Rumours of Buffon joining Roma 'absolutely false' - agent

Gianluigi Buffon's agent Silvano Martina has once again denied reports

that the goalkeeper will move to Roma in the summer.

May 21, 2011

Gianluigi Buffon's agent Silvano Martina has reiterated that his client will not be moving to Roma in the summer and has indicated that the goalkeeper's future is at Juventus.

With the Bianconeri missing out on the Champions League and American businessman Thomas DiBenedetto taking control at Roma, a move to the capital for the 33-year-old had been rumoured in the press.

It is widely known that Martina is a personal friend of Walter Sabatini, Roma's new sporting director, and the pair have been sighted together recently, adding fuel to the transfer speculation.

"I am a friend of Sabatini, we have travelled together, but the rumours are absolutely false. In terms of Gigi to Roma we had no contact," the player's representative told Romanews.

The former Parma stopper has played for the Turin club since 2001, and has picked up the Serie A goalkeeper of the year award a record eight times.

A new man between the sticks is reportedly on the Roman club's wishlist, as both Doni and Julio Cesar have shown inconsistency this season.

Gianluigi Buffon: I have a contract with Juventus

Buffon has downplayed exit reports as he reveals his intent to respect

his deal at Vinovo which expires in 2013, amid speculation he could leave for Roma.

May 28, 2011

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has indicated that he will remain at the Turin giants next season, despite media speculation of a move for the Italian international.

Buffon's future has come under scrutiny following a poor season which left the Old Lady without European football.

The 33-year-old has been linked with Roma, and while his agent Silvano Martina said he was happy at Juventus on Friday, he added that a great offer would be hard to refuse.

However, the shot-stopper has looked to set the record straight, by noting that he remains tied to the club.

"Will I leave? The same things are always being said, but I have a contract with Juventus," he told the press.

Buffon's current agreement at the club he joined from Parma in 2001 runs until the summer of 2013.

Gianluigi Buffon upset with reporting in Italian betting scandal

The experienced goalkeeper has expressed his dismay with the media's coverage of the Italian betting scandal.

Jun 9, 2011

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has hit out at the media for the way they are covering the betting scandal that has rocked the Italian football world.

Several current and former players were recently arrested for their alleged involvement in the betting scandal and Buffon is far from pleased with the 'naming and shaming' in the Italian press.

"In recent years something similar happened to me, and I was immediately considered guilty for something that I had absolutely no involvement in," said Buffon to ANSA, referring to the uproar in the wake of his decision to wear the controversial number 88.

"There is the risk of tarnishing people

Gianluigi Buffon never thought of leaving Juventus - agent

The veteran goalkeeper was not short of offers from a whole host of clubs,

but his representative insists that a move away from his current team was never on the cards.

Jun 12, 2011

Gianluigi Buffon never considered a departure from Serie A outfit Juventus despite many offers for his signature, according to his agent Silvano Martina.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper has been linked with many clubs, including Roma, but there is no prospect of the former Parma custodian leaving Turin for new pastures.

"Since 2006, Gigi has had offers from all over the world and from two of Italy's biggest clubs,

Gianluigi Buffon: I will not leave Juventus

The veteran Italian custodian has pledged his allegiance to the former

European champions and is also looking forward to playing under new coach Antonio Conte.

Jun 14, 2011

Gianluigi Buffon has confirmed that he will remain at Juventus next season despite reports linking the veteran goalkeeper with a move away from Turin this summer.

Buffon, 33, endured a disappointing 2010-11 season for the former Italian champions as he could make only 16 Serie A appearances because of injuries.

The Italy international custodian has been linked with a move to Roma in the summer but he has dismissed such a notion, telling La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport: "I will return to be the Buffon I once was. I feel a lot of love for Juve.

Gianluigi Buffon focused on winning Scudetto with Juventus

Days ahead of his wedding to Czech model Alena Seredova, shot stopper Gianluigi Buffon

remains focused on claiming the Italian championship next season with Juventus.

Jun 14, 2011

Gianluigi Buffon's current focus is on football, despite getting ready to marry Alena Seredova in the next few days.

The Juventus goalkeeper also spoke of his relationship with the club's supporters and is eager to bring the Scudetto back to Turin.

"There's a lot of love, especially with the fans, who have always had affection for me," he said, according to La giornalaccio rosa dello Sport

"I said that I want to win the Scudetto with Juve and that it would be worth more than 1,200,000 championships elsewhere."

The 33-year-old veteran, who has racked up 105 caps for Italy, said that he still has a big role to play at Juventus.

"Antonio Conte has called me and told me that I'm involved with the project. I will continue for many years to play at my level."

Buffon has been with the Turin outfit for 10 years, racking up over 350 appearances in the process.

Aguero's wages won't cause friction at Juventus - Gianluigi Buffon

The Italy international has made it clear that he wouldn't mind if the Atletico star became

a top earner at the Turin giants and added that he's welcome if he really wants to join.

Jul 6, 2011

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has voiced his belief that Atletico Madrid attacker Sergio Aguero's high wages won't cause fraction in the Turin side's squad if the Argentina international moves to the Turin-based side this summer.

The 23-year-old forward is Juventus' primary target in the summer transfer window and the Serie A side seem determined to lure Aguero to Turin ahead of the 2011-12 campaign.

"The numbers are dictated by the times and depend on the form of the player and the team. I have never been jealous of what my team-mates earn and regardless of everything, if someone earns a certain amount then there is always a reason behind it," Buffon said to Tuttosport.

"I don't have a preference between Aguero or Giuseppe Rossi. The most important thing is that someone really wants to play for Juventus and wants the best for the team. They will become part of the group of players who decide the fate of this club next season. Juventus should never be a stepping stone or a second choice."

Aguero's representatives have already revealed that the Argentina international, who is currently playing at the Copa America, is interested in a move to Juventus, but his hefty price tag could prove to be an obstacle for an Italian side.

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is determined to leave the club's poor performances from the past two seasons behind and is looking forward to fighting for silverware again in 2011-12.

Gianluigi Buffon reveals frustration of waiting

for Juventus 'project' to bring trophies

The 33-year-old Italian goalkeeper delivers a frank assessment on the downturn

of fortunes at the Serie A club but insists that there is no prospect of him leaving.

Jul 18, 2011

Juventus star Gianluigi Buffon has admitted his frustration with the Italian giants' slow progress in their plan to re-emerge as a force in European football.

The Turin-based side were relegated to Serie B in 2006 after the Calciopoli scandal and have struggled to compete for honours since their return to the top flight, only managing to finish seventh in Serie A last season.

Buffon, the Italy goalkeeper, is desperate for Juventus to once again challenge for trophies including the Champions League, but believes the club's downturn in fortunes reflects the current status of Italian football in comparison with the Premier League and La Liga.

Gianluigi Buffon would like to coach

United States or China once his playing career ends

The 33-year-old is focussed on the 2011-12 season with the Turin club, but feels taking

charge of a national side outside Italy would offer a rewarding experience in the future.

Jul 23, 2011

Gianluigi Buffon has stated that he intends to finish his playing career at Juventus, but would like to coach a national team such as China or the United States once his time on the pitch is over.

The 33-year-old's future has been in doubt, but he recently committed himself to the Turin giants and is in North America on the Italian side's pre-season tour.

Juventus have a great desire to win again - Gianluigi Buffon

The Italy international has stated that the Turin giants are determined to return

to winning ways again after two disappointing seasons and has praised head coach Antonio Conte.

Aug 1, 2011

Gianluigi Buffon is eager to fight for top honours again with Juventus after two rather disappointing seasons and is confident that the Turin side can fight for the Serie A title under Antonio Conte.

Juventus finished seventh in Italy's top flight last term and failed to qualify for European football, but Buffon has made it clear that the team want to play an important role in challenging for honours in 2011-12.

"The fans and Juventus itself have a great desire to win again. The most important thing is that the players have the same desire. You can't say yet whether we can fight for the Scudetto. I just hope that we can leave the last two seasons behind us," Buffon said to Sky Sport Italia.

"Antonio Conte is a great coach who perfectly knows the strengths and weaknesses of all the players. He wants everything to go perfect and the players are following his direction. There's a great understanding between players and coach."

Gianluigi Buffon believes Cassano can lead Italy to Euro 2012 glory

Juventus goalkeeper believes the playmaker is on the right track to being a success on a personal and team level.

Aug 11, 2011

Gianluigi Buffon feels Antonio Cassano has the potential to help Italy win Euro 2012.

The AC Milan forward wore the captain's armband in Italy's 2-1 friendly win over Spain on Wednesday in Bari.

The Juventus goalkeeper believes the former Real Madrid ace is good enough to lead his side to glory in Poland and Ukraine next year should they qualify for the tournament.

"Not even Cassano knows the value he brings to this team on the pitch and in the dressing room," Buffon told La Repubblica.

"But to make a difference he has to love himself first and then present himself in great fashion for the European Championships and make us win it."

Italy are away to the Faroe Islands on September 2 as their qualifying campaign for Euro 2012 resumes.

Cesare Prandelli's men lead Group C and are five points ahead of Slovenia with a game in hand.

'Juventus are ready' - Buffon believes club can return to the top

The veteran shot-stopper is hopeful his club will be able to mount a challenge

for the Serie A title and stated he expects to play a big part in the campaign.

Aug 24, 2011

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon says he is confident the club can return to the top of the Italian game by mounting a serious Scudetto challenge.

The Turin-based club head into the new campaign with hope, rather than expectation, having finished only seventh in Serie A in the last two seasons.

Juventus have signed the likes of Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal in order to improve their fortunes, and though Buffon reckons a big challenge lies ahead, he added that the fans fully support the squad.

"Along with this enthusiasm there is a great responsibility, because we know we have to start almost from scratch and we know that Juventus' history calls for an immediate rebirth. We have to challenge from start to finish," Buffon told the Corriere dello Sport.

"There is so much enthusiasm, after two bad years from Juve it is normal that the desire for revenge is so intense.

"Juventus are ready and the fans are fond of this squad. Any fan would be a little dissatisfied after these two years, but instead there was not one day in which the training camp was not filled with people."

The 33-year-old custodian added that he hopes to put his fitness problems behind him after being afflicted by injuries in the last couple of seasons.

"I expect to play continously. In the last few years I have not been able to train and play in a continuous manner. After I was operated on, I have never got an injury again, which is a good sign.

"I feel fine and I think I have proved it in training. I hope to play at least 35 of the 38 [serie A] games: I will skip the last matches because we will already have won the title by then!" Buffon said with a smile.

Pirlo capture is the deal of the century - Gianluigi Buffon

The legendary goalkeeper believes that the summer acquisition is of the highest quality

and thanks Milan for letting their trash become the Turin club's treasure.

Sep 12, 2011

Juventus stormed out of the Serie A starting blocks with an emphatic 4-1 win over Parma in a game where Italy international Andrea Pirlo put in a sensational performance.

The midfield maestro has been singled out for praise by club stalwart Gianluigi Buffon, who believes his side has benefited immensely from the discarded AC Milan player.

In an interview with Radio Monte Carlo, the veteran goalkeeper expressed his joy at the 32-year-old's arrival.

"When Andrea told me that he would come to Juve, the first thing that I said was 'Thank God!'

"I think that a player of his level and merit, who came for nearly nothing, has been the deal of the century," argued Buffon.

"And yesterday when I saw him play I thought to myself, 'God exists because his football cleverness is truly embarrassing.'

"This summer when I saw [Milan CEO Adriano] Galliani I thanked him and said, 'Thank you because you truly tried to make the league more balanced,'" cheekily stated Italy's number one.

The Italy No.1 is set to remain with the Old Lady until he announces

his retirement, according to shot stopper's representative.

Sep 16, 2011

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon will see out the rest of his playing days at the club, his agent Silvano Martina revealed on Friday.

The 33-year-old has enjoyed a stellar career in Turin and despite being tipped to leave Juve after the Calciopoli scandal, he decided to remain loyal to the club, garnering praise from his representative.

"Buffon will end his career at Juventus," Martina told Radio Mana Mana Sport. "If he then goes on to win the Scudetto, who

Buffon hopes Italy continue positive trend

against Serbia in Euro 2012 qualifier

The Juventus shot stopper has said the game in Belgrade means 'nothing' but that will not

stop his international colleagues from maintaining high expectations over the 90 minutes.

Oct 4, 2011

Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon hopes his side can continue their winning ways when they face Serbia in Friday's Group C Euro 2012 qualifier.

The 33-year-old hopes to see a productive performance against a team looking to make the play-off stages.

Cesare Prandelli's men are already through to Poland and Ukraine having sealed their place in the tournament last month.

However, the former Parma man believes Italy will play hard for the entire 90 minutes.

"We are going to Belgrade with the aim of continuing our growth," Buffon told the press at Coverciano.

"We can use the game to see players who may not have had the chance to prove themselves and we can also see where we are in terms of our development.

"For us the game means nothing, but we do not want to lose," added the shot stopper.

Gianluigi Buffon: Consistency is the key for Juventus

The Italy international feels that the Turin side cannot afford to let

their performance levels drop or their victory over AC Milan will count for nothing.

Oct 5, 2011

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has stressed that the Turin side will have to keep up their current form if they are to be successful this season.

They recorded a 2-0 Serie A win over AC Milan at Juventus Stadium last Sunday and currently sit top of the table.

But Buffon has voiced his opinion that that victory will prove worthless if their performances drop later in the 2011-12 campaign.

"Juventus have not yet peaked. We played a great game against Milan, but at the end, what's left? Only three points, plus an injection of confidence," Buffon was quoted as saying by Tuttosport.

"If we do not play well, we are just a good team without making the leap.

"The injured will recover," Buffon added, referring to the relatively poor starts made by Milan and Inter while making it clear that Juventus must maintain their level of play.

Buffon is currently preparing to face Serbia and Northern Ireland in Italy's final two Euro 2012 qualifiers. Juventus have a two-week break from Serie A fixtures.

Gianluigi Buffon: I would never play under Zdenek Zeman

Although unconcerned by the Czech's doping allegations against his club, the experienced goalkeeper claims

he would not sign for a team coached by the former Foggia man .

Oct 11, 2011

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has hit out at Pescara's Zdenek Zeman and stressed that he would never work under the Czech coach.

The well-travelled 64-year-old has been involved in a long-standing feud with the 27-time Scudetto winners since making allegations of doping, which were later found to be false by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Zeman accused the Turin giants of using performance-enhancing substances during his spell in charge at Roma from 1997 until 1999, and Buffon has not forgotten those comments.

"His controversial anti-Juve allegations never touched me," the former Parma goalkeeper told Tuttosport.

"For cities like this [Pescara], he is perfect. His reputation leads people to the stadium.

"However, I would never be his goalkeeper or work under him."

Buffon is preparing to appear in Pescara in Tuesday's Euro 2012 qualifier against Northern Ireland. He will receive a special plaque and cap in the city on Thursday to recognise the fact he has passed the 100-game mark for Italy, an honour which has also been bestowed upon Dino Zoff, Paolo Maldini and Fabio Cannavaro.
