Genoa coach Alberto Malesani believes his side reacted to firm demands as they came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Juventus in Serie A on Saturday.

The outspoken boss said his men stood up and listened after he grilled them for their recent less-than-perfect performances.

Malesani's side had lost twice and drawn once prior to their match at Juventus, and things looked bleak following Alessandro Matri's double for the home side.

But goals from Marco Rossi and Andrea Caracciolo saw the Liguria-based outfit steal an unlikely point from their trip to Turin.

"I ensured my players took note and I told the president there would be changes. I had become annoyed [with the poor form] and said there would be no bonuses for anyone. Look what happened ... the players gave 100 per cent the whole game," Malesani is quoted as saying by La Repubblica.

"I did not look at what Juventus were doing, but I focused on ourselves.

"We have done good things of late, but just some luck was missing from our performances."

The result lifted Genoa to 9th place in the league ahead of their match on Wednesday against Roma.

A minute's silence will be observed in all Serie A matches on Sunday following the death of Moto GP rider Marco Simoncelli at the Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang.

Simoncelli, 24, died shortly after crashing on the first lap of the race after losing control of his bike.

The CONI (Italian Olympic Committee) has confirmed the minute's silence starting from AC Milan's match against Lecce on Sunday afternoon.

Simoncelli was a fan of Milan and was expected to attend their next match against Parma at San Siro.

Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has stressed that the Turin side will have to be more clinical in front of goal if they are to fight for the title this term.

The Serie A table toppers went ahead twice in their 2-2 home draw versus Genoa on Saturday, but they failed to put the match to bed before Andrea Caracciolo scored an 85th minute equaliser to snatch a share of the spoils.

And Marchisio insists that they have to learn to finish games off when they are in the lead.

"We can't go in front and then sit back hoping that the game will come to an end, like we did this evening. Instead we need to be more clinical and put the game beyond doubt," he was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

Arch rivals Juventus and Fiorentina desperately need a win to kick-start their stuttering Serie A campaigns.

The home side, despite being unbeaten this term, have started to drop points, while Viola boss Sinisa Mihajlovic could be playing for his future as the discontent in Florence is becoming worryingly more vociferous.

Juventus began the campaign brightly and their 2-0 win over Milan seemed to underline their pedigree as Scudetto contenders. Yet that dominant display against the Rossoneri was their only victory in their last five games.

On Saturday, the Old Lady took the lead twice but were punished for their mistakes as Genoa hit back to collect a 2-2 draw. Few were talking about the title after that result and questions are starting to be asked of new boss Antonio Conte.
