Immobile blames Tevez for derby controversy .oddio

The prolific attacker feels that the Argentine should have refrained from publishing
the picture of his injured ankle that saw him cop a lot of flak from fans and pundits.

Torino striker Ciro Immobile has hit out at Juventus star Carlos Tevez for his role in the wave of criticism the 24-year-old received earlier this season after a foul on the Argentine attacker.

http://markting10.nl/

The former Bianconeri forward was panned by fans and pundits alike following his reckless challenge in the Granata's derby defeat to their city rivals back in September.

However, the forward feels things would not have got out of hand had Tevez resisted the urge to publish a picture of his injured ankle.

"It was not a nice thing of him to do toward me to put that photo up on Twitter," Immobile told Sky Italia.

http://markting10.nl/

"Just think about it: I never wanted to injure him. I'm not that kind of player.

"He put up that photo and then it all kicked off. A lot of bad things happened and I was pictured as if I was some murderer.

http://markting10.nl/

"He could have refrained from putting up that picture and all this would not have happened."

Torino and Juventus meet again on Sunday in the second Derby della Mole of the season.

Immobile: 'Tevez made me look bad'

Feb 21, 2014

Torino striker Ciro Immobile blamed Carlos Tevez for being “treated like a killer” after he posted photos of his swollen ankle.

http://markting10.nl/

The Derby della Mole is on Sunday at 17.30 GMT, click here for a match preview.

In their last meeting, Immobile hacked down Tevez with a late tackle and the Juventus star posted a picture of the damage on Twitter, asking how it didn’t warrant a red card.

“In all honesty, I was very disappointed to see those photographs, because it wasn’t nice towards me, regardless of the foul,” Immobile told Sky Sport Italia.

http://markting10.nl/

“Tevez is a colleague and naturally I didn’t intend to hurt him. I certainly didn’t go into that challenge trying to break his ankle.

“I was sad to see he posted those photos, because people started to treat me like a killer. If he hadn’t put those pictures up on Twitter, then it might not have happened.”

It was also awkward for the clubs, as Immobile is a Juventus youth product who is still owned by the Bianconeri.

Tevez bites back at Immobile:
I was defending Juventus

The striker insists he does not hold a grudge against the Granata forward,
who left the Argentine with ankle damage after September's Derby della Mole.

Feb 22, 2014

Juventus forward Carlos Tevez has stressed he was not attempting to land Ciro Immobile in hot water by publishing photos of an injury inflicted by the Torino striker.

http://markting10.nl/

Immobile was roundly criticised for a lunging challenge on Tevez in September's Derby della Mole that prompted the Argentine to post pictures of his damaged ankle online.

Earlier this week, Immobile argued Tevez was trying to fan the flames of controversy by taking the matter onto Twitter, but Tevez insists he was simply hitting back at Torino supporters who were angry that he was not flagged offside prior to Paul Pogba's winning goal in the September encounter.

"I didn't post them to go against him. It was nothing against Immobile," the former Manchester City striker told Sky Italia.

http://markting10.nl/

"The problem was the Torino fans were angry at the offside goal and then I posted the photo. They always say referees are wrong in favour of Juventus, but I do not agree and wanted to show that sometimes things go against us.

"I wasn't angry with Immobile; fouls are a part of football. But I was always against those who criticise Juventus for things that go in our favour."

Juventus host Torino this Sunday in the second Derby della Mole of the season and Tevez feels Thursday's Europa League win over Trabzonspor will see the Bianconeri approach the game full of belief.

http://markting10.nl/

"Our Europa League victory gives us a lot of confidence and we are happy with the result, even if it doesn't allow us to relax," he said.

"The second leg holds dangers, so we must maintain a high level of concentration. The atmosphere in Turkey is always incandescent, so it won't be at all easy.

"I felt very tired after the game, but I'll make sure I am ready for the derby. I can't wait to get on the field on Sunday."

Juventus-Torino Preview: Bianconeri looking
to heap more derby-day misery on Granata

The Italian champions have not suffered a Serie A defeat to their city rivals since April 1995
and, with the benefit of home advantage, will be confident of extending that run.

Feb 22, 2014

Juventus welcome near neighbours Torino on Sunday aiming to extend a 15-match unbeaten league run against their fierce rivals.

http://markting10.nl/

The defending Serie A champions have not lost to their city rivals in Serie A since a 2-1 defeat in April 1995, with the Bianconeri's most recent success a 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture last September.

Paul Pogba's solitary strike was enough to settle the encounter at Stadio Olimpico on that occasion and Torino will be desperate to change recent history at Juventus Stadium on Sunday.

However, the task will be no easy feat, considering the hosts have won all 12 of their home league games this season, including a straightforward 3-1 triumph over Chievo last time out in Serie A.

http://markting10.nl/

That victory marked the first of three home matches in the space of seven days for Antonio Conte's men, who beat Turkish outfit Trabzonspor 2-0 in the Europa League on Thursday.

Pablo Daniel Osvaldo opened his Juve account on his first start for the club in the first half, while Pogba ensured a comfortable lead heading into next week's return leg in the last-32 tie.

Juventus will take further confidence against Giampiero Ventura's men considering the runaway league leaders have not tasted defeat in Serie A since a 4-2 reverse at Fiorentina in October, some 16 matches ago.

http://markting10.nl/

That remains Juve's only league defeat of the campaign, with the odds further stacked in home side's favour to continue that record.

But Torino approach the game in buoyant mood themselves, following a 3-1 victory at fellow European hopefuls Verona last weekend.

The impressive victory leaves Torino seventh in Serie A, just three points adrift of a Europa League spot.

http://markting10.nl/

The Granata have also shown a marked improvement on the road in recent weeks, with three wins in their last five away Serie A matches.

That followed just a solitary win in their opening seven fixtures away from Stadio Olimpico and Ventura's men may cause an upset against Juve.

Defenders Giorgio Chiellini (thigh) and Andrea Barzagli (muscle) are doubtful for Juventus, while striker Mirko Vucinic is definitely out with a knee problem. Torino could be once again without forward Barreto (knock).

Tevez 'can't wait' for Turin Derby

Feb 22, 2014

Carlos Tevez “can’t wait” for Sunday’s Derby della Mole, despite feeling the strain from Juventus’ Euro commitments.

http://markting10.nl/

The Turin Derby kicks off at the unusual time of 18.30 CET.

On Thursday evening the Bianconeri beat Trabzonspor 2-0 in the first leg of their Round of 32 tie.

“Our Europa League victory gives us a lot of confidence and we are happy with the result, even if it doesn’t allow us to relax,” Apache told Sky Sport Italia.

http://markting10.nl/

“The second leg holds dangers, so we must maintain a high level of concentration. The atmosphere in Turkey is always incandescent, so it won’t be remotely easy.

“I felt very tired after the game, but I’ll make sure I am ready for the derby. I can’t wait to get on the field on Sunday.”

Llorente bullish for Turin Derby

Feb 22, 2014

Fernando Llorente praises Antonio Conte and Juventus, prepares for the Derby della Mole and forgives Tuttosport.

http://markting10.nl/

The Turin derby is on Sunday at the unusual time of 18.30 CET.

He spoke to Tuttosport and forgave them for an early headline doubting his credentials for the club.

“I remember that huge headline in September: ‘Is Llorente only handsome and nothing else?’ I didn’t take it badly, as I immediately understood the spirit of the question.

http://markting10.nl/

“I wasn’t playing and people were wondering where I’d got too. Conte knew I needed a lot of physical work to reach the right form. He did an incredible job with me, able to wait for the perfect moment to let me play.”
Llorente is expected to start tomorrow’s big game and doesn’t fear the atmosphere.

“Believe me, I’ve already experienced some fiery derbies. I know how they work. With nine years at Athletic Bilbao I had many extraordinary clashes with Real Sociedad in the Basque Derby. There are also big social and political implications around the sporting rivalry too.

“I’d love to score in the derby, because I just love these passionate, long-awaited and different fixtures. They are special, so every goal in them is also special. I know how much the fans care.

http://markting10.nl/

“In a way, the ‘bull’ is in my destiny, as I always loved the bull-fights and would dress up as a matador when I was a kid.”

The tall Spaniard has formed an impressive partnership with Carlos Tevez, though explains their differences are what make them work.

“We are very different and perhaps that is also why we make such a good pair. He is more aggressive, moves more, is shorter and you can sense his hunger to score goals. We don’t hang out off the field, but between training and games I spend more time with Tevez than my own girlfriend!”

http://markting10.nl/

Juventus face Torino tomorrow, then visit Trabzonspor for the second leg of the Europa League Round of 32 on Thursday.

“We are using up a lot of energy at the moment, but it’ll be useful for the sprint finish in the long run. We mustn’t do something really stupid to throw away everything we’ve built so far,” continued Llorente.

“Fortunately I was prepared for Conte’s methods, as Marcelo Bielsa also worked his players very hard. Juve is an incredible opportunity for me, so I must prove who I am and what I’m worth. I want to prove I’m up to this task.

http://markting10.nl/

“Conte is such a great Coach. He brings with him the experience of a player, so he sees things before they happen in the game. He warns you in advance, so you’re on your toes. He lives football and passes on this gigantic energy and desire to win.

“I am curious to see what he was like as a player. I’ll have to look up clips on YouTube. Occasionally he’ll tell us an anecdote about when he was a player to help us understand the situation.

“In the locker room we’re like a single block of concrete, which is another key to our success. It’s pretty unusual in football to find such a united dressing room atmosphere. I share a room with Paul Pogba before games and he always makes me laugh, helping to overcome tension. He knows the potential he’s got and can win the Ballon d’Or one day.”

MATCH PREVIEW

Feb 22, 2014

High-flying Turin rivals Juventus and Torino clash in the most eagerly anticipated Derby della Mole in more than a decade.

http://markting10.nl/

The Bianconeri returned to the winners list against Chievo last Sunday. The game looked to be taking the same pattern as against Verona seven days earlier – two early goals, from Kwadwo Asamoah and Claudio Marchisio – followed by the Gialloblu making Juve sweat. Yet they would not squander the lead this time. After Martin Caceres’ own goal, Fernando Llorente nodded home the third.

It has been a busy week for Antonio Conte. Amid preparing his side for their Europa League victory over Trabzonspor, he was also embroiled in an emotional war of words with Fabio Capello. Conte did not take too kindly to Capello’s perceived criticisms. It is not the ideal preparation for a derby of this magnitude.

Giorgio Chiellini, Simone Pepe and Mirko Vucinic will not take part in the Mole showdown, while Andrea Barzagli may only be fit enough for the bench.

http://markting10.nl/

Torino are enjoying their best campaign in more than two decades. A shock loss to Bologna aside, the Granata are flying. Last Monday they recovered from Luca Toni’s first half penalty to win 3-1 at Verona. Ciro Immobile, Alessio Cerci and Omar El Khaddouri all netted in a devastating 12 minute blitz to see Toro climb to joint sixth position.

The Granata are only outside the European zone by three points, highlighting their amazing season to date. Coach Giampiero Ventura sees a group which continues to mature, but El Kaddouri has warned that securing their Serie A status remains the main priority. Ending their long-standing drought against the Bianconeri is another.

Alessandro Gazzi and Paulo Barreto are sidelined through injury, otherwise it’s mostly the same XI which has shot Toro into European contention.

http://markting10.nl/

Torino’s only Juventus Stadium visit ended in a heavy three-goal defeat. In Juventus-hosted derbies, the Old Lady hold a commanding lead of 34 wins to 16, with 18 draws.

Keep an eye on: Ciro Immobile (Torino) – Co-owned by the two clubs, Torino’s in-form striker knows the importance of this fixture. Immobile is also enjoying a golden run, scoring eight goals in his last eight Serie A games. Juve’s defence has been somewhat fragile in recent matches and he will look to take advantage.

Form guide: Juventus (W D W D W) Torino (W W D L W)

Last season: Juventus 3-0 Torino

http://markting10.nl/

Stat fact: Torino last defeated Juventus in 1994-95 – enduring a barren Mole spell of 15 matches without a win. They haven’t even scored in the last nine encounters.

JUVENTUS (probable): Buffon; Caceres, Bonucci, Ogbonna; Lichtsteiner, Vidal, Pirlo, Marchisio, Asamoah; Tevez, Llorente

TORINO (probable): Padelli; Maksimovic, Glik, Moretti; Darmian, Vives, Farnerud, El Kaddouri, Masiello; Cerci, Immobile

Barzagli back, Chiellini out

Feb 22, 2014

Andrea Barzagli is back for Juventus against Torino, but Giorgio Chiellini misses out on the Derby della Mole.

http://markting10.nl/

It kicks off on Sunday at 18.30 CET.

Chiellini has still not recovered from a calf injury he picked up against Verona, though Barzagli does return to the back three.

Mirko Vucinic and Simone Pepe are more long-term absentees.

Juventus squad for Torino: Buffon, Caceres, Ogbonna, Pogba, Marchisio, Tevez, Giovinco, Peluso, Llorente, Barzagli, Osvaldo, Bonucci, Padoin, Pirlo, Asamoah, Vidal, Lichtsteiner, Quagliarella, Storari, Isla, Rubinho

Marchisio: Juventus never tire
of beating Torino

The Juventus midfielder insists that his side never tire of securing a win over
their local rivals and intends to add another victory when the two teams meet on Sunday.

Feb 23, 2014

Claudio Marchisio has fired a warning to Torino ahead of Sunday's derby, claiming that Juventus can never get bored of beating them.

http://markting10.nl/

The Bianconeri boast an impressive record against their neighbours, with Toro losing their previous five Serie games against them and failing to register a victory in the derby since 1995.

However, Giampiero Ventura's side go into the game with confidence after their 3-1 win over Hellas Verona last week pushed them into sixth, just three points behind Inter in the final Europa League spot.

Speaking ahead of the encounter though, Marchisio stressed that there was no doubting the desire of the Old Lady to collect another three points against the side they overcame 1-0 in September's derby.

http://markting10.nl/

"With Juve I've played and taken some great satisfaction from winning in the derby," the 28-year-old Italian told the club's official YouTube channel.

"There's only one problem - it's not enough for us. It's never enough!"

http://markting10.nl/

Juventus have won all 12 of their Serie A home games this season and go into the fixture with no sign of their form waning after securing a 2-0 last-32 Europa League win over Trabzonspor on Thursday.

The defending champions sit top of the league with 63 points from 24 games, six ahead of second-placed Roma.

Garcia: Roma ready for Juve slip-ups

Feb 23, 2014

Rudi Garcia hailed Roma’s “very important victory” at Bologna and hopes Juventus can trip up in the Turin Derby.

http://markting10.nl/

The 1-0 result at the Stadio Dall’Ara was earned with a Radja Nainggolan goal, though they also ran some huge risks in stoppages.

“It is a very important victory and that is all that matters,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

Juventus are six points in front and face local rivals Torino in the Derby della Mole on Sunday.

http://markting10.nl/

“Anything can happen in a derby. The levels of the two teams no longer matter, as it’s just the pride to win and not lose.

“We’ve done our bit for this weekend and can watch what the others do now. Will Juve slow down? I played in Europe many times with Lille and know it takes up a lot of energy. It’s tough after a European fixture.

“We do not play midweek and we’ve got to make the most of that fact.”

Cairo: 'My Juve-Immobile proposal'

Feb 23, 2014

Torino President Urbano Cairo urged Juventus to leave them Ciro Immobile for another season. “It will send his price-tag through the roof.”

http://markting10.nl/

It is unusual for the rivals to do business, but Immobile has been a revelation since joining Toro in a co-ownership deal this summer, scoring 13 Serie A goals.

“Giampiero Ventura was convinced he could do well here and I have a proposal for Juve: they should leave him with Toro for another year,” Cairo told La Stampa newspaper.

http://markting10.nl/

“It is a choice that will suit the lad, because he’s happy with us, and suits Juventus because another season like this will send his price-tag through the roof.

“If Beppe Marotta were to say no, then I’d go to a blind auction. It’s not an option that I like, but I am not the type to hold back.”

If two clubs cannot agree on either a renewal of a co-ownership or for one side to buy out the other, then they go to a blind auction at the end of the season.

http://markting10.nl/

This is when both clubs put a figure into a sealed envelope and the highest bid wins the remaining 50 per cent of his contract.

Torino’s other star striker, Alessio Cerci, is also only co-owned with Fiorentina.

“I will try to give him a reason to stay, though so far nobody has come forward asking me to negotiate,” noted Cairo.

http://markting10.nl/

“I hope he won’t ask me to listen to proposals. Of course, if a big club did come in for him, I wouldn’t try to clip his wings, just as I didn’t with Angelo Ogbonna.

“I want Cerci to stay because he is one of those players the fans are proud to have in their side.”

Line-ups: Juventus-Torino

Feb 23, 2014

Juventus host Torino in the Derby della Mole with Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente against Ciro Immobile and Alessio Cerci.

http://markting10.nl/

It kicks off at the unusual time of 18.30 CET.

This could be the most evenly-matched Turin Derby for decades, as the Granata are in joint sixth place and have nothing to lose.

Immobile – co-owned by Juventus – and Cerci have netted 24 Serie A goals between them this season.

http://markting10.nl/

Omar El Kaddouri is on loan from Napoli and is in midfield with Jasmin Kurtic, while Cesare Bovo is preferred to Nikola Maksimovic.

Salvatore Masiello was in the starting XI, but is replaced by Giovanni Pasquale after suffering an injury during the warm-up.

On the other hand, the Bianconeri are without the injured Giorgio Chiellini, Mirko Vucinic and Simone Pepe, though Andrea Barzagli returns to the back three after a calf problem.

http://markting10.nl/

Martin Caceres is preferred to Angelo Ogbonna despite being more of a full-back.

They risk fatigue after Thursday’s 2-0 Europa League victory over Trabzonspor and have to consider squad rotation ahead of next week’s second leg in Turkey.

Nonetheless, there is no rest for Tevez and Llorente, who have between them scored 23 Serie A goals.

http://markting10.nl/

Andrea Pirlo pulls the midfield strings with Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal.

Torino haven’t won this fixture since a Ruggiero Rizzitelli brace in April 1995 and haven’t even scored for 12 years.

Juve have conceded in their last six Serie A games, whereas Toro kept five clean sheets during the same period.

HT 1-0: Tevez opens Turin Derby

Feb 23, 2014

Carlos Tevez turned his marker to give Juventus the half-time lead against Torino in an exciting Derby della Mole.

http://markting10.nl/

This was perhaps the most evenly-matched Turin Derby for decades, as the Granata were flying high in joint sixth place. The Bianconeri were also fatigued after Thursday’s Europa League 2-0 victory over Trabzonspor, but hadn’t lost this fixture since April 1995. Giorgio Chiellini, Mirko Vucinic and Simone Pepe were sidelined, but Andrea Barzagli returned after a calf problem. Ciro Immobile started against the club that co-owns his contract and already netted 13 in Serie A this season. Salvatore Masiello pulled out during the warm-up, replaced by Giovanni Pasquale.

Juve had conceded in each of the last six rounds, whereas Toro had five clean sheets during the same period.

Alessio Cerci robbed Kwadwo Asamoah to spark a counter, but Jasmin Kurtic’s cross-shot was between Ciro Immobile and the upright. Daniele Padelli smothered a long-range Andrea Pirlo snapshot, but Omar El Kaddouri threatened with a lob over the bar from Immobile’s assist.

http://markting10.nl/

Padelli got down well to parry a Carlos Tevez strike from the edge of the box, but Arturo Vidal was booked after 13 minutes and will be suspended for next week’s showdown with Milan.

Immobile ran on to an El Kaddouri slide-rule pass and hit the side-netting, but he thumped it so hard that the support broke and play was halted for a few minutes while it was fixed.

Pirlo tried to turn a free kick under the wall, but it didn’t jump sufficiently to let the ball through. The midfield maestro took a different tack from a tight angle, curling his set play just over the bar.

http://markting10.nl/

Jasmin Kurtic got on the end of a Mattia Darmian pull-back only to volley over from 10 yards in a good chance for the Granata.

Juventus broke through moments later, as Tevez controlled Asamoah’s pass just outside the box and flicked it into the air as he turned round, immediately smashing it into the near bottom corner of the net. Apache seemed to have a radar for where the goal was, even when facing the other way.

Gigi Buffon smothered a Kamil Glik header from a corner, while Padelli punched away another Pirlo free kick. Cesare Bovo blasted a free kick over the bar after Vidal’s handling offence risked a second yellow.

Tevez decides Derby della Mole
in Bianconeri's favour

The Argentina international scored the only goal of the game
as Antonio Conte's men restored their nine-point lead over Scudetto rivals Roma.

Feb 23, 2014

Carlos Tevez's sweet strike saw Juventus claim a 1-0 victory over Torino in Sunday's Derby della Mole.

http://markting10.nl/

The Argentine fired home in the 30th minute to not only move the reigning Serie A champions nine points clear of second-placed Roma but also become the league's joint-top goalscorer with Giuseppe Rossi, on 14.

It is now 19 years and 16 matches since Torino won against their illustrious rivals, and they have failed to even register a goal against Juve since a 2-2 draw in February 2002.

Tevez's first-half goal proved the difference between the two sides, the Argentine being afforded too much space on the edge of the area to turn and fire a low shot beyond the despairing dive of Daniele Padelli.

http://markting10.nl/

Goalmouth action was rare from that moment on with the visitors, who in Alessio Cerci and Ciro Immobile boasted a forward line with 24 league goals to its credit this season, offering very little in attack.

The win extends Juve's unbeaten league run to 17 matches and sent them nine points clear of second-placed Roma, although Rudi Garcia's side have played a game fewer.

Antonio Conte's side extended their perfect league record at Juventus Stadium with the win, but it was the visitors who threatened first, Omar El Kaddouri lobbing an effort just over the crossbar after bursting through the middle in the 10th minute.

http://markting10.nl/

The hosts responded immediately, Tevez bringing a smart save out of Padelli with a stinging effort a minute later.

Andrea Pirlo curled a free-kick onto the roof of the net from the left-hand edge of the penalty area, two minutes before Tevez broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark.

The Argentina international picked up Kwadwo Asamoah's pass 20 yards from goal before swivelling on the ball and arrowing a shot into the bottom left-hand corner for his 14th league goal of the campaign.

http://markting10.nl/

Matteo Darmian thumped an effort straight at Gianluigi Buffon from 30 yards at the start of the second half before the next 20 minutes followed a familiar pattern, with Torino content to let their opponents have the ball for large spells.

Tevez threatened a second midway through the half, but Padelli was quick to rush from his line and block his attempt as the forward looked to turn home a bouncing ball.

The visitors had a penalty appeal waved away in the 80th minute when El Kaddouri felt he was tripped by Pirlo inside the box, but the referee waved play on and the visitors failed to create any chances of note in the closing stages as their miserable run against their city rivals continued.

Tevez decides the Turin Derby

Carlos Tevez decided the Derby della Mole for Juventus,
and Torino were denied a late penalty on Omar El Kaddouri.

10ru8gi.jpg

Feb 23, 2014

This was perhaps the most evenly-matched Turin Derby for decades, as the Granata were flying high in joint sixth place. The Bianconeri were also fatigued after Thursday’s Europa League 2-0 victory over Trabzonspor, but hadn’t lost this fixture since April 1995. Giorgio Chiellini, Mirko Vucinic and Simone Pepe were sidelined, but Andrea Barzagli returned after a calf problem. Ciro Immobile started against the club that co-owns his contract and already netted 13 in Serie A this season. Salvatore Masiello pulled out during the warm-up, replaced by Giovanni Pasquale.

http://markting10.nl/

Juve had conceded in each of the last six rounds, whereas Toro had five clean sheets during the same period.

Alessio Cerci robbed Kwadwo Asamoah to spark a counter, but Jasmin Kurtic’s cross-shot was between Ciro Immobile and the upright. Daniele Padelli smothered a long-range Andrea Pirlo snapshot, but Omar El Kaddouri threatened with a lob over the bar from Immobile’s assist.

Padelli got down well to parry a Carlos Tevez strike from the edge of the box, but Arturo Vidal was booked after 13 minutes and will be suspended for next week’s showdown with Milan.

http://markting10.nl/

Immobile ran on to an El Kaddouri slide-rule pass and hit the side-netting, but he thumped it so hard that the support broke and play was halted for a few minutes while it was fixed.

Pirlo tried to turn a free kick under the wall, but it didn’t jump sufficiently to let the ball through. The midfield maestro took a different tack from a tight angle, curling his set play just over the bar.

Jasmin Kurtic got on the end of a Mattia Darmian pull-back only to volley over from 10 yards in a good chance for the Granata.

http://markting10.nl/

Juventus broke through moments later, as Tevez controlled Asamoah’s pass just outside the box and flicked it into the air as he turned round, immediately smashing it into the near bottom corner of the net. Apache seemed to have a radar for where the goal was, even when facing the other way.

Gigi Buffon smothered a Kamil Glik header from a corner, while Padelli punched away another Pirlo free kick. Cesare Bovo blasted a free kick over the bar after Vidal’s handling offence risked a second yellow.

Tevez came back out for the second half with strapping to his hand, as he had a suspected dislocated little finger. Darmian tried to surprise Buffon from 35 metres and Leonardo Bonucci charged down a Cerci effort, but both teams slowed the tempo down considerably.

http://markting10.nl/

Padelli performed a save on Llorente, who was offside anyway, and Bonucci was booked for felling El Kaddouri on the edge of the box. The Napoli-owned midfielder took it himself, curling over the bar.

Buffon caught Immobile’s deflected shot and moments later a lucky ricochet sent Tevez clear, but Padelli bravely charged him down from six yards.

Vidal again risked a second booking, so Antonio Conte rushed to replace him with Claudio Marchisio.

http://markting10.nl/

There was controversy on 80 minutes when El Kaddouri was tripped by Pirlo in the penalty area, but the referee had a great view of the incident and waved play on. The Toro man’s stuttering run might’ve confused the official, making it seem as if he was leaving his leg hanging there to find contact, as well as a rather overblown fall.

Juventus began to look tired in the closing stages as Toro poured forward.

Tevez gives Bianconeri derby delight

Feb 23, 2014

Juventus overcame Torino 1-0 at the Juventus Stadium on Sunday night in Serie A.

http://markting10.nl/

Carlos Tevez scored the only goal of the game with a volley to maintain Juve’s lead at the top of the table.

Torino had the first chance of the game with four minutes on the clock when Alessio Cerci darted from the right hand side, played the ball to Jasmin Kurtic whose attempt was deflected out for a corner.

Three minutes later and Juventus had a chance of their own when Andrea Pirlo’s dipping strike was saved by Daniele Padelli.

http://markting10.nl/

Torino had another chance this time through Omar El Kaddouri who latched onto a through pass but his attempted chip went over the bar.

Juventus responded minutes later when Tevez found himself some space and unleashed a shot but it was saved by Padelli.

Juve continued their attacking onslaught this time Kwadwo Asamoah tried to curl a shot with his weaker right foot but it went over the bar.

http://markting10.nl/

The Granata had another chance to make it 1-0 when Immobile blasted his shot into the side netting.

La Vecchia Signora opened the scoring through Tevez who received the ball with his back to the goal and with a quick twist and turn his half volley beat Padelli in the Toro goal.

At the start of the second half Juventus had another chance to make it 2-0, this time Fernando Llorente’s effort was saved by Padelli.

http://markting10.nl/

Toro could have equalisedwhen Omar El Kaddouri was awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box but the Moroccan international’a free-kick went over the bar.

Tevez had a chance to double his own tally and Juve’s lead following a mix-up in the Granata’s defence, but the Argentine’s finish was saved by Padelli.

http://markting10.nl/

The Granata had a penalty appeal denied ten minutes from time when El Kaddouri went down in the box, but the referee waved for play to resume.

Antonio Conte made a change late on to keep the score at 1-0 by withdrawing Llorente and putting Simone Padoin on.

Player Ratings

Carlos Tevez's fantastic strike keeps the Bianconeri's 100 per cent home record
in Serie A this season alive while opening up a nine-point advantage over Roma at the summit.

2ni8u3s.jpg

Feb 23, 2014

JUVENTUS

Gianluigi Buffon
- Had very little to do on the night, and was never really stretched by any of the Granata players. He will be please with a clean sheet.

Andrea Barzagli - Looked slightly out of sorts after three weeks out as he was outpaced and at times outjumped, contributing to Juve's vulnerability on the break.

Leonardo Bonucci - Was caught in possession on the half-way line early on, resulting in a chance for the visitors, but it was a rare blip in an otherwise impressive game at the heart of the defence.

Martín Cáceres - The Uruguayan did a good job defensively for the most part, though he did leave a bit too much space in the channels at times.

Stephan Lichtsteiner - Showed plenty of energy on the right flank and helped provide plenty of stability for his team in what was a tricky game.

Paul Pogba - The Frenchman was strong in the centre of the park, proving very dynamic as he chased back to defend and made late surges into the penalty area.

Andrea Pirlo - Dictated the game from midfield as he was afforded too much time and space. He pulled all the strings with quality distribution, though his set pieces let him down.

Arturo Vidal - The Chilean struggled to stamp his mark on the game and was often found just a few too many steps behind the action before being substituted.

Kwadwo Asamoah - Proved himself a very tricky opponent wide on the right, often doing well to create space for a shot or cross. He earned an assist for Tevez's goal.

CARLOS TÉVEZ - Continually evaded the defenders to receive the ball to feet and was a constant thorn in their side. He capped a great performance with a stunning goal.

Fernando Llorente - The Spaniard displayed his great ability to hold up the play and draw others into the action, regularly combining with Tevez. He did not test the keeper enough, though.

http://markting10.nl/

Substitutions

Claudio Marchisio
- Replaced Vidal in the 74th minute of the game.

Simone Padoin - Brought on for Llorente with one minute of normal time remaining.

Pablo Daniel Osvaldo - Came on for Tevez in the 91st minute.

http://markting10.nl/

TORINO

Daniele Padelli
- Made a couple of great saves from Tevez but there was little he could do to keep the Argentine's goal out of the bottom corner.

Cesare Bovo - The centre-back was too slow across the ground as he was regularly beaten for pace and found the quick feet of Tevez impossible to deal with.

Kamil Glik - The Torino captain organised his defence well and mopped up at the back efficiently while also proving a threat in the opposing penalty area.

Emiliano Moretti - Failed to cope with the ability of Tevez and Llorente, regularly letting them past him far too easily. He left the Argentine in too much space on the goal.

Matteo Darmian - Worked his socks off for the visitors, continually chasing up and down the right flank to offer an attacking outlet and help out defensively.

Jasmin Kurtić - Did a good job to push forward and support the forwards, getting into threatening areas but unfortunately his shooting left a lot to be desired.

Giuseppe Vives - Sat deep in midfield and attempted to track the runners through the middle, but he did not do enough to break apart the play.

Omar El Kaddouri - The Moroccan's passing was impressive all evening and he had a couple of great opportunities to find the net, however, his finishing let him down.

Giovanni Pasquale - Made some powerful runs down the left flank which did cause Juve some problems, but his end product frequently fell short of the mark.

Alessio Cerci - Proved dangerous when he dropped off the front in order to pick up the ball, but failed to create anything of note throughout the game.

Ciro Immobile - The striker broke the net with a ferocious strike in the first half but he never came closer to scoring, despite working hard and making a nuisance of himself.

http://markting10.nl/

Substitutions

Migjen Basha
- Came on for Kurtic in the 93rd minute.

Alexander Farnerud - Brought on for El Kaddouri with five minutes left to play.

Riccardo Meggiorini - Replaced Bovo in the 81st minute.

True champion Tevez made
the difference, says Buffon

The veteran goalkeeper has hailed the Argentine's ability to rise
to the big occasion, after the forward netted the only goal of the Derby della Mole.

Feb 23, 2014

Gianluigi Buffon has praised Carlos Tevez for his game-deciding contribution to Juventus' 1-0 Serie A win over Torino on Sunday evening.

http://markting10.nl/

The Argentina international settled the Derby della Mole in the Italian champions' favour with a fine first-half strike and his skipper was quick to highlight the striker's importance to the Bianconeri after the game.

"Tevez is a great player who helped us to the full three points in a difficult game with his goal," Buffon told Sky Sport Italia.

"These kinds of games are often decided by flashes of brilliance from true champions and we have a number of players like that in our team."

http://markting10.nl/

Buffon then went on to hail Torino for their good performance, but dismissed the Granata's claims that they should have been awarded a penalty when Andrea Pirlo appeared to trip Omar El Kaddouri in the area with just 10 minutes to go.

"Torino are going through a good season and this allowed them to start the game with a clear head," the Italy international mused.

"They deserve compliments for their display. It was a good game and a real derby.

http://markting10.nl/

"The referee was quite strict and blew his whistle a lot. But I don't think it was a penalty."

Juventus are once again nine points clear of second-placed Roma in the Serie A standings.

Initial reaction and random observations

474435095.0_standard_709.0.jpg

Feb 23, 2014

Sunday night wasn't Juventus' best game. Far from it, actually. Maybe it's because we've been spoiled with beatdown after beatdown of opponents on the domestic front the past few months, maybe it's something else entirely. But either way, Juve didn't resemble the dominating force that have run roughshod over Serie A the past past four months.

http://markting10.nl/

Because of all that, Juventus needed a moment of magic. They needed something to get them over the hump and into the lead once and for all.

Carlos Tevez provided it.

Tevez's 14th goal of the season not only moved him into a tie atop the Serie A scoring list with Giuseppe Rossi, but was the difference in Juventus' 1-0 win over city rival Torino in the Derby della Mole at Juventus Stadium. It was a simply stunning goal from a simply great player — one that has brought the two-time defending champions that extra something they've been missing under Antonio Conte.

http://markting10.nl/

And for further confirmation of that, we turn to captain Gigi Buffon, who himself is a pretty good player in his own right.

JuventusFC ✔ @juventusfcen
#Buffon: Top players make the difference in tricky games. @carlitos3210 was the one who decided today's #JuveTorino.

With the goal and the three points, Juve continued their derby dominance over Torino. But Sunday's match was anything but dominant. Both teams were sound defensively, limiting the potent attacks that each possess. It was just a defensive, tactical battle — one where Juve sat back and reacted to their opposition more than usual — in a hotly contested derby encounter.

http://markting10.nl/

That's not the first or the last time it will happen between Juventus and Torino. That's for damn sure.

Paolo Bandini @Paolo_Bandini
Juventus have not lost a Turin derby since 1995. They have not even conceded a goal to Torino since 2002.

And that couldn't have happened without the brilliance of Tevez. He sure has been one heck of a signing, huh.

http://markting10.nl/

Random thoughts and observations

• Nothing against Angelo Ogbonna, but how nice was it to have Andrea Barzagli and his glorious beard back in the starting lineup? I missed that guy.

• And the guy who switched over to the other side of the three-man defense with Barzagli's return, Martin Caceres, was pretty good in his own right against Torino. I'll say it over and over again: It's such a luxury to have somebody like Caceres just waiting in the wings whenever Juve need him to play. Will he make mistakes? Sure, but the overall end product — like how he seemingly shut down Alessio Cerci on Sunday — is almost always something that helps Juve win games.

JuventusFC ✔ @juventusfcen
#Conte: We did a good job in containing the threat of Cerci with Caceres and Asamoah. #JuveTorino

http://markting10.nl/

There was quite a bit of talk about the Cerci-Ciro Immobile partnership, almost as much as there was about how well Tevez and Fernando Llorente have played this season. But the two Toro strikers COMBINED for 50 touches against Juventus. Fifty total. For comparions sake, Andrea Pirlo had 97 touches in the game. Immobile and Cerci combined for five shots total — none of which were on target.

OptaPaolo @OptaPaolo
29 - Ciro Immobile had 29 ball touches in #JuveToro, only one more than Gianluigi Buffon (28). Disappointing.

• Just a question for the general public: How would you grade Tevez's goal celebration? I think I'd give it a solid 8 out of 10.

http://markting10.nl/

• Giampiero Ventura was, of course, talking about the non-penalty when Omar El Kaddouri thought he was tripped by Pirlo in the penalty area. Just one question for Ventura: While there was contact between El Kaddouri and Pirlo, did he happen to see the absolute mess of the tackle that his player made? That was as much of a flop as there ever was one. Better luck next time, Omar.

• Juventus unbeaten run update: 17 games, 44 goals scored, 9 goals allowed.

http://markting10.nl/

This has been a Juventus unbeaten run update.

• Sorry, Roma. We're back to plus 9.

Another controversial Derby della Mole
ends in a Juve victory

2pynv47.jpg

Feb 23, 2014

For the second time this season, Juventus beat Torino 1-0, but both victories have come via controversial circumstances. Whilst it was an offside goal last September that infuriated the home team, this time around Toro had a legitimate penalty appeal waved off. For much of the match the Old Lady may have proved superior, but their inability to close off the game quickly left them desperately defending until the final whistle.

http://markting10.nl/

Juventus started the match by displaying their strength and ability to possess the ball. Giampiero Ventura’s side, as we have come to expect from them in the big games, opted to sit deep, close down the spaces at the back and limit the chances offered to their opponents. By absorbing the pressure, they then awaited the opportunity to counter-attack or deliver a long ball to the likes of Alessio Cerci upfront in hopes of grabbing a vital goal.

These particular tactics made it somewhat dull, in a match that should have set pulses racing considering the attacking football both teams are capable of playing.

Juventus played their usual three men in midfield, but this time it was Arturo Vidal who was played on the left alongside Kwadwo Asamoah, whilst Paul Pogba sat on the other side, on the right. Predictably effective and fluid, they controlled the game without exerting too much energy, something one expects from a side forced to play every three days. The legs were heavy, the determination still there but the usual pizazz a little muted. Juve continued to play the way they know how, delivering those vertical balls through the middle in hopes of piercing their way through.

http://markting10.nl/

However, despite the fact Torino defended in numbers, they committed several errors to facilitate Juve’s route to goal. It was surprising how often the visitors conceded free-kicks in dangerous areas of the pitch, whilst they granted the likes of Carlos Tevez so much time on the ball to penetrate their overcrowded defence. Once they did manage to reclaim possession, they didn’t act fast enough or seem to have clear ideas going forward and thus allowed Juve the opportunity to quickly rearrange themselves defensively.

The Bianconeri by contrast, did an excellent job in halting the kind of danger their opponents can cause and made sure the ball was delivered to the forwards as opposed to forcing them to drop back and pick it up. Everything was done to avoid a Toro counter-attack and Juve did an excellent job in ensuring Cerci and Ciro Immobile received minimal service to impact the game.

It comes as no surprise that the man to score Juve’s goal is the best at roaming between the lines -- Torino’s greatest weakness. Tevez is the antidote to solid defending and the manner in which he turned and struck dazzled the most neutral of neutrals.

http://markting10.nl/

The early part of the second half went much the way it did in the first 45 minutes with Juventus controlling proceedings but that soon changed. Lulling the Old Lady into a false sense of security, Ventura’s men then raised their level of play and went on the attack with Giuseppe Vives taking more control of the game after the 65th minute.

The Bianconeri, tired from their European exploits midweek, were eventually forced to sit deep and defend; incapable of producing the energy required to mount an attack of their own. Conte went so far as to bolster the midfield and Juventus adopted a 5-4-1 shape. Thankfully, their defensive work proved good enough to preserve their 1-0 lead but they were lucky to get away without conceding a penalty. Replays show Pirlo clipped Omar El Kaddouri.

After a shaky defensive performance in recent games, and with the second half of the Verona game still haunting them, Juve did just enough to ensure all three points and earn their bragging rights.

http://markting10.nl/

Sadly the yellow card Vidal received means he will miss next week’s match against Milan and when Conte was asked about the problems the team may face without him, the coach quickly replied that what worries him more is the little time the squad will have to recover from their Europa League trip to Turkey. Juventus will only arrive back in Turin on Friday morning and will have to take on the Rossoneri on Sunday evening in San Siro. They will be exhausted to say the least.

Forced to rotate the squad, Juventus cannot afford to allow Trabzonspor the opportunity to show off their skills considering they will be playing at home, whilst a magnificent performance against Clarence Seedorf’s team is vital to ensure Juve keep up the pace and maintain the advantage over Roma. It’s an exhausting time for Italy’s champions.

Juventus vs. Torino: 6 Things We Learned

1z5pzwx.jpg

Feb 23, 2014

The match ended as it has since 2008: with a win for Juventus. Again, Torino failed to score against against them, a drought now dating 12 years. The derby is the oldest in Italy and also the most lopsided, and Juventus may regard Fiorentina, the team that inflicted their only loss in Serie A, as a bigger rival. Those two face each other in two weeks.

http://markting10.nl/

This wasn’t a classic. Both teams traded chances, and like any derby, there were needless fouls and shouts for a penalty.

Juventus dropped off in the second half and almost invited Torino to tie the match. Not often do they give opponents so much respect at their own stadium, let a lone a team with such a miserable record against them.

http://markting10.nl/

“It is rare to see Juventus struggle so much in this stadium, as they put three goals past Milan, Roma and Inter here,” Torino manager Giampiero Ventura told Sky Sport Italia (h/t Football Italia) after the match.

Here are the six things to take away from the derby.

http://markting10.nl/

Carlos Tevez Is Scoring Again

The year did not start too well for Carlos Tevez. He went the first six games without a goal, this after going scoreless in the Champions League.

The 30-year-old broke that spell with two goals against Verona, and he scored the winner against Torino with a swift turn and kick of the ball at the edge of the box. Now, he has 14 goals in Serie A, tying Giuseppe Rossi, who injured his knee early in January. All but one of the goals came from open play.

The beauty of Tevez is that he doesn’t wait for the ball to come to him. He runs back and into space, always looking for the right spot.

He appeared to injure his finger, but he later told Sky Sport Italia (via GianLucaDiMarzio.com) that he is fine and that he will be able to play against Milan next Sunday.

Misery Has a Friend in Torino

Torino have only lost their encounters with Juventus by a single goal, but they haven't helped themselves. Too many shots went wide—three of their 15 shots were on target—and too many fouls were committed, some right outside the penalty area. Andrea Pirlo was given several chances to score another of his signature free-kicks, too.

Ventura felt aggrieved with the officiating, via Sky Sport Italia's report. He thought the game was missing a penalty and a red card, one for a challenge made by Pirlo on Torino’s Omar El Kaddouri late in the game and the latter for a second yellow card that went unissued against midfielder Arturo Vidal for a handball.

But the story here was almost inevitable. Torino hadn’t beaten Juve since the days when Antonio Conte played for the club back in 1995.

Ciro Immobile, Alessio Cerci Fail to Impress

Coach Ventura did not want his players to press forward and leave themselves exposed against a team that so heavily beat Inter and Roma before them, according to the Sky Sport Italia report. Only until the final half-hour did Torino truly threaten for the equalizer.

Earlier in the game, Ciro Immobile thrashed the ball so hard—and wide—that it broke the rope suspending the net. His partner, Alessio Cerci, made a few runs to nowhere. Both of them make up one of the best partnerships in Serie A. They have been directly involved in 79 percent of the goals scored by Torino.

This time, Italy manager Cesare Prandelli was watching, perhaps to see if one or both merited a place in the friendlies before the World Cup and perhaps in the competition itself. Neither player was truly influential, and maybe Torino rely on them a bit too much.

A Win Is a Win for Juve

There wasn’t much to like about the performance from Juventus. They were equally uninspiring in the match earlier in the week against Trabzonspor, but they won another important match in a season that’s quickly turning into one of the best ever in Serie A.

Andrea Barzagli is the player that keeps the defence together. His game is mistake-free, and when he does leave a man alone, he rushes back to cover for the error.

David Amoyal @DavidAmoyal
More than Vidal, Pirlo, Tevez, Buffon, Pogba the one player Juve can't replace is Barzagli IMO- they are different team when he plays

Gianluigi Buffon didn’t have to work too hard for the clean sheet, his 12th of the campaign, but Juve did afford Torino more time with the ball—especially as the game ended.

Another Game, Another Reason to Like Martin Cáceres

He has started just six games in Serie A with Juventus this season, but he deserves to play so much more. His stats were clean: 94 touches and a passing percentage of 95, second most of any player in the game.

Caceres has scored an own goal, and he can bobble the ball, but he is strong in the air and smart with his clearances. He is quiet on the field, and equally when he’s not playing. He deputized for the injured Giorgio Chiellini, and unfortunately, he is ahead of Caceres in the hierarchy, but this 26-year-old is capable of playing in the bigger games, just as he did against Real Madrid in October.

Vidal Suspended for Match at San Siro

Vidal picked up a yellow card, and he was already one away from a suspension. He also risked a red card. Juventus will have to play Milan without him, and that may be OK.

Kwadwo Asamoah has proved useful and effective on the flank, and he teed up Tevez for the goal. Claudio Marchisio also replaced Vidal as a substitute, and he could do the same next Sunday.

Vidal could also play the entire match in Turkey this week against Trabzonspor, and Conte will get a chance to rotate the squad once again.

Conte concedes Torino could have had a penalty

The Granata felt that they should have been awarded a spot-kick when
Omar El Kaddouri went over in the area with 10 minutes to go in the Derby della Mole.

Antonio Conte has admitted that Juventus could easily have conceded a penalty in the closing stages of Sunday's Serie A win over Torino.

Carlos Tevez's first-half strike gave the hosts the lead in the Derby della Mole and although the Granata rarely threatened an equaliser, there was one scare for the Bianconeri with 10 minutes remaining when Omar El Kaddouri went down under Andrea Pirlo's challenge inside the penalty area.

Conte conceded that Juve could have had few complaints if the referee had pointed to the spot but also argued that El Kaddouri's theatrical fall could also have resulted in a yellow card for the Moroccan.

"Let's say El Kaddouri was prepared for it, but there was contact too," Conte told Sky Sport Italia.

"I'll admit anything could have happened there; a penalty or a booking for simulation.

"Thankfully, the referee made the right decision for us!"

Juve now face a trip to Turkey for the second leg of their Europa League round-of-32 tie with Trabzonspor on Thursday, before returning to Italy to face AC Milan at San Siro on Sunday.

Although nine points clear of Roma at present, Conte expressed concerns that his side's extra games could count against them in the run-in for the title.

"Roma sent us a message last night [by beating Bologna], we replied today and next week we'll play away to Milan," he said.

"What worries me is that we won't get back from Turkey until Friday morning at 07:00 and then play on Sunday evening, so we'll barely get any rest.

http://markting10.nl/

"Roma don't have any European commitments, aren't getting anything wrong and in many ways remind me of my first year at Juventus.

"If you ask me if I'm more relaxed last season or this, I'll be honest and say last year. Are they more dangerous than Napoli last year? Yes. Definitely."

Buffon: 'Tevez made the difference'

Gigi Buffon complimented Torino for causing Juventus problems, but said “champion” Carlos Tevez made the difference.

http://markting10.nl/

The Apache decided the 1-0 result in the Derby della Mole this evening.

“It’s one of the few times Torino were able to play against us with no pressure, thanks to the great campaign they are having,” the goalkeeper told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was a ‘real’ derby, quite an English-style one with the referee letting the action run. Compliments to Torino, as their performance made it really difficult for us.

http://markting10.nl/

“In a complicated and balanced encounter like this, the difference is made by those moments of magic from a champion. We’ve got several and today Carlos was decisive.”

However, Torino felt they deserved a penalty when Andrea Pirlo tripped Omar El Kaddouri.

“From my position I didn’t see any actual contact, but even then not every contact has to be a penalty,” shrugged Buffon.

Conte: 'Juve adjusted for Toro'

hwd2co.jpg

Feb 23, 2014

Antonio Conte revealed Juventus adjusted their tactics to limit Torino and was uncertain on the penalty controversy.

http://markting10.nl/

Carlos Tevez secured a 1-0 victory for the Bianconeri, though Omar El Kaddouri appeared to be tripped by Andrea Pirlo in the final minutes.

“I don’t see a fatigue problem. Inevitably these are very, very difficult games, as Torino had nothing to lose. Along with Verona they are the revelations of this campaign,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“In my view our game was tactically perfect, as we played with cool heads and hot hearts. We allowed Torino very few chances and tried to limit their counter-attacks, which are their main strengths.

http://markting10.nl/

“Immobile, Cerci and El Kaddouri can hurt any opponents and we ran the real risk of letting them through if we weren’t 100 per cent concentrated. It was not simple and I am very happy with the response from the lads just three days after the Europa League game.

“Now we have to focus on Thursday, as there will be a fiery atmosphere in Turkey and anyone who thinks we’ve already qualified is wrong. We need to score there as soon as possible.

“Torino play an atypical 3-5-2, as it’s more of a 3-5-1-1 with one striker much wider than the other. Cerci as a forward is changing his characteristics, but then he cuts inside and can become devastating. I think we did a great job tactically to limit them.”

http://markting10.nl/

Conte revealed the relative lack of crosses, instead playing ball to feet through the middle, was a tactical choice.

“What we did tonight was not improvised, that’s for sure. We evaluated the situation. We needed the ball to reach the strikers, not for the strikers to come back to get the ball, as that left us enough room to get back and block off any counter-attacks or at least give them a lot more work to do.”

Conte was shown the footage of the El Kaddouri incident from several different angles and sighed.

http://markting10.nl/

“Let’s say El Kaddouri was prepared for it, but there was contact too. I’ll admit anything could’ve happened there – a penalty or a booking for simulation. Thankfully, the referee made the right decision for us!” he laughed.

“Compliments to Torino for an extraordinary campaign and to Giampiero Ventura for his great work. I rarely give compliments, but they are well deserved in this case.”

Juve maintained their nine-point advantage over Roma – who have a game in hand – but Conte confessed to being worried.

http://markting10.nl/

“If you ask me if I’m more relaxed this season or this, I’ll be honest and say last year. We’re having a great campaign, but Roma are playing great football and have enthusiasm. Are they more dangerous than Napoli were last year? Yes. Definitely.

“They don’t have any European commitments either, aren’t getting anything wrong and in many ways remind me of my first year at Juventus. We have to be very wary, as when we gift points like we did at Verona then it gives those behind us even more hope.

“Roma sent us a message last night, we replied today and next week we’ll play away to Milan. What worries me is that we won’t get back from Turkey until Friday morning at 7am and then play on Sunday evening, so we’ll barely get any rest.

“I know I might not be likeable to many, but I am very concentrated, focused and ferocious in my work. I think you have to be like that to achieve success.”
