Manchester United have been dealt a big blow in their reported pursuit of Paul Pogba after the French midfielder's agent, Mino Raiola, said Juventus have no interest in selling him. 

Talking to Sky Italia (via Sky Sports News' Kaveh Solhekol), Raiola also hinted that the 23-year-old is happy to remain with the Old Lady and will not force a move to Old Trafford: "Juventus don't want to sell Pogba. They want to keep him for a long time, and he doesn’t feel like leaving. Will he stay? I can’t exclude departure to another club. There’s an open channel between me and every club, not just [United]."

Previous reports indicated that United are prepared to pay €120 million (£101.7 million) to sign their former player back, while an agreement had already been made "in principle" over a €13 million (£11 million) per year contract for Pogba, per GianlucaDiMarzio.com.

United's position looked to have strengthened further when it was reported that Real Madrid had dropped out of the race to sign him, per Sky Sports' Andy Burton.

Following Raiola's comments, it seems the central midfielder is now happy to remain at Juve, where he moved for free from United in 2012 after failing to break into the Red Devils first team under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Over the last four years, Pogba has developed into one of the world's top midfielders, and he has been one of Europe's hottest properties for the past couple of seasons.

Already a four-time Serie A winner and Champions League runner-up, he was also part of the France team that lost in Sunday's Euro 2016 final against Portugal.

Pogba was poor at the Stade de France, but he was played in a deeper, defensive role by Les Bleus manager Didier Deschamps, which does not fit his natural game, per ESPN FC's Miguel Delaney.

Pogba is at his most devastating when allowed the freedom to maraud forward, run at defences and create chances in attack.

United manager Jose Mourinho would surely allow him such freedom if he moved to Old Trafford, with Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe speculating that he could play alongside Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin in a three-man midfield:

However, the new Red Devils boss may not get the opportunity to put Pogba in his side, at least not in the 2016-17 season.

While Raiola has not ruled out Pogba leaving Juve for United, he has tempered expectations.

It previously looked as though the Frenchman's return to Old Trafford was a done deal. But that is no longer the case, and Pogba remaining at Juve looks the more likely scenario.

Having to some extent looked like a foregone conclusion, Paul Pogba’s rumoured move to Manchester United has been thrown into uncertainty by comments from his agent.

After already facilitating the moves of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Old Trafford this summer, Mino Raiola appeared set to further bolster his bank balance by negotiating a £100 million return to his former club for the France midfielder. 

However, with Raiola now suggesting his client is in ‘no rush’ to leave Juventus and may yet renew his contract with the Italian champions, Skybet have slashed odds on him staying in Italy to 5/6 (1.83) – having been as long as 7/1 (8.00) only recently.

While it may turn out to be a mere bargaining strategy, the news will still come as a blow to Jose Mourinho, who appeared to have a clear run at the 23-year-old after Real Madrid allegedly pulled out of the race due to his hefty price tag.

Previously priced at just 2/5 (1.40) to complete a deal, the Red Devils can now be backed at 5/6 (1.83) to recapture a player who left on a free transfer four years ago due to limited opportunities in the first XI.

This uncertainty should seem worryingly familiar to Manchester United fans, who have seen their club miss out on high profile deals for Toni Kroos and Renato Sanches in recent seasons.

Another failure in the transfer market would certainly cast more of a shadow over executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, who has come in for serious criticism due to his perceived inadequacy in recruiting star players.

With a generous new contract reportedly on the table in Turin, Pogba is sure to leave one set of supporters bitterly disappointed in what is likely to become the major transfer saga of the summer.

Paul Pogba would be a "waste of money" for £100 million and is not a "big star" yet, according to former France midfielder Emmanuel Petit.

Juventus and France midfielder Pogba suffered the disappointment of losing the Euro 2016 final with his national team against Portugal and attention has turned to his club future.

A source close to negotiations has told ESPN FC that a move for the player, who has been linked with an imminent switch to his former club Manchester United, is not close to completion, while his agent has said the Premier League side are not the only team interested in his signature.

Petit, who won 1998 World Cup  and Euro 2000 as a France player, told Yahoo Sport UK: "Imagine what you can do with £100m. Imagine you have given away your best car and, after a couple of years, you miss it so you want it back. Would you be happy with that? It's a waste of money for me. For £100m, I would buy [Luis] Suarez.

"Pogba has a great future, but it is too early. I don't like the situation around him all the time. We are making him out to be a big star, but he is not a big star for me."

Petit explained that he does not think Pogba has delivered enough yet on the domestic or international stage. He added that it is embarrassing to see the adulation the player is already receiving.

Petit said: "He hasn't reached the level of the Champions League yet or the international level with the national team. I am pretty sure he can do it, but this is too early.

"People talk about him all the time in the press, sending him flowers all the time, and I'm embarrassed about that. I haven't seen the real Pogba yet. I am sure he has got the potential to reach his targets. For the moment, I am not really convinced."

The former Arsenal midfielder also questioned why Real Madrid wouldreportedly back away from signing the player if he was worth such a lofty fee.

He said: "It's not a question of money with Madrid. When they want a player, they put the money on the table, and that's it and they win it. If they don't want to fight with Manchester United for £100m, there is a reason behind that."

There continue to be reports of a transfer record shattering €120m offer to Juve for the player, but both Pogba and the Bianconeri seem ready to resist, asconfirmed by his agent Mino Raiola.

Desailly told The Sun newspaper that he is not remotely surprised.

“Who is going to give him more than what he has at the moment? They have given him a new contract, he is winning everything at Juventus, there’s no real pressure.

“Money? He has a couple of million, he has secured his life with the contract that he has. It’s not like it’s an emergency for him where he has to move. He has time.

“Italy is fine. From the outside it doesn’t seem as though it is very attractive, but once you are used to being there, playing there – they have a nice stadium a great organisation.

“You have seen already that last season he rejected a lot of offers because he is fine at Juventus. I am sure he is going to stay another year.

"He will become the best midfielder in the world. At the meantime he is just someone who has amazing potential.
"Remember he is 23, he needs time, but he has shown so much capacity and ability you would like to see him go on and become a top player in the world.

Gianluca Zambrotta does not believe that losing Paul Pogba would be a disaster for Juventus, arguing that selling the midfielder to Manchester United for a world-record fee would enable them to buy two or three "other champions" - just as they did with the proceeds from the sale of Zinedine Zidane 15 years ago.

Pogba has established himself as one of the finest midfielders in the world since joining theBianconeri on a free transfer from the Red Devils in 2012, with the France international having played a key role in the Old Lady's last four Serie A title triumphs.

However, United are reportedly ready to pay €120 million (£100m) to bring the 23-year-old back to Old Trafford this summer and while Juve have thus far rejected all offers for their most prized possession, Zambrotta is quick to point out that Pogba's departure would raise a huge amount of money for strengthening Massimiliano Allegri's squad.

"I remember when I was playing with Juventus and Zinedine Zidane was there," the former Juventus full-back said of another famous French No.10 in an exclusive interview with Goal.

"They sold him to Real Madrid for a record fee and with this money they bought [Gianluigi] Buffon, [Lilian] Thuram and [Pavel] Nedved.

"So, even if Juventus have to sell Pogba, they could buy other champions."

Juve won back-to-back Scudetti following Zidane's €75m (£45.6m) move to the Santiago Bernabeu, as well as reaching the final of the 2003 Champions League.

Zambrotta also lifted the 2006 World Cup during his stellar playing career and was a keen observer as his native Italy attempted to win Euro 2016 in France this summer.

The Azzurri ultimately fell short, losing on penalties to Germany in the quarter-finals, but the 39-year-old was extremely proud of a squad that had racked up impressive wins over Belgium and Spain en route to the last eight.

"Italy had a great European Championship and it's a shame that they went out on penalties," lamented Zambrotta.

However, the tournament convinced Zambrotta that Italy boss Antonio Conte will do great things at new club Chelsea.

"He's is a great coach," enthused the former Barcelona defender, who has just taken charge of Indian side Delhi Dynamos. "He's a really good motivator and also very good tactically."

Raul has hailed Paul Pogba as an “excellent” player and believes he is a player Real Madrid would “love” to sign.

The France international has a contract with Juventus until June 2019, but he has been heavily linked with a move elsewhere in recent months.

Manchester United are believed to be keen to lure him back to Old Trafford, while Madrid are also allegedly in the running to sign the 23-year-old.

Raul is a keen admirer of the midfielder and believes he would be a fine addition at the Santiago Bernabeu if Madrid can get past Juventus' reported asking price of €100m.

"Pogba is a player that Madrid would love to have - as would any team," Raul told AS.

"He has a great physical presence.

"Pogba is an excellent player and I am sure that the coach will have studied on how he can improve the current team and style of play.

"But it will be a question of looking at factors such as price and general conditions."

Raul previously conceded he was surprised to see Zinedine Zidane become Real Madrid coach, but has been impressed with the progress his former team-mate has made.

"I just didn't see him as a coach when we played together, but he's since worked in different areas of the club, spent some time working with [Carlo] Ancelotti and was then given the opportunity to oversee Castilla so I guess it was always something that he had inside," Raul added.

"I also feel that since he's been with the first team he is growing constantly as a coach.  

"The key to his success? Having faith in his players and getting them to believe in themselves."

Paul Pogba has refused to rule out a future return to Manchester United, describing the club as his "first family".

The Juventus star has been strongly linked with a summer move away from Turin, with Real Madrid and United understood to be leading the chase for his services.

United, who sold Pogba to Juventus in 2012, are reportedly keen to re-sign the midfielder for a world record fee of £100 million.

With speculation surrounding his future intensifying by the days, Pogba was presented with the shirts of all three clubs when attending the ESPY awards ceremony on Wednesday.

When handed the Juventus jersey, Pogba replied: "It's my team, my family. It's where I'm playing. When I wear this [shirt], I'm happy, I'm happy to play football. It's something I've wanted to do since I was little. I'm happy here."

He was then handed a United shirt, to which he first made a joke - "I don't know them!" before adding: "It's my first family."

When pushed on his response should Jose Mourinho bid for him, Pogba replied: "I don't know. We'll see."

On Real Madrid, Pogba said: "A great club."

Paul Pogba said he still does not know where his future lies or when Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho might contact him after he was questioned on the subject by ESPN broadcasters.

The Juventus midfielder, in Los Angeles for the 2016 ESPY award ceremony, was speaking in Spanish to ESPN Deportes broadcasters.

During the interview, three replica shirts were pulled out of a bag one after the other and shown to the player, and he was asked to give his views.

The first that was put in front of the France international was a Juventus shirt, next was Real Madrid and the third was Manchester United.

Discussing Juventus, he said: "This is my team, my family, where I am playing. I am happy there, I play football, and do things I wanted to do when I was small."

After the Madrid shirt came out of the bag, he said that they are "the white house -- which won the Champions League this year, a great club."

When the 23-year-old was shown a United shirt, he initially joked "I don't know this one." He then described his former club United as "my first club, my first family."

Manchester United fans might be even more excited about Juventus' bid for Gonzalo Higuain than Bianconeri supporters themselves.

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has reportedly told interested clubs that he wants a decision over his future to be made before the end of the month.

Widespread reports have claimed that Manchester Unitedare weighing up a record-breaking deal worth somewhere in the region of £100m to re-sign the player they released on a free contract four years ago.

Pogba has largely remained coy when asked to speak publicly about his future, declaring earlier this week that he was "happy" to remain in Turin but still unsure exactly where he will be plying his trade next season.

According to Spanish publication Marca, Real Madrid are unlikely to make an approach for the France international due to his underwhelming displays at Euro 2016, as well as his inability to successfully adapt to different midfield positions.

It is claimed that Man United's interest still remains strong, however, and a bid could be placed on the table over the next week once Pogba returns from his short break in Los Angeles, although both player and agent Mino Raiola are adamant that any deal must be finalised prior to August.

Pogba made 35 appearances for Juventus last season, scoring eight times to help the Italian giants to their fifth-successive Serie A title.

Paul Pogba speculation isn’t going away, as The Sun claims he’ll complete a £105m move from Juventus to Manchester United this weekend.

The midfielder is currently on vacation in America after Euro 2016.

The report in the English media suggests he’ll sign a five-year contract worth £202,000 per week.

It also claims Pogba will undergo a medical in Manchester on Tuesday.

Agent Mino Raiola is due to receive 20-25 per cent of the transfer fee, which is €125m.

Juventus have repeatedly stated that Pogba is not for sale.

Recent rumours of interest in Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain and his €94m release clause could well fuel the new reports that Pogba could be sold to help fund the move.

However, Sky Sport Italia and their often reliable pundit Gianluca Di Marzio claim there's no truth behind the story.

Juventus assured there has been “no contact” with Manchester United for Paul Pogba, despite English reports of an imminent move.

The Sun claimed in its online edition this evening that Pogba was due to complete the move over the weekend, worth £105m (€125m), with a medical for next week.

“There has been no contact,” Juventus director general Beppe Marotta told Sportitalia on Friday night.

A source from the Bianconeri also told Mediaset Premium that the report was “rubbish,” while Sky Sport Italia had no trace of negotiations between the clubs.

Juventus are set to offer Paul Pogba a new contract in a bid to stave off interest from Manchester United, Goal has learned.

The France international’s former club have been linked with a world-record transfer bid worth around £100 million, which includes a salary worth in the region of £16m per year.

But Juventus are set to meet with the 23-year-old’s agent, Mino Raiola, in the coming days in the hope of extending Pogba's stay in Turin until 2021, rather than watching him head back to the club he left in 2012.

The Bianconeri look set to offer a deal worth between €6m and €7m per year, which marks a significant rise on his current €4.5m-a-year contract which currently expires in 2019.

The Serie A giants are hopeful, despite their own offer falling well short of the money on offer at Old Trafford, that the good relationship with Pogba will act in their favour.

Goal sources insist the increased financial package on offer to Pogba has no impact on interest in Gonzalo Higuain, with Juve prepared to meet the €94m (£79m) buyout clause in the Napoli striker's contract.

Raiola has previously shown a willingness to work with the Italian champions on a new deal, telling La Gazzetta dello Sport in March: “Juventus and Paul are on the same page here.

“Juve won't accept anything less than €100m for his sale and I agree with that, though he is more than happy to remain with the Bianconeri. We are even ready to sign a new contract.”

Real Madrid were also keen on Pogba earlier in the summer but are understood to have baulked at Juventus's valuation, leaving United as the sole interested party.

However, Pogba’s dissatisfaction with United's handling of his development during his previous three-year spell could persuade the player to stay on in the peninsula.

Paul Pogba's arrival at Old Trafford could herald a new era at Manchester United, says former defender Rio Ferdinand.

United allowed Pogba to leave to Juventus in 2012, and have now been linked to a move to bring him back for a world-record fee.

Ferdinand told Copa90 that Pogba could be worth the expenditure in the long run.

"I think €120 million is a lot of money, for any player. You'd expect 40-plus goals per season for that figure," Ferdinand said.

Massimiliano Allegri has moved to end speculation over Paul Pogba's future, insisting Juventus are "counting" on the player next season.

The France international is a key transfer target for  Manchester United, with the Premier League giants ready with a £100 million deal and wages of £12m per year.

Pogba is understood to be unsure on a return to Old Trafford and Allegri is hopeful the midfielder, who remains on holiday following France's run to the Euro 2016 final, will stay put.

"The France internationals will return on August 7. Both Evra and Pogba? They are both Juventus players and I hope they will stay," Allegri added.

"I am counting on Pogba."

Meanwhile, Juventus director Fabio Paratici has revealed the Serie A champions are prepared for the exits of Pogba and Manchester City target Leonardo Bonucci.

The club also insist United are yet to make contact over a possible deal for Pogba despite the recent increased speculation.

Real Madrid are reportedly still in for Juventus’ Paul Pogba, but need time to raise €120m to buy him.

 

The midfielder has been heavily linked with both Los Merengues and Manchester United, with the latter said to be offering €120m.

 

According to AS, the French international still wants to work under Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane, so is willing to wait before signing with United or committing his future to the Bianconeri.

 

The newspaper claims Juventus will only do business for a fee of €100m or more, but would accept the €100m in one cash sum.

 

Real Madrid have therefore asked his agent, Mino Raiola, for more time to raise the money for a potential transfer.

 

This is a similar mode of operation to the deal which took Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur to the Bernabeu and which saw James Rodriguez join from Monaco.

 

For the Welshman, Madrid sold Mesut Ozil to Arsenal and Gonzalo Higuain to Napoli, while Angel Di Maria, Alvaro Morata and Xabi Alonso were sacrificed for James.

 

The Champions League holders’ debt is said to be over €600m, so they must first make a big sale if they are to consider a Pogba bid.

 

For their part, Juventus have made it clear they won't sell their star unless he asks to leave.

These are intense days for the Bianconeri's transfer market. At a time when the rumours around the touted signing of Gonzalo Higuain have barely begun to settle, the case of Pogba is exploding.

 

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the player's powerful agent Mino Raiola is currently in Manchester, where he will discuss the possible sale of the player with the Red Devils.

 

Jose Mourinho is apparently one of the player's greatest admirers and the club will attempt a massive investment in order to satisfy his heart's desire. This will involve a transfer fee of €120m along with a five-year contract for the player worth €12m per season, bringing their total expense to €180m.

 

The club from Turin wouldn't take the full €120m, as a gentleman's agreement between the clubs and the midfielder would see the latter taking 20 per cent of his transfer fee, meaning €24m.

 

Juventus so far have been adamant that they wouldn't sell the player unless Pogba himself chose to leave, but there are rumours their resolve is beginning to crumble.

 

And the Frenchman himself may be lured by United's extraordinary pay-check.

The English side have been pursuing the French midfielder all summer, and appear to be in pole position for his signature if he decides to leave Turin.

 

According to Gianluca Di Marzio’s website, the Red Devils and Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, are requesting a meeting with the Bianconeri to present the first official offer.

 

The meeting could even take place today, with Man Utd prepared to offer just over €100m, with the website claiming that Pogba is being offered €13m net per season.

 

However, the Old Lady are expected to reject the offer and ask for a higher sum of around €120-130m.

Sky Sport Italia claim Manchester United and agent Mino Raiola met Juventus today to offer €101m for Paul Pogba.

 

According to pundit Gianluca Di Marzio this evening, the first actual encounter between the clubs occurred today.

 

Agent Raiola was present along with Juventus director general Beppe Marotta and Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

 

The opening offer is €101m (£85m), but Juventus are demanding at least €120m (£101m) plus performance-related bonuses.

 

This does not include the commission that Raiola would reap from the record-breaking move.

 

Sky Sport Italia note this is the first time Juventus have taken into consideration the possibility Pogba might want to leave.

 

If they did sell Pogba to Manchester United, he’d show up on the books as pure profit, having signed him as a free agent after his contract with the Old Trafford side expired in 2012.

 

This evening Mediaset Premium painted a different picture, claiming Manchester United came straight in with the €120m offer.

Manchester United have seen their initial £100 million bid for Paul Pogba rejected by Juventus, according to The Guardian.

The Red Devils are the favourites to sign the 23-year-old midfielder after Real Madrid bowed out of the race, admitting they cannot compete with the Premier League outfit.

Juve, though, are desperate to hold onto the France international and have dismissed the first official offer.

Ed Woodward met with Juve directors Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici and Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, on Tuesday to discuss deal, but the Bianconeri have made clear they want more than United have offered.

The newspaper states the Serie A champions want £100m up front with a further £8m in add-ons, whereas £13m of United's initial bid was made up of bonuses.

A deal still seems likely, though, as Raiola has said he wants to bring Pogba back to England and he will agree to a five-year deal worth £250,000 per week.
