Jun 17, 2015 Ex-Juventus striker Nicola Amoruso says Edinson Cavani is the only man who can replace Carlos Tevez if the forward re-joins Boca Juniors this summer. Goal understands the Argentina international, who is currently playing at the Copa America in Chile, has informed Juve he wishes to return to his homeland, leaving the Bianconeri faced with the task of replacing their top goalscorer from each of the last two campaigns. Earlier on Wednesday, the club's CEO Beppe Marotta said Atletico Madrid man Mario Mandzukic would be the ideal replacement, but Amoruso believes Paris Saint-Germain's Cavani is the best option to fill the void. "Tevez is a player who is very difficult to replace," he said to Tuttomercatoweb.com. "Not only from a technical point of view, but also from a point of view of character. "It's even more difficult because we do not know the future of Paul Pogba, but I think Juve have already prepared for this goodbye. "Paulo Dybala is not the right man to replace Tevez. The only man for this difficult task is Cavani." Tevez, 31, joined Juve from Manchester City in 2013 and has since won two Serie A titles as well as reaching last season's Champions League final. Jun 18, 2015 By Kris Voakes | International Football Correspondent From the moment Carlos Tevez told Juventus he would not sign another contract with the club it was clear 2014-15 would be his last season in Turin. The rumours this week that Boca Juniors had visited him at Argentina’s Copa America training camp were quickly followed with confirmation from the Old Lady that their star striker is set to go home. One of the greatest spells in Tevez’s career, and a wonderful period in Juventus’ recent history, is over. It is worth remembering at this time that when he arrived in 2013 to be handed Alessandro Del Piero’s old number 10 shirt many believed it to be sacrilege that he would be the man to follow in the club legend’s footsteps. Tevez may not have left quite the legacy of the former skipper, but he has undoubtedly vacated a more gaping hole in the Juve first team. By the time Del Piero departed in 2012 he was 37 years old and playing only a bit-part role in the Bianconeri’s successes. The Argentine, on the other hand, leaves with plenty still to offer and with no obvious replacement waiting in the wings. Juventus need to move quickly to allay any fears for their forward line. They have already added Palermo’s Paulo Dybala for €32 million, but everyone at the club realises it would be unrealistic to expect the 21-year-old to follow in the footsteps of a man who netted 50 times in his two years in Turin. But then who could? Director general Beppe Marotta has confirmed that Atletico Madrid's star centre-forward could be the man, saying: "If Tevez were to leave, we have identified the player to replace him as Mario Mandzukic. "We all agree on his positive impact. Carlos has this desire to return to South America, to his home in Argentina to end a glorious career." The decision not to stand in Tevez’s way is honourable, but the choice of replacement might not be so wise. It is true that few players on the market could hope to provide the verve, power and dynamism of the 31-year-old, but any belief that the Croatian could provide relief in the striking department appears misguided. One thing Juve have going for them is that Mandzukic is available. Atleti boss Diego Simeone said he doesn’t count the 29-year-old among his list of indispensable players. “Mandzukic? Who goes and who stays is not up to me,” the Argentine boss told Radio Marca. “Of course, at Atletico there are few players who can be considered untouchable: Koke, Diego Godin and that’s about it, I would say.” While Mandzukic did a reasonable job of attempting to replace Diego Costa for the Spanish capital outfit, filling the gap Tevez leaves behind would be an altogether different proposition at Juventus. Nobody would expect the former Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich man to adapt his style of play to mimic Tevez but even as a main target man and goal-getter it is unlikely he will be able to match the impact the little attacker supplied. Mandzukic will score goals, and a fair number of them, but he could well find things more difficult up against the more resilient and uncaring Italian defenders. But there is more to it than just replacing the goals Tevez scored. Mandzukic has tallied 46 himself over the last two years, but it is accepted by the majority of people who have watched Juve since 2013 that it was not just in finding the net that the ex-Manchester City man excelled. The bottom line is that Juventus need more than Mandzukic. They have Alvaro Morata and Paulo Dybala, while Fernando Llorente looks likely to leave. What they really could do with is somebody who can really take the game to an opposing back line. Somebody who can change a match with a single action when things are not going their way. Somebody with guile and pizazz, with that bit of genius and a true big-game attitude. Unfortunately for the Bianconeri, the only player looking to move clubs this summer who fits that description is Tevez. Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Jun 18, 2015 Even while Carlos Tevez continues training and playing alongside his Argentina colleagues in the Copa America, speculation keeps linking the Juventus forward to a permanent move back to South America. This time, there may just be a little more substance to the reports. Should the 31-year-old Boca Juniors icon finally put pen to paper and seal a return to his first club, it would no doubt be the most spectacular transfer in the history of the country's venerable Primera Division. Could it all be true? The story was set in motion this Monday, when Argentina received an unexpected guest at their training base in Chile's La Serena. Boca president Daniel Angelici turned up in the city with the specific aim of talking with Tevez with a view to a transfer at the end of the Copa, as revealed on Twitter by Calcio Mercato and other reputable news sources.calciomercato.it @calciomercatoit BREAKING: Boca Jrs president Daniel Angelici has touched down in Chile to meet with Juventus striker Carlos Tevez From there, the world-class forward—used sparingly so far by the Albiceleste in their opening two matches, a draw and win over Paraguay and Uruguay respectively—has been drawn ever closer to the Argentinian giants. Goal reported that Tevez had already informed the Old Lady that he wanted to move back home, but Angelici told TyC Sport (via the same medium) that there was still some way to go in negotiations with the club. "You have to respect Juventus, the club where he still has a contract, but I'm sure Tevez will stay at Juve or return to Boca," the president explained. "We spoke to Carlitos about his future, but at the moment we're leaving him in peace to concentrate on the Copa America. Afterwards, he'll decide with his club where his future lies, but I'm sure, if not now, it'll be next year [that he returns]." Leading Argentinian journalist Juan Pablo Varsky went even further on Twitter. According to the writer, Tevez would have to promise in a legal document that if he rescinds his contract in Turin it would be to go to Boca, and not another European club (the disparity in financial situations between Italian and Argentinian football obviously discards the chance of the Xeneize buying the player outright).VarskySports @VarskySports Juventus pretende que Tevez se comprometa en un documento a que si queda liberado su destino será Boca. De ahí a sellar la vuelta, un paso. So what would this mean for both Boca and Argentina? To put it simply, it would be a transfer almost without precedent in the last 50 years of the nation's local league. That is not to say, of course, that players with cult followings in the Primera do not return. Juan Sebastian Veron left Europe to guide Estudiantes to the Copa Libertadores in 2009, while Racing Club idol Diego Milito lifted his own silverware last year in winning the league just six months after returning from Inter. From Humberto Maschio in the 1960s to Claudio Caniggia, Diego Maradona and Ariel Ortega in more recent times, there is a long tradition of overseas Argentinian stars coming back to the clubs that brought them into the game. Indeed, the last match before the Primera Division went into recess for the Copa America saw Pablo Aimar finally make his long-awaited second coming in River colours, alongside another prodigal son in Fernando Cavenaghi. The Tevez move, however, is different. This is not a player well into his 30s, in the twilight of his career. Carlitos remains one of the best strikers in world football. A Serie A title with Juve this year, 29 goals in all competitions and a run to the Champions League final gave ample proof of his quality. The nearest comparison would be Juan Roman Riquelme coming back to tread the Bombonera turf in 2007. But the enigmatic playmaker always looked more comfortable in his own backyard. Tevez, on the other hand, has had almost unbroken success since leaving Argentina for Corinthians in 2005 and yet is seemingly ready to throw himself once more into the hurly-burly of the Superclasico and other fierce local clashes. Right now, only the return of Sergio Aguero to Independiente or a dream move for Lionel Messi to Newell's Old Boys could come close to matching this transfer for impact. The news also comes at an extremely sensitive time for Boca themselves. The club, and Angelici's reputation, was severely damaged by the disgraceful scenes that marked a derby Libertadores clash with River last month. Several River players, the Buenos Aires Herald explains, were left needing hospital treatment when Boca barra brava hooligans carried out an attack with a potent homemade "pepper spray." The shameful scenes meant that Boca were kicked out of the South American competition, and this piled pressure on Angelici. Defending his presidency in December's elections, the chief needs a big statement to rehabilitate his reputation—and who better to deliver this than the People's Player, the man most closely associated with the toughness and the unbreakable spirit synonymous with Argentinian football? Constantly weakened by the exodus of its best players to Europe and the rest of the world, Argentinian football needs the presence of an icon like Tevez to shake it out of the current malaise. The Juve man would be taking a great risk in leaving behind the comparative security of Italy to enter back into the chaos of the Primera, but it would be a gigantic coup for the country and its millions of football-mad fans who crave to see the best of their compatriots week in, week out. The striker is believed to be close to sealing a return to his boyhood club, with the Bianconeri admitting that he wants to return to Argentina. “Until we see him in a Boca shirt, I won’t say too much about that,” Arruabarrena told Mediaset. “If he does come, I’ll be happy. He’s a very complete player, that’s why he’s won what he’s won.” However, the tactician hinted that Tevez would not be forming a partnership with former Inter flop Dani Osvaldo. “From a sporting perspective he’s given me the answers I had hoped for, but there are also other considerations, concerning his personal situation and the economic side of things. “Let’s see if a deal can be done, but we’re talking about a lot of money.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Gianluca Di Marzio’s website reports that officials from the Xeneizes will arrive in Italy on Sunday, with the aim of finding an agreement with the Old Lady to cancel Tevez’s contract. The former Manchester City man is tied to the Turin giants until next summer, but with Mario Mandzukic seemingly secured, it’s believed Juve will not stand in the way of a transfer. Jun 21, 2015 Boca Juniors are hopeful they will formalise a deal to sign Carlos Tevez from Juventus by Wednesday. Tevez, 31, has one year remaining on his contract at Juve but has spoken of his desire to return to Boca, his first professional club, for some time. Boca president Daniel Angelici told ESPN FC radio last week that it may be difficult to agree a transfer with the Italian champions, but Carlos Aguas, who serves on the Argentine club's board of directors, said he is now confident that the transfer will happen. "We must wait until Tuesday or Wednesday next week to make Tevez official," he told reporters. "Everything is advanced, but until we have the signature we can't make it official. "We are still missing a few details, which is why Angelici is travelling to Italy. We are going there with a list of players that they want. We're going to find a solution there. We are very close." Italian newspaper Tuttosport has suggested that Boca midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur could be involved in the deal but, part-exchange deals aside, the Argentine club are not planning any other sales. Aguas added: "We don't need to sell anyone to bring 'Carlitos' here -- he is within the [budgetary] parameters. "Without question we are going to have the best squad in Argentine football. We already did, but the arrival of Tevez will lift us even further." Juventus have already secured cover for Tevez as coach Massimiliano Allegri announced last week that Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic has agreed to move to Turin. Atletico had also been keen to sign Tevez this summer, but coach Diego Simeone told TyC Sports he understood his fellow Argentine's desire to return to Boca. "I didn't talk with him, but Atletico did," Simeone said in quotes reported by Marca. "He had the chance to rejoin Boca. "What's important for a world-class player of his calibre is to finish his career where he wants, because he deserves the best and has given so much to the game. He's a much-loved player in Argentina." Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Jun 23, 2015 Juventus board member Pavel Nedved has cast doubt over whether Mario Mandzukic can fill the boots of "irreplaceable" striker Carlos Tevez. The Croatia international, 29, was signed for €19 million from Atletico Madrid on Monday, ending his one-year spell at the Vicente Calderon having joined from Bayern Munich. Mandzukic is intended to cover for the widely expected departure of Tevez, who looks set to swap Turin for boyhood club Boca Juniors upon the current Copa America's completion. However, Bianconeri legend Nedved has questioned whether Tevez's 50 goals and leadership qualities can be mimicked. "Tevez is irreplaceable," Nedved is quoted in Balkan media as saying following confirmation of the Mandzukic deal. "It's a big blow for Juventus that he's going. He's been a leader these past two years. "But he's made a decision because of his family and that must be respected." When asked specifically about the signings that Massimiliano Allegri's Scudetto and Coppa Italia holders have made so far this summer, such as Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala, Nedved suggested positive strides have definitely been made. "The incoming arrivals are all good players that will keep us at the top of Italy and Europe," the former Czech Republic star added. He has one year left to run on his contract and so far negotiations for a cash exchange have not gone well. According to Todo Noticias, the Bianconeri may well have found the solution in the form of 21-year-old striker Calleri. He can play as a centre-forward, a support striker or on the right side of a trident attack. The main stumbling block is represented by Palermo, who have been in negotiations with Calleri for some time. Their deal has not been finalised, so Juve could intercept to get Calleri and perhaps eventually loan him to the Rosanero. The young Argentine is also a known target for Stoke City. Jun 25, 2015 Boca Juniors are hopeful that they will be able to present Carlos Tevez to the club's fans on July 7. Tevez, who began his professional career at Boca, had been expected to return to the Argentine club when his current contract at Juventus expires next year, but they have been negotiating a transfer fee with the Italian champions this week. Boca said at the weekend that they were confident a deal would be agreed and general secretary Cesar Martucci has now indicated that it is in place. He told AM 1050: "We are very happy. After a lot of work, we have nailed down the return of Carlos Tevez." No details of the agreement have been revealed but it is reported that Boca have agreed to pay €5 million as well as offering a player in exchange, with 21-year-old striker Jonathan Calleri touted as a likely option by El Intransigente. Italy's Tuttosport has also suggested midfielder Guido Vadala and Uruguayan defender Rodrigo Bentancur as potential options. "We have not mortgaged the fate of the club to bring back Carlos Tevez," Martucci said. Tevez, 31, joined Boca as a youth in 1997 before agreeing a move to Brazilian side Corinthians in December 2004, but he has always spoken of a desire to return to the Buenos Aires-based club while still capable of performing at a high level. "In Argentine football, there is not another player like Carlitos," Martucci added. "This is a great joy for all the fans of Boca. "Unlike many players who returned, Carlos Tevez returns at the maximum. Hopefully the return of Carlos Tevez will give the Boca fans the results they expect." Tevez had already been scheduled to play in former Boca midfielder Sebastian Battaglia's valedictory match on July 8, and Martucci said: "It is likely that we may present Tevez day before Battaglia's farewell game." Martucci said he hoped Boca would be able to retain Southampton striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, who has been on loan at the club since February. "Whether he stays or not depends on the English club," he said. "Hopefully the return of Carlitos will be an influence." Juve, who have already secured deals for Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic this summer, have reluctantly agreed to grant Tevez his wish to return. The sale of the 31-year-old, who has scored 19 and 20 goals in his two seasons in Serie A, will take an estimated €5 million off the Bianconeri's wage bill next season. Jun 26, 2015 The return of Carlos Tevez to Boca Juniors won't cost the Argentine club "not even one euro" because the club is covering his remaining value with a percentage of young players, Boca president Daniel Angelici told ESPNFC Radio. Angelici, who said that Tevez will be presented at his boyhood club either July 6 or 7, assured that Boca won't pay anything for Tevez. "I said from the beginning that I wouldn't discuss the transfer until it was done and the very next day what I read in the media was that the Tevez transfer would cost Boca €5 million in addition to a percentage, but I want to clarify that this transfer won't cost Boca a single euro," Angelici said. "They [Juventus] put a value similar to amortization of the balance due and we covered that by giving them some players and the promise of younger players and we are looking into equalising the rest of the contract that way." Tevez joined Boca as a youth in 1997 before agreeing a move to Brazilian side Corinthians in December 2004, and then on to Premier League clubs West Ham, Manchester United and Manchester City before signing for Juve in 2013 for £12 million. Tevez scored 19 and 20 goals in his two seasons in Serie A and helped Juventus to two Serie A titles and one Coppa Italia. He has always spoken of a desire to return to the Buenos Aires-based club while still capable of performing at a high level. The 31-year-old's current remaining contract with the Bianconeri is estimated to be worth €5 million. "Everything I do, I do for the good of the club. I am the same person as when I was club treasurer, I know the club finances. I am not going to go crazy. When I go after a player, I am strong and I am convinced. You are all going to see because it will be public. We have had a solid administration over the past three years, we are going to close out with 63 million (Argentine pesos) in profit," Angelici said. "We always said that if Carlos won titles in Italy, Juve would not put up obstacles, so we are very grateful for his return to Argentina. "I have been in contact with Carlos, he is focused right now on Copa America as it must be and I hope he can bring that back too. Once he finishes he will have five or six days of holiday because he played Champions as well. Then we will have his signing and presentation July 6 or 7 followed by a farewell match in Bataglia on July 8." Angelici said a July 15 match is also in the works vs. Quilmes and added that he is working on making sure Tevez can wear No. 10 as he did in his first stay with Boca. Jun 27, 2015 Carlos Tevez has left Juventus to return to Boca Juniors, the Argentine club have announced. It's official: Carlos Tevez returns to Boca". The announcement was made during Argentina's Copa America quarter-final clash with Colombia, which went to penalties and was settled by Tevez himself, who scored his sudden-death effort to secure a 5-4 victory.Boca Jrs. Oficial ✔@BocaJrsOficial Lo dijimos cuando entró: @carlitos3210, jugador de @BocaJrsOficial, ingresa en @Argentina para ganar el partido. #TevezVuelveACasa We said it when he came on: Tevez, the Boca Juniors player, goes on for Argentina to win the game. Tevez joined the youth ranks at Boca in 1997 and spent three years in the senior team between 2001 and 2004, winning the Copa Sudamericana and Libertadores as well as the Intercontinental Cup. He signed for Brazilian outfit Corinthians at the start of 2005, before sealing a controversial move to West Ham in the 2006-07 season, alongside compatriot Javier Mascherano. Tevez played a key role in the the Hammers' Premier League survival that season but the club avoided a points deduction despite breaching England's third-party ownership rules in recruiting the two Argentina internationals. The forward moved on to Manchester United that summer and spent two seasons on loan at Old Trafford before sealing another controversial transfer, this time across town to Manchester City. His time in England was to be shrouded in controversy, though, and he missed a large part of the 2011-12 campaign after refusing then boss Roberto Mancini's orders to warm up during a Champions League clash against Bayern Munich. After falling out with Mancini, failing to secure a transfer away and receiving a hefty fine, Tevez returned from a long spell in Argentina to help the club win their first Premier League title. After a final season in the Premier League he moved to Juventus in 2013, forming a key part of title-winning teams under Antonio Conte and Max Allegri. Last season he scored 29 times as Juve won the Serie A title and Coppa Italia, although they were beaten in the Champions League final by Barcelona. During his time in Europe Tevez won three Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the League Cup, the Champions League, two Serie A titles and the Coppa Italia. He signed a three-year deal, then he would head back home in the summer of 2016 and that would be that. As it turns out, the homecoming is happening 12 months earlier than initially thought. Boca Juniors have announced on Friday night the deal we've been expecting for weeks now. Tevez, who Juventus signed two summers ago from Manchester City, is going back to the club he started at. No word on a transfer fee — if there will be any — just yet, after Boca President Daniel Angelici said Tevez's return wouldn't cost the club a single euro. Tevez, who had one year remaining on his contract, had an amazing two years with Juventus. He 50 goals in his two seasons, ranking atop the Serie A scoring charts in both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 campaigns. He was, without question, one of Juventus' best players over that time span, with his goals and grinta leading Juventus to another two Serie A titles and the Champions League final. (At least he doesn't have to hear about his European scoreless drought anymore. So he's got that going for him, which is nice, I guess.) But the lingering uncertainty surrounding his future was present both this summer and last. Like I said, he was always going back to Boca, but we just didn't think it would be this soon. Even as rumors of Atletico Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain getting into the mix to try and bring the 31-year-old Tevez to Spanish and France, respectively, it was always going to be Boca Juniors Tevez was going to play for next season if it wasn't Juventus. And now, here we are. Tevez is heading home and Juventus is preparing for life with a front line of Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic and Álvaro Morata. (Yeah, I think it's safe to say Juve are going to be okay without Tevez, even as hard as it will be to fill all the holes Carlitos' departure will leave.) We'll always have the good times, Carlos. Thank you for giving your all and enjoy all the beautiful beaches in Argentina. Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti
Socrates 8469 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 134310 messaggi Inviato June 27, 2015 Man of the moment Tevez seals dream move & Copa America redemption in one night The striker's return to Boca Juniors was announced shortly before he converted Argentina's winning penalty against Colombia. http://www.goal.com/en/news/1717/editorial/2015/06/27/13088182/dream-night-for-man-of-moment-tevez?ICID=TP_HN_1 Jun 27, 2015 By Kris Voakes at the Estadio Sausalito Both off the pitch and on it, it turned out to be Carlos Tevez’s night. The Argentina striker was sat watching from the substitutes' bench for much of the Copa América quarter-final against Colombia, but he was still making headlines long before he entered the fray. Boca Juniors announced early in the second half that they had re-signed Tevez from Juventus 10 years after he had left the club for Corinthians. It was a move he had longed for over a period of some months. Having warned Juve earlier this year that his existing contract – with its 2016 expiry date – would be the last he would sign in Europe, the Italians were forced to battle to hold on to him - even for the final year. On Friday, they officially lost their battle. But the more immediate concern for Tevez remained Argentina's own battle on the field. Never had they deserved a victory more, but they couldn't break through and were ultimately taken all the way. Gerardo Martino's side had been utterly dominant in the first half. They asked so many questions of Colombia that it seemed impossible they would fail to score. Somehow, their opponents made it to the interval unscathed. Whether it was by last-ditch defending, cynical fouling or – most notably – David Ospina’s fantastic goalkeeping, they managed to just about hang on during the opening 45 minutes. The overzealous refereeing of Roberto Garcia didn't help much. One minute he was booking everyone in sight, the next he was allowing players to kick their way through the contest. It was a similar story after the break, but Colombia survived against the odds. Nicolas Otamendi’s header was tipped onto the bar by the irrepressible Ospina, while Ever Banega’s effort from distance grazed the same goal frame. There were more goal-line clearances and last-ditch panic reactions to thwart the Argentines and lead Jose Pekerman’s side to a penalty shoot-out. One of the best 0-0 draws in some time was also a magnificent advertisement for the concept of extra-time. Even 30 more minutes might not have sated the appetite of the fans in Vina del Mar, but the format of Copa America sent us straight to penalties, where there was even more drama. Luca Biglia and Marcos Rojo both squandered chances to win the contest after Luis Muriel’s dreadful miss and Sergio Romero’s save from Juan Zuniga. Jeison Murillo then sent his effort on the same trajectory as Muriel’s, giving Argentina yet another opportunity to finish it off. Up stepped Tevez. The man who missed the crucial penalty as his country was eliminated from the 2011 version of the same competition. The man who has had such a battle just to be considered for international selection over the past four years. The man of the moment after his Boca Juniors deal was wrapped up and signed off. He found the back of the net and started the double celebration. Argentina deservedly progress to the semi-finals, but the nervous nature in which they finally won says there is still work to do. They were excellent in 90 per cent of their play, but have scored only twice in their last three games. One has to believe it will take a more clinical touch to take them all the way this time around. For now though, it is Tevez’s moment. Socrates 8469 Joined: 04-Apr-2006 134310 messaggi Inviato June 28, 2015 Why Carlos Tevez Should Have Stayed at Juventus for Another Season http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2508363-why-carlos-tevez-should-have-stayed-at-juventus-for-another-season? Jun 28, 2015 In Europe, we’re spoilt with most of the very best talents in the world game, but that doesn’t make it any less disappointing when we lose one. All footballers and all people, whether it involves moving continents, countries, cities or towns, have an urge to return home eventually, and that is why Carlos Tevez’s decision to reunite with his family and rejoin his old club Boca Juniors—whom he first played for at 16 years old—can only be viewed as nothing but a happy one. It’s just, well, he’ll be missed. Tevez’s nine-year European career might end up being viewed as one of controversy, of off-field acts and deeds—not always his own—dictating his future, but it shouldn’t be forgotten that he has been one of the best forwards on the continent in the past decade when he’s allowed himself to be and certainly one of the most watchable. From pitching up alongside Javier Mascherano at West Ham United in 2006 and being thrown into an uncomfortable photograph with Alan Pardew, Tevez’s European career always seems to have been one that has gone against the grain. You’ve never quite known what would happen next. After Mascherano quickly jumped ship to Liverpool, Tevez stayed and scored the goals that kept West Ham up, relegated Sheffield United and created a legal battle the likes of which the Premier League has never seen before or since, as detailed by the Independent's Jason Burt. As that rumbled on, he joined Manchester United, making waves there for a couple of seasons before doing probably the most disruptive thing he could have done and forcing through a move to "noisy neighbours" Manchester City through his now infamous representative Kia Joorabchian. On the other side of the Manchester divide, there were goals, inflammatory signs during victory parades and the failure to get off the substitutes’ bench in Munich when instructed to do so by then-manager Roberto Mancini, and so the Tevez story went on. All of this we remember, of course, but it was when the forward moved to Juventus two summers ago that we started to see a new, slimmed-down Tevez 2.0. He now looked simultaneously leaner and hungrier, and he scored 50 goals in his two seasons in Turin—winning two Serie A titles and reaching a Champions League final. Perhaps it was a simple case of improving with age, but a more likely explanation is that Juve found a way to get the best out of the Argentinian by creating their team around him, thereby keeping Tevez motivated and dedicated to the cause. His experiences in Manchester add weight to this theory. Upon arriving at Old Trafford in the summer of 2007, Tevez quickly clicked with Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney to form an often devastating attacking trio that helped United to win both the Premier League and Champions League with what was arguably Sir Alex Ferguson’s last truly entertaining side. Only the regular back four of Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Wes Brown started more league games for United that season than Tevez, whose 19 goals in all competitions was the second-highest at the club after the rapidly evolving Ronaldo’s extraordinary tally of 42. But Ferguson—perhaps because of off-field reasons more than anything happening on the pitch— decided that things needed to change and sanctioned the £30 million signing of Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham Hotspur. It was a move that often forced Tevez to the sidelines and resulted in fitness and form problems throughout a 2008/09 season in which his impact largely came from the bench. He became unhappy and wasn’t afraid to show it. Perhaps with the notion of spiting Ferguson, the City move then allowed him to showcase his talents as one of the main men again. He scored 29 goals in his first season and 23 in his second, all the time earning the love of City’s fans and the scorn of United’s as he did so. There were still the dramas, obviously—such as a transfer request halfway through his second season in December 2010, as reported by BBC Sport—but they were largely indulged because of his talent and importance to the cause. However, when City signed his compatriot Sergio Aguero in the summer of 2011, things began to go sour. With the dislike for Ferguson becoming less relevant, and Aguero and January 2011 signing Edin Dzeko making his position at the club less vital, the form and fitness issues came back, culminating in the farcical night at the Allianz Arena in September 2011 when he refused to get off the substitutes’ bench to warm up. Despite how it appeared that night, Tevez’s City career continued for a while longer, but the club would never see the best of him again—something that Juventus fans have been treated to since he moved to Turin in 2013. And that is why it is a shame he is cutting his union with the club short this summer, especially after he helped drag the Old Lady kicking and screaming back to the grandest continental stage imaginable. The Tevez of Juventus was a different player to the one of West Ham or either Manchester club, but there is a strong argument to say he was better. Faster, stronger and fitter, he would produce wonderful moments of inspiration, such as a fine goal when running from the halfway line against Parma or the burst that earned him a penalty—which he converted—in the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid. We’ll still see that at Boca, of course, but from a purely selfish viewpoint, it would have been nice to have seen the 31-year-old leading Juve’s assault on the Champions League again in 2015/16. There is a sense that he didn't show what he was capable of for much of his time in that competition. His choice to return to South American football should be respected and applauded. Bar one half of Sheffield and a few bruised Manchester United fans, Europe will miss him, and no one here will forget him in a hurry. Jul 7, 2015 Carlos Tevez’s Boca Juniors presentation has been slightly postponed, to allow the Argentine some time for vacation. The former Juventus striker has just now concluded a Copa America campaign with Argentina, when the Albiceleste lost in the final to hosts Chile. Ole report that the most plausible date for Tevez’s presentation would be July 13. The media confirm that the club has chosen this later date, delaying from the initial decision to present him right after the Copa America, to allow Tevez a rest. Boca Juniors have already made plans to present the 31-year-old at the Bombonera, according to Ole. Tevez returns Boca Juniors, which he left in 2004. The Argentine striker enjoyed two successful seasons with the Bianconeri, winning two Scudetti, a Coppa Italia, a Supercoppa Italiana and reaching the Champions League final. The new Boca Juniors striker had made 32 appearances in Serie A, scoring 20 goals and providing seven assists. Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti
