Official: Juventus Extend Giorgio Chiellini's Contract Until 2015

Juventus have sealed Chiellini's long-term future...

Nov 23, 2010

Juventus have extended Giorgio Chiellini's contract until 2015, the Italian giants announced on Tuesday.

A statement on their official website reads:

"Chiellini has renewed his contract at the headquarters in Corso Galileo Ferraris that binds him Juventus until June 30, 2015."

The Italy international centre-back had been linked with a number of clubs in recent weeks but he has now expressed his relief at finally putting pen to paper on a long-term contract at Juve.

"I am very pleased with this agreement, which binds me to Juventus for the next few years," enthused Chiellini. "This is my team, in which I take great satisfaction and want to win something important.

"I thank the club for the confidence they have placed in me and for demonstrating the willingness to extend our relationship."

Validity Of Giorgio Chiellini's 2015 Juventus Extension

Questioned By Players' Association

The Italian Footballers' Association (AIC) have shed doubts

on the validity of Giorgio Chiellini's new Juventus contract...

Nov 24, 2010

Doubts over the legality of Giorgio Chiellini's 2015 contract extension, signed on Tuesday with Juventus, have been expressed by Leonardo Grosso.

Grosso, the vice-president of the AIC (Italian Footballers Association), said on Wednesday that Chiellini's deal could be worth nothing.

"The contract signed by Chiellini with Juventus may not be valid as far as we [the AIC] are concerned," he told the press.

Grosso said the contracted could be in violation of a set of rules established by the high court of the CONI (Italy's Olympic Committee).

"The opinion of the court is that the new contracts must refer to the old accord in relation to the collective bargaining agreement, expired in June and thus new deals could not follow pre-established schemes on one side, and so I think we are on the wrong side of the regulations."

Grosso was at the FIGC headquarters in Rome where he met Giancarlo Abete, the FIGC's president, and Maurizio Berretta, head of the Lega Serie A.

There is a current dispute between Lega and AIC over the collective contract agreements.

Both associations are at odds over the way forward in relation to how players handle contracts, transfers and extensions between themselves and clubs.

So far no agreement has been reached over a new deal, leading to the threat of strikes, despite Abete acting as a mediator and limiting discussion points to six.

The meeting in Rome today is just one of many which focuses on cutting the strike action.

Giorgio Chiellini Disappointed With 'Inappropriate Comments'

About His Contract Extension With Juventus

Juventus defender says his new contract is valid

and deems the comments made by the AIC as inappropriate...

Nov 24, 2010

Juventus star Giorgio Chiellini signed a new contract that ties him to the club until 2015 on Tuesday evening, but today the Italian Players' Association (AIC) questioned the validity of the deal.

The defender has responded by suggesting the comments by AIC vice-president Leandro Grosso regarding his contract were inappropriate.

"The renewal of my contract has generated a number of comments and news that I consider inappropriate," the player stated through his official website.

"I will say I have personally always supported the players' association and my contract is one that takes into account the complexity of the relationship between clubs and players in Serie A.

"It should not be read as a statement of position in relation to recent discussions of current sports policy. I hope that my contract will facilitate dialogue on the new collective bargaining agreement," he concluded.

Juventus Will Be Reinvigorated In 2011 - Giorgio Chiellini

Chiellini believes the holiday break will allow the club to play their best in January...

Dec 21, 2010

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini was disappointed to end the year with a 1-1 draw against Chievo Verona after Sergio Pellissier equalised in the dying minutes, but is confident the Bianconeri will be back to their best following the winter break.

"The draw against Chievo leaves a bitter taste in our mouths as they equalised in injury time," lamented the former Fiorentina and Livorno player on his official website.

"Now we have some time off to recuperate all the energy we used in 2010 and then start up again."

The Bianconeri remain a challenger for the Scudetto, sitting in fourth place in the Serie A standings after 17 matches. Chiellini has played a crucial role, earning a place in the Goal.com Serie A Team of the Season.

Giorgio Chiellini Eager For Juventus To Keep On Improving In 2011

Juventus defender is hoping for a strong second-half of the season, maturing as a side together.

Dec 26, 2010

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has seen a strong willingness from his team-mates to improve and hopes it can continue in 2011.

The stopper is also hoping that the team can claim a trophy at the end of the season, as a just reward for all their hard work.

"The first few months of 2010 did not go like we hoped, and there were a few problems," the Italian international told the club's official website. "Now, we have the willingness to do well .

"We have had the odd problems during this new season, but it is normal after a raft of changes. With the months passing, we have found an equilibrium and things are now on the right path.

"All we can do is now continue like this, growing and maturing match after match.

"Individually, I hope to continue having fun and becoming an even more important player for the Bianconeri and Italy. I also hope that we can finally win a trophy as well," he concluded.

The Turin giants sit in fourth place on the table, five points off leaders Milan.

Juventus Are Aiming For A Champions League Place,

Not The Scudetto - Giorgio Chiellini

Giorgio Chiellini has reconfigured plans for the season and suggests

Juventus have been thrown off the Scudetto yoke...

Jan 22, 2011

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has watered-down suggestions that they are a force for the Scudetto, claiming a top four finish for a Champions League place is more realistic.

Aside from last week's narrow win over Bari, a negative run of form in recent weeks has seen Juventus thrown off the title chase.

And Chiellini feels the Tricolore is out of reach.

"Scudetto or fourth place? when things were going well we believed in it and it was not impossible. Now we are seeing Milan slow down," he told La Stampa.

"Now, objective wise, certain things have happened and so it is right for us to aim for the Champions League.

"I think this is our primary objective for the season. Who will win the title? Milan if Zlatan Ibrahimovic doesn't get injured."

Real Madrid To Poach Giorgio Chiellini

Real Madrid consider Juventus defender Chiellini...

Feb 12, 2011

The sound of Real Madrid's interest has become audible for Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini and he could join them if the Italian giants fail to strike a chord for Champions League football.

Chiellini, 26, is tied to Juventus until June 2015, but Real Madrid are keen on landing him in the summer, according to La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport.

And they will play on Juventus' less than perfect form to gleefully view Chiellini as a potential target for the summer market.

There are suggestions the Italian international could reconsider his future if Juventus fail to offer a reassuring note on their ambition for a top-four place.

However, Juventus are unlikely to yield to Real Madrid influence easily. They see Chiellini as a long-term guarantee.

Juventus Have Rediscovered Identity

After Inter Win - Giorgio Chiellini

Chielini claims it's onwards and upwards for Juventus following victory over Inter...

Feb 15, 2011

Giorgio Chiellini has given a positive verdict on Juventus' progress following Sunday's derby d'Italia win over Inter.

The stopper feels they have opened themselves up for Champions League football, and he has asked to maintain the positive run.

"The team is doing well, and so the defence also earns from this," Chiellini told Tuttosport.

"The win against Inter has made us rediscover the identity we had lost in January when everything went badly.

"Perhaps there was a physical problem as we had played many games, and despite recovering some players, we were not at our best.

"Those who arrived in January have also helped us."

Chiellini has been thrown into the left back role, and coach Luigi Del Neri is drawing all the right conclusions from the tactical switch.

"He will play there for all the season. He knows this. Chiellini has great quality, strength and charisma. He has adapted really well in that role," the coach told La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport.

Real Madrid To Make Approach For Giorgio Chiellini

Juventus defender a summer transfer target for Real Madrid.

Feb 15, 2011

Real Madrid will turn their attention to Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini if Pepe fails to sign a new deal at the Santiago Bernabeu, according to reports.

La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport comments that Los Blancos coach Jose Mourinho is making provisions for the possibility that their Portuguese stopper will refuse to renew his contract, which expires in 2012, and may have to consider selling him in the summer.

Mourinho is also considering the possibility of switching Sergio Ramos into the centre of defence, and making another approach for Maicon from Inter.

However, the form of Chiellini at the Turin giants is attracting the most interest, and given the fact that the 26-year-old can also be utilised at left back, as shown in his recent appearances for both Juve and Italy, he is seen as a superior option.

Despite Pepe once again insisting this week that he wants to resolve his current dispute and extend his stay in Madrid, speculation continues to link the former Porto man with a move to the English Premier League.

There Will Be No Khedira-Chiellini Swap

Between Real Madrid & Juventus - Ernesto Bronzetti

Madrid will not sell Khedira at any cost in the summer, claims Bronzetti...

Mar 14, 2011

Real Madrid and Juventus will not enter into a negotiation over a Sami Khedira-Giorgio Chiellini exchange deal in the summer, transfer consultant Ernesto Bronzetti has revealed.

It was reported in the Spanish media earlier on Monday that the Italian giants are interested in the Germany international midfielder and could make an approach in the summer.

It was also claimed in some quarters that the Bianconeri could be willing to barter with defender Chiellini as well.

Khedira has established himself as one of the most important players in Jose Mourinho's set-up and it is unlikely that the 23-year-old will be sold anytime soon, and respected football agent Bronzetti has said as much.

Giorgio Chiellini Determined To Beat Slovenia

Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini has set his sights on the full three points against Slovenia.

Mar 25, 2011

Highly rated defender Giorgio Chiellini is eagerly anticipating the Euro 2012 qualifier against Slovenia tonight and has made it clear that Italy are determined to take home the full three points.

"I have faith in this group, despite all the scepticism that is surrounding the national team at the moment," Chiellini was quoted as saying in a press conference.

"We all know that Slovenia are a decent team, but we're determined to take home the full three points on Friday."

The centre-back also briefly discussed the situation at Juventus and made it clear that joining up with the national side was a welcome distraction.

"The situation with the national side is different to the one at club level. This will help the Juventus players to get peace of mind in difficult times. There's a nice, relaxed and serene atmosphere here."

Buffon & Chiellini Could Be Sold To Fund Summer Arrivals

With Juventus hoping to welcome a host of summer arrivals, either Gianluigi Buffon

or Giorgio Chiellini could be sold to finance the project...

Mar 26, 2011

With Juve unlikely to qualify for the Champions League this season the club are planning a summer shopping spree, according to reports from Italy.

The Bianconeri plan to add a number of arrivals in the summer and might have to offload Buffon or Chiellini to fund their ambitious plan, claims Corriere dello Sport.

The first arrival is likely to be Lyon's Michel Bastos, who would operate on the opposite flank to the impressive Milos Krasic to form a dynamic partnership.

The Old Lady are also being heavily linked with the Udinese's Chilean star Alexis Sanchez, Villarreal top scorer Giuseppe Rossi, Santos starlet Neymar and Jeremy Menez who has established himself as one of the most sought-after wingers in European football.

Sampdoria's Andrea Poli is also being touted as a future Juventus player, although any transfer will surely be dependant on the departure of either 'keeper Buffon or star centre-half Chiellini.

If Buffon is sold it appears Arsenal and Roma would be favourites to land the experienced Italian number one, although Manchester United and Manchester City are thought to have also expressed an interest in the 33-year-old.

Interest in Chiellini is also fierce, although Manchester United are believed to be in pole position for the no nonsense defender.

However, the Red Devils will only come in for Chiellini if Real Madrid makes an official approach for Nemanja Vidic, with the Premier League Champions wanting a capable replacement for the Serbian.

Giorgio Chiellini not thinking of Real Madrid - Agent

Giorgio Chiellini's agent claims Juventus are the priority as he plays down reports

linking him with a summer move to Real Madrid...

Mar 29, 2011

Giorgio Chiellini won't be distracted by rumours linking him with Real Madrid as agent Davide Lippi plays down murmurs regarding a Juventus exit.

Reports claimed Madrid were keen on engaging in talks with the Old Lady over a summer move for the 26-year-old Italian international, adding that he would be sold as part of a transfer fundraising scheme in Turin.

However, Lippi has made it clear his client is only paying attention to matters closer to home, namely finishing the season well with Juventus.

"Giorgio is focused on his club and he is not thinking about other things," Lippi told Calciomercato.it.

"Now is not the time to think about his future. The truth is he wants to finish the season well with his club.

"He values the shirt and he is not too pleased with the moment his side are going through. He is only thinking of doing well with Juve and salvaging their season."

Giorgio Chiellini out for a month due to muscle injury

Juventus will be without Chiellini for a month, meaning he will miss a huge chunk of the Serie A run-in...

Mar 31, 2011

Juventus have been dealt a blow with the news that Giorgio Chiellini faces a month out due to a muscle problem.

The Italian stoppers' presence in this weekend's clash at Roma was already in doubt after he came off injured during the Azzurri's 2-0 friendly win over the Ukraine.

Tests have revealed a first-grade quadriceps injury that will keep him out of action until May, and a statement on the club's official website reads:

"Giorgio Chiellini underwent a medical examination this morning at the Istituto di Medicina dello Sport e l

Giorgio Chiellini: Juventus need a little bit

of luck to finish in fourth spot

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini believes his side need three wins

and some good fortune to grab the last Champions League spot.

May 4, 2011

Giorgio Chiellini believes Juventus can still qualify for next season's Champions League, and that a top four finish is within their reach.

The Turin outfit beat current fourth-placed side Lazio 1-0 on Monday night to close the gap between the sides to four points, with three games remaining.

"We hope to go to the Champions League. We need three wins and then we'll see," the Italy international told Corriere dello Sport.

"We'll need a little luck and I hope for the missteps of our adversaries," the 26-year-old continued.

Juve coach Luigi Del Neri has been under added pressure due to the club's league position, with his future at the Old Lady in doubt and Chiellini commented on whether the tactician would be back next season.

"He is a very good coach and a good person but I do not know if next year he will be on the bench. I think so, but do not know," Chiellini said.

Giorgio Chiellini: I want to stay at Juventus

despite Real Madrid rumours

Italy international has slammed suggestions he is moving to Madrid when the transfer window reopens.

May 13, 2011

Giorgio Chiellini has made it clear he has no intention to leave Juventus this summer despite being linked with Real Madrid.

Reports from Spain suggested Chiellini could be used by Juve as a bargaining tool for Madrid players including Karim Benzema.

A reported meeting between Juve general director Giuseppe Marotta and Madrid president Florentino Perez fuelled speculation of potential deals.

But Chiellini has every ambition of staying with the Old Lady, even if it means missing out on a European place.

"I don't know anything about the market rumours, but I know I want to stay at Juventus. [As for] Real Madrid, I repeat, I want to stay. And I think the club wants me to stay also," he told Tuttosport.

The Bianconeri are struggling for a top-six finish. They are currently seventh and risk missing out on the Europa League.

"I struggle to think about a Juve without European football," he said.

Agent reveals Chiellini will stay at Juventus

Turin stay is looking increasingly likely for Italian international.

May 16, 2011

Giorgio Chiellini is happy to remain at Juventus, despite interest from Real Madrid and Manchester United, claims his agent Davide Lippi.

The 26-year-old Italy international recently claimed he was happy to stay in Turin after reports linked him with the Spanish side.

Lippi has now made clear there is no intention to move abroad in the summer.

"The player confirmed he wants to stay," the agent told Calciomercato.it.

"Of course, the courting of teams like Real Madrid and Manchester United are pleasing, but that's where it ends as Giorgio does not doubt his desire to continue with the Bianconeri."

Juventus need players who can make a difference - Giorgio Chiellini

The powerful defender has revealed that Juve need players with a cutting edge,

but added that they already have a solid base from which they can base their squad next season.

Jun 3, 2011

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has voiced his opinion that the Serie A outfit need to bring in players who can make the difference on the pitch, but added that wholesale changes are not necessary.

The Turin giants underachieved during 2010-11, failing to mount a Scudetto challenge, but the Italy defender feels that slight tweaks, rather than major alterations, are required.

"In order to improve our side, we need players who can make the difference. We have already changed many aspects and I do not think that disrupting the whole situation would be right," Chiellini said on the club's official website.

"Having a solid base from which to start our course again is fundamental. Thereby, another settlement period will not be required. The new stadium and an ambitious project will be an incentive more for those who will join us."

The stopper then took the time to discuss the appointment of Antonio Conte as the club's new head coach, and made it clear that he's looking forward to working with the former midfielder.

Giorgio Chiellini hopeful Juventus can recreate

former glories in new stadium

The powerful centre-back is eager to return to winning ways again

as the Turin side move into their new home this summer.

Jun 14, 2011

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini is keen to forget the club's disappointing 2010-11 campaign and is hopeful that moving into their revamped stadium will give the Turin side a boost ahead of next season.

The Serie A giants could only finish in seventh spot in the table last term and missed out on qualification for European football.

Chiellini told the club's official website, however, that a return to the Stadio delle Alpi, which has undergone a rebuild since Juve departed in 2006, will help reverse the club's ailing fortunes.

He stated: "I understand the disappointment of all fans, because I feel the same. These two years have left their mark. We share the hope to be able to pave a new winning course, like those experienced in our recent past, especially thanks to our new

Giorgio Chiellini: We are not the seventh best team in Serie A

Italy defender feels lack of participation on the continent will give team

'something more' as he tries to forget the past two disappointing campaigns.

Jul 14, 2011

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini is looking ahead to the new season, and feels their lack of European involvement could be the springboard to success.

The Turin-based side failed to qualify for Europe last term as they finished seventh, with Palermo taking the final Europa League slot through the Coppa Italia route as they were runners-up to Inter who are in the Champions League.

Earlier this week Gianluigi Buffon said Juventus were the seventh-best team in the league, but Chiellini disagrees, and believes this will be the year they return to the pinnacle of Italian football.

Giorgio Chiellini unconcerned following

Juventus' friendly defeat to Sporting Lisbon

Italy international will not let loss against Portuguese side affect future plans

as he is confident the Turin outfit can bounce back through hard work and team cohesion.

Jul 24, 2011

Giorgio Chiellini is refusing to panic following Juventus' 2-1 loss to Sporting Lisbon and has insisted that his side will improve in the coming weeks.

Antonio Conte's men went down to a double strike from Yannick Djalo on Saturday, with Alessandro Del Piero responding for the Italians.

Conte said he wanted more intensity after the win, and Chiellini feels it will arrive through hard work and dedication during the course of pre-season.

"We knew that by training really hard during the week we would likely lose a game at the start of pre-season, but winning would have helped our conviction," Chiellini told Tuttosport.

"But, now we will try to find the right result in the next few games.

"We struggled against Sporting Lisbon for over an hour and you could see that they are more advanced in terms of preparation compared to us.

"We are trying to do what the coach wants and I am sure that we will do much better in our next few games."

Juventus play Club America, and Chivas Guadalajara as part of their US tour next week.

'AC Milan are favourites for the Scudetto' - Giorgio Chiellini

Last year's Serie A victors are favourites to seize another league win for the 2011-12 campaign

as Italy international offers a prediction on how things will turn out.

Aug 11, 2011

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has said AC Milan are in pole position to defend their Serie A title ahead of the new season.

Milan blitzed their way to the Scudetto last term, finishing six points ahead of their city rivals Inter.

And the 26-year-old, who featured in Italy's 2-1 friendly win over world champions Spain on Wednesday, believes Massimiliano Allegri's men are the team to beat.

"It's right that Milan start ahead of the rest, they are favourites and I think Inter are a step behind them," Chiellini told Milannews.it.

Chiellini was asked whether Inter's potential sale of Samuel Eto'o to Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala would weaken ambition in the blue and black half of San Siro.

"If Inter sell Eto'o then they will sign another strong player, so I don't think they will be any different," he said.

Speaking of Juventus' own fortunes, Chiellini added: "We are a strong team who can do well."

There is a lot of enthusiasm at Juventus this summer - Giorgio Chiellini

The towering defender is full of optimism for the upcoming season and has admitted

that the club have a responsibility to do well in the 2011-12 campaign.

Aug 14, 2011

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has admitted that the feel-good factor has returned to the club, after the negativity of recent years.

The Italy international told his club's official website of the positivity and optimism that has swept through Turin, after a productive pre-season which has brought Juve success in the transfer market, and good form in their friendly fixtures.

"We possess so enthusiasm this year, but it will be a challenge and more responsibility rests on our shoulders," said Chiellini.

"This week we have our final pre-season games, and then our season begins. We are working hard to put into practice what the coach asks of us, and we want to be protagonists."

The ex-Livorno man then touched on the tantalising prospect of playing at the new Juventus Arena, which will become the club's new home.

"I'm really looking forward to playing at the new stadium, as there has been a lot of intrigue to see and experience our new Delle Alpi, as well as the atmosphere and the emotions that the fans and players will feel."
