Vucinic calls for Juventus focus ahead of Lazio and Chelsea clashes

The Bianconeri forward has warned his team-mates not to be complacent ahead

of facing Vladimir Petkovic's men on Saturday then Roberto Di Matteo's side in the midweek.

Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic has called for concentration of his team-mates going into their crucial clashes with Lazio and Chelsea this week.

The reigning Serie A champions have some tough games ahead of them domestically as well as in the Champions League, and the Biancocelesti will be looking to take advantage of the giants' tiring schedule.

The Montenegro international is aware about the critical situation in front of his team and insists they must face the challenge head-on.

"We cannot drop our guard this week," the former Roma striker was quoted as saying on Juventus' official website.

"These are three games which could determine the destiny of our season, between the Scudetto and the Champions League. We cannot afford to put a foot wrong, especially against Chelsea."

Ghanaian midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah agrees with his team-mate that The Old Lady has to keep working hard in order to meet their goal this term.

"We’ve started the season well and taken a lot of points, but there are still plenty of games to play and we need to hang in there," he told reporters.

Juventus sit top of Serie A with an eight-point lead over fifth-placed Lazio, whose captain - Stefano Mauri - will miss their match after getting sent off against Roma last weekend. The clash is set to start at 18.00 CET on Saturday.

Lazio boss excited by Juve test

Vladimir Petkovic says his Lazio side "need to be at 150%" as they prepare to face Juventus in Turin on Saturday.

The Bosnian Coach, who led the Biancocelesti to a 3-2 victory over Roma in last weekend's ill-tempered derby della Capitale is looking forward to seeing how his side - currently sitting in fourth place in Serie A - measure up against the Champions and league leaders.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference he said: "The effect of the derby has now worn off and we know we'll be facing a great team. Juventus are the Scudetto favourites and we want to see how we measure up.

"We're aware we will need to be at 150% if we're to take a positive result from the game. We need to be compact, cynical, highly disciplined and focused, without giving anything away."

Meanwhile Juventus continued their self-imposed press silence which began after the verbal barrage directed at assistant coach Angelo Alessio following the controversial away win in Catania.

They have named a full squad for the visit of Lazio with Andrea Pirlo the only absentee through suspension.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has been widely tipped to replace the Italian international in Antonio Conte's 3-5-2 formation after being recalled to the squad following his recent disciplinary issues.

Miroslav Klose expected to miss Juventus clash

Lazio coach Vladimir Petkovic has admitted that Miroslav Klose is likely to miss this weekend's Serie A encounter with Juventus.

The German striker was forced to sit out his country's friendly draw with the Netherlands in midweek due to a cold.

"We have to be cautious with Klose," Petkovic told reporters. "He's not very well at all. He's got a cough and, although he has trained, he's not in top shape."

Vucinic out of Juventus-Lazio

Mirko Vucinic has been ruled out of today’s Juventus-Lazio clash after coming down with the flu.

A note on the official club website confirmed Vucinic “will not be able to give his contribution in the game against Lazio.”

His symptoms worsened considerably overnight and the Montenegro striker has already left the Juventus training camp.

It is hoped he can recover in time for Tuesday’s big Champions League showdown with Chelsea.

Marchetti awaits Juve test

Federico Marchetti is looking forward to facing Juventus today and hopes he “can convince” Cesare Prandelli too.

The Lazio goalkeeper is expecting a busy evening in Turin when it kicks off at 18.00.

“We must do well to contain Juve and propose our usual style of play. Edy Reja achieved great results, but Vladimir Petkovic has brought enthusiasm, modern football and always tells us to take it day by day.

“Gigi Buffon is among the best goalkeepers in the world,” he told Tuttosport. “I know he spoke highly of me, but he also said a great thing which is that since he was a young man he has only ever tried to be Buffon.

“Idols and inspirations are only in childhood. I am 29 now and know what I have to do to improve. I am Marchetti and will focus only on being Marchetti.”

Paul Pogba stands in for Andrea Pirlo, while Miroslav Klose and Antonio Candreva are extra motivated as Lazio visit Juventus at 18.00.

The huge clash is between the Serie A leaders and the side currently in fifth place, who are fresh from winning the Derby della Capitale.

Juve have comfortably won both games since their 49-match unbeaten Serie A streak was ended here by Inter, but must do without star midfielder Pirlo.

The veteran is suspended, so makes way for Pogba after he was dropped for turning up late to training last week.

Mirko Vucinic is also out, as he left the camp this morning after coming down with flu symptoms, so Fabio Quagliarella partners Sebastian Giovinco.

Mauricio Isla is again picked to start in place of out-of-favour Stephan Lichtsteiner.

Lazio also have to deal with absentees, as Senad Lulic and Stefano Mauri both sit out bans with Modibo Diakite, Francelino Matuzalem and Giuseppe Sculli unavailable.

Klose is eager to score his first Serie A goal against Juventus, while Candreva is motivated by the fact he played for the Bianconeri and they did not take up their option to make the loan permanent.

Juve must also take into account Tuesday’s Champions League showdown with Chelsea.

Sebastian Giovinco created some great opportunities and Juventus dominated the first half, but it’s still goalless at the break with Lazio.

The Serie A leaders welcomed fifth-placed Lazio and Paul Pogba stood in for the suspended Andrea Pirlo a week after the Frenchman was dropped for turning up late to training. Mirko Vucinic was a last-minute absentee with flu, while Lazio had Stefano Mauri and Senad Lulic banned.

Federico Marchetti had a worrying moment in the third minute, as an over-hit back-pass caused him real problems, but he managed to dribble away from Sebastian Giovinco with some smart footwork.

Kwadwo Asamoah surged down the left and stung Marchetti’s palms at the near post. A defensive error allowed Giovinco to kick with his back to goal, forcing a great save out of Marchetti on the line, then Fabio Quagliarella hit the side-netting on the follow-up from close range.

During that move, Andre Dias landed awkwardly and limped off for Michael Ciani. Giovinco hooked a cross with a divine first touch, but turned and drilled just wide.

Moments later the Atomic Ant hooked another long ball over the top with a wonderful touch when surrounded by defenders, but once more the angled drive was off target.

Arturo Vidal was barged off the ball just outside the area, but the referee waved for him to get back up. Giorgio Chiellini did well to cut off Hernanes after a rare Lazio foray forward.

Juventus stuttered to a goalless draw against a determined but limited Lazio, who barely had a sniff of their opponents' goal and relied on an inspired performance from goalkeeper Federico Marchetti.

The Old Lady dominated proceedings and spent the final half an hour in the visitors' half, but never really looked like finding a way past Marchetti, even though Leonardo Bonucci rattled the crossbar from close range.

The game started slowly, and the home side only had a speculative effort from Kwadwo Asamoah to show for their early endeavours.

Antonio Conte's side went closer after 18 minutes; after controlling a high ball, Sebastian Giovinco forced a fine low save from Marchetti with a half-volley on the turn, while Fabio Quagliarella could only fire the loose ball into the side netting from an awkward angle. With a little of the composure he has shown in recent weeks, the Italian might have given his side the lead.

Giovinco was at the heart of everything good as far as Juve were concerned in the first half, and had two opportunities to score the opening goal in a matter of moments. First, with a piece of skill similar to his earlier half-volley, he superbly brought down Mauricio Isla's right-wing pass and flashed a shot wide of the post from the edge of the area, before repeating the trick seconds later when he controlled Leonardo Bonucci's long ball and dragged another effort across goal.

Lazio had little to show for themselves throughout, but Hernanes, as ever, looked to be their biggest threat during the first half. The Brazilian offered a warning to the Bianconeri with a driving run through their midfield 10 minutes before the break, only to be snuffed out. It was to be the story of the night for the away side.

The hosts finished the half on top in terms of possession, but without anything to show for their efforts, and that would be, ultimately, how the game ended.

A minute into the new half, Pogba lashed an effort over the bar from 25 yards as the Frenchman signalled his, and his team's, attacking intent.

Conte's men upped the tempo, but still they could not break down the Biancocelesti back-line, often due to poor service from the wide areas.

Yet they almost went ahead when Quagliarella deflected Arturo Vidal's long-range effort towards goal, only for Marchetti to change direction and push the ball over the crossbar thanks to a fine reaction save.

Marchetti came to his side's rescue yet again moments later when he got down low to cut out Isla's low ball across the area with Quagliarella waiting to pounce. It was to be the striker's last involvement in the game, as he swiftly made way for Alessandro Matri.

Again Juve came forward and again it was a low cross from the Chilean winger, but this time Abdoulay Konko was on hand to clear the danger with his goalkeeper beaten.

They came closer still with 15 minutes on the clock. This time Bonucci crashed the ball off the crossbar from around six yards out out following Matri's downward header. Had he gone to finish with a bit more control, Juve may have had their goal.

That man Marchetti was at full strength again three minutes later to keep out Matri's curling effort from 25 yards.

As the final whistle approached, the home side poured forward with more urgency than they had done at the end of the first half, but the end result was the same; they could not conjure up a piece of magic to carve open Lazio.

The Turin side have now failed to win their last two home league matches, and although they will move five points ahead of second-placed Inter, Andrea Stramaccioni's side will have the opportunity to close the gap at the top to two points when they play Cagliari on Sunday.

Marchetti performed an absolutely sensational save on the hour mark, as a long-range Vidal shot was deflected off Quagliarella, but the goalkeeper managed to change direction mid-air to palm it out from under the crossbar!

Marchetti was again crucial to push a pass off the feet of Quagliarella from four yards and Abdoullay Konko risked an own goal to clear over the bar. Simone Pepe was introduced for his first Serie A match of the campaign.

Marchetti was eventually beaten on 75 minutes, but he was saved by the woodwork, as Leonardo Bonucci smacked his finish on to the crossbar from a corner.

The Lazio goalkeeper was on stunning form and got down to beat a Claudio Marchisio strike off the line with one hand.

There were some timid appeals for a penalty, but Cristian Ledesma’s arm was practically behind his back when the cross struck him.

Marchetti keeps Juventus at bay

Federico Marchetti produced a goalkeeping masterclass to deny Juventus all three points as resilient Lazio negotiated a goalless draw with the reigning Serie A champions.

Juve had responded to their first league defeat in 50 games - courtesy of Inter Milan - by beating FC Nordsjaelland 4-0 and Pescara 6-1 but, with Lazio chasing Champions League football, the Romans were in no mood to roll over in Turin.

Sebastian Giovinco and Fabio Quagliarella proved particularly dangerous to Marchetti in the visiting goal but the former Torino stopper repelled everything that came his way to consign Juve to a first home stalemate since February.

Fresh from victory in the Rome derby, a point for Vladimir Petkovic's men ensures another week in fifth place ahead of tomorrow's fixtures.

Marchetti needed to display some fancy footwork in the third minute, a clumsy backpass causing all sorts of problems as Giovinco lurked nearby.

Kwadwo Asamoah worked Marchetti's palms with a rasping effort from the left flank, but it was Giovinco who provided a sterner test as he tried his luck with his back to goal.

Marchetti was equal to that attempt but he was grateful for Quagliarella's faulty radar as the Juve striker slammed into the side netting from close range.

Giovinco was eager to grab a third goal in as many games and it nearly came when the diminutive forward dug out a sumptuous strike despite heavy pressure from the visiting defenders.

Lazio had managed to save some energy for a surprise counter-attack just before the break, but the imposing Giorgio Chiellini cut out Hernanes' tricky run before he could carve out an opening.

Paul Pogba, deputising for the suspended Andrea Pirlo, tested Marchetti's concentration after the break and the Lazio man looked lively once again.

His reactions were more seriously tested in the 62nd minute, though, but he guessed right as Arturo Vidal's shot took a wicked deflection off Quagliarella.

Alessandro Matri duly emerged for the tiring Quagliarella and Petkovic took to the touchline to urge retreat in anticipation of one last Juventus push.

With 10 men packing the Biancocelesti box, Claudio Marchisio was restricted to shooting from distance, to no avail, while Andrea Barzagli appealed unsuccessfully for a penalty when Cristian Ledesma appeared to handle the ball.

Five minutes of stoppage time felt like an eternity for Lazio, but the side who had failed to summon a single shot on target would leave Turin with a valuable point.

Biancocelesti hold off Bianconeri pressure

Juventus and Lazio played out a 0-0 draw at the Juventus Stadium in Serie A on Saturday evening.

The Bianconeri started the game with pace. Their opening chance came after one minute through Arturo Vidal, he dribbled past three defenders and played a through ball for Fabio Quagliarella, but he couldn’t get his foot to it.

Ninety seconds later, Marchetti was pressured by Sebastian Giovinco on a backpass, but the Lazio goalkeeper got away with some lovely footwork, skinning Giovinco to get out of danger.

In the 15th minute, Lazio finally got an attempt after a dominant spell of Juve possession. Stefan Radu blasted a header inches over the bar from a corner kick, but it would’ve been negated had it gone in thanks to a foul in the box. Two minutes past when Claudio Marchisio put Giovinco through, but his shot was saved by Marchetti. Quagliarella pounced on the rebound, but fired it into the side netting.

Giovinco again found himself with another opportunity in the 31st. He collected Mauricio Isla’s cross and had a hit, but it slid just wide of the goal. It was Giovinco who popped up again just seconds later. He received Leonardo Bonucci’s pass, controlled well, but the following effort went wide past a wide-eyed Marchetti.

There was controversy on 34 minutes. Vidal carried the ball into the penalty area and appeared to have been upended by Cristian Ledesma’s clumsy looking challenge, but referee Daniele Orsato was having none of it.

The Bianconeri started the second half like they did in the first and got an effort on 54 minutes from it. Quagliarella found Giovinco who managed to break through towards goal, but he laid it off to Isla instead. The Chilean hit a cross into the area, unfortunately no one was there on the follow up.

The best moment for Juve came on 61 minutes. Vidal tried from distance, it was deflected by Quagliarella, but Marchetti showed off some amazing reflexes and parried the ball over the bar. 65th minute produced another Juventus hit as Marchisio tipped Isla’s cross, but Marchetti got down quickly to keep it out. Isla again caused problems for Lazio’s defense with another cross, but Abdoulay Konko turned it over the bar.

On 70 minutes, Simone Pepe made his return after a long injury layoff, replacing Isla. Juve nearly took advantage on a corner in the 73rd. Andrea Barzagli flicked the ball towards Bonucci, but he struck the bar on the follow up. Claudio Marchisio popped up with an effort in the 78th, but the strong shot was knocked away by Marchetti.

The last ten minutes went by without any more opportunities for either team despite some attack minded substitutions. In the end both sides split the points. It’s the fourth time in 24 games where Juventus failed to win, while Lazio have now gone four matches without a victory.

Juventus Held to a Scoreless Draw by Lazio in Turin

Italian Champions Juventus were held to a scoreless draw at the Juventus Stadium in what can only be described as a boring encounter against Lazio. The draw sees Juventus open up a five-point gap at the head of the Serie A, with the bulk of matches to be played tonight.

It was a tentative opening few minutes at the Juventus stadium with both sides lacking that final pass to create a clear-cut opportunity. Aside from some fancy footwork from Lazio's goalkeeper Federico Marchetti, the opening third of the match was filled with back passes, misplaced passes and exchanges in the middle of the park.

After Miroslav Klose took things into his own hands (literally), things started to heat up. The German threw Giorgio Chiellini to the ground during a set-piece. From here, the game began to open up with the Bianconeri clearly on the ascendance.

Kwadwo Asamoah was proving impossible to deal with down the left wing, testing out Marchetti with a driven shot in the 16th minute of the match, Just minutes later, it was Giovinco who was at the Lazio defence, evading Dias to attempt an Ibrahimovician-like goal. Marchetti saved at the last second and Fabio Quagliarella's follow up could only manage the side netting.

Although quiet for most of the first half, Lazio did eventually create an opportunity thanks to Brazilian playmaker Hernanes. The Brazilian, with the assistance of some fancy footwork and pace tore up the Juventus midfield, linked up nicely with Klose, but took one too many touches losing the ball inside the Juventus box. The score remained 0-0.

On the other side of the park, Giovinco was causing all kinds of havoc for the Lazio centre-back pairing of Giuseppe Biava and Michael Ciani. First a ball from Isla was nicely controlled but directed wide by the Italian international. Then, in the very next play, the former Parma player found himself one-on-one with Marchetti, but in a similar fashion directed wide to the left of the post. That was how it stayed, scoreless in the first half.

Paul Pogba started the second half in brighter fashion for Juventus taking a shot early on. However, Juventus failed to capitalise on this good start. The state of the game was perhaps best encapsulated when Federico Marchetti was booked for time wasting in the 51st minute.

Juventus continued to press forward and after a close range Chiellini shot was expertly saved, Juventus turned to Alessandro Matri to try and grab a lead. However the Italian failed to make an impact and although Sebastian Giovinco was continuing to prove threatening, no goal would eventuate.

Amidst desperate shouts for handballs in the penalty area, diving and injuries, Juventus vs Lazio ultimately proved a poor showing from both sides. Juventus will need to improve dramatically if they want to have any chance of penetrating Chelsea's defence midweek.

JUVENTUS

Gianluigi Buffon - Untested throughout.

Giorgio Chiellini - His usual solid self. He gave Lazio no chance on the rare occasions they got forward.

Andrea Barzagli - Another impressive display at the back. Kept his concentration throughout and didn't give the visitors a sniff.

Leonardo Bonucci - Solid at the back but might have scored the winner had he shot with a little more control.

Mauricio Isla - Did very little down the right, a couple of crosses aside. Will have to do more in Juve's demanding wide role.

Paul Pogba - Again looked the most direct and forward-thinking of the three central schemers, but was essentially short of ideas. Substituted.

Claudio Marchisio - A tidy performance both in possession and when defending. Retained and regained the ball well.

Kwadwo Asamoah - Looked a decent outlet down the left in the first half but tailed off. Often showed good footwork but crosses were wayward.

Arturo Vidal - Pulled the strings with a number of astute passes and almost produced a goal when his shot was deflected. He's back in form.

Sebastian Giovinco - Showed some exquisite control at times but his shooting boots had deserted him. Influence faded as the game went on.

Fabio Quagliarella - Had a great chance to open the scoring but fired into the side netting. Did little else. Substituted.

Substitutions

Simone Pepe - Did little after coming on.

Nicklas Bendtner - Made no impact despite Juve's late pressure.

Alessandro Matri - Did little after coming on.

LAZIO

Federico Marchetti - Made a string of fine saves to keep Juve at bay, including a world-class stop to keep out Vidal's deflected effort.

Andrè Dias - On his game to deny Juve some good openings and played his part as the away defence held on for a point.

Giuseppe Biava - Impressive at the heart of defence and made a hatful of tackles and clearances that eventually proved vital.

Stefan Radu - Solid first half in keeping Isla quiet and only improved as the first half went on. Made some crucial interceptions.

Abdoulay Konko - Another good full-back display in the first half, this time marginalising Asamoah. Again he kept up his form to stay strong after the break.

Hernanes - Looked liveliest for the visitors in a poor first half overall, but faded as the match wore on.

Alvaro Gonzalez - Anonymous in the first period and did little more in the second half.

Cristian Ledesma - Made a couple of enterprising passes and recovered possession on several occasions, not that his side used it particularly well.

Cristian Brocchi - Held his position well to try to disrupt Juve's midfielders. Strong, if unspectacular, display.

Antonio Candreva - Did his share of the dirty work and also offered a vague attacking outlet with a few shots.

Miroslav Klose - Considering he's a man who relies on making the most of chances in the area, he had a quiet night.

Substitutions

Michael Ciani - Did a lot to deny Juve. Won the ball several times and cut out a number of passes.

Ederson - Made little impact but slotted into his side's rhythm nicely.

Petkovic: 'Juve are too strong'

Vladimir Petkovic sees Lazio having “passed the test” at the Juventus Stadium, although he wanted to see them be more attacking.

“Yes, we have passed the test and I am happy, even if we suffered a bit too much at the back,” he said of the 0-0 draw.

“We attempted to attack them a few times, but Juventus are too strong and put us under pressure for the entire match. We need to believe a bit more.

“Thanks to our goalkeeper and our defence, we managed to defend the result. We should’ve had more courage and played with more responsibility, as we could’ve done more in the last 10 minutes.

“It was almost impossible to get to the Juventus penalty area, as they were very aggressive and deserve praise for their performance.

“Nonetheless, this is a good point for our confidence and our table.”

Alessio: 'Lazio played catenaccio'

Juventus assistant manager Angelo Alessio feels his side “had everything except the goal” in their 0-0 draw against Lazio’s ‘catenaccio.’

“We had so many scoring opportunities and dominated the match. We had everything except the goal.

“Andrea Pirlo was suspended, but we created chances anyway and Leonardo Bonucci hit the crossbar, so he was not missed.”

Alessio accused the Biancocelesti of playing for a point in Turin and relying on goalkeeper Federico Marchetti.

“Lazio played in a catenaccio style and were simply defensive throughout. We must focus only on our own progress and our position in the table.”

Sebastian Giovinco wasted a couple of early opportunities, but Fabio Quagliarella was substituted instead.

“Giovinco had been doing better, but we also had to take into account the upcoming games,” added Alessio.

“The crowd was exemplary. It’s possible there were some jeers, but I won’t take anything away from Giovinco’s performance.”

Juventus held to draw by Lazio

Juventus dominated from start to finish but was held to a 0-0 draw by Lazio in Serie A on Saturday, just three days before its key Champions League match against Chelsea.

Leonardo Bonucci hit the crossbar for Juventus but the defending champion could not find a way past Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti, who made a number of saves.

Marchetti pulled off a spectacular stop, changing direction midair to keep out Arturo Vidal's deflected effort. Sebastian Giovinco also went close on several occasions for Juventus, who clearly missed the suspended Andrea Pirlo.

Lazio didn't have a shot on target the entire match and struggled to get out of its own half.

Juventus extended its lead at the top of the standings to five points over Inter Milan, which plays Cagliari on Sunday.

Juventus decided against resting players ahead of the Chelsea match but was without key playmaker Pirlo, as well as Mirko Vucinic, who was a late withdrawal from the squad with flu.

However, Paul Pogba returned after being suspended by coach Antonio Conte last weekend for showing up late to training twice.

Lazio beat Roma last weekend to snap a run of three league games without a win, but has not beaten Juventus in nearly nine years. Captain Stefano Mauri and Senad Lulic were banned.

The visiting side had the first half chance of the game in the 14th minute when Abdoulay Konko's poorly-hit shot bobbled wide from 20 meters.

From then on it was all one-way traffic. Kwadwo Asamoah surged down the left flank and into the area before unleashing an effort from a tight angle which Marchetti punched clear.

Juve went closer in the 19th when Marchetti did well to parry Giovinco's shot at full stretch and Fabio Quagliarella hit the rebound into the sidenetting.

Giovinco had two good chances after half an hour as first he turned well on the edge of the area but fired narrowly wide of the left upright.

Seconds later, the young striker did even better, with a sublime piece of control to bring down a long ball and hook it past two defenders, before surging clear, but he again drilled his effort centimeters wide of the left.

Pogba went close shortly after the interval with a long-range effort which flew narrowly over the crossbar.

Marchetti performed a sensational save on the hour mark. Vidal's long-range shot was deflected by Quagliarella, but Marchetti managed to change direction to tip it over the crossbar.

The Lazio goalkeeper was finally beaten in the 75th minute but Bonucci's shot following a corner smacked off the crossbar.

What We Learned from Saturday's Serie A Match

Two teams, two very different sets of circumstances.

Juventus came into this game looking to bounce back after their tough loss at home to Internazionale, one that snapped a streak of 49-straight Serie A wins.

Lazio was coming off a strong victory in the Derby della Capitale. They bested their rivals 3-2 in a game which saw Roma's captain, Daniele De Rossi, sent off for punching Lazio's Stefano Mauri. De Rossi was suspended for three games.

Needless to say, Saturday's match had huge implications for both teams involved.

One trying was trying to continue its winning ways and the other was trying to rebound in a decisive way to reassert their control of the table.

In the end, Lazio looked much worse than the final score indicated, escaping Torino with a point after drawing Juventus 0-0. Truthfully though, it might be more accurate to say Marchetti drew with Juventus rather than Lazio.

Lazio had a lot of trouble with Juventus' consistent pressure throughout the game.

How much trouble?

So much so that Lazio only mustered five shots, none that troubled Buffon. Buffon could have set up a lawn chair between the pipes and done more than he did against Lazio during Saturday's match.

Meanwhile, Juventus fired 21 shots, four that troubled Marchetti. Juventus also had 11 corners to work with throughout the game. Marchetti was nothing short of brilliant; I highly recommend YouTubing highlights of his saves.

So what do we take away from this one? It's quite simple, actually.

One, if you didn't already know, Federico Marchetti is the real deal. He was a one-man highlight reel and certainly saved his team from a 3-0 defeat or worse.

Second, Juventus doesn't have someone to replace Andrea Pirlo when it comes to set pieces. I know, no one could replace Pirlo. But without him, Juventus was not nearly as dangerous as they usually are when taking set pieces. Remember, they had 11 corners in today's match.

Looking ahead, things ease up a bit for Juventus. Their next league match is against a struggling AC Milan, while Lazio have a tricky opponent in Udinese coming their way.

Juventus have to find ways to capitalize on their chances.

The loss to Inter was tough but reasonable. The draw with Lazio was completely unacceptable. The will almost certainly be looking to put the last two weeks in their rearview when they face Milan next Sunday. If not, the lead they built will slip right through their fingers.

Angelo Alessio has insisted that Juventus did "everything but score" in Saturday's 0-0 Serie A draw with Lazio in Turin.

A combination of the crossbar and a string of saves from visiting goalkeeper Federico Marchetti kept the Scudetto holders at bay, and they now risk seeing their lead at the top of the table cut to two points if Inter beat Cagliari on Sunday.

After the match, the 47-year-old could not pick any faults with the Bianconeri's display, apart from their inability to find the net against defensive opponents.

"All that was missing was that elusive goal," he told reporters. "We created many opportunities, dominating from the first minute onwards, but we weren't able to score.

"We're happy about the team's performance. We dominated and forced Lazio to play a defensive game.

"We're aware that we didn't manage to put the ball away, but our way of playing will remain the same: maintain a high tempo and create as much as possible."

Paul Pogba filled the void left by the suspended Andrea Pirlo, but Alessio does not believe that the midfielder's absence hindered his side.

"I don't think his absence was felt," he added. "There were many corners and free-kicks, we hit the bar through Bonucci.

"Lazio adopted a defensive game and we did well to squeeze them. I reiterate, all we were missing was that vital breakthrough. It could have been a goal-fest."

Leonardo Bonucci insists Juventus did everything to deserve victory against Lazio, but “from now on we think about Chelsea.”

The Bianconeri dominated Saturday’s 0-0 draw, but were denied by a series of Federico Marchetti saves as well as some bad misses.

“It was a great Juve performance and we were the only team on the field. Lazio never had a shot on target and Marchetti was Man of the Match,” said Bonucci.

“Obviously we are angry, as we are bringing home one point instead of the three we actually deserved. We lacked precision in front of goal and I could’ve scored too, but I hit the crossbar.”

Juventus now face a must-win Champions League clash with Chelsea in Turin on Tuesday evening.

“From now on we think about Chelsea, as at this moment it is the most important test. We want to go through to the next phase of the Champions League,” added the defender.

“Chelsea lost to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, but that doesn’t change anything as far as we are concerned. On Tuesday we must step on to the pitch only to win.”

Leonardo Bonucci believes Juventus must beat Chelsea when the two teams meet in Italy on Tuesday night.

The Old Lady are one point behind the Blues and Shakhtar Donetsk in Champions League Group E, with two games left to play.

The Bianconeri centre-back thinks that three points must be pursued in the midweek match, and insists Roberto Di Matteo’s side being defeated by West Brom on Saturday makes no difference to the challenge facing Juve.

"From now on we think about Chelsea, as at this moment it is the most important test. We want to go through to the next phase of the Champions League," the defender told reporters.

"Chelsea lost to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, but that doesn’t change anything as far as we are concerned. On Tuesday we must step on to the pitch to win."

The reigning Serie A champions have not had things all their own way this weekend either, having been held to a goalless draw by Lazio thanks to a superb individual performance from Biancocelesti goalkeeper Federico Marchetti.
