Tevez screamer sinks Seedorf's men

The Argentine added to Fernando Llorente's opener, which came just before
half-time, to extend the Bianconeri's lead in Serie A to 11 points.

Carlos Tevez's second-half strike condemned AC Milan to a 2-0 defeat at San Siro as Juventus' unbeatable form continued on Sunday.

http://markting10.nl/

After spending most of the first period on the back foot, Juve pounced in the final minutes of the half through Fernando Llorente's close-range strike before Tevez scored spectacularly from distance after the break to confirm a win that moves Antonio Conte's men 11 points clear of Roma.

The result also continues Juve's remarkable run of scoring in every league game this season as goals from both strikers kept them on course for the title.

A home reverse ended Milan's bid for a third straight league victory but they will certainly take heart from their first-half performance in particular, when they could have scored but for a combination of wasteful finishing, a goalline clearance and the presence of Gianluigi Buffon in the Juve goal.

http://markting10.nl/

The Rossoneri were without Mario Balotelli through injury but created early openings when Adel Taarabt fired in a long-range effort that Buffon easily dealt with, before Kaka blasted wide.

Tevez and Llorente were back in the starting XI after being rested for the Europa League clash with Trabzonspor and they combined well to fashion an early chance for the visitors, but Tevez shot straight at Christian Abbiati.

The champions should have taken the lead after 18 minutes when Stephan Lichtsteiner met a low cross at the back post, only for Abbiati to produce a fine save.

http://markting10.nl/

In a breathless opening, Milan went close to breaking the deadlock after 25 minutes when Kaka saw his first effort saved by Buffon and, although he beat the Italian with the rebound, Leonardo Bonucci cleared off the line.

Milan continued to impress and Andrea Poli wasted a good chance after 32 minutes when he sliced over from 18 yards.

Buffon had to be at his best a few moments later as he made a sprawling save to palm away Riccardo Montolivo's piledriver.

http://markting10.nl/

The Bianconeri were under siege and Kaka produced a fine curling effort that forced Buffon into a superb save. Poli should have converted the rebound but fired over.

And the hosts were made to pay for their profligacy a minute later when Lichtsteiner pulled the ball back for Llorente to tap home his 13th of the season

The pace showed no signs of dropping early in the second half. Tevez brushed Adil Rami off the ball before forcing Abbiati into a low save before, at the other end, Taarabt's cross was missed by everybody and Buffon had to parry the ball away.

http://markting10.nl/

Juve made the game safe after 67 minutes when Tevez produced a stunning 25-yard strike that flew past Abbiati and went in off the crossbar.

The scoreline could have been even worse for Milan soon afterwards, as Andrea Pirlo and Paul Pogba both hit the woodwork late on, but a third would have been harsh on Milan - who struck the frame of the goal themselves in a frantic finish through Robinho.

Tevez screamer conquers San Siro

Milan paid the price for wasting chances, as Juventus conquered
San Siro with Fernando Llorente and a Carlos Tevez blockbuster.

Mar 2, 2014

Antonio Conte’s men are now 11 points clear at the top of the table, even if Roma have a game in hand, and 17 points clear of Napoli in third place.

http://markting10.nl/

The Rossoneri had to reshuffle with Mario Balotelli, Stephan El Shaarawy and Bryan Cristante injured, while Sulley Muntari was suspended. Christian Abbiati and Daniele Bonera returned after suffering from flu. Giampaolo Pazzini wore a face mask to protect a nose injury. Juve didn’t risk Giorgio Chiellini from the start and drafted in Claudio Marchisio for the banned Arturo Vidal, while Kwadwo Asamoah passed a fitness test. The Bianconeri were fresh from Thursday’s 2-0 Europa League victory away to Trabzonspor and Andrea Pirlo stepped back into the stadium that was his home for a decade.

Early on Adel Taarabt tested Gigi Buffon from distance and then his cross was nodded wide by Pazzini.

Juventus had a great chance on 17 minutes when Fernando Llorente only scuffed his attempt, but the ball kept going for Stephan Lichtsteiner who forced Abbiati into a desperate reaction save with his knee.

http://markting10.nl/

Less than 30 seconds later Milan had an opportunity, but Pazzini just failed to get the flick before Buffon on an Ignazio Abate assist.

Milan somehow failed to score on 26 minutes with a strong counter. Kaka’s first shot was parried by Buffon, then the second beat him only for Leonardo Bonucci to perform a desperate goalline clearance.

Andrea Poli ballooned over after Pazzini’s effort was charged down on the edge of the box, then Buffon beat away a Riccardo Montolivo snapshot from distance.

http://markting10.nl/

Taarabt’s first touch let him down when Kaka robbed Andrea Barzagli. Milan were dominating as the first half wore on and Buffon acrobatically flew to palm away a Kaka curler, but again Poli couldn’t keep the follow-up on target.

However, it was Juventus who got the ball in the net with a well-worked move. Claudio Marchisio pounced on an Adil Rami error to pull back for Lichtsteiner and the ball eventually fell to Fernando Llorente to turn in unmarked from seven yards.

After the restart Tevez tested Abbiati with an angled drive after shaking off Rami, then Buffon beat away a Taarabt cross-shot that Pazzini didn’t connect with.

http://markting10.nl/

Poli wasted another good chance, his header wide from a Kaka curling cross under pressure from Martin Caceres. The former Sampdoria midfielder clashed heads with Caceres during that move and came off worse, having to be stretchered off. The Uruguayan was able to continue with a large bandage.

Andrea Pirlo was booked for a studs-up challenge on Ricky Saponara and will be suspended for next week’s game against Fiorentina.

Juve doubled their lead with an astonishing strike from Tevez, who gathered from 20 metres and unleashed an incredible right-foot blockbuster that bounced in off the underside of the bar. Abbiati would’ve probably broken his hand if he had got a touch to it. This was also Tevez’s 15th of the season, making him lone Capocannoniere.

http://markting10.nl/

Rami drilled straight at Buffon and the goalkeeper beat away an Urby Emanuelson snapshot, then Pirlo’s free kick skimmed the bar.

It was almost 3-0 in the final minutes, as Paul Pogba’s scorcher flew past Abbiati to thump the base of the far post.

There wasn't a consolation goal for Milan, who deep into stoppages also hit the crossbar with Robinho.

MILAN: Abbiati; Abate, Rami, Bonera, Emanuelson; Montolivo (Honda 71), De Jong; Kaka, Poli (Saponara 53), Taarabt (Robinho 75); Pazzini

JUVENTUS: Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Caceres; Lichtsteiner (Padoin 84), Pogba, Pirlo, Marchisio, Asamoah; Tevez (Giovinco 92), Llorente (Osvaldo 90)

Juventus move 11 points clear

aemb1c.jpg

Mar 2, 2014

Juventus have extended their lead at the top of Serie A to 11 points courtesy of a 2-0 win over AC Milan at the San Siro this evening.

http://markting10.nl/

The hosts began the match strongly and had two decent sights of goal in the opening 12 minutes, with Adel Taarabt testing Gianluigi Buffon before Giampaolo Pazzini nodded a chance over the bar.

Carlos Tevez tested Christian Abbiati with a drilled shot after Fernando Llorente's flick, while the Milan keeper was also on hand to make a fine stop to deny Stephan Lichtsteiner after a defensive mix-up.

Milan almost broke the deadlock in the 26th minute when Kaka beat Buffon at the second time of asking, only for Andrea Barzagli to get back in time to clear it off the line.

http://markting10.nl/

They had another chance to make the breakthrough shortly before half time as Buffon could only push Kaka's effort into the path of Andrea Poli, but he blasted his effort over from close range.

Juventus took the lead against the run of play just a minute later, however, as Tevez linked up with Lichtsteiner to tee up Llorente for a simple finish.

They almost doubled their lead at the start of the second half as they broke forward from midfield through Tevez, whose eventual shot was well held by the keeper.

http://markting10.nl/

Milan responded with two headed chances of their own in the space of one minute, but on both occasions Pazzini couldn't get enough power on either to beat Buffon.

The visitors wrapped up all three points with just over 20 minutes of the match remaining as Tevez unleashed a powerful strike from long range that went in off the underside of the crossbar.

Juve were inches away from making it three later in the match as Paul Pogba burst forward from midfield before firing a low effort that clipped the outside of the post.

The Bianconeri Make Their Chances Count

Mar 2, 2014

Juventus beat AC Milan 2-0 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday night in Serie A.

http://markting10.nl/

Fernando Llorente put the Bianconeri ahead on the stroke of half-time and Carlos Tevez doubled their lead mid-way through the second half.

Adel Taarabt tested Juve’s Gianluigi Buffon with the outside of his right boot and Urby Emanuelson went wide by attempting a similar shot on his left.

Christian Abbiati was then tested in the Rossoneri goal after Fernando Llorente turned and laid-off a pass for Carlos Tevez and the Milan keeper saved Stephan Lichtsteiner’s shot on the line with his foot.

http://markting10.nl/

Kaka was then denied twice in less than five seconds. After some quick passing around the box from the Rossoneri, Kaka received the ball, forced Buffon into a save and then the rebound was cleared off the line by Leonardo Bonucci.

The Rossoneri started taking greater control of possession as the half went on. Andrea Poli blasted over the bar, Riccardo Montolivo’s long-range effort was saved by Buffon, Taarabt was in front of goal when he headed over the bar, and Giampaolo Pazzini on the turn had a shot saved by Buffon. Kaka had a bending shot saved by Buffon and then Poli put the rebound over the bar.

Juventus took the lead after 44 minutes and went into the half-time break with the lead. Lichtsteiner received the ball from Claudio Marchisio and then he cut the ball back for Fernando Llorente, who tapped the ball in from close range.

http://markting10.nl/

The Bianconeri had the first chance of the second half when Tevez controlled a long pass and tested Abbiati and then the Rossoneri had two chances of their own. Taarabt’s cross was dealt with by Buffon and Poli headed over the bar and also collided with Juve defender Martin Caceres. Poli was taken off and replaced by Riccardo Saponara.

AC Milan took a free-kick twice. Rami’s first attempt was blocked by Marchisio but he moved too early. Montolivo’s second chance went over the bar.

Juventus doubled their lead after 68 minutes. Tevez received the ball from about 25 metres and unleashed a thunderous shot that gave Abbiati no hope and the ball flew under the bar and into the net.

http://markting10.nl/

Emanuelson struck from long-range and Buffon diverted the shot away. Pirlo had an opportunity from a free-kick, which just flew over the bar and Pogba had space in the middle of the park and he unleashed a long-range effort that ended up hitting the post.

AC Milan still went for the consolation goal but after a Saponara cross from the right-wing, Robinho’s shot hit the crossbar. Juventus won by two goals and unlike Milan, they finished their chances off.

Spirited Milan made to pay
for wasted opportunities

2nr0r2f.jpg

Mar 2, 2014

As expected, Sunday night's clash with Juventus proved to be a fascinating encounter between two giants of Italian football, despite the disparity in the league table this season. Milan caused the defending champions numerous problems in a spirited performance, but ultimately the quality in finishing was the difference as the Bianconeri secured a 2-0 win.

http://markting10.nl/

There were various aspects of the performance which proved that Clarence Seedorf's game-plan was working to great effect, as Milan successfully negated the threat of a number of key players for the visitors.

The full-backs were able to restrict Juve down the flanks, while Andrea Poli did an admirable job in limiting Andrea Pirlo's ability to dictate the game. Milan were also full of energy through the middle with Nigel De Jong and Riccardo Montolivo, and perhaps for an hour of the game supporters witnessed the best that this Milan has offered under Seedorf.

Nevertheless, from Kaka's effort which was cleared off the line to wasteful finishing from Poli, the key element that is missing from the Rossoneri at this moment is an ability to be clinical when chances present themselves.

http://markting10.nl/

The difference in quality was evident in that respect, as Juve found the net with a well-worked goal to break the deadlock, before Carlos Tevez secured the result with a stunning long-range effort. Mario Balotelli's absence was perhaps key in that area, but given the chances created, Seedorf will feel disappointed that the game slipped out of his grasp.

What is particularly positive is the degree of control Milan are beginning to enjoy against top level opposition, and progressively they are starting to sustain it as fitness levels improve. However, to take full advantage of it, they mustn't be so wasteful as ultimately it will lead to results similar to that suffered on Sunday night.

Regardless, there were several positives to take away from the game for Seedorf, as the new style of play and mentality is gradually shining through. Naturally, there are still problem areas to be ironed out, but on the whole the Rossoneri can be proud of their effort against the strongest unit in Italy as the Milan coach insisted after the game that he can see "the growth" in the squad.

http://markting10.nl/

Perhaps an area of particular concern though is who will feature in the four-man attacking system as the season progresses and then moving into the next campaign.

Adel Taarabt continues to be provide creativity, trickery and a general goal-scoring threat, but the other two positions behind the main striker are yet to be claimed consistently by any one player.

Poli's energy and work-rate is vital depending on the circumstances and opposition, but Keisuke Honda and Kaka are struggling to have an influence on proceedings, particularly the former.

http://markting10.nl/

Seedorf hasn't been apprehensive in using Riccardo Saponara, but the 22-year-old still looks marginally off the pace and there is an argument to suggest that his attributes aren't being fully utilised in a more central role.

Despite the disappointing result, Milan produced an excellent performance in general despite fading late on. Seedorf has a week to help his players recover and regroup, but if Sunday night's game was an indication of what is to come under the Dutchman's management, there are plenty of positives to take moving forward.

Initial reaction and random observations

lkvg4.jpg

Mar 2, 2014

The common takeaway was that Milan were clearly the better side on Sunday night against rival Juventus. And you know what? That's the honest truth and something I won't disagree with whatsoever. There's going to be no denying that Clarence Seedorf has his squad ready to play and they showed up for one heck of a test.

http://markting10.nl/

But the difference between Milan and Juventus — besides the obvious 2-0 final scoreline — was the fact that one team was able to take advantage of the few chances they got, while the other was left utterly frustrated with their lack of success in front of the opposing goal.

Milan were very good for the majority of the game. Damn good in the first half, actually. They were pressing Juve hard and had the possession numbers clearly in their favor. Juve's response to it all? Not much, really. There were plenty of careless turnovers by players in black and white jerseys and not much being created in the final third of the field in the opening 45 minutes by Antonio Conte's side.

Then, in a blink of an eye, the difference maker.

http://markting10.nl/

Claudio Marchisio to Carlos Tevez to Stephan Llchtsteiner to Fernando Llorente. A team goal if there ever was one by Juventus. Just like that, 1-0 Juventus mere moments before the halftime whistle.

And once Carlos Tevez dropped the absolute hammer, netting a goal that no keeper in the world would ever have a chance to stop, there was only one thing to say: Game. Set. Match. Thanks for coming, folks.

JuventusFC ✔ @juventusfcen
#Buffon: @carlitos3210's goal? It was an incredible strike that eased the pressure on us. #MilanJuve

http://markting10.nl/

It was one of those games where the more clinical side was the victorious one. Juventus have five shots on goal, scored two of them. Milan had nine shots on target, but didn't see a single one find the back of the net.

Because of that, Juve now have a double-digit lead atop the Serie A table for the first time all season. Plus-11, folks. It sounds pretty good to say, so don't shy away from it.

http://markting10.nl/

Random thoughts and observations

• Football Italia had a blog earlier in the week about Gigi Buffon nearing the end of his career and that Juve should probably starting to think about replacing him sooner rather than later. Well, what did Buffon do against Milan? Only make eight saves, many of which were big-time reaction stops on absolute rockets. He's still got it. Not that I ever doubted it.

• When Buffon wasn't making spectacular save after spectacular save, Leonardo Bonucci was. Judging by how the first half ended going, how incredibly important was Bonucci's goal-line clearance? Kick save and a beauty.

• Carlos Tevez, your new leading scorer in Serie A with 15 goals.

WhoScored.com ✔ @WhoScored
Carlos Tévez: Has now scored 15 league goals this season, as many as he scored in his 2 previous seasons combined #Juve

I'm not in the mood to hear about how Tevez didn't score a single goal in the Champions League this season, internet people. He's having one hell of a year and that's that.

http://markting10.nl/

• Is it approaching the time where Paul Pogba gets a game or two of rest? Obviously the current suspension situation will prevent that — Andrea Pirlo is suspended for Fiorentina's visit to Turin next Sunday after getting a yellow card against Milan – but Pogba is nowhere close to playing his best ball right now. Maybe it's mental fatigue just as much as being physically tired, I dunno. But the kid needs a rest. You can just see it the last few games.

• Sunday's game just reaffirmed how important Arturo Vidal is to the Juventus midfield — as if we didn't know it already. There was just that extra something lacking against Milan. And that was everything Vidal brings to the table.

• I said in the preview that it will be interesting to see what this Milan side under Seedorf is really all about. They have been getting a decent amount of pub during the week, but as we know, it's one thing to beat Sampdoria, it's another thing to run with the best team in the country. I must admit, I was pretty impressed with his team played. They came out with a plan, executed it quite well, and certainly should have done more in front of goal. If they finished in front of goal like how they executed for most of the game, it would have been a much different kind of story for Juventus.

Win Highlights Depth of the Champions

xft8q0.jpg

Mar 2, 2014

Two-time defending champions Juventus travelled to San Siro on Sunday night to face a resurgent Milan side, buoyed by the arrival of Clarence Seedorf. The Dutchman took over as coach of the Rossoneri back in January, and for much of this match, his players displayed the much improved mental approach seen since he took charge.

http://markting10.nl/

No longer the timid provincial side seen under his predecessor Massimiliano Allegri, the seven-time Champions League winners attacked their opponents in a manner reminiscent of their great teams of old. It took a while for the Turin giants to raise their game to meet such a challenge, perhaps slightly fatigued from their own European exploits on Thursday night.

As well as the effects of that Europa League meeting with Trabzonspor, the Bianconeri were also without the suspended Arturo Vidal. The Chilean midfielder has netted 11 goals and five assists, whilst also—according to stats site WhoScored—leading Serie A with 113 tackles, making him a vital member of Antonio Conte’s first XI.

Robbed of the man who has come to personify their playing style over the past two and a half years, it should have been no surprise La Madama struggled to find a foothold in the match. Yet just before halftime, they would break at speed and score the opening goal of the game to silence the Milanese crowd.

http://markting10.nl/

After a superbly timed run, Claudio Marchisio pounced on an error by Adil Rami to pull back for Stephan Lichtsteiner, with the ball eventually falling to Fernando Llorente. The Spanish striker was unmarked seven yards out and would make no mistake in tucking away the finish, taking his own tally for the season to 11.

Not only did the goal kick start what had previously been a sub-par performance from Juventus, it also extended their Serie A scoring streak to 39 games. They last failed to get on the score-sheet vs. Roma back in February of last year, a remarkable feat and one which is testament to the depth of quality available to Conte.

The coach is fortunate enough to select his starting line-up from a superb pool of talent, with no fewer than seven players—Gigi Buffon, Andrea Barzagli, Leo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Claudio Marchisio, Andrea Pirlo and Pablo Osvaldo—chosen to represent the Italian National Team this coming week.

http://markting10.nl/

Lichtsteiner (Switzerland), Martin Caceres (Uruguay), Paul Pogba (France) and Kwadwo Asamoah (Ghana) are likely to join Chilean pair Vidal and Mauricio Isla at the World Cup this summer. With Sebastian Giovinco and Angelo Ogbonna possibly joining those on Cesare Prandelli’s list for Brazil, the club could feasibly have 15 players at the tournament.

Given such strength, it is not difficult to see why they currently lead Serie A by 11 points, although it must be noted nearest rivals Roma still have a game in hand. Perhaps the most surprising thing is that neither Llorente, nor strike partner Carlos Tevez—who have already netted 26 league goals between them—appear to figure in the plans of their respective nations.

That depth has been sorely tested of late, with Vidal’s ban following injury layoffs for both Barzagli and Chiellini, yet the Bianconeri barely missed a beat, just as they did when Pirlo’s knee problem kept him out during December. In the same way Marchisio filled the void left by the absence of his midfield team-mates, Caceres and Ogbonna stepped in at the back.

http://markting10.nl/

Osvaldo’s arrival in the January transfer window only added to that feeling of numerical superiority, and Conte’s immediate trust in the Southampton striker has been rewarded. The 28-year-old has made just three substitute appearances, but his two Europa League starts have each yielded goals, making him the 14th different scorer for Juventus this term.

Milan did very well in a much improved performance, but this latest meeting with their storied rivals shows they still have a long way to go as they fight back to the top. For Juventus, their depth has kept alive the dream of a third consecutive title, a feat the club has only managed once in its history. The champions roll on.

Milan dominates play,
Juventus wins the 3 points

2r43pmw.jpg

Mar 2, 2014

Rarely has Roma missed points in their season-long chase of Juventus for the Scudetto, but this weekend was one of those times. Playing on Saturday night, it was Inter of all teams that held the Giallorossi to a 0-0 draw at their own stadium. Just the next day, the other title-contender Juventus had their own away match to a team from Milano that was suddenly a huge opportunity to extend an already audacious lead at the top.

http://markting10.nl/

So what do Conte and his 11-some warriors do at San Siro? They show up after a late Thursday night game in Turkey, play disorganized, uninspired football at times, allow Milan a few too many chances, but most importantly, strike twice when most hurtful to their opponents against the run of play to silence the Giuseppe Meazza and steal the 3 points.

In Italian football, the team that steps up against the big teams AND wins most of their games against the provinciali is a usual favorite for the title. Today, Juventus reminded us that champions are also the teams that win even when they don't play their best football.

Over Conte's tenure, Juventus have transformed from the defensive team that lacked quality strikers and played often-fruitless possession football, to a team with neck-raising, goosebump-giving starting duo in attack and an overall killer instinct for wins, points, and titles (at least in Italy).

An 11-point gap over Roma it is.

http://markting10.nl/

MATCH SUMMARY

In preparation for the tightly scheduled derby, Conte smartly rested our deadly striking tandem of Tevez and Llorente in midweek. On Sunday, it paid off and then some when both strikers notched a goal for the 0-2 win.

Both teams lacked their best players. Balotelli was still nursing a shoulder injury while Arturo Vidal was out suspended. Both teams were coming off a great spell of recent form, with Juventus leading the pack in Serie A with 14 points in 6 games.

However, until Carlos Tevez put the game away with a splendid strike from outside the box on 70 minutes, Juventus' quality of play was hardly the storyline of the game.

http://markting10.nl/

It was Milan, in fact, that enjoyed a great first 44 minutes full of dominance in areas of possession, passing, shooting, and chances. Call them wasteful, or call Juventus (and especially Bonucci) scrappy in defense, but the scoreline stayed 0-0 for 44 suffering Juve minutes. And then, on a quick counter, a lovely team move and passing between Marchisio, Tevez, Lichtsteiner, and Llorente led to a demoralizing goal right at the stroke of halftime and the 0-1 lead.

In the second half, Conte adjusted defensively but Milan kept on pushing for a goal. There were no goal-line clearances this time as the closest the Rossoneri came to equalizing was a cross/shot by Taarabt and a wide header by Poli.

Soon enough, it was the Carlos Tevez show once more. Almost wearing those fateful red and black colors a few seasons ago (though Milan decided to keep Pato over buying Tevez), Carlitos found space outside the box and fired a deadly shot right under Abbiati's crossbar. With just 20 minutes left, Milan had possession, chances, and shots to show for, while Juve held a strong 0-2 lead. Game, set, match Juventus.

http://markting10.nl/

LE PAGELLE

BUFFON: 8 - Was absolutely fantastic all night, beating out Milan's shots and chances. My man of match along with about 70 of you (per Danny's poll). Still got it, no doubt. A great clean sheet.

Barzagli: 6.5 - Our whole defense had a very slow start to the game, Andrea included. Played a bit too deep on the entry passes to Kaka and Taarabt, but with Conte's guidance, improved in the second half and played a little higher up on them.

Bonucci: 7 - Man, speaking of a slow start, Leo left a lot of gaps open in the opening 20-some minutes. Eventually got his mojo back after the goal-line clearance and some good tackles and interceptions. In the second half he was a lot better and repeatedly cleared Milan's attacks in key moments. Having been the most consistent anchor on defense in the last month or so due to injures to Barzagli and Chiellini, he's kept on well to assure for some great recent clean sheets.

Caceres: 7 - Sacrificed a lot for the team, including a cut on his head. Was solid for the majority of the game and was in the right place at the right time, especially in the second half.

Lichtsteiner: 7.5 - He may not play as a true full back, but he is now the leading Serie A defender with 6 assists. Actually had a good first half and was always in support in attack, almost scoring off of Llorente's miss-timed shot and notching an assist on the Spaniard's goal.

Marchisio: 6.5 - Was almost invisible in the first half except for the run and pass to start the play for the leading goal. In the second half he was a lot more aggressive on both ends.

Pirlo: 6 - The only notable moments of the game were his bad tackle for his yellow card (and next game's suspension) and a late free kick that hit the woodwork. Milan's pressure for most of the game put him on the defensive more so than usual. He struggled to help cover for Pazzini who repeatedly slotted in behind him. Not his best game against his old team.

Pogba: 5.5 - I may be harsh on the youngster here, but he had a horrendous game. His touch was off, his positioning questionable, and kept committing little frustrating fouls. Conte knows he's due for a break, but he won't get it next week against Fiorentina with Pirlo suspended. A good rest should help him re-focus and get back to his early season form.

Asamoah: 6 - Was surprised he started and didn't really make a difference in any way. I actually barely saw him mentioned and his defending wasn't particularly outstanding either.

Tevez: 7.5 - Ladies and gentlemen, your current cappocanoniere in Serie A with 15 goals. Hit an absolute thunder*uck of a strike for his goal, and got the hockey assist on the first goal as well. A very spirited performance as usual, this guy is an amazing warrior every second he's on that pitch. Glad he's wearing bianconero.

Llorente: 7 - Saw a lot of pressure from Milan's defense on long balls and while mostly doing well, was nervous at times and played some errant first passes giving away possession. Still, had a great impact on the game and scored a crucial first goal.

Conte: 6.5
- Despite the final scoreline, Conte wasn't ready for this game. Milan dominated for the majority of the game and gave our defense a lot of problems despite never scoring. Even after the halftime, Juventus didn't look like themselves for the most part. Seedorf takes the cake between the coaches on the day.

Goals either side of half-time from Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez proved enough
for the Serie A leaders despite conceding a number of chances to Clarence Seedorf's side.

AC MILAN

Christian Abbiati
- Made a superb save to deny Lichtsteiner at 0-0 but should have beaten Marchisio to the ball in the build-up to the opener. Had no chance with Tevez's effort.

Ignazio Abate - Never stopped running on the right-hand side as he got forward with regularity. Kept Asamoah very quiet on the Juventus left.

Adil Rami - Struggled with the physicality of Llorente on occasion while he was also troubled by tevez's movement. Did make the odd strong challenge.

Daniele Bonera - Never got to grips with Tevez as he failed to get back in time for the opener before picking up a late booking.

Urby Emanuelson - Got forward regularly and put Lichtsteiner on the back foot. Twice tested Buffon, though crosses were not always the best for Pazzini.

Riccardo Montolivo - Controlled the midfield area for the hosts as Pirlo and Marchisio struggled to make any impact. Surprisingly replaced after Tevez's strike.

Nigel De Jong - Never allowed Pogba out of his sight as the Frenchman struggled to make an impact. Possibly could have closed down Tevez quicker for the second goal.

Kaká - Caused problems going forward but wasted Milan's best chances as he twice saw Buffon save as well as finding Bonucci on the line with the goal gaping.

Andrea Poli - Looked bright but wasted two great chances. First he fired over seconds before Juventus took the lead before heading wide in the second half. Stretchered off soon after.

Adel Taarabt - The best player in the first half, his pace and movement caused all sorts of problems. Faded in the second period before being substituted late on.

Giampaolo Pazzini - Impressive in the first half as he gave Bonucci a very hard time and got a couple of efforts in on goal. Struggled to make the same impact after the break and became anonymous.

http://markting10.nl/

Substitutions

Riccardo Saponara
- Struggled to get into the game after replacing Poli. Should have got back quicker as Tevez scored the second.

Robinho - Crashed a late effort against the bar, though he should have really scored.

Keisuke Honda - Misplaced too many passes as Milan lost all their forward thrust after his introduction.

http://markting10.nl/

JUVENTUS

Gianluigi Buffon
- Somehow kept a clean sheet despite the number of chances Milan created. Saved well from Kaka, Montolivo and Emanuelson, though struggled at times with distribution.

Andrea Barzagli - Missed too many tackles in the first half but was much better after the break. Strong in the air he also stepped out to meet Kaka and Taarabt.

Leonardo Bonucci - Almost gifted Milan two goals in the opening period as he found himself out of position regularly. Finally got Pazzini under control in the second period.

Martín Cáceres - Looked the most solid of the Juventus backline and was his usual confident self on the ball. Put his body on the line to try deny Poli and ended the game bloodied and bandaged.

Stephan Lichtsteiner - From the start was a threat going forward as he shot wide and showed great awareness to get outside Tevez and feed Llorente to create the opening goal.

Paul Pogba - Marshalled by de Jong throughout and struggled to have the impact he usually has in midfield. Finally given some freedom late on, he struck the post from distance.

Andrea Pirlo - Had to work hard defensively so couldn't put together the passing masterclass many are used to. Did still show some class and hit the crossbar with a free-kick late on.

Claudio Marchisio - Very quiet in the first half as the game largely passed him by, though good run in behind started the attacking move for the first goal. Played some better passes in the second period.

Kwadwo Asamoah - Passed a late fitness test but barely figured as Milan dominated. Failed to track Taarabt and looked off the pace.

CARLOS TEVEZ - Showed signs of being on form in the first half before perfectly weighted pass helped create the opener. Lashed home from 25 yards to seal the points for the leaders.

Fernando Llorente - Not always involved but showed some nice touches and great movement when the visitors needed someone to hold up play. Swept home from close range to break the deadlock.

http://markting10.nl/

Substitutions

Simone Padoin
- Replaced Lichtsteiner for the final ten minutes but had very little to do.

Sebastian Giovinco - Made no impact after coming on in stoppage time.

Pablo Daniel Osvaldo - Had little chance to make an impact after replacing Llorente in the final minute.

San Siro's silencer:
Tevez shows Milan what they missed

The Argentine scored one and had a hand in the other as Juventus overcame
a more impressive Milan performance to strengthen their hold on the Scudetto.

COMMENT
By Kris Voakes | International Football Correspondent

In January 2012, AC Milan looked odds-on to sign Carlos Tevez from Manchester City. They had another long, hard look at the Argentine in the summer of 2013. And on Sunday, it was Tevez who made the difference after the Rossoneri had dominated Juventus for much of the match.

http://markting10.nl/

It was just a shame for them that he did so wearing a Bianconeri shirt.

Tevez scored one and had a hand in the other as Milan were made to pay for not making the most of their chances for the second home game in succession. For a while Clarence Seedorf’s men had set their stall out well, played with a vim and vigour which was very rarely evident in the days of Massimiliano Allegri, and made a collection of great openings. But they proved to be toothless when it really mattered and had only a 2-0 defeat to show for their efforts.

With Arturo Vidal missing through suspension, Juve boss Antonio Conte would have been hoping that Paul Pogba and Claudio Marchisio would provide the necessary support to Andrea Pirlo for Juventus to dominate the midfield as is usually their way. Instead, Milan had a large percentage of the ball and pinned the Bianconeri back for long spells.

http://markting10.nl/

Yet chances came and went much as they had when the Rossoneri were turned over by Atletico Madrid in their last fixture at San Siro. Giampaolo Pazzini led the line well, giving Leonardo Bonucci a hard time, but he could not find a way to get past Gianluigi Buffon. Even when Kaka beat the Italy No.1 at the second attempt, Bonucci got back to clear off the line. Andrea Poli also missed a good opportunity to put the home side ahead, while Adel Taarabt’s endeavour couldn’t be matched by his finishing.

And just as Diego Costa had made them pay in their Champions League defeat, Fernando Llorente’s goal just before half-time set them up for a further sinking feeling. Adil Rami and Christian Abbiati failed to deal with Bonucci’s long ball, Marchisio played in Tevez, and he cleverly teed up Lichtsteiner, who allowed Llorente to tap home.

Tevez would play an even bigger role in the goal that killed the game once and for all, seeking out a pocket of space 25 yards out and striking the ball superbly off the underside of the bar.

http://markting10.nl/

When CEO Adriano Galliani flew to Rio de Janeiro two years ago to have lunch with Tevez, Milan fans would have dreamt of him delivering San Siro performances like this one. Last summer the Rossoneri needed only to offload Robinho to free the budget needed to bring in the Argentine, with Galliani admitting: “I like Carlos a lot because he’s a nasty player. He is a Manchester City player though and we will not be doing anything unless someone else leaves first.”

Sunday night’s match provided the clearest exhibition yet as to exactly what they lost when he opted to head for Juve rather than wait for the Diavolo to make their move.

http://markting10.nl/

The ex-Corinthians star now has 15 league goals to his name, but more than that he has shown he has the complete game that Milan are still searching for in their strikers. Whether playing with Mario Balotelli or Pazzini up top this season, they have looked short of someone who can do a bit of everything.

He is not the only difference between a Juventus side sat 11 points clear in the Scudetto race and a Milan outfit languishing in 10th position, but there’s little doubt his addition in the summer would have seen that gap reduced markedly. The more chances they miss in big matches, the more they realise what they missed in Tevez.

Buffon: Juventus got lucky to beat Milan

The goalkeeper was relieved to grab a win at San Siro under Antonio Conte
for the first time and refused to suggest the Scudetto is already theirs.

33lfr5i.jpg

Mar 2, 2014

Gianluigi Buffon admitted Juventus needed luck to beat AC Milan 2-0, but praised the way the Serie A leaders coped under pressure.

http://markting10.nl/

The goalkeeper had to be at his best in the Bianconeri goal throughout the contest at San Siro, making several fine stops to deny the likes of Kaka and Riccardo Montolivo.

The reigning champions took the lead against the run of play courtesy of Fernando Llorente late in the first half, before Carlos Tevez settled matters with a stunning strike midway through the second period.

The result extends Juve's unbeaten league run to 18 games and leaves them well on course for a third straight title as closest challengers Roma now sit 11 points adrift in second.

http://markting10.nl/

Veteran Buffon believes the visitors were somewhat fortunate to leave the Rossoneri with nothing to show for their efforts, but was delighted with the resilience shown by Antonio Conte's men.

"There's a lot of credit to go round for the way the team was able to suffer under pressure, but there was also some good luck too," the 36-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.

"If you come to San Siro and face Milan, then there is never a favourite, as neither side wants to give in. It's the first time we've won here in the Conte era.

http://markting10.nl/

"It is also very important that we notched up a fourth consecutive clean sheet. My defenders are the best and the forwards are also giving them a big hand."

Buffon went on to insist he and his team-mates are not taking anything for granted in their march to another Scudetto, despite the lengthy lead in Serie A.

"These are three very important points, but we've got to be very careful," he added. "It's not over yet and Roma are a very strong side who have no other competitions to take part in, which is an important factor."

Seedorf: 'Happy with Milan'

mhc31f.jpg

Mar 2, 2014

Clarence Seedorf maintains Milan’s performance against Juventus can only boost confidence, despite losing 2-0.

http://markting10.nl/

“This is the result, but I’d say it was a very good performance. We knew that we were facing a great side, but we imposed our tempo on the game and eliminated their strengths as much as possible,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“Juve were able to sit back even more in the second half after taking the lead, but I am impressed with the growth of the team.

“I helped the players to find their courage. We said before the game, this was another opportunity to prove to ourselves we are on the right track and can play well against Atletico Madrid, Juventus and a good Sampdoria. That gives us confidence to continue the work.”

http://markting10.nl/

Juventus are now 11 points clear at the top of the table, even if Roma have a game in hand.

“Who can stop them? A tank! Compliments must always be given to a team that has shown its strength throughout the campaign. Tevez made the difference with two moments and showed he is world class.

“We had many chances, were unable to turn them into goals and as we saw tonight that can prove costly.

http://markting10.nl/

“The two goals can be read in certain ways and we could’ve blocked Lichtsteiner’s run, while on the second if Emanuelson had closed down then Tevez wouldn’t have had so much space. However, when you get a shot like that – and I’ve had a few of those in my career – you can only sit back and applaud a fantastic goal.

“We too have very talented players, for example Kaka, who can make the difference the way Tevez does. I think what really makes the difference is the confidence and structure behind the scenes, as they can ride any difficult moment knowing they’ve won two titles in a row and we do not have that situation.

“We have seen our spirit grow in the last few games, keeping up with Juventus in terms of tempo and determination too. Of course you need to take your chances to control games, but the team is getting there.”

Conte: 'Compliments to Seedorf'

11rrihk.jpg

Mar 2, 2014

Antonio Conte complimented Clarence Seedorf and Milan, admitting he didn’t expect Juventus to win tonight.

http://markting10.nl/

Seedorf said after the 2-0 result at San Siro that the only way to stop Juve is with a tank.

“We hope we never cross paths with it! Today we met half a tank, as Milan played an excellent game in every aspect, were very enthusiastic, kept the tempo very high in the first half and had numerous chances to score,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We did well to make the most of a good combination in attack. In the second half we adjusted tactically and suffered less under pressure, controlling the situation and we could’ve added more goals.

http://markting10.nl/

“Compliments to Seedorf and this Milan. Let’s not forget under my tenure we’ve always had huge problems at San Siro, never winning here before.”

The Bianconeri are now 11 points clear, albeit as Roma have a game in hand, as the Giallorossi and Napoli were held to draws.

“Now to get this victory when I was afraid we’d lose points compared to the chasing pack, but instead we gained an advantage, is remarkable.”

http://markting10.nl/

Milan had dominated the first half and Conte admitted he didn’t expect to go into the break 1-0 up.

“In the first half the defence wasn’t working very well, as we were spread too wide and Milan kept finding Pazzini behind Pirlo. My objective was to at least hold on to the 0-0 at half-time before making tactical adjustments in the locker room.

“Carlos Tevez is the kind of player who gets more fired up the more passionate the game is. He’s a fiery person and brings the best out of himself in difficult situations.

http://markting10.nl/

“Fernando Llorente was also extraordinary tonight, as he caused the Milan defence a lot of problems. I am very happy, as in seven days the different strike pairings all did well. I need the whole squad for this season and am getting comforting responses from everyone.”

Juventus have 11 points more than at this stage last season and Conte had particular praise for Leonardo Bonucci, who performed a crucial goalline clearance.

http://markting10.nl/

“Let’s not forget these players have been consistently on, especially Bonucci who had to play more than expected due to injuries for Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli. I want to thank him in particular, as it isn’t easy to be at that level so regularly.

“Paul Pogba took part in the Under-20 World Cup and only had 15 days to rest this summer. He played regularly due to Pirlo and Marchisio injuries, so at his age it’s inevitable there will be a slight dip in form at Juve’s level. He is doing very well, he still needs to grow and knows full well as long as I am in charge he’ll have a carrot on one side and a stick on the other.”

'Milan are getting there' -
Seedorf pleased despite defeat

The Rossoneri outplayed Juventus for much of the 2-0 loss at San Siro
and the Dutchman, who took charge around six weeks ago, saw reasons to be happy.

Mar 3, 2014

Clarence Seedorf thinks AC Milan are gradually getting to the level he wants them at and was pleased with their performance in the 2-0 defeat to Scudetto holders Juventus on Sunday.

http://markting10.nl/

Goals from Bianconeri strike duo Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez either side of half-time were enough to claim all three points for the runaway Serie A leaders, but Milan dominated large parts of the game, particularly in the first half.

Juve keeper Gianluigi Buffon was on hand to make superb saves from Kaka and Riccardo Montolivo, while the former also saw an effort cleared off the line by Leonardo Bonucci with the scores still level.

Even though the Rossoneri came away from the game with zero points, Seedorf was pleased with the manner in which they approached the challenge of facing the reigning champions.

http://markting10.nl/

"I'd say it was a very good performance. We knew that we were facing a great side, but we imposed our tempo on the game and eliminated their strengths as much as possible," the Dutchman told Sky Sport.

"Juve were able to sit back even more in the second half after taking the lead, but I am impressed with the growth of the team.

Tevez: Milan win vital in Scudetto race

The Argentine striker was delighted with his side's victory
and feels Christian Abbiati had little chance with his goal.

210aceg.jpg

Mar 3, 2014

Juventus star Carlos Tevez has underlined the importance of Sunday's win over AC Milan in the race for the Serie A title.

http://markting10.nl/

Goals from Fernando Llorente and Tevez either side of the break helped the reigning champions to victory at San Siro and the Argentine attacker was quick to stress how vital it was for Juventus to take all three points.

"Sunday's win was incredibly important," Tevez told Sky Sport Italia.

"We knew that Roma hadn't won against Inter and it was vital to get three points – even if this match was worth more than that."

http://markting10.nl/

Tevez effectively put the match to bed with a well-taken shot midway through the second half and he feels Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati never stood a chance.

"The ball dipped very sharply, that's what stopped the goalkeeper from saving it. I don't think he could do anything about it."

Juventus now hold an 11-point lead over Roma, who have one game in hand.

Tevez & Llorente made the difference, says Conte

The Juventus coach has hailed his attack's contribution against Milan
as the Bianconeri continued their charge towards the Serie A title.

2rdua1d.jpg

Mar 3, 2014

Antonio Conte feels Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente made the difference for Juventus in their 2-0 win over AC Milan.

http://markting10.nl/

Both strikers scored once in Sunday's encounter at San Siro to help the reigning champions to the full three points and the 44-year-old has nothing but praise for his attack.

"We didn't have many problems at all in the second half and even doubled our lead through Carlitos," Conte said at a press conference.

"He's the sort of player who the hotter the atmosphere, the more he thrives. He's at his best with his back against the wall.

http://markting10.nl/

"But he's not the only one. I'm thinking of Llorente, who had a wonderful match, worrying the opposition rearguard."

The Juventus coach then went on to praise Milan for their strong display and admitted the Rossoneri made life difficult for the champions before the break.

http://markting10.nl/

"Hopefully we won't run into any tanks in the remainder of the season. Sunday we saw half of one, given the excellent performance Milan put in. They were very bright, full of running and set a high tempo in the first half.

"Hats off to Clarence Seedorf and his team. Let's not forget we drew here in my first season and lost here last year, so I was worried about losing ground on our title rivals."

‘Milan can compete with Juve’ .oddio

vza6v7.jpg

Mar 3, 2014

Adriano Galliani has enthused at the growth he has seen in Milan and remarked at how there was ‘no difference’ yesterday with Juventus.

http://markting10.nl/

The Rossoneri fell to a 2-0 defeat at home to the Bianconeri, but had dominated large passages of play and had missed several goalscoring opportunities before Fernando Llorente netted just before half-time and Carlos Tevez wrapped it up in the second half.

“The team is growing, the first half was beautiful,” began Vice-President Adriano Galliani in conclusion.

“We are progressing, even when we lose and we are sorry - I see the glass as half full. A good defence, good midfield, there are players to return too.

http://markting10.nl/

“Clarence told the players what had been achieved - we have not seen a difference between Milan and Juventus.

“I have spoken to the President and he is calm, satisfied with the performance of the team. This is also his thought, that the team is growing.”

Seedorf: Only a tank can stop Juventus

25031v9.jpg

Mar 3, 2014

AC Milan coach Clarence Seedorf believes Juventus can only be stopped by a “tank” after his side became the latest to lose to the Bianconeri.

http://markting10.nl/

Juve opened up an 11-point advantage at the top of Serie A on Sunday night thanks to a 2-0 win at the San Siro.

Antonio Conte's side could count themselves fortunate to come away with all three points, though, after being put under persistent pressure by the Rossoneri, but for all their efforts, the home side could not break through.

Carlos Tevez's 25-yard piledriver and Fernando Llorente's opener, which the Argentina international helped set up, separated the two adversaries.

http://markting10.nl/

"Only a tank can stop Juve," Seedorf said. "They have always shown their strength and today, [Carlos] Tevez made the difference. He's a world-class player. That touch on the way to the 1-0 was sensational, and then he scored a goal similar to the kind I scored during my career. All you can do is applaud."

With 21 shots to 10, and 58 percent possession, Milan warranted more against the Serie A leaders.

However, it is precisely that ruthlessness which Seedorf believes currently leaves Juve in a league of their own.

"We had plenty of opportunities, but we weren't able to turn them into goals," he said. "The difference is that they have such reliable players, but we've got players like that too, just think of Kaka."

Llorente: AC Milan made it difficult for us

xdijc6.jpg

Mar 3, 2014

Juventus striker Fernando Llorente has commended his side for coming through a difficult test against AC Milan on Sunday evening.

http://markting10.nl/

The Bianconeri eventually ran out 2-0 winners at San Siro, with goals from Llorente and Carlos Tevez either side of half time extending their lead at the top of the table to 11 points, but the Rossoneri also made a good account of themselves on the night.

“It was a difficult game, they played well in the first half, putting us under pressure,” the 29-year-old told Mediaset after the final whistle.

“We didn’t expect that, and it cost us a little, but in the end we had a good passage of play leading up to the first goal, and after the interval we played better.”

http://markting10.nl/

Spain head coach Vincente Del Bosque recently stated that he felt guilty at having left the Basque forward out of la Furia Roja squad for Wednesday evening’s friendly against Italy at the Estadio Vincente Calderon.

“The World Cup is a while away,” he continued.

“The road is long and we still have a lot to prove from now until the end of the season. Anything can happen.”

Milan 0-2 Juventus:
6 Things We Learned

e7cfeq.jpg

Mar 3, 2014

Juve completed a perfect week to extend their lead in the league and get a win over rivals Milan, compounding their miserable season.

http://markting10.nl/

Goals from Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez were enough to give a below-par Bianconeri side a victory that is worrying for the overall standard of Italian football.

Juve appear so strong that they do not even need to be remotely close to their best and they are capable of taking three points from one of the toughest away trips in the league—regardless of the Rossoneri's dismal season.

Here are six things we learned.

http://markting10.nl/

Tevez Should Go to the World Cup

Carlos Tevez has risen to the cry from Juventini to deliver in big games and this week he has owned two of the more important contests in the context of the Old Lady's season.

Victory in the Derby della Mole was expected, but Torino put up a great fight and Juve were able to edge over the line thanks to El Apache's wonderful half-volley.

Carlitos came up trumps again at the San Siro on Sunday with a wonderful long-range strike, which dipped with swerve from side to side to bamboozle Christian Abbiati.

http://markting10.nl/

Tevez provided his usual industry and selfless work for the side and it really does pose the question as to why this man is likely to not go to the World Cup.

Tevez has not played for Argentina in almost three years and has never been called up by Alejandro Sabella.

http://markting10.nl/

And while Argentina aren't exactly short of attacking options, there is no Argentine striker in better form currently.

Simply put, Tevez deserves to go to the World Cup.

http://markting10.nl/

Llorente Also Deserves to Be on His Way to Brazil This Summer

Fernando Llorente is proving to be the perfect centre-forward for Juve and is finally developing an understanding with Tevez, with both scoring in the same match for the fourth time—previously, the pair struck together against Livorno, Atalanta and Hellas Verona.

Llorente has battled hard to hold down his place in the side and has completely solidified that with a fine run of form that has seen him score 11 times in 23 league appearances.

Those stats do not seem that impressive compared to the goal-heavy stats often seen in La Liga, but Serie A is a far tougher league to score in, and considering the year before he barely played for Athletic Bilbao, it is a remarkable transition achieved by the Lion King, as Juventini affectionately refer to him as.

http://markting10.nl/

Diego Costa will surely be the No. 1 striker and while Vicente Del Bosque is not mad on centre-forwards, surely he will include at least two back-up options—although only Alvaro Negredo is a recognised striker in the current squad after the Atletico Madrid frontman.

Llorente is proving he can adapt to a new style of play and his style should be an asset to Spain, even though it contrasts to their identity somewhat.

He can be that live presence when La Roja are forced to play around the edges of the penalty area by a stubborn, disciplined defence.

http://markting10.nl/

Vidal Missed Sorely, Despite Top-Class Back-Ups

Arturo Vidal missed the big clash on Sunday through suspension, and despite Claudio Marchisio obviously being a great replacement, the Chilean was sorely missed.

Without El Guerrero, Juve struggled to control the match, with Milan more than good value for the lead at several points in the match and surely undeserving of a defeat over the 90 minutes.

His energy and work rate, particularly moving off the ball to provide an extra option for a team-mate in possession, are to be admired.

http://markting10.nl/

And this is what seemed to be the problem for the Bianconeri versus Milan: a lack of options whenever in possession and those without the ball often too static.

Conte will be glad to welcome back Vidal next game, as he will know that without him, they got away with one.

http://markting10.nl/

Serie A Title Race Is over

Unfortunately for the league's sake, the title race is over for another season, with this win more or less cementing a third successive title.

Juve moved 11 points clear of Roma, who have a game in hand, which basically ends the Giallorossi's hopes of claiming the scudetto.

Yes, there is a match between the sides at the Olimpico to come, but even if they win this game, they would need to overcome a further five points differential over the remaining 12 matches.

http://markting10.nl/

It is an historic achievement for Juve, one which has not been done for 79 years.

When the inevitable happens, this Juve side will have to be ranked as one of the best ever and the discussion will begin as to who should be considered greater than Conte's men.

http://markting10.nl/

Juve Can Concentrate on the Europa League Now

With an 11-point lead in the league, attentions will now turn to the Europa League.

It may only be a consolation prize after a disastrous Champions League campaign, but with the final in Turin, it has to be one that they take seriously.

It is a great opportunity to build a foundation of success in Europe with this group in order to build upon for next season as they look to make inroads into the knock-out stages of the Champions League.

http://markting10.nl/

A tie with Fiorentina will be tough, especially after the Viola destroyed them 4-2 at the Artemio Franchi earlier in the season.

But with Vincenzo Montella's men still harbouring hope of claiming third place in the league, the advantage will be with Juve in the build-up, with the ability to rest players in the league games before they meet.

http://markting10.nl/

Conte will be bright enough to realise that this is a great opportunity to embed the mentality of European football into the group, familiarising them with the concept of two-legged ties and the different strategies and tactics that will be implemented.

A Serie A and Europa League double will still be considered a success, despite the nightmare experienced in Istanbul.

http://markting10.nl/

Buffon Back to His Best

Gianluigi Buffon was in imperious form on Sunday as it was a rare occasion when Gigi was needed to be on his game with Milan peppering the Juve goal throughout the game.

To ensure a clean sheet was kept was a remarkable achievement by Buffon, especially given the opportunities and pressure exerted by the Rossoneri.

Buffon was rated the man of the match by Who Scored, and it was clear to see with the naked eye, in addition to examining the statistics, why the Azzurri No. 1 came out on top.

http://markting10.nl/

Buffon pulled off eight saves, with the one to deny Kaka especially impressive.

Interestingly, Buffon achieved more touches (60) of the ball than any other Juve player (per Who Scored), which was absolutely necessary.

Milan's relentless pressure, particularly in the first half, forced Juve's defenders to use their keeper more often than usual as a sweeper.

http://markting10.nl/

On occasions, Buffon would launch the ball downfield, but quite often he was clever enough to maintain possession by spreading the ball to the opposite flank.

With 11 accurate long passes (per Who Scored), more than in any of the previous five matches, Buffon's distribution was key to Juve launching counter-attacks to relieve pressure absorbed and counter themselves in a more ruthless fashion than usually associated with this team.

Seedorf: Milan not trying to copy Juventus

The Dutchman is not looking toward the Bianconeri for inspiration,
yet believes Roma face a tough task to get back in the title race.

1gghhl.jpg

Mar 4, 2014

Clarence Seedorf insists AC Milan are looking to create their own identity rather than try and copy the style that has brought Juventus so much success in recent years.

http://markting10.nl/

The Turin side have dominated Serie A for the past two seasons and are on course to make it three domestic titles in a row following this weekend's 2-0 win over the Rossoneri at San Siro.

However, Seedorf is not looking at the titleholders for inspiration, explaining that he has own ideas about how to bring the glory days back to the Giuseppe Meazza.

"We are not trying to be like Juventus. We are Milan and we want to be like Milan," the Dutchman told reporters.

http://markting10.nl/

Seedorf then went on to discuss the Serie A title race and admitted that Juventus appear to be sitting in pole position to retain the Scudetto, given Antonio Conte's men are now 11 points clear of second-placed Roma.

"Indeed, it seems like the Bianconeri are out of their rivals' reach, but the title race is not over yet," he argued.

"Roma are a great team and a comeback is always possible in football. But I admit that it's unlikely that Juventus will throw this lead away."

Prade: Viola can beat Juve again

Mar 5, 2014

Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade believes that his side can beat Juventus in their upcoming clashes.

http://markting10.nl/

Having overcome the Bianconeri 4-2 earlier in the season, the board member has confident that his team can beat Antonio Conte’s outfit in the League this weekend and the Europa League next week.

“We are in the only ones to beat Juventus, and this is a real source of pride for us,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

“I remember that day so clearly. The thrill of scoring three goals in six minutes when we were 2-0 down. It’s a game I’ll never forget.

http://markting10.nl/

“And we will try to repeat that, even though we know it will not be easy. This team will always play to its maximum, because that’s the attitude we demand.

“We know that these games with Juventus are an exciting challenge, and are much-anticipated by our supporters.”

Valero decision on Friday

Mar 5, 2014

The decision on whether to reduce Borja Valero’s four match ban will be made on Friday, it has emerged.

AMAZONIAN

The Spaniard was sent off during Fiorentina’s match with Parma and was handed the additional punishment for laying hands on the referee while he protested.

This infuriated Viola fans, players and directors alike, with supporters making their feelings clear by holding protests against match officials during their most recent League game with Lazio.

AMAZONIAN

Valero has already served one of the four games he was banned for, and should it be overturned on Friday he will likely go straight into Coach Vincenzo Montella’s squad for their match with Juventus two days later.

Marchisio: Forza Napoli? Forza Juve!

Mar 6, 2014

Claudio Marchisio says that Juventus’ attention will not be on hoping Napoli stall Roma’s title bid further, but on Fiorentina.

AMAZONIAN

The Old Lady currently lead second placed Roma by 11 points in Serie A and the Giallorossi face a particular test away to the Vesuviani this Sunday evening.

However, for Marchisio, focus for the Bianconeri cannot move beyond their own tricky opponents this weekend, Fiorentina.

“Forza Napoli this Sunday? I would say forza Juve, because first we have to think about ourselves,” the No 8 explained to reporters, speaking after yesterday’s Italy friendly with Spain.

AMAZONIAN

“We play before and we face a very important challenge. It is going to be a challenge in which we have to be very careful because we will also face them on Thursday in the Europa League.

“We will face three matches with them in two weeks, so it will be very compelling.”

Llorente can’t explain Viola loss

Mar 6, 2014

Juventus striker Fernando Llorente was at a loss to explain the Old Lady’s second half performance in their 4-2 defeat to Fiorentina earlier this season.

AMAZONIAN

The Bianconeri conceded three goals in five minutes towards the end of the match at the Artemio Franchi in October and the Spaniard still doesn’t know how it happened.

“In the first half of that match we played very well,” Llorente told Sky.

“Even in the second half we deserved to score more goals but unfortunately we couldn’t do it.

AMAZONIAN

“Then there were 20 minutes in which Fiorentina played very well and we made a lot of errors in concentration.

“In the end it really was a mess, I really don’t know how it happened.

“Sometimes there are matches like that.”
