Buffon has been out since suffering a herniated disc during the World Cup. He had surgery and his recovery is going well.

His return seems to be pivoting towards a full and syncopated swing, reveals agent Silvano Martina.

"Buffon is continuing his recovery programme in complete harmony with the club's medical staff," Martina told Calciomercato.it.

"His return remains confirmed for January. He is coming back from a big injury."

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon continues to carry a freight of association with Manchester United, but that is where it ends, as he will not become the new supreme celebrity at Old Trafford, Goal.com can exclusively reveal.

Buffon was linked with United as part of a swap deal for Dimitar Berbatov, with both La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport and Telegraph reporting a deal was on the horizon.

But Goal.com can reveal such a move is not on the road to expansion during the January transfer window, and new trade links between United and Juventus will not be fuelled by Buffon.

In fact, Buffon is back at Vinovo training to get back in the team following his long term injury absence.

"No, it's not true, this story is not true at all. I don't know anything about this," Buffon's agent Silvano Martina told Goal.com.

"What I do know is that today Buffon is training with Juventus at Vinovo, diving and training hard so he can come back stronger than ever.

"Of the rest I know nothing. I have never been contacted by any club in England, it's the usual paper talk.

"I really don't know anything. You get people writing these things, offers like this, offers like that, but none of it is true.

"From what I know Manchester United have already bought a goalkeeper from Denmark. United also have Tomasz Kuszczak and other goalkeepers there.

"And I also have a client there in Nemanja Vidic. I have an excellent relationship with the Manchester United board of directors and they have never contacted me about Buffon.

Juventus and Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has labelled the Italian Players' Association (AIC) decision to strike on the weekend of December 11-12 as extreme.

"The strike is a very extreme protest. There are other forms of protest that are just as effective," he told Sky Sport 24.

"It's obvious that the players are united in claiming their rights in a context in which they were always protagonists. If there is a strike the football system in Italy will be damaged.

"I think talking is always the best way to find a solution between the players and the clubs. [League] President [Maurizio] Beretta is right, we must together establish rules that can bring football to a higher level."

Gianluigi Buffon insists he is at Juventus for the long haul and believes he can play on for at least another decade.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper is expected to return from injury in January as his recovery from back surgery remains on course.

The Italian international has been out since July, and he needed surgery after suffering a herniated disc with Italy at the World Cup.

Tuttosport reports he has made a full recovery and was present with the rest of the squad for Tuesday training.

Buffon performed a number of exercises with Marco Storari and Alex Manninger as general director Giuseppe Marotta watched.

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has reassured Juventus his club won't pump in the millions and take Gianluigi Buffon to the Premier League.

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has revealed his excitement at returning to the Italy line-up. The shot stopper last featured for his country in the 2010 World Cup where he picked up a back injury during the first game against Paraguay.

Buffon spent six months on the sidelines, but has made a successful return in 2011, making four appearances for the Bianconeri.

The ex-Parma man spoke about his upcoming return to the Azzurri as well as the recent struggles of his club side.

"On February 9 it will be my 'debut' with Italy during the friendly against Germany. It will evoke strong emotions," the 33-year-old said via his official website.

"This moment at Juventus is difficult and we have made some missteps. From the cup we left early but it would be useless to cry about it. The minimum goal remains fourth place in the league and qualifying for the Champions League. It's within our reach."

Buffon is considered one of the best goalkeepers of all time, having won a number of titles and awards in his career, including the 2006 World Cup.
