llorente competing to be his striking foil. That underlines the difference. The culmination of the andata of the Serie A season taught us is that Juventus are still the runaway favourites for the title while Roma remaining nothing more than pretenders. And unless Roma can find a way to inject the same ruthlessness into their play that their title rivals display most weeks, then Juve's fourth successive Scudetto may be a more straightforward achievement than many originally anticipated. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

I was proven wrong without a doubt. And not over the course of 90 minutes. It took about, oh, seven or eight minutes for Juventus to destroy Hellas' spirits once again. How do I know this? Basically because this a picture of Hellas Verona manager Andrea Mandorlini reacting to how things are going against Juventus ... in the first half. It was, again, a complete rout by Juventus against Hellas Verona in Turin Sunday night. Paul Pogba dazzled ... again. Carlos Tévez scored goals ... again. Gigi Buffon barely did nothing en route to a clean sheet ... again. It was every bit of Thursday night's Coppa Italia victory transported into Sunday's Serie A fixture that officially signified the midway point of the season. I mean, when your Twitter feed starts filling up with everybody saying "I thought things would be a little different today..." 10 minutes into the game then you know not many people had any kind of idea Juventus — and to a lesser extent Hellas Verona — could replicate what happened just a few days earlier on the same ground. But it happened. And man oh man was it fun to watch. Again. So how do you like Juventus' response to the hugely disappointing 1-1 draw with Inter to begin the new year?A 3-1 win at the San Paolo against Napoli despite not playing all that great overall. A 6-1 beatdown against Hellas Verona in the Coppa Italia. And now, another dismantling of Hellas Verona, this time 4-0 with an accompanying poker face to go with it.This is the way things are going right now. No matter who Juventus throws on the field, they are getting the job done. And above all else, Juventus' stars are playing like stars again. You see Pogba command the midfield once again? Because you should have. You see Tévez score his Serie A-best 12th and 13th goals of the season? Because you should have. Not a bad thing to team with Roma dropping points against Palermo yesterday. Back to plus-5 in the standings, folks.JuventusFC ✔ @juventusfcen.@OfficialAllegri: "Credit to the lads. It wasn't easy to win after putting six past them before. We handled the game well."Juventus should play Hellas Verona every week. It has been decided. You're welcome. Random thoughts and observationsJuventus wins 10-1 on aggregate.Or maybe we should just wait until the next game against Hellas Verona to decide what the aggregate score will be? I don't know. There's going to be too many goals to add up anyways.Seriously, I'm starting to think Paul Pogba isn't human. This current form he's on right now, there's a damn good reason why the Juventus Stadium crowd gets a little louder whenever Pogba is on the ball. His goal once again reminded everybody about just how deadly he is when shooting from long range. But it was everything he did that showed why he's now becoming a true star in European football. He's just so fun to watch.Another really nice game from Álvaro Morata, whose only downfall is that he probably should have had a goal. But his build-up play was great, as was combination play with Tévez. We'll see if two straight starts ends up being something to actually write home about. But there's no doubting Morata's made a strong case to Allegri as to why he should start over Fernando Llorente on a regular basis going forward. It took Roberto Pereyra until the middle of January to score his first two goal with the club, but both of them have been really, really nice. If he continues to adapt to life as a trequartista, that gives Allegri just one more option heading into the next few months of absolutely craziness with the schedule. Not sure if Giorgio Chiellini or Franz Beckenbauer. That run and assist on Pereyra's goal was pretty slick.Pogba Pogba isn't the only Juventus midfielder playing damn well right now. Claudio Marchisio, as he's done for a good portion of the season, was really good against Hellas Verona. He's just contributing in so many ways these days. Scoring chances of his own, setting up teammates, tracking back and defending, this is Claudio Marchisio at his best.Just don't fall into his gaze, everybody. It will get you every time. How much fun is this Juventus team having right now? Usually when you blow a goal-scoring opportunity, you see players facepalming and/or screaming at themselves (or each other). Tévez and Morata are there cracking smiles and having a laugh. Good times, good times.Still trying to figure out why Frederik Sorensen can't crack this Hellas Verona defense. I mean, they looked just as bad on Sunday as they did Thursday night in the Coppa Italia.Max Allegri has Juventus in the knockout stages of the Champions League, five points up on Roma in the Serie A table, and officially grabbed the winter champion tagline Sunday. Not a bad opening six months. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The result was a 6-1 mauling that was over as a contest the moment Sebastian Giovinco’s fifth-minute free kick found the back of the net. Reviewed in detail here, that match was testament to the depth of talent available to the Bianconeri, the club having assembled the strongest and most versatile squad on the peninsula. As they prepared to once again welcome the same opponent to Juventus Stadium on Sunday evening, Massimiliano Allegri urged his players not to underestimated the Gialloblu. “Don’t kid yourselves that Verona will play the same way,” the coach said at his pre-match press conference, per Football Italia. “They’ll be much more careful and won’t allow us many chances.” His comments were echoed by opposite number Andrea Mandolini, who promised reporters “it will be a different game, featuring different players,” per Juve’s official website. Both teams did indeed introduce a raft of new names to their respective lineups, with the return of leading scorers Carlos Tevez and Luca Toni arguably the most prominent. Fast-forward 90 minutes, and once again the scoreline reflected the complete dominance enjoyed by the Bianconeri, running out 4-0 winners without ever truly exerting themselves. Despite repeatedly going head-to-head over the years, the final result was yet another loss for Hellas Verona, their 22nd defeat in 26 visits to Turin, with the other four games all ending in draws. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Allegri altered seven of the 11 players who started the Coppa Italia encounter, retaining only Leonardo Bonucci, Paul Pogba, Roberto Pereyra and Alvaro Morata. The first of those was almost by necessity, the injury-hit nature of Juve’s defensive options making the 27-year-old essential to the solidity of the back line. Of the others, Pogba would open the scoring with a trademark thundering effort after just 160 seconds, while Pereyra would net the side’s third goal midway through the second half. While Verona were no match for the collective quality of Juventus, this clash was arguably won by the performance of Morata. More than any other player in the famous black and white stripes, the Spanish striker was responsible for this win, leading the line perfectly. Missing only a goal, his wonderful display delivered everything required of a modern forward as his cross-field pass created space for Pogba’s opener, while his ball into the box was dummied by the Frenchman for Tevez to double their advantage. The two front men almost combined again shortly after the restart, the Argentinian narrowly missing with a header after a pass from the former Real Madrid star. Having netted a penalty on Thursday, Morata was full of confidence and constantly sought opportunities to add to his tally of five goals so far this season. Yet he did so in an unselfish manner, his play allowing Juve’s excellent midfield players to break forward, and the amount of work he did off the ball was staggering to watch. Taking his lead from the hardworking Tevez, statistics from WhoScored.com show Morata registered two tackles and one interception, constantly pressuring the Veronese defence. While he may have failed in his search for a goal of his own, the pace of his running tormented the opposition, twisting them out of shape and creating space for others to fill. Morata offers a vastly different style to his compatriot Fernando Llorente, but Juventus will undoubtedly need both as the campaign progresses. The contrast provides two very different looks for the Bianconeri, allowing Allegri to tailor his team selection to any given opponent. No matter which he has chosen thus far, the result has been the same as the Juventus machine rolls on and the wins pile up with the club now five points clear of Roma atop the Serie A standings.JuventusFC ✔ @juventusfcen A banner is unfurled at #JStadium: "Years and seasons go by but we're once again Winter Champions." That has meant they have once again been crowned winter champions, a title given to the team leading the way at the halfway stage of the season. Ultimately a meaningless accolade, it does bode well for the future as 56 of the 81 teams to have been in front at the midway point have gone on to claim the Scudetto. A change of coach has brought a tactical switch to a back four, there has been heavy rotation on the field and none of it has slowed down the reigning champions. For Juventus, the more things change, the more they truly do stay the same. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

A 6-1 defeat to the Bianconeri on Thursday and a 4-0 defeat on Sunday has left the Mastini wounded at 14th place in the Serie A table and in need of a boost in morale. “The relationship with the club is great,” said Mandorlini to Sky Sport Italia. “For us, Juventus is an insurmountable mountain, and has laid bare some of our limits. We thought we were doing a bit better before these two games but we fell, and we will rebuild. Our championship starts with the game against Atalanta.” He continued with reflections on the defensive struggles over the previous encounters with the league leaders. “Ten goals in a few days are bad, that’s for sure. We conceded a goal in the third minute, and we didn’t even have time to react before we conceded the second goal. From the psychological point of view it was a blow.” http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Jan 18, 2014 Massimiliano Allegri is certain that Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has the ability to win the Fifa Ballon d'Or. Pogba produced a fine display in Juve's 4-0 Serie A defeat of Verona on Sunday, breaking the deadlock after just three minutes with an unstoppable 30-yard strike. The France international also played a role in the second goal, allowing a Martin Caceres delivery to run for Carlos Tevez, who coolly swept Juve into a two-goal lead after just seven minutes. Roberto Pereyra added the third, with Tevez on target again 16 minutes from time, but it was Pogba who was picked out for praise by Juve coach Allegri - who is convinced that the former Manchester United man has the natural ability to be crowned the world's best. "We treat Pogba like a veteran," the coach told Sky Sport Italia. "But he is still very young. "I often tell him to think about which areas of the field he can do certain things, as sometimes he goes a bit over the top, [but on Sunday] he played a great game. "In order to win the Ballon d'Or you tend to need the Champions League or a major international trophy. He certainly has what it takes to achieve that." Real Madrid have been linked with a possible mega-money bid for Pogba in recent days but the midfielder has said he is not worth any transfer fee unless he continues to improve his form. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

They say it's difficult to beat the same opponent twice in quick succession, with the loser getting a chance to fix the problems and create more problems in the second match, but Juventus-Hellas Verona showed the total opposite. Two goals in the first 10 minutes put an end to any hope of Verona getting the result, and the majority of the match was fairly calm possession play from Juventus, although the home side seemed able to create a chance whenever they wanted. Verona struggled to create anything all game, with a few hopeful long balls and crosses and a solo counter from Lazaros Christodoulopoulos the best they could muster, all easily dealt with by the Juventus defense.Martín Cáceres has been fantastic since coming back into the side at right-back, contributing even more going forward than Stephan Lichtsteiner. It will be fascinating to see how the battle for that position develops, and although it will lead to some difficult decisions it is precisely the kind of problem Massimiliano Allegri wants to have.Paul Pogba was massive in midfield, with his recent form making that Balon d'Or seem just around the corner as he becomes more involved in everything Juventus does, taking more responsibility in central midfield and turning his incredible ability into scoring opportunities even more regularly. After the excellent attacking performance midweek it's no surprise that Allegri wanted to reward some of the star performers, and despite failing to find the back of the net in either match Álvaro Morata seems set to finally grab the starting role alongside Carlos Tévez. The attack seems much less predictable with the younger, faster Morata buzzing around and taking on defenders, while his holdup play certainly seems good enough. Willing to track back as far as his own byline and surely in line for some better luck finishing, Morata is doing everything to make the spot his own.The Old Lady steamrollered a Verona side that seemed to show up expecting the worst, and now lead Serie A by five points after Roma was held to a draw in Palermo. The Mastiffs will be seriously shaken by two dismal performances against the champions in Turin, but with Parma and Cesena looking very much primed for the drop, it seems unlikely the tailspin will be bad enough to put them in serious trouble. Mandorlini may not be so lucky however, as his teams past two performances, despite a few decent individuals, have been so disjointed and depressing that pressure must be mounting.Allegri on the other hand, looks better than ever, with young players looking ready to take the next step and proven performers having some of their best moments. Although Verona offered so little resistance, Juventus played like champions all over the pitch. Since coming back from the winter break Juventus is playing its best football in a long time, and long may it continue. MATCH SUMMARYAlmost as soon as it began this match was over as a contest, with Pogba, Morata, and Tévez contributing to two goals in the first ten minutes, after which both sides for the most part seemed content to conserve energy and watch the clock run down. Juventus seemed able to create a chance every time they set their mind to it and raised the tempo just a touch, as Verona's deep lines were shredded at will by the intelligent movement and passing of the Juventus attack and midfield. It was three minutes in when Pogba broke the deadlock, with Morata collecting a pass down the left side and dribbled infield, drawing three defenders before teeing up Pogba for a fantastic strike, curled into the far corner from well outside the box. Perhaps Rafael in the Verona net was a bit slow to react, but it was a fantastic strike from a player who seems more amazing every week.In the 10th minute Juventus doubled the lead, and Morata was integral again as he collected Martín Cáceres' ball out of defense and digging out a cross, which took a kind deflection before Pogba got a shout and left it for Tévez to drive home.Juventus continued to press in the early going, with Andrea Pirlo getting a couple decent looks from free kicks, as Verona struggled to contain the movement of the Juventus attack. With two mobile strikers, Roberto Pereyra and Claudio Marchisio constantly running behind the defense, and Pogba and the fullbacks contributing as well, the Juventus attack looks much more dangerous than just a few weeks ago. Verona finally got some possession around the 15th minute, but even with the ball they only looked interested in keeping the score down.A couple of slack giveaways in the buildup were the only real chance for Verona to get back into the game, but Luca Toni was isolated against the Juventus defense and unable to trouble Gianluigi Buffon. Pogba continued a fantastic start to the game, able to pick a defense-splitting pass or do all the work himself, beating opponents for skill and strength.Morata could have had a deserved goal when a chipped ball for Marchisio forced a sloppy back-header, but Rafael Márquez just did enough to put him off. The game continued fairly settled at 2-0, with Juventus upping the tempo occasionally and getting very close to a third, including a Cáceres shot that whistled wide after Pirlo's low free kick was deflected by the wall.Around the 40th minute the Pogba show returned, as he was involved in everything on both ends. Shimmying past a man and nearly grabbing another curling wondergoal, then intercepting a pass to nearly play in Tévez, before sprinting back and easily outjumping Luca Toni when Verona tried to play long.As the match ticked towards halftime Verona still had little idea with the ball, with Juventus dominating every matchup on the field. Still able to easily work space deeper in midfield and with constant runs beyond the defensive line, it seemed only a matter of time until Juventus grabbed its third goal of the evening. The second half started with a flurry as Juventus tried to add to the lead, with Morata heavily involved as he just missed setting up Marchisio with a backheel and blasted wide from long range. Cáceres combined well down the right with the strikers and Marchisio, and Rafa Márquez was called on repeatedly to keep the scoreline down.Morata nearly set up Tévez following excellent harrying down the right as he dispossessed Guillermo Rodríguez, but put too much pace on the cross.Lazaros was the only Verona player who looked like he might get something out of the match, as he kept running hard and trying to create something either on the counter or by winning the ball in a dangerous area, but he never had enough help against a determined Juventus defense. After losing the clean sheet on Thursday, the Juve backline seemed determined to not let it happen again. In the 66th minute Juventus finally got the third goal, with Giorgio Chiellini charging forward as the Verona defense looked on like statues. On the edge of the box a defender finally stepped out towards big Giorgio, but that only gave him space to play in Pereyra for the midfielder's first Serie A goal in a Juventus kit. With two goals in his last two games, following a barren streak since his summer move, Pereyra getting into finishing form just adds another dimension to the Juventus attack.A few minutes later Carlos Tévez rounded out the scoring, completing his sixth brace of the season (fourth in the league,) and extending his lead atop the scorers charts with a cool finish between Rafael's legs. The move started with Cáceres winning a long ball and charging forward, laying the ball off to Marchisio and continuing his run into the penalty area. Marchisio followed suit, driving into the heart of the defense, before finding Tévez' run with a perfectly-timed assist. As the clock ran down there was little hope for Verona to get anything at all, as Pepe and Giovinco returned to the pitch following inspiring displays midweek. Verona had perhaps its best chance of the night when a Brivio cross nearly fell for Martić but the Croatian completely missed his kick.Juventus saw out the night seemingly looking for particular goalscorers, as the ball made its way towards Pepe, Evra, and Giovinco in good positions. None of the strikes caused any serious difficulties for Rafael however, who now leaves Turin with 10 goals conceded and the knowledge that it could have been worse. LE PAGELLEBuffon: N/A Clark Kent didn't need to change out of his suit for this one, as Verona hardly directed anything near the goal all game.Cáceres: 7 A fantastic shift from the versatile defender, who used his pace and energy to run the entire flank and even get into the box.Bonucci: 6.5 Kept Luca Toni well under wraps and played his role well in circulating possession, made a couple of mistakes but quick to recover.Chiellini: 7 Like his partner in defense Chiellini had no trouble winning the aerial battle with Lucone, also contributing an assist for Pereyra following a swashbuckling run.Evra: 6.5 Combining well with Pogba and very good in covering for his defensive partners, Evra could have done more in the final third but, like the entire team, played a good match.Marchisio: 7 Always stretching the defense, Marchisio was a constant menace, whether combining with the strikers and looking for a return or driving forward himself. Contributed an assist, and was very close to getting on the scoresheet.Pirlo: 7 With the changes brought by Allegri and Pogba's growth in running the game Pirlo's role has changed, but the veteran still has the skill and awareness to unlock a defense at any moment. Good in his defensive role and deadly from free kicks, Pirlo is still a big part of this team.Pogba: 8 The young Frenchman is showing perhaps the best form of his life, and the level seems to be rising every week. Dominant every time he gets on the ball, any weaknesses in his game are rapidly disappearing.Pereyra: 7 Somewhat hidden for parts of the game as he dedicated a lot of effort to Marchisio-like runs to create space for others, Pereyra came to life in the second half, getting on the ball more and scoring with a confident finish after Chiellini played him in.Morata: 7.5 Despite not getting any of the 10 goals himself, Morata has played a vital role in Juventus' back-to-back wins over Verona. His pace and directness add variety to the Juventus attack, and he has made a very convincing argument for a starting role.Tévez: 7.5 Playing with Morata has not slowed Tévez at all, with the Argentine striker continuing to take his chances like an Olympic marksman. As always gave his strong showing in terms of effort and buildup play. Substitutes:Pepe: 6.5 Only given 15 minutes, Pepe showed his technique and a good turn of speed down the wing, as well as firing in a hopeful shot or two.Padoin: N/A Run out in midfield this time, Padoin did his thing: no frills, full effort.Giovinco: N/A Given a couple of minutes for Tévez the Italian striker tried to dribble through the defense or latch onto a ball over the top, but it never quite came off. CoachAllegri: 7.5 After a 6-1 win it would be normal for a side to sit back on its laurels a bit, especially when facing the same opponent only three days later, but Allegri's rotations and motivational skills contributed to an even more impressive performance. With all his moves seemingly paying off in spades, Allegri has proven the doubters wrong and made this team better. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Jan 19, 2014 Within the space of a week the Scudetto race has changed dramatically, as Juventus displayed their ruthlessness and Roma their fragility. A 3-1 win away to Napoli last weekend could well be looked back upon as the decisive moment of this season for the Bianconeri, as they not only overcame a rival but also a long-standing poor record at the San Paolo. But if anybody had thought this might result in complacency as they took on Hellas Verona twice in 72 hours between Coppa Italia and Serie A, they were proved emphatically wrong. Andrea Mandorlini has endured a torrid week at the hands of Massimiliano Allegri and his troops, conceding 10 goals in the space of four days against two differing Juve line-ups. Their combination of strength in depth and consistency makes it hard to bet against the Old Lady securing a fourth consecutive title, as the likes of Sebastian Giovinco, Roberto Pereyra and Kingsley Coman have all been staking their claim in the last few days. The upcoming Champions League commitments against Borussia Dortmund offer a potential distraction, particularly as their second clash with Roma arrives between the two legs against the Germans. But Roma will need to sort out their own problems first before they can rely upon Juventus making mistakes. The Giallorossi had to come back from behind for the second time in a row in their 1-1 draw with Palermo, with a Davide Astori error leading to Paulo Dybala taking the lead within only two minutes. Although they managed to recover, like they had in last weekend’s derby, courtesy of Mattia Destro’s equaliser, it was the capital club’s fourth draw in the last six games and the failure to pick up three points more regularly has cost them. The problems appear to be two-pronged. The defence, so recently praised as the cornerstone of the Lupi title challenge, was pulled apart by Lazio last weekend before Astori’s error ultimately led to the draw in Sicily. Up front, Destro scored his first goal in three months against Palermo. The over-reliance of the fairly immobile Francesco Totti to lead the line has been particularly evident in the absence of the pacey Gervinho, who is away on Africa Cup of Nations duty. The Giallorossi are being outscored in Serie A not only by Juventus but also by Napoli and Lazio, and Palermo themselves have only hit the target one less time than Rudi Garcia’s men despite being in 10th place. The French Coach must extract some fluency from his side again if they are to emerge from the cold winter months with a title shot, and his priorities must be to re-focus his defence and create better attacking cohesion in the absence of their Ivorian winger. Just below the title chasers, there was a huge moment in the Champions League battle as Napoli overcame an injury-plagued Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico thanks to Gonzalo Higuain’s early goal. The win means they leapfrog the Aquile into third, where they are joined by Sampdoria, who beat Parma 2-0 to sustain their challenge. Fiorentina’s dramatic late winner against Chievo has put the Viola within three points of third place as well and there was a thriller at Marassi as Genoa and Sassuolo played out a 3-3 draw. There weren’t any thrills to be had at San Siro however, as Milan were beaten 1-0 by Atalanta to plunge the Rossoneri into crisis.http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

History has not been on their side as they have yet to achieve a victory in Juve's home in the league. A draw was the dream but instead they proved incapable of even providing a challenge. It took the Bianconeri a grand total of six minutes to go 2-0 up, leaving their opponent both physically and psychologically broken. Despite the change of formation and the deployment of Luca Toni on the pitch, Verona looked intimidated and insecure and failed to work as a unit to adequately restrict Juve's attacking game. Andrea Mandorlini's defence was shambolic and guilty of a series of errors that were embarrassing to say the least. Mediocrity would have pierced that defence let alone the majesty of Juve's attack. While the Bianconeri are often forced to overcome a goalkeeper playing the game of his life against them, Verona's Rafael made life that much easier for the champions of Italy. Both in the Coppa Italia and on Sunday evening, he could have done better on certain goals, and while his defence let him down, he ought to take responsibility for his role in this simple home win. The Old Lady, on the other hand, looked self-assured and confident, pushing in numbers and having as many as five players in the box in their attacks. They still ran a few risks defensively but certain players are doing well to make the most of their opportunities and deserve to be commended. This blog hasn't always been kind to Alvaro Morata, because he has disappointed in the Bianconeri jersey despite his undoubted potential. His needy approach to the game and obsession with scoring has hindered Juve's attacking flair and affected his status within the team. To be fair to him, this blog similarly criticised Carlos Tevez for doing the same on occasions last season and especially in Champions League matches. He has since learned how to play to the rhythm of the team, proving himself to be Juve's greatest asset. Against Verona, Morata understood sacrifice that bit more. Not only was he happy to roam and stretch the attack, offering the mobility required of a centre forward, but he demonstrated his technique while making the right decisions -- something he has struggled with in the past. He looked to help the team and was defended rather well. His relationship with Tevez needs to improve still and the Spaniard needs to look up more without surrendering to impulse so quickly. Nonetheless, on a night where he was asked to lead the line, he played a game worthy of his reputation. Yet the Spaniard was not the only one who impressed. Martin Caceres played well while Roberto Pereyra is proving he can finish. Claudio Marchisio is another worthy of praise and his intelligence and dedication to the cause never ceases to impress. Not only did he provide an immaculate assist for Juve's fourth goal but the manner in which he passed and then took up a perfect position in case there was a cut back demonstrated his understanding of the game. Whether it be defending, attacking or initiating counter-attacks, he makes an impact. As does Giorgio Chiellini, who fans often take for granted. Yet despite the beauty of the Juve's game, it's important to note that their task was made easier by an opponent who was so feeble in defence. Chiellini will not be allowed to waltz so freely into the final third without so much as a shove in other games, nor will other teams collapse so easily when faced with skilful players. Juventus played a great game but considering the circumstances, anything other than a resounding victory would have been deemed a failure. While confidence has grown and momentum can be achieved, coach Massimiliano Allegri still has to concentrate on creating a side that reacts to pressure. Allowed all the time in the world to surge in numbers and Juventus will dominate, as they did against Verona. However, the sides that have played a well-executed pressing game while maintaining a compact unit have frustrated the champions, proving they have yet to understand how to overcome this obstacle -- something that has led to poor showings in Europe. Juventus, with the best defence and attack statistics in the league, have proven they're the best in Serie A -- at least until this point. If they continue to play with intensity and take the opportunity to learn from their mistakes, they are bound for more glory.http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The Bianconeri eased past Verona last night, which allowed the champions to go five points clear of nearest rivals Roma who drew at Palermo on Saturday night. “It was very important for us,” Llorente told Sky of last night’s win. “Now we’re five points ahead, but there’s a long way to go in the League, because Roma have shown they’re a great team. “However, we have to concentrate on ourselves and keep going. We have to be at our best, because every game is difficult, and if you let your guard down for even a moment it can be dangerous. “The Champions League? Socrates 8517 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 134577 messaggi Inviato January 22, 2015 The Bianconeri’s new blood Now at the halfway point of the Serie A season, Luca Cetta assesses the early impact of Juventus’ summer signings. Jan 21, 2014 Juventus are not getting carried away just yet, but acknowledge they are in good shape to retain their crown with 19 games played. The Bianconeri have been led to top spot – five points clear of Roma – by members of the old guard, the likes of Carlos Tevez, Leonardo Bonucci and Claudio Marchisio, with championship medals already in their possession. Tevez was the big-name signing of last season, but nobody of his stature arrived at Vinovo this time around. Rather, the policy was to bolster the squad and add depth with players who can challenge the established contingent. When asked about the new brigade before last week’s Coppa Italia clash with Verona, Massimiliano Allegri responded: “Our new signings have been good.” With six months in Turin under their belt, here’s a look at each of the five arrivals. Roberto Pereyra has made the most appearances, 24, of the new breed and only five players have been fielded more often than El Tucumano in all competitions. He’s featured in various midfield roles, shining brightest in taking up a position behind the strikers. The Argentine has proven a solid option and versatile figure. With 12 Serie A starts under his belt he has the tactician’s faith. Adding goals to his repertoire – as has been the case in recent days – will only boost his standing. On loan from Udinese, Pereyra’s move can be made permanent in July and it would not be a surprise to see a deal negotiated. One question is whether spending up to €14m on his signature will enhance the Old Lady in the Champions League, where she strives to improve each season. Pereyra has started just once in Europe. Alvaro Morata, meanwhile, arrived fresh from Real Madrid’s European triumph, but didn’t see much game time in the Spanish capital. This season has followed a similar pattern, with the 22-year-old locked in an Iberian battle with Fernando Llorente for the right to partner Tevez. The nod has often gone to the former Athletic Bilbao man. Morata’s start against Verona was just his sixth. From the bench Morata – four League goals – has proven an impact player, providing energy and a goal threat in limited playing time. Allegri sees a talented and decisive player, but one who needs to exhibit greater consistency to become a regular starter: “Morata has extraordinary technique. He arrived from a huge club like Real Madrid, but didn’t play much there, so this is a very different season for him... He needs to be a little less frenetic and also realise that he has to be in a game for over 90 minutes.” Patrice Evra ended an eight-and-a-half-season stay at Manchester United to join Juventus, returning to the country where he commenced his professional career. ‘Uncle Pat’ took time to adjust as the Bianconeri initially kept to the 3-5-2 formation of seasons past. He traded the left wing-back position with Kwadwo Asamoah, but with Juve’s switch to a four man defence and the Ghanaian’s injury is the undisputed choice at left back. With consistent game time under his belt in a position of comfort the veteran has improved. At 33, Evra is only a short-term option and it’s a position Juventus will likely add to in the summer, but he has valuable experience to offer, especially in Europe. Countryman Kingsley Coman has enjoyed a positive start to life in Turin. Signed on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, summer reports spoke glowingly of the 18-year-old. Bianconeri fans got the chance to see what the fuss was about on the opening day against Chievo as Coman was thrust into the starting line-up. He responded with an encouraging debut. His Coppa goal was a first career strike and perhaps a sign of things to come from the promising talent. Coman has pace and can be a handful for opponents. He can only get better as he continues to adapt and grow. Lastly, Romulo’s season has not panned out so well. He arrived from Verona a jack-of-all-trades type, but thanks to injury has worn the black and white just three times. If Pereyra’s move is a good chance of becoming permanent, the same cannot be said for the Italo-Brazilian. Contrasting fortunes, then, for the quintet. Six months into the journey the overall sentiment surrounding their impact is one of positivity. The players will want to use the remaining months of the season to further their worth. As they head towards the Scudetto, Juve know the new blood has played its part. Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The pair were left out of today’s training session as they have come down with flu symptoms. The goalkeeper was diagnosed first, but it appears to have spread to the veteran midfielder too. There was some good news for the Bianconeri, as Andrea Barzagli returned to training with the group yesterday and today had the entire session with his teammates. Last weekends win against the side from Verona saw Juve stretch their undefeated home run to two years, their last league defeat at the J-Stadium coming at the hands Sampdoria way back on 6 January 2013 [33 wins and 4 draws].There were some concerns about Gigi Buffon and Andre Pirlo who both came down with flu-like symptoms midweek but both players are believed to have returned to training. Juve were further bolstered by the return of Andrea Barzagli who completed full training sessions midweek.Juventus are expected to lineup much the same as in last weeks 4-0 win over Verona. Gigi Buffon will start in goal with Stephan Lichtsteiner and Patrice Evra playing in the full-back positions. Sky Sport Italia predicted a starting XI that included Andrea Barzagli but it’s more than likely he’ll feature from the bench if he does indeed play.Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini are most-likely to play in the centre-back positions with Claudio Marchisio expected to fill in for Andrea Pirlo in midfield. Paul Pogba and Roberto Pereyra will sit either side as part of the 3-man midfield with Arturo Vidal behind the front duo of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente. Predicted Lineup4-3-1-2 : Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Bonucci, Chiellini, Evra; Marchisio, Vidal, Pogba; Pereyra; Tevez, Llorente InjuriesKwadwo Asamoah and Romulo (Both undergone knee surgery), Angelo Ogbonna (Ankle), Andrea Pirlo (Flu – Recovered), Luca Marrone. Chievo Do you know about those prejudices against Chievo Verona? The ones saying that they are utterly defensive-minded and, in the end, incredibly boring? It turns out that they are mostly true, even though Rolando Maran was considered an offensive-minded coach earlier in his career. But, truth be told, they get things done when it counts as, since they finished their great climb up until Serie A, they failed only once to escape relegation.Predictably, they have the worst attack in the League, as they scored only fourteen goals so far. On the other end, they have conceded only 22 goals, ranking fourth in Serie A, behind Juventus (9), Roma (14), Torino (21) and tied with Lazio and Milan. Their matches are very uneventful. They are in 17th position, two points above Cagliari that occupy the final relegation spot. On the road, they aren’t particularly bad: they have collected 11 points in nine matches, winning thrice, drawing twice and losing four matches. They play a basic 4-4-2. The only unavailable player is the Bostjan Cesar. Maran is set to field Nicolas Frey, Dario Dainelli, Andrea Gamberini and Ermin Zukanovic in the defense. Both fullbacks are capable of playing as centre-backs and this tells the whole story about the solidity of their back four. With the return of the starter Ivan Radovanovic from an injury, the coach has a number of options at his disposal in the midfield: Hetemaj-Izco-Radovanovic-Birsa is the most likely combo, Izco-Cofie-Radovanovic-Birsa the most defensive one, which can’t be discarded in this scenario, Schelotto-Izco-Hetemaj-Birsa the most offensive solution. Maxi Lopez has just left without being replaced, but Maran can use any combination of Alberto Paloschi, Riccardo Meggiorini and Sergio Pellissier. Ruben Botta has spent time has second-striker too, he could be a tactical weapon against Pirlo. Of course, it’s always possible that they’ll alter their usual scheme going with a more defensive solution: Maran is quite familiar with 3-5-2.Their two main weapons, if we can call them that way, are playing on the flanks (but they don’t have a tower waiting for crosses in the box) and feeding the strikers with long balls as they try to beat the offside trap: Paloschi is very good at doing that and Pellissier is experienced. Their midfield is very dynamic, they are mostly hustlers and there isn’t much creativity there. All things considered, the biggest challenge for Juventus will be finding the first goal. They are in a complicated situation considering their position in the table, but they are not yet in “desperate” mode. In the first match of the season, Juventus dominated in all phases of the game, scoring early with an own-goal by Cristian Biraghi, but failed to close the game and Chievo did have a chance to equalize with Maxi Lopez but Buffon was, as always, superb. Having also secured a berth in the Coppa Italia quarter-final with a victory over the same opponent—plus progress to the last 16 of the Champions League—the Bianconeri can reflect on a good start to 2014-15.A quirk in the schedule sees Verona’s other team, Chievo, travel to Turin this weekend, with Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri’s men hoping to add three more points to their tally. Buoyed by their first triumph in 14 years away to Napoli, the confidence of the reigning champions is currently extremely high.In contrast, their opponents sit in 17th place with the threat of relegation looming large behind them, bringing manager Rolando Maran’s job under heavy scrutiny. The coach was only appointed in October, and he has won just three of his 12 games in charge, continually struggling to earn the results they so desperately need.Over the following pages is a look at the key issues and decisions that will shape the encounter at the Juventus Stadium, looking closely at how each could affect the final result of Sunday’s match. Can Chievo Find a Way Score Against Juventus?Chievo’s biggest concern this season has been a serious lack of goals, with their attack the worst in Serie A as they have found the net just 14 times in their first 19 matches. Leading scorer Alberto Paloschi has found the back of the net just four times. The former Milan striker is showing form poor in comparison with 2013-14, and Maran needs him to improve quickly.Sunday sees them pitted against the best defence in the league, with Juventus having conceded just nine times thus far. Despite injuries forcing constant changes to the lineup, the Bianconeri back line has been consistently superb in protecting goalkeeper Gigi Buffon. However, despite the captain recording 11 clean sheets, last week’s win over Hellas was his first shutout since the 0-0 draw with Atletico Madrid in early December. Will We See Another Gem from Paul Pogba? With his name the subject of constant speculation, Juventus moved to dismiss suggestions Paul Pogba was set to leave the club.“Our intention is to buy important players and not sell them,” director Beppe Marotta told Sky Sport Italia (h/t Football Italia), and the player’s form certainly makes him vital for the Bianconeri.Pogba has scored in each of his last three outings, with his volley against Napoli sparking the team to that historic win, as discussed in depth here. Playing a key role between attack and defence, the ability of the 21-year-old is incredible to witness and should prove too much for Chievo on Sunday. Can Chievo Maintain Their Own Impressive Defensive Record? While their attack has been seriously blunt, only five teams in Serie A have conceded fewer goals than the Veronese side. Leading scorer Carlos Tevez has scored 13 times already, just once fewer than Chievo’s entire total; the Argentinian is enjoying a stellar first half to the campaign. He was on target twice in last week’s win over Hellas, and this weekend’s opponents will be concerned after seeing the Bianconeri net 10 times in those two meetings with their neighbours. Maran will hope his defence can hold the champions at bay, but in their current form, that seems an unlikely prospect. Can Other Youngsters Shine for the Bianconeri? The rise of Pogba has seen Juventus earn a reputation for believing in young players, and the playing time afforded to Alvaro Morata and Kingsley Coman reinforces that opinion. The pair have the complete faith of Allegri, with the club allowing Sebastian Giovinco’s contract to expire thanks to their performances. However, both need to improve their productivity, with the Spaniard scoring just four league goals, and his French team-mate yet to net in Serie A. He did notch his first professional strike in the Coppa Italia win over Hellas, and he will hope to add more against Chievo.Allegri has rotated the side heavily in recent weeks, meaning both can expect playing time on Sunday, but it will be up to them to capitalise on that opportunity. http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The Flying Donkeys were experiencing somewhat of a resurgence under coach Rolando Maran where they lost only once in nine games and amassed 14 points. However, a last-gasp winner from from Fiorentina’s Khouma Babacar in their last outing denied the Gialloblu a hard-fought point, as the match finished 2-1.Juventus have completely dominated this fixture in recent times as the Old Lady has won the preceding five league matches and have not been beaten by the Flying Donkey’s since 2010. In fact that has been the Bianconeri’s only defeat to Chievo in the last 14 years, winning 16 of the past 23 encounters.During the corresponding meeting of this season Juventus enjoyed a 1-0 triumph in the opening round back in August, courtesy of an own goal from Cristiano Biraghi. For the match Massimiliano Allegri is expected to employ the same starting line-up as he did against Hellas Verona, with the exception of defender Stephan Lichtsteiner who could replace Martin Caceres.Arturo Vidal and Luca Marrone are both waiting to have their fitness evaluated and could feature on the bench. While there are no suspensions to speak of, Carlos Tevez, Paul Pogba, Claudio Marchisio and Lichtsteiner are all one match away from accruing a fifth yellow card.As for Chievo, boss Maran has an almost full squad to choose from and is likely to make a few changes after suffering that agonising loss to the Viola. Dario Dainelli will supersede the suspended Cesar, while Isaac Cofie and Riccardo Meggiorini will probably start at the expenses of Ezequiel Schelotto and captain Sergio Pellissier respectively.Form Guide: Juventus (D-D-W-D-W-W) Chievo (W-L-W-D-D-L)Expected Starting XisJuventus: Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Bonucci, Chiellini, Evra, Pirlo, Marchisio, Pogba, Pereyra, Tevez, MorataChievo: Bizzarri; Frey, Dainelli, Gamberini, Zukanovic; Birsa, Izco, Cofie, Hetemaj; Paloschi, Meggiorini http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Jan 24, 2014 Juventus striker Fernando Llorente insists there is no room for complacency from his side in the Serie A title race, despite the Turin giants having opened up a five-point lead over second-placed Roma.Massimiliano Allegri's men host Chievo on Sunday, with Roma set to visit Fiorentina later in the day. With that in mind, defending champions Juve will be eager to increase the pressure on Roma and Llorente knows the importance of sustaining momentum after three wins in a row in all competitions."Five points don't mean a thing," he told Sky Sport this week. "Roma are a great team, we know they want to win the Scudetto and we can't allow ourselves to ease off."We must keep working hard in order to give 100 per cent in every game and show our desire to taste further success."Llorente has lost his place in the Juve starting XI to Alvaro Morata in the last two matches - wins against Verona in the Coppa Italia and the league - but says the level of depth in the squad is crucial."Everyone is important in this team," he continued. "Alvaro possesses great qualities and can become a fine player. He just needs to knuckle down and keep doing what he’s doing."It was a useful breather for me because the most important moment of the season is on its way. Your body reacts better when you rest and that will be fundamental for the next game."Llorente has scored just four Serie A goals so far this term, but netted 11 of his 16 last season after the turn of the year and is targeting a repeat performance this time around."I hope I can do it again, it's my aim to reach those figures," he added. "I haven't scored many so far, but I've been involved in plenty of moves that have led to goals. Scoring is obviously important for a striker, but the team winning is even more crucial."Chievo have endured a difficult season so far and, while results have improved since picking up one win from their first 10 matches, they remain just two points above the relegation zone.Andrea Barzagli (foot) is nearing a return for Juve after steadily increasing his workload during the week, while Andrea Pirlo is a doubt after coming down with flu-like symptoms on Thursday.OPTA FACTSChievo have beaten Juventus only once in 23 previous meetings in Serie A (1-0 in January 2010).Juve have won their last five league games against Chievo. In Turin, the Old Lady are unbeaten against Chievo (8W 3D).Juventus have been trailing only for seven minutes so far in this Serie A campaign (excl. injury time).Chievo are unbeaten in their last four games on the road (2W 2D) – their longest run since 2009.Juventus have the best attack of the Serie A season (42 goals scored), Chievo have the worst (only 14).Only four of Chievo’s 14 goals have been scored in the first half.Juventus have scored the most goals in the opening 15 minutes of play (nine).LAST FIVE MATCHESJuventus W W W D L18/01/2015 - Juventus 4 - 0 Hellas Verona15/01/2015 - Juventus 6 - 1 Hellas Verona11/01/2015 - Napoli 1 - 3 Juventus06/01/2015 - Juventus 1 - 1 Internazionale Milano22/12/2014 - Juventus 2 - 2 NapoliChievo L D D W L18/01/2015 - Chievo Verona 1 - 2 Fiorentina11/01/2015 - Atalanta 1 - 1 Chievo Verona06/01/2015 - Chievo Verona 0 - 0 Torino21/12/2014 - Hellas Verona 0 - 1 Chievo Verona15/12/2014 - Chievo Verona 0 - 2 Internazionale MilanoHEAD TO HEAD30/08/2014 - Chievo Verona 0 - 1 Juventus16/02/2014 - Juventus 3 - 1 Chievo Verona25/09/2013 - Chievo Verona 1 - 2 Juventus03/02/2013 - Chievo Verona 1 - 2 Juventus22/09/2012 - Juventus 2 - 0 Chievo Verona http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The Turin giants are five points clear of Roma at the top of Serie A heading into the halfway point of the season. Juve beat Hellas Verona 4-0 last weekend in Serie A having three days earlier demolished the same opponents 6-1 to reach the Coppa Italia quarter-finals. ``It was very important to beat Hellas on Sunday,'' Llorente told the Italian press. ``We are five points clear of Roma but there is a long way to go. ``Roma have proved they are a very good side. ``We just have to focus on ourselves and continue on our path. ``Every game is challenging and if you relax for a minute you can pay the price.'' Juve have lost just once in 19 league games. The Bianconeri boast the best attack and defence in the competition, with the Turin giants having found the back of the net 42 times while only conceding nine goals. Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri is expected to keep changes to the side that beat Hellas to a minimum, although defender Stephan Lichtsteiner and midfielder Arturo Vidal have recovered from injury and are in line to start. Chievo coach Rolando Maran is aware his side will need to be at their very best if they are to end Juve's unbeaten run at home this season. ``We know we face a very difficult game,'' Maran said. ``We cannot afford to make any mistakes because Juve will take no time in making us pay. ``We have to make the most of our chances and put Juve under pressure.'' Chievo go into the encounter on the back of last weekend's 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina. The Flying Donkeys have not come out triumphant since December 21 and are 17th in the standings, just two points clear of the drop zone. The visitors will be without experienced defender Bostjan Cesar, who serves a one-match ban.http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

It kicks off tomorrow at 15.00 CET. “Every game from now to the end of the season will be important, the next one up above all,” said the Coach in his Press conference. “There are so many victories still missing for us to achieve our final objective. The important thing is to be top of the table on May 31. “Of course, it’s better to be eight clear than five behind... If you draw two games, the ones behind you will start to catch up. “We must try to give our best performances to get the results. It won’t be so easy tomorrow, as don’t forget that Chievo were very close to beating Fiorentina. They are very dangerous on the counter-attack, so tactical intensity is crucial. “At the end of the day, we’ll see if we did enough to win. There are many games to go this season and we cannot afford to make calculations.” Andrea Barzagli has resumed training with the rest of the squad for the first time this season after an Achilles tendon injury. “He’s a long way off being able to play, but he’ll be on the bench tomorrow. Sebastian Giovinco is a Juventus player until June and that is how I consider him. There are no problems.” Andrea Pirlo and Gigi Buffon were suffering from flu this week, so the midfielder will need a fitness test. Allegri met with Italy Coach Conte on Friday, but insisted it was no different to his other encounters with club tacticians around the country. “I saw nothing strange or significant about it. This was a normal meeting, just as he did with the other teams. It was routine, just as Prandelli used to. “We exchanged ideas, but didn’t really have time to talk much, as I had to take the training session.”http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

They have won back-to-back games, and in Carlos Tevez, who scored another two last week, they possess the League’s most prolific marksman. It being January, they must also be pleased not to have had too much serious speculation regarding Paul Pogba’s future to contend with, though Marcello Lippi has recently suggested it is in their interest to sell him.The World Cup winner favours accepting an offer from one of Pogba’s many suitors and reinvesting in the squad, as he did in the aftermath of Zinedine Zidane’s transfer to Real Madrid in 2001.Nonetheless, while the Bianconeri will see this match as an opportunity to extend their lead over Roma - who face a difficult trip to Fiorentina - to eight points at the top, Chievo are currently treading water at the foot of the table.Boštjan Cesar is suspended, but the Gialloblu have taken to the transfer market, purchasing Danish midfielder Anders Christiansen. Immediately handed the No 10 jersey, he has experience of facing Juventus from a recent Champions League campaign, when his Nordsjælland side earned a 0-0 draw in Denmark before suffering defeat in Turin.Coach Rolando Maran acknowledges that, given their current struggle, ‘the road to salvation is long’, but has spoken of an evident fighting spirit within his group. This must translate to the pitch immediately if they are to come away from this clash with anything, though news that Andrea Pirlo and Gigi Buffon are among the Juve players to have been struck down by flu may just foreshadow an unlikely outcome. Keep an eye on: Alvaro Morata (Juventus) – The Spanish striker has been told to ‘knuckle down’ this week by colleague and compatriot Fernando Llorente. Predicted to start against Chievo, he and Llorente will both be concerned by rumours linking attackers Stevan Jovetić, Simone Zaza and Luiz Adriano to the club.Form guide: Juventus (D W D W W), Chievo (L W D D L)Last season: Juventus 3-1 ChievoStat fact: Juventus have been named as one of the world’s 10 richest clubs, with an annual revenue of €279.4m.Juventus (probable): Buffon; Lichsteiner, Bonucci, Chiellini, Evra; Marchisio, Pirlo, Pogba; Vidal; Tevez, MorataSuspended: NoneChievo (probable): Bizzarri; Frey, Dainelli, Gamberini, Zukanovic; Birsa, Izco, Hetemajn, Schelotto; Paloschi, MeggioriniSuspended: Cesar http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Jan 24, 2014 Andrea Barzagli could make his first appearance of the season in Juventus' Serie A clash with Chievo on Sunday. Italy defender Barzagli has not played since his country's final World Cup game against Uruguay last June due to a troublesome heel problem. The 33-year-old underwent surgery on the injury in July, before suffering a setback in his recovery when a stress fracture was discovered three months later. However, Barzagli could be in line to make his first Juve appearance since last May when Chievo visit Turin this weekend. Speaking at his pre-match media briefing on Saturday, Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri said: "Andrea Barzagli will be in my squad. "He's still a while away from peak condition, but is coming on well." Allegri also confirmed that playmaker Andrea Pirlo has returned to training after suffering a bout of flu. The 35-year-old is to be monitored on Saturday before Allegri decides whether to select him against Chievo - a side he warns could prove a real threat on the break. "Tomorrow [sunday] won't be easy. Chievo are in good physical shape, very dangerous on the counter and have a smart coach," he said. "Every game is important from now until the end of the season. We can't afford to put a foot wrong, we have many wins to go." Antonio Conte has admitted he could be tempted by a return to the Juventus dugout and speculation over a shock comeback for the former coach threatened to grow when he attended the club's training ground. Allegri, however, says the visit was harmless. "Conte's appearance in Vinovo was a routine visit in his role as Italy coach," he explained. Sebastian Giovinco has agreed to join Toronto at the end of the season when his Juve contract expires, but Allegri is adamant he will still count on the forward for the remainder of the campaign. "Giovinco is a Juventus player until the end of June and I'll treat him as such. There are no problems there whatsoever," he added.http://www.goal.com/en/results-standings/69/italy-serie-a/table?ICID=SP_TN_111 Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The Flying Donkeys, who currently sit just two points outside of the relegation zone, will be facing off against the Bianconeri in Turin on Sunday and the tactician admits that overcoming the hosts will be very difficult for his squad, but believes that the chance to do well against a great team like Juve will motivate his men to put in a proper performance. Maran spoke to La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport on Saturday about how he expects Chievo to play against Juventus and commented on the club’s main objective for the remainder of the season. “It will be very difficult, but because of this it will be more stimulating,” said the 51-year-old. “We like playing against champion teams, but we will have to overcome our anxieties and be proactive and fearless while dealing with them on the field. “They are strong, everyone knows this. The secret of Chievo is to be able to make certain aspects of the game, which would be simple against anyone else, complicated. “We need to have a sense of belonging and the common belief that no one can take anything away from us. “Our objectives?
