Feb 17, 2016 Claudio Marchisio calls Bayern Munich “one of the top three teams in the world” but Juventus “have grown a lot in Europe”. The Bianconeri are facing the German champions in the Last 16 of the Champions League, with the first leg in Turin next week. “Both teams have injuries, maybe them more than us,” Marchisio pointed out to Sky. “But both teams have squads full of top players who can adapt to other roles. Whichever players are called up for the game will be well-prepared for the match. “They have great technical and physical qualities, they’re always one of the top three teams in the world. “So we’ll have to be careful, but on our part we know that we’ve grown a lot in Europe, we’re respected by all teams and we know we can give anyone a game, so that applies to Bayern Munich too. “It will be a balanced tie, there will be two games and we have to make the most of the chances we get.” It’s been noted that the only time the Old Lady have lost in the Champions League this season was when Marchisio was absent against Sevilla, does he feel like a talisman? “Honestly I don’t care about that talk. I have to go onto the pitch and not think about that. But beyond that, the results are down to everyone. “We know what we went through in the first few months, the difficulties experienced by old and new players. This growth has been slow, but it’s been steady and the wins speak to that. “So the important thing is always the team.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Then, as the teams are coming out of the tunnel for the second half, there's one noticeable difference — there's no Claudio Marchisio stepping onto the field.BWRAO @JuventusNation There's no way Marchisio comes out of this game if he isn't hurt. I mean, there's just no logical reason other than that. Yep, it was an injury. There wasn't anything official out of the Juve camp other than the tweet announcing the substitution has been made on Twitter. However, the initial word from some of the Italian media folks on Twitter was that it is the same kind of injury we've been hearing about all season long out of Juventus. Yep, muscle fatigue. Who knows how serious the injury is or if we'll even get any kind of update about it from Max Allegri after the game. But in a game where Marchisio was one of Juve's best players and Bayern were absolutely throwing players forward at every single opportunity, losing the hub of your midfield isn't a very good development. For one, we were wondering what the heck happened to Marchisio. And secondly, the other response was easily, "Hernanes?!?!" You had to think that Marchisio was taken off the field by Max Allegri because he was injured. There was no other way that seemed logical when you consider what was going on in the game and how important his role to this Juventus team really is. Well, after Marchisio underwent tests Thursday to see the extent of his injury, we got some good — if there is something like that — injury news. While Marchisio will miss the Serie A/Coppa Italia back-to-back matchup against Inter Milan Sunday and Wednesday, that's just about all he will be absent for. More, courtesy of Juventus' official website: Claudio Marchisio this morning underwent medical examinations that ruled out any muscular tears. They did however show up an overloaded vastus lateralis muscle in the midfielder's left thigh. He is expected to make a full recovery within the next seven days. Excuse me while I take a huge sigh of relief on this one. When you see a player like Marchisio, who is so incredibly important, subbed at the half of a big-time European game like Tuesday night's showdown with Bayern Munich was, you get the weird yet creeping suspicion that the injury could result in a decent amount of time away from the field. All we heard from the Italian media during the second half and after the game was "muscle strain" — which, as we've learned this season, could mean a wide variety of things. Being out for seven days isn't necessarily something you would file under the category of "decent amount of time" per se, and I am pretty sure when I'd say that if the alternative was Marchisio being out for both Inter games and the second leg against Bayern I would take what's now in front of us. Having Marchisio miss any period of time isn't good, but my worst fears — and probably yours, too — have been averted. There are some important games over the next seven days, but that seven days could have been two or three weeks or more than that. And when Juve players wake up in the morning Friday, they'll be one day closer to seeing Marchisio back in the starting lineup. Hey, it could be worse. Feb 25, 2016 Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has not suffered a tear to his left thigh but is set to be out of action for the next week. Marchisio was replaced at half-time in Juve's 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday, the Serie A champions battling back from two goals down in his absence. While Juve confirmed the 30-year-old has not suffered a tear, Marchisio is set for a week-long absence and will likely miss clashes with Inter in Serie A and the Coppa Italia. "This morning Claudio Marchisio underwent medical examinations that ruled out any muscular tears," Juve said in a statement on Thursday. The Bianconeri midfielder was out with injury during the Coppa Italia clash, which was lost by the Nerazzurri on penalties after a 3-3 on aggregate, and commented a refereeing decision on Twitter during the game. “Zaza booked, they say he kicked,” read his Twitter profile. “The commentator must be blind.” The comment did not go down well with the disability community, and the Rai journalists syndicate Usigrai published an official statement to condemn it: “It is a matter and an offence that cannot be overlooked as a stylistic accident. “Marchisio's words offended an entire community, that of blind people, as well as a commentator who was doing his job professionally as always. “Those words are all the more unpleasant for having been pronounced by a player of the most prestigious club and the Azzurri too. We hope that Juventus, Lega Calcio and the FIGC will take some measures to clarify that the values of sport have nothing to do with this type of language.” Similar negative comments were made by Rai Sport director Carlo Paris and the community at Rai Sport generally. Juventus have decided not to fine the Principino as of yet, as the player recognised his mistake and apologised on Facebook. “I'm surprised that my comment on a football play was defined as 'delegitimising' the work of others,” his profile reads. “We all have the right to express our judgment on a match. “As a player I'm used to accepting comments and opinions of all sorts, from the fans as well as from the journalists. “On the other hand my faux pas, even though I was attempting a joke, on blind people, was unfortunate and wrong. “I apologise for that. The moment's emotion overwhelmed me and this is something that should never happen.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

I am not surprised.” The Italian international also discussed the Turin outfit’s upcoming match against Bayern Munich in Europe believing that his side need to be brave in order to progress to the quarter-finals. “Bayern Munich are a great team,” he added. “We face a team that are capable of deciding the game in a heartbeat,” “But we are aware we need to play without fear in Munich if we are to enter the latter stages of the competition.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

Marchisio was stretchered off in the 15th minute in visible pain after making a tackle and tests revealed he has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Juventus said Marchisio will be operated on "in the next few days." It is not clear how long he will be out for, but it normally takes around four to six months to recover from such an injury. Italy kick off their Euro 2016 campaign against Belgium on June 13. They also face Sweden and Ireland in Group E. Marchisio is a fundamental part of the Italy team. The 30-year-old midfielder has made 54 appearances for the Azzurri since his debut in 2009, scoring five goals. "It will be a huge loss," Juventus and Italy teammate Leonardo Bonucci said. "Claudio is a leader in this dressing room and that of the national team, apart from being a really great footballer." Bonucci also wrote on his Instagram account: "An important victory ... But there is nothing to celebrate, today we lost for several months an important player for Juve and the national team. Stay strong Marchisio, we will win for you and we're expecting you [back] stronger than ever." With Sunday's win, Juventus moved nine points clear in Serie A, with five rounds remaining. It was originally thought that the medical exams would be on Monday. But instead, Juventus announced about three hours after the 4-0 win over Palermo that Marchisio, who had to be stretchered off in the first half, will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL in his left knee. The injury happened after Marchisio went in for a tackle against Palermo playmaker Franco Vazquez, with the aftermath being the picture above. Here is the official statement regarding Marchisio's injury: An MRI scan has confirmed that Claudio Marchisio has suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. He will undergo surgery in the next few days. As you can see, no timetable given. Not that we should be surprised about that, I guess. The fact that he is going to be out for the rest of the season — and the 2016 European Championship this summer — is basically a given now. I would like to think once Marchisio actually undergoes his surgery is when we'll know just how many months he will be missing. Let's just hope, considering the timing of it all, it doesn't stretch into next season all that much. If the direction Max Allegri went after Marchisio had to be subbed out is any indication of who will be filling Marchisio's shoes — or at least trying to — in his absence, then maybe we'll be seeing a lot more of Mario Lemina in the final five games of the season. That could a pretty good deal for Lemina, who obviously has a little thing like his future in Turin to iron out this summer. Above all else, though. we wish Claudio all the best in his return. And while he is going to be out a good amount of months, hopefully it's not too many months.Alessandro Del Piero ✔ @delpieroale .@Clamarchisio8 In molti ti diranno: tornerai più forte di prima. Apr 18, 2016 The moment he collapsed to the turf, it seemed serious. Making a tackle just 15 minutes into Juventus' Serie A clash with Palermo on Sunday, Claudio Marchisio's knee buckled. He fell in agony, clutching the joint while calling for help from the bench. His side had already taken the lead when the midfielder was stretchered off and replaced by Mario Lemina, the Old Lady going on to secure a 4-0 triumph that—combined with Napoli's loss to Inter Milan on Saturday evening—opens their lead at the top of the table to nine points with just five games remaining. Yet despite moving one step closer to what would be a historic fifth consecutive league title for the Bianconeri, Marchisio's health was the immediate concern of coach Massimiliano Allegri after the full-time whistle. "It's probably the cruciate ligament, we'll have an evaluation tonight or tomorrow," the Juve boss told Mediaset Premium (h/t Football Italia). He went on to say the club hoped those tests would show "it's not that serious," but when Allegri started his post-match press conference, he already knew it was. "An MRI scan has confirmed that Claudio Marchisio has suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee," read a statement on the club's official website. "He will undergo surgery in the next few days." Out for the rest of the season—and almost certain to miss this summer's UEFA European Football Championship with Italy—it is a desperate loss for all concerned, such is the importance of the 30-year-old to both club and country. It is the same problem that blighted the Bianconeri in the early part of 2015/16, with Hernanes and Simone Padoin proving to be wholly inadequate replacements as Marchisio missed the first few matches of the campaign. He returned in October's 0-0 draw with Inter Milan, and Juve's form improved immediately, their record with him in the side making remarkable reading. Indeed, Marchisio has made 32 appearances in all competitions this term, with the Bianconeri registering 25 wins, six draws and just a single defeat in those matches. The only loss was away to Sevilla in the Champions League, with his tally of zero goals and two assists failing to underline his influence on almost every performance. Fielded in the centre of Allegri's three-man midfield, the team has altered shape around Marchisio, but he remains the key to its success. According to statistics courtesy of WhoScored.com, his average of 63.5 passes per game leads all Juventus players, connecting on an impressive 88.5 percent of those attempts as he commands the attacking flow of the side. It is a similar story without the ball, as the same source shows only Paul Pogba (72) and Patrice Evra (51) have made more tackles than Marchisio's tally of 48, while his average of 2.8 interceptions is another team-high mark. Lemina has blossomed into a fine deputy in recent weeks, but Juventus will be thankful the Serie A title race is no longer as tight as it once was and that so few weeks remain for Napoli to close the gap. "It's a terrible injury that happened to a serious professional, a treasure of our Juventus," director general Beppe Marotta told RAI Radio 1 (h/t Football Italia) on Monday morning, adding his hope that the player "can return as soon as possible." That remains to be seen, but the Bianconeri will almost certainly miss the Turin native, a key figure at the centre of everything his hometown club has achieved in recent seasons under both Allegri and his predecessor, Antonio Conte. With five league games and the Coppa Italia final awaiting, Juventus must find a way to win without Marchisio, something that has proved hugely difficult in the past. Juve confirmed on Sunday arthroscopic cleansing was carried out on Marchisio's knee in order to allow him to begin the first part of his recovery phase, but the club do not expect his comeback to be delayed. "Having missed out on yesterday's [saturday's] Scudetto ceremony as a precaution, Claudio Marchisio is continuing his rehabilitation regime at Juventus Center following knee surgery last month," a Juve statement read. "Inflammation of the knee after the operation had delayed the first stage of the midfielder's specialised fitness programme and arthroscopic cleansing was also required. "Upon gradual improvement of Marchisio's current state, Juventus' medical staff still expect the 30-year-old to make a return to training in the six-month period originally forecasted." It was Claudio Marchisio. I figured it was knee injury-related, but mainly because the club didn't want him to somehow stumble over an over zealous Leonardo Bonucci or Paul Pogba as they tried to go absolutely buck wild. Little did we know there was injury-related news to follow. And not exactly the most encouraging injury-related news, either. Here is the Marchisio injury update that the Juventus website provided us on Sunday afternoon: Having missed out on yesterday's Scudetto ceremony as a precaution, Claudio Marchisio is continuing his rehabilitation regime at Juventus Center following knee surgery last month. Inflammation of the knee after the operation had delayed the first stage of the midfielder's specialised fitness programme and arthroscopic cleansing was also required. Upon gradual improvement of Marchisio's current state, Juventus' medical staff still expect the 30-year-old to make a return to training in the six month-period originally forecasted. Okay, so same six-month timetable. But, when you read "delayed the first stage of the midfielder's specialised fitness programme" and "arthroscopic cleansing was also required," you're not exactly filled with brimming optimism. But, as the last sentence in the medical update states, Juventus are still expecting Marchisio to be back in the same time period that was originally set out. Let's just hope this inflammation in his surgically-repaired knee is just a minor blip on the radar that other folks who have major ACL injuries deal with. (Which, I am under the assumption that it is.) We'll be waiting patiently for the next medical update. I sure hope there's no talk of more stages in the rehab process being delayed, too. Maybe signing a central midfielder isn't all too much of a priority. Maybe the onus is put on something else rather than trying to find a stellar midfielder that is capable of filling the void left by Marchisio's lengthy absence. As it has happened, though, Juventus' first signing in the month of June ended up being Miralem Pjanic for €32 million on Monday after a swift and effective negotiating period with Roma. And even though Pjanic may be a guy who could very well play the same role Marchisio has for more or less the past two seasons, the Turin-born midfielder gave his stamp of approval during the unveiling of his book 'Nero su Bianco' on Thursday. What a guy, right? "He's a magnificent player and I can't wait for him to play alongside us. It's an excellent acquisition, bolstering an already top-rate squad that has improved on year on year thanks to the capture of players such as Pjanic, someone who is capable of changing a game by himself." Nothing in the above paragraph of Marchisio speak is wrong. Juventus' squad is already very good, and the Pjanic signing has made it even better. That's because Pjanic is capable of doing amazing things on the field at any given moment. He can drop dimes with the best of them, he can score amazing free kicks. Basically, he's a pretty awesome player to watch. And now we can say he's a Juventus player, which is pretty great if you ask me. And seeing as Marchisio is out for at least the first month or two of the 2016-17 season, we're bound to see Max Allegri field Pjanic play a holding midfielder at some point relatively soon after Serie A games begin. That's nothing official yet, but seeing as Pjanic can distribute the ball extremely well, I feel like it's a pretty logical assumption at this point. "My recovery is coming along nicely. I feel in good nick, my rehabilitation is going according to plan and I can't wait to get back running with my team-mates. "It wasn't easy to miss out on the end-of-season celebrations with my team-mates, while sat on the sofa watching the Euros is also a wrench. I'm Italy's biggest fan and hope we go as far as possible." Even with Pjanic on board, Marchisio's health will be a big topic once preseason training starts up next month. And when they're both able to play on the field together, then the fun will really begin. (And it's not like life will suck with Pjanic directing Juve's midfield, either.) The Juventus midfielder was ruled out of Euro 2016 after injuring his knee in his side's 4-0 win over Palermo back in April. He is not due to return until late September but he says that is still a realistic forecast for his return, with his recovery on track. "I'm feeling good," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "I had a minor setback right at the start, but there have been great improvements since and I'm pleased with the way things are going. "The recovery time remains how it was initially, nothing has changed. It's hard to predict the precise day, we're just focusing on the present. I'll be back at Vinovo [training ground] in July for the start of preseason training." In the meantime, Marchisio is following the progress of his Italy teammates from a distance, and says he is unsurprised by how well their Euro 2016 campaign has started. "I expected it, in spite of all the pessimism that was going around," he said. "I know my teammates and I know [coach Antonio] Conte. "I was a bit disappointed by Belgium, who are a side with great talent, but their attitude let them down a bit. "I'd love to be in France. I'm happy for my teammates, they just need to carry on like this. You can't tell if they are going to go all the way, but the important thing is they make us dream." Claudio Marchisio was ruled out of Italy's Euro 2016 campaign with an injury back in April. While he may not see many of his Juve teammates again for a while this summer, he can be sure of meeting the Bianconeri's newest recruit Miralem Pjanic soon since he is also not involved in Euro 2016. Marchisio has welcomed his arrival, even if the former Roma midfielder will be rivalling him for a place in the team next season. "He's a great player -- still young but experienced," Marchisio said. "He can change games with the quality he's got. He's going to strengthen our squad and it's a wise signing. "We don't need that many changes, but just ones who can make a difference and, with Miralem, we've raised our quality." Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

I spoke to Giorgio Chiellini two days ago and I can assure you they are fired up. They want to end that Spain taboo.” It has been said, including by Xavi, that Spain tend to struggle against a 3-5-2 system. “I don’t think it’s just having three at the back. Now Spain are meeting a team that is in very good shape both physically and psychologically. “The group is very united and had to put up with a lot of criticism. They’ll face this game with the right determination, knowing the opposition is strong. “The way to beat Spain is with rapid counters. We have always been well-prepared defensively, but Spain are not accustomed to defending. Therefore when we get possession, we have to make it count.” Alessandro Florenzi replaces injured Antonio Candreva on the right. Is that an excessively defensive choice? “Florenzi started out as a midfielder and has a good record when it comes to scoring goals, so I think he can make the difference today. I don’t see it being defensive.” How is Marchisio feeling as he watches the match from a distance? “To be honest, I haven’t even watched all of the Euros, as it does hurt not being there. Now I can’t wait for the game to start and I know exactly how the players are feeling. “That 4-0 still weighs on us and I trust them to write a different story today.” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti

The Italian international suffered a cruciate ligament injury toward the end of last season, and today had his first day of workouts at Vinovo. Principino will have routine check-ups in the coming weeks, with his return scheduled for late-October or early November. However, Marchisio will not recover in time to attend a concert by pop singer Rihanna, who he is a big fan of, at Turin’s Pala Alpitour tonight. “I am so sad I cannot make it to the show for medical reasons,” Marchisio wrote on Facebook as he sent a signed Bianconeri shirt to the star. “I am sure it will be a great one and you will adore my Torinese who make me feel so special every time I enter the stadium. “I promise I will come next time…” Condividi questo messaggio Link di questo messaggio Condividi su altri siti
